In the data base, there are some tables called members, loans and deposits containing members names, joined date , etc.
Example:
MembersTable
MemberName MemberID etc
LoansTable
MemberName CommencedDate
DepositorTable
MemberName CommencedDate
I assume that I should be able to create a report using matix format. But I want to clarify few things before I start. How do I calculate nu members? Data base tables contains only names of the members but not numbers. Other thing is how can I group members by perticular time periods as shown above? Do I need to use parameters? Also In the table, members can be borrowers or a depositors? How can clarify this one?
Please Can anyone give an idea? How to start and which direction I should go etc?

In report builder 3.0 I have row groups. I want a total at the end of each row but I want the total to be broken down by 3 columns based on 3 possible values of a field in the dataset. The report expands as the date range entered is increased. I want the total of clinic id + service id + program id + protocol id + appointment date but I want the total column to be broken down by appts that have shown or not shown or canceled. Â
See screenshots below for seeing how I have it configured. Is this possible? I have tried every combination of possibilities but I keep getting the row total in each of the 3 columns comprised of the total column.

The last Total column displays the entire row count NOT separated by the show, no show, and cancel status'.  I have tried filters and different expressions but keep getting the same output. Is this even possible?

I am trying to write a report that gives me a list of all enquiries based on top 10 people who received it the most.
The fields are:
enquiry.enquiry_number
enquiry.enquiry_time
officer.officer_name
What I want to do is run the report which details each enquiry each officer has received but stop running once top 10 officers have the most enquiries are in the results.
The officers are identified using the officer.officer_name field, enquiry.enquiry_number field shows each enquiry record.

I have an procedure that uses a cursor to decrement a total in one table based on value in another. I am trying to rewrite this to be set based but having some issues getting the correct values.
one table will have a total amount available and the other table will have line items for the amount to decrement (think amount left on gift card). If the total amount remaining is less than the line item amount then line item amount should be set to total amount available with total amount set to zero.
this last part is where I am having trouble.
Here is example table
CREATE TABLE qamt(id INT, amt INT);
CREATE TABLE qtot(id INT, tot INT);
INSERT INTO qamt
VALUES(1,10),
(1,20),
(1,30),
(2,90),
[Code] ....
In the end I would want to update the qamt and qtot tables. I basically want to accomplish a quirky update across multiple tables.

I have a set of revenue records where there is a UNIT column and a REVCHARGE column. What I need to do is breakout the records into single records where the unit count is > 1 and calc the actual charge:
Ex:
Units REVCHG FIELD_A FIELD_B .....
3 3.00 ABCD EFGH
Needs to be converted to:
Units REVCHG FIELD_A FIELD_B .....
1 1.00 ABCD EFGH
1 1.00 ABCD EFGH
1 1.00 ABCD EFGH
The calc is obvious but how can I do this with a cursor but would like to do it without a cursor if possible? Anybody got an idea?

What I need to do it select the top 80 percent of records per group based on the group total. To be clear I am not trying to just grab the top x percent of rows.

Table 1 has the total number of repair orders per dealer. This can be obtained by simply grouping on DealerID and counting the number of RepairIDs.
Table 2 has information on some of the repair orders and it is needed to select the top 80% of tire sizes. This table will be joined to Table 1 and grouped by DealerID and Tire.
Desired Output:

The equation I am given to calculate the top tires per dealer is as follows: Total # of tires for the size / Total # of repair orders per dealer.
Here is what I have so far though I think I might have to rewrite all of it.

I am trying to calculate the the running total but also tried to reset to reset to zero based on a value of a column.
here I am trying to calculate the value of CalcVal column based on column Flag value...actually it is running total but it reset to zero if Flag value is 0.
Here is the example of data along with required column

I would like to get some advises on how creating some kind of reports with Report builder
Lets say i have these two tables with these columns

I would like to be able to create with report builder a report that looks this
Start Date : 2008/10/01 - End Date : 2008/10/30
Total Total Total
In Out OutStanding

ProductName4 12 5 6
Total In : total number of product created between StartDate and EndDate
Total Out : Total number of product completed between Start Date and End Date
Total OutStanding : Total number of product that have not yet been completed.
Any suggestion and advise on how to achieve this ?

I have a table called BidItem which has another table calledBidAddendum related to it by foreign key. I have another table calledBidFolder which is related to both BidItem and BidAddendum, based on acolumn called RefId and one called Type, i.e. type 1 is a relationshipto BidItem and type 2 is a relationship to BidAddendum.Is there any way to specify a foreign key that will allow for thedifferent types indicating which table the relationship should existon? Or do I have to have two separate tables with identical columns(and remove the type column) ?? I would prefer not to have multipleidentical tables.

I know there has to be a way to do this, but I've gone brain dead. Thescenario..a varchar field in a table contains a date range (i.e. June 1,2004 - June 15, 2004 or September 1, 2004 - September 30, 2004 or...). Theusers have decided thats a bad way to do this (!) so they want to split thatfield into two new fields. Everything before the space/dash ( -) goes intoa 'FromDate' field, everything after the dash/space goes into the 'ToDate'field. I've played around with STRING commands, but haven't stumbled on ityet. Any help at all would be appreciated! DTS?

I have to 2 texboxes in the detail line of a table
TextBoxA = IIF( Fields!Total_Amount.Value >0, Fields!Total_Amount.Value,0)
TextBoxB =IIF( Fields!Total_Amount.Value <0, Fields!Total_Amount.Value,0)
I would like to total thoses textboxes in the group footer (Loan_Group1)
I tried this for

Or
=RunningValue(
IIF( Fields!Total_Amount.Value >0, Fields!Total_Amount.Value,0) ,sum,"Loan_Group1")
for both I get this error:
The value expression for the textbox €˜textbox190€™ uses an aggregate function on data of varying data types. Aggregate functions other than First, Last, Previous, Count, and CountDistinct can only aggregate data of a single data type.

I am creating a query that shows the consumption of stock against Manf Orders (M/O) and struggling on the last hurdle. I am having difficulties calculating a running total based on an Opening Balance. The first line returns the correct results but the following lines do not. I have tried other variants of the "Over Partition" but still no joy?

I am using SQL Server 2012, and I have a query that gets data from 4 different sources and sums them all up into one field to get a total, and right now I am using 4 queries for each data source and using UNION ALLs to combine them and I was wondering if there is a different way to accomplish this without using UNION statements.Here is a sample of my code.

Hello,
How do I add unique values on the report? For example say I have this in my report:
Customer: Food Purchased: Amount:
Judy Cat Food $12
Sarah Dog Food $13.50
Diane Rabbit Food $17
Jason Dog Food $16
Tammy Dog Food $15
In the footer of the report I want to print a summary box that looks like this:
Product: Number Purchased: Total:

Dog Food 3 $44.50
Rabbit Food 1 $17
How do I do this?

On the subscription Data Driven Subscription does not exist.

I have a query that calculate the total amount of order details based on a particular order:
Select a.OrderID,SUM(UnitPrice*Quantity-Discount)
From [Order Details]
Inner Join Orders a
On a.OrderID=[Order Details].OrderID
Group by a.OrderID
My question is what if I wanted to create a formula to something like:
UnitPrice * Quantity - DiscountAmount Where DiscountAmount = UnitPrice Quantity * Discount
Do I need to create a function for that? Also is it possible to have m y query as a table variable?

I need to update the status of a client when they make a payment of a certine amount. My problem is this, the two pieces of information needed to do this are comming from two tables. For example;

I have two tables and they have a foreign key relationship. It will be a 1 to Many realationship.
Table1- the primary key table has the following columns
ContentID - int identity field
DateAdded- datetime
Table2 - The foreign key table, has the following relevant fields
FK - int foreign key
version - int
When an initial record is added there is a record added to each table. The ContentID in Table1 will match the FK field in Table2. Then a user will be able to "edit" the record in Table2, but instead of writing over the record that is already there, a new record will be added to Table2. I would like to calculate the version field where each time a record is added for the particular ContentID/FK it adds 1 to the last version that was added to that particular ContentID/FK.
Does that make sense. I am trying to implement some type of revision tracking for my CMS that I am building and this is the only way I can come up with because my client is worried that somebody will go in and make incorrect changes to their site and they want to be able to roll it back to a previous version.
I would appreciate any ideas.

Hi I hop i make sense with this, i have a page where you can update a products price based on the year, so for instance some products will still have prices set in 2007, while some may have prices which will be set in 2008, what i am trying to do is if the price has been set in 2008 it shows this value. The fields in the table which control the values are Rate(controls 2007), and Rate2007Period2. What i am trying to do is if Rate2007Period2 is null or 0, then display the 2007 rate, and if Rate2007Period2 is greater than 0 then display that value. Here is the view which displays the rates;

Here's a question for the SQL gurus out there:
I have a varchar(20) field DIAGNOSISCODE in a table that can either be null, or contain up to 3 comma-separated codes, each of which relates to a description in another table. For example, some sample rows might be
8060
8060,4450
8060,4123,3245
Now I need to structure a query to return these values from this single field as three fields CODE1, CODE2, CODE3, with NULL as appropriate for example
CODE1=8060, CODE2=4450, CODE3=NULL.
I have been using CASE along with CHARINDEX and PATINDEX but it it becoming extremely messy. Can anyone think of a "neater" way to return three fields from this one field?
Any help very greatly appreciated.

I have one table with text column(varchar50) and 2 value columns(INT)
it looks like this:

What i want to do is to combine c3 on row 3 and 4 so the output would look like this:

I have tried to use CASE with no luck.

Hi,
I have a table with eight (8) fields, including the primary key (rfpid). Three of the fields are foreign keys, which take their values form lookup tables. They are int fields (pmid, sectorid, officeid). One of the fields in this table is based on putting together the descriptive field in the lookup table for sector (tblsector). The two other fields to be part of this string are the rfpname and rfpid. This creates the following string:
rfpsector_nameproposalscurrent_year
fpname_08_rfpid
NOTE:
The words rfp, proposals are words that have to be part of string;
the slashes are to also appear.
current_year would be defaulting to datepart = year (2008)
The part that has the last two digits of the current year then the underscore and then the rfpid should be connected by an underscore to the rfpname.
I am at a loss and would greatly appreciate any help.

I have a table with two sets of fields, one for PRIMARY Mail Address and the other for ALTERNATE Mail Address. Both sets are five fields long. I will call them PRIMARY & ALTERNATE for this discussion. I want to select the PRIMARY fields if ALTERNATE is either null or zero, and the ALTERNATE fields if data is present.
I have used this syntax but it gives a table with both the PRIMARY & SECONDARY records.

I am trying to write a stored procedure that updates a value in a table based on the sort order. For example, my table has a field "OfferAmount". When this field is updated, I need to resort the records and update the "CurrRank" field with values 1 through whatever. As per my question marks below, I am not sure how to do this.
Update CurrRank = ??? from tblAppKitOffers
where appkitid = 3 AND (OfferStatusCode = 'O' OR OfferStatusCODE = 'D')
