Calling GetVirtualInput Within SetUsageType Method Causes Error 0xC0047041 On Return
Apr 18, 2006
I've been trying to create an async transform component and one of the things I'd like to do is add a new output and/or columns to existing outputs for each input column that is selected.
I thought that the SetUsageType method would be a good place to do this as it will allow me to delete output's and columns based on the user's selections but, despite the fact that my code doesn't actually throw or cause errors, when I return from the SetUsageType method I'm informed that error 0xC0047041 (DTS_E_OBJECTNOTINHASHTABLE) has occurred .
I pared the method down to an absolute minimum and found that a call to GetVirtualInput is enough to push it over the edge even if it does nothing! What is wrong here?
Thanks
Charlie
Sample:
public override IDTSInputColumn90 SetUsageType(int inputID, IDTSVirtualInput90 virtualInput,
int lineageID, DTSUsageType usageType)
{
if (usageType == DTSUsageType.UT_READONLY || usageType == DTSUsageType.UT_READWRITE)
{
ComponentMetaData.InputCollection[0].GetVirtualInput();
}
return base.SetUsageType(inputID, virtualInput, lineageID, usageType);;
}

I have a method like follows:
string EmpCount = null;
DateTime _dtstart = Convert.ToDateTime(txtStart.Text.Trim());
DateTime _dtend = Convert.ToDateTime(txtEnd.Text.Trim());SQLProvider sqlp = new SQLProvider(System.Configuration.ConnectionStrings["ConString"].ConnectionString);string SqlText = @"
select count(*) from employee
where activeemp=1 and startdate BETWEEN @dtstart and @dtend;
using (sqlp.Connection) {
sqlpm [] param = {
new sqlpm("dtStart", _dtstart),
new SqlP("dtEnd", _dtend)
};
}EmpCount = sqlp.ExecuteScalar(SqlText, param).ToString();
return Convert.ToInt32(mbrCount);
Then the method I am calling is:public Object ExecuteScalar(String sqlText, Sqlp[] param)
{try
{
//Some Code here
}
}
So in the calling method (ExecuteScalar), the second parameter is defined as an array, is it ok to have an array in the called method too?

I have two ASP pages. Page 1 has a button that when pressed, it will display page 2. Page 2 has a button that will call the reporting service (by a URL) . The button on page 1 has the "method=post" to pass a value to page 2. Page 2 wlll use this value as variable to the reporting service.
It works fine for the first time calling the report. But after that, I go back to page 1. When press the button on page 1 and go to page 2, it cannot get the value. Is that something wrong with the reporting services.

I have a written a dll in 2.0 that calls a webservice.
This webservice is used to authenticate users in Active Directory. I created a assembly to that calls this dll because of the diverse languages versions that will use it (from asp,vb6 on up) and all can get values from a stored procedure that calls that assembly. I works great. Until now, I have to add another function to my dll that calls the webservice and returns the Users Full name from Active directory for electronic signitures. Okay I added to the dll then tried to reconstruct my Assembly and stored procedures and recieved the following error. "CREATE PROCEDURE failed because a CLR Procedure may only be defined on CLR methods that return either SqlInt32, System.Int32, void"
I want to keep all these Active directory call all in one place so I can be consistant in all the different applications. I was reading about UDF but that could get messy as I have a config file for the dll that allows the user to dynamically change the url for the webservice. Any suggestions/help will be greatly appreciated

I am trying to use the ListChildren method to query the SSRS Catalog. I am using this as a dataset in a report. I'd like to see more columns, in particular the Description column, included in the dataset. Is there some way to tell ListChildren what columns should be included or is there some other method to obtain this information.
ListChildren returns ID, Name, Path, Type, CreationDate, ModifiedDate, CreatedBy, ModifiedBy, xmlns.
I'd prefer not to query the Catalog table directly.
Thanks

Hi
I'm developing a Destination Component. I need to create the input columns in my ReinitializeMetadata() method. This is a small code sample of the method:
Code Snippet
IDTSInput90 input = ComponentMetaData.InputCollection[0];
input.InputColumnCollection.RemoveAll();
IDTSVirtualInput90 vInput = input.GetVirtualInput();
foreach( IDTSVirtualInputColumn90 vColumn in vInput.VirtualInputColumnCollection ) {
SetUsageType( input.ID, vInput, vColumn.LineageID, DTSUsageType.UT_READONLY );
}
This piece of code works fine, but now i want to use a UI Type DataFlowDestinationUI with a Destination mapping page added by base.AddDestinationMappingsPageToForm( form, "" );.
When I open the mapping page - ReinitializeMetadata() is called BEFORE opening this page - this error is shown:
Code Snippet
===================================
Exception from HRESULT: 0xC0047041 (Microsoft Visual Studio)
------------------------------
Program Location:
at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.Wrapper.IDTSVirtualInputColumn90.get_UsageType()
at Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.DataFlowUI.DataFlowDestinationUI.mappingPage_MapColumns(Object sender, MapColumnsEventArgs args)
I think it's because the mapping page calls GetVirtualInput() itself. Do you know a solution for this problem?
Thank you very much.

Hi again, and so soon...Having just solved my previous issue, I am now trying to call this stored proc from my page.aspx.vb code. Firstly the stored proc looks like this:----------- ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.CountTEstAS SET NOCOUNT ON DECLARE @sql nvarchar(100); DECLARE @recCount int; DECLARE @parms nvarchar(100); SET @sql = 'SELECT @recCount1 = COUNT(*) FROM Pool 'SET @parms = '@recCount1 int OUTPUT' exec sp_executesql @sql, @parms, @recCount1 = @recCount OUTPUTRETURN @recCount -------------When tested from the stored proc, the result is: @RETURN_VALUE = 4 My code that calls this stored proc is: Dim connect As New SqlConnection("Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True") connect.Open() Dim cmd As New SqlCommand("CountTEst", connect) cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure Dim MyCount As Int32 MyCount = cmd.ExecuteScalar connect.Close() So I expext MyCount = 4 but this code returns MyCount = 0 With the RETURN statement in the stored proc, and then calling it via MyCount = cmd.ExecuteScalar, I didn't think I need to explicitly define any other parameters. Any help please. thanks,

Hi,In SQL Books Online in the section on @@Error it gives the followingexample:-- Execute the INSERT statement.INSERT INTO authors(au_id, au_lname, au_fname, phone, address,city, state, zip, contract) values(@au_id,@au_lname,@au_fname,@phone,@address,@city,@state,@zip,@contract)-- Test the error value.IF @@ERROR <> 0BEGIN-- Return 99 to the calling program to indicate failure.PRINT "An error occurred loading the new author information"RETURN(99)ENDELSEBEGIN-- Return 0 to the calling program to indicate success.PRINT "The new author information has been loaded"RETURN(0)ENDGOHow do I access the value returned by the RETURN statement (i.e. 99 or0) in my asp application that called the stored proc.Sometimes rather than just return an integer signifying success orfailure I've seen examples where the id of the newly added item isreturned on success and perhaps -1 if the operation fails. Theseexamples make use of ouput parameters to achieve this. If theoperation succeeds then then the output parameters value is set to thenew id and this is accessed from the calling application.E.g.IF @@ERROR <> 0BEGIN-- Return -1 to the calling program to indicate failure.PRINT "An error occurred loading the new author information"SELECT @MyOuptputParameter = -1ENDELSEBEGIN-- Return id to the calling program to indicate success.PRINT "The new author information has been loaded"SELECT @MyOuptputParameter = @@IDENTITYENDWhy go to this trouble if you can use the RETURN statement?

I have a package that I have been attempting to return a error code after the stored procedure executes, otherwise the package works great.
I call the stored procedure from a Execute SQL Task (execute Marketing_extract_history_load_test ?, ? OUTPUT)
The sql task rowset is set to NONE. It is a OLEB connection.
I have two parameters mapped:
tablename input varchar 0 (this variable is set earlier in a foreach loop) ADO.
returnvalue output long 1
I set the breakpoint and see the values change, but I have a OnFailure conditon set if it returns a failure. The failure is ignored and the package completes. No quite what I wanted.
The first part of the sp is below and I set the value @i and return.
CREATE procedure [dbo].[Marketing_extract_history_load_TEST]
@table_name varchar(200),
@i int output
as
Why is it not capturing and setting the error and execute my OnFailure code? I have tried setting one of my parameter mappings to returnvalue with no success.

Hi, I have developed a website in asp.net 2. I have tester it and it is working fine on my computer but when I have uploaded it to my server I'm getting an error message when the user signup. The error occurs when I'm setting the user role to 'members'.
Error line > Roles.AddUserToRole(user.UserName, "members")
The strage thig is that it is working on my computer but not on the server. My home computer and the server are running the same software versions and the website database is the same as well.
To double check that my code is not generating the error I have lonched 'SQL Query Analizer' and executed the folowing code on my database:
NOTE: In my database I have create the user “teeluk12 and a role “members
aspnet_UsersInRoles_AddUsersToRoles "/", "teeluk12", "members", "5/02/2006 4:44:33 pm"
Once again the code is working on my home computer but not on the server. On the server I'm getting the following error:
Server: Msg 446, Level 16, State 9, Procedure aspnet_UsersInRoles_AddUsersToRoles, Line 76
Cannot resolve collation conflict for equal to operation.
Does anybody know what could cause the error?
Could it be some permissions that I didn't set on my server?
Thanks for my help and suggestions...

Hi,
I have application in which i am performing synchronization between SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 CE.
I have one table "ItemMaster" in my database.There is no relationship with this table,it is standalone.I am updating its values from Windows Mobile Device.
I am performing below operations for that.
Step : 1 Pull To Mobile
Code BlockmoSqlCeRemoteDataAccess.Pull("ItemMaster", "SELECT * FROM ItemMaster", lsConnectString,RdaTrackOption.TrackingOn);
Step : 2 Using one device form i am updating table "ItemMaster" table's values.
Step : 3 Push From Mobile
Code BlockmoSqlCeRemoteDataAccess.Push("ItemMaster", msConnectString);
So i am getting an error on 3rd step.
While i am trying to push it says,
"The Push method returned one or more error rows. See the specified error table. [ Error table name = ]".
I have tried it in different ways but still i am getting this error.
Note : Synchronization is working fine.There is not issue with my IIS,SQL CE & SQL Server 2k.
Can any one help me?I am trying for that since last 3 days.

Hi,
I have a strange problem with calling packages from c# code. Packages start to execute, but never finish. Instead an error occures in eventlog:
(message is translated into english so it can sound a bit different)
Erring application AppName.exe, version 1.0.0.0, timestamp 0x4784c811, erring module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6000.16386, timestamp 0x4549d372, exception code 0xc0000374, error shift 0x00000000000c87b7, process ID 0x1284, application start time 0x01c852ceb26bbad3.
In debuger, execution stoppes on line "DTSExecResult res = dtsPkg.Execute();", but no error is showed.
This behaviour occured unexpectally. Application worked correctly and in a minute I wasn´t able to execute any package from an application. I also tryed it from another computer and got the same error. Calling packages directly from management studio works fine.
OS:
Windows Vista Bussiness 64b
Code:
Package dtsPkg = new Package();
Variables variables = dtsPkg.Variables;
Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application dtsApp = new Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application();
dtsPkg = dtsApp.LoadFromSqlServer(@"\PackageName", "server", null, null, null);
dtsPkg.InteractiveMode = true;
dtsPkg.DebugMode = true;
dtsPkg.LoggingMode = DTSLoggingMode.Enabled;
dtsPkg.VariableDispenser.LockOneForWrite("FilePath", ref variables);
Variable pathVar = variables[0];
pathVar.Value = filePath;
variables.Unlock();
DTSExecResult res = dtsPkg.Execute();
I will be grateful for any ideas

I've got a CLR stored proc I'm trying to deploy to SQL2005, when I try to debug it I get the error message:
Method, property or field 'usp_Evaluate_eTranscript' of class 'ACS_eTranscripts.StoredProcedures' in assembly 'ACS_eTranscripts' is not static.
The class & procedure are declared:

When I change the sub's declaration to:
Static Sub usp_Evaluate_eTranscript(ByVal SSN As String)
I get an error message that:
Methods cannot be static.
So, is this a Catch 22 or what am I missing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is a major project and I am woefully behind because of emergency surgery.

Hi, I've got the error message below:

I'm using SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition and still cannot solve the problem although the KB article (920272) said it is fixed in V3.1.
What I need to do is to drop a table and then Pull it again to the PDA but it gives me that error message during pull method. However, I can use the same process to drop and pull other tables and works fine. Will that be the problem related to primary key or to the data of the table?
Please help!! Thx.

I'm trying to create a few report models in Visual Studio to demonstrate the Report Builder tool and I'm encountering an issue when I try to generate a Report Model.
I get the error message "Specified Method Is Not Supported" when I click Finish on the Report Model wizard. The error detail is:
===================================
Specified method is not supported. (Microsoft Visual Studio)
------------------------------
Program Location:
at Microsoft.ReportingServices.ModelDesigner.Wizards.ChooseSemanticModelName.CreateSqlDsvStatisticsProvider(IDbConnection connection)
at Microsoft.ReportingServices.ModelDesigner.Wizards.ChooseSemanticModelName.BuildModel()
Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new Report Model project in Visual Studio 2005 against SQL Server 2005
2. Create a new data source. The data source was tested and works correctly
3. Create a new data source view. The data source view was also tested (clicked on Explore Data) and I was able to look at the data in the view
4. Right-click on Report Models and select "Add New Report Model"
5. Click next at the welcome screen
6. Select the data source view created in #3
7. Leave the selected options for report model generation rules for creating the data source view
(Create Entities for all Tables, Create Count Aggregates, Create Attributes, Create Attributes for auto-increment columns, Create date variations, Create numeric aggregates, Create date aggregates, Create roles were all selected)
8. Click next
9. Select Update Model Statistics Before Generating (default option)
10. Click next
11. Click Run
Once I click run it processes for approx 3 seconds and then returns the error above.
If anyone could help me I'd appreciate it. Microsoft hasn't published any details on the namespace and I'm not sure why I'd be getting the error I am.
Thanks in advane,
Maurice

Hello,
I have a Data Flow Task within an SSIS package where data is pulled from a Fixed Width flat file, goes through a conditional split, and sends data either to a SQL Server 2000 table, or to another fixed width flat file.
The first condition in the conditional split checks for the following; [Column 44] + [Column 45] != "D1" . If this is true, then those rows go to a SQL Server 2000 table destination. If false, then the rows go to another flat file.
The SQL Server 2000 table has a unique nonclustered index with ignore_dup_key. From what I can tell, it looks like the step fails when a duplicate record is encountered. However, it appears that the unique records still go into the table.
When I check the 'Progress' tab of the package, the following steps seem to be suspect;
[Populate Staging [786]] Information: The final commit for the data insertion has started.
[Populate Staging [786]] Error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Duplicate key was ignored.".
[Populate Staging [786]] Information: The final commit for the data insertion has ended.
[DTS.Pipeline] Error: The ProcessInput method on component "Populate Staging" (786) failed with error code 0xC0202009. The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running.
[DTS.Pipeline] Error: Thread "WorkThread0" has exited with error code 0xC0202009.
[DTS.Pipeline] Information: Post Execute phase is beginning.
..and..
Task 2 Isolate Suspect Records and Insert Known Good Records failed
In one case, the source flat file had 74,101 rows. Each row tested true in the conditional split, and all but one row made it into the SQL Server table. The step failed, and the 'Progess' section containted the entries mentioned above.
The Connection Manager for the SQL Server table destination uses the Native OLE DBMicrosoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server.
Is the 'error' that occurs when a duplicate row is encountered causing the Data Flow task to fail, or could it be something else?
Thank you for your help. Please let me know if you need more information.
