Can't Change Name Of Report
Dec 14, 2006
Good Morning Guys,
Can anybody tell me how to change the name Property of a report on the Report Server?
When im using the standard Webpage, i can change all the properties i want.
But when i try the same in code. Changing the name property gets me a read-only exception.
The description does change but i actually want the name to change.
public string setProperties(string property,string value, string itemPath)
{
try
{
Property[] props = new Property[1];
Property setProp = new Property();
setProp.Name = property;
setProp.Value = value;
props[0] = setProp;
rpServer.SetProperties(itemPath, props);
}
catch (SoapException ex)
{
throw ex;
}
return "";
}
Is there an easy way around this, or do i have to solve it by creating a new report with a new name, and delete the old one?
Thanks in advance,

I am working on reports in SSRS 2008 (not R2)... There are some reports with parameters that are hidden when the report is accessed through normal URL using ReportViewer.asx..The thing is that these hidden parameters need to be visible when the report is accessed using SSRS Report Manager.

Hi,
Is it possible to turn a server report created using report builder (with all the smdl and dsv stuff) into a report
that is viewable using the Reportviewer ASP.Net control in _local_ mode? I need this because I'm trying to replace
the datasource used in creating the report by another one for viewing the report.
Thanks in advance,
Otmar

Hi!
I've created a report with Report Builder using a Model. I want to keep the same report, but I have to use another model (this model is almost the same as previous one, except that it has some extra tables).
I tried to change my report's model from Report Manager (Report_Name -> Properties -> Data Sources), but it didn't work.
Any suggestions?
Best regards.

I develop some application using SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 to Russian customers. They usually don't know English well. That's why I really want to change phrase "Report is being generated" to Russian words.
How can I do it? I tried to fing this phrase in configuration files or registry but there wasn't success.

Hello,
I use Reporting Services in my solution. The data i have as source is very uncertain. Sometimes i manually have to delete a record from the report (not the database itself). I woluld like to have a checkbox or something simular to delete from report and totals, grafs would be updated. At the same time I would like the report to make a comment that a record was taken away, alternative let the user make a comment. Is this possible? DO i have to make a own application for that?
Thank you for your help!
Best regards,
Luskan

Hi, all experts here,
Thanks a lot for your kind attention.
I am on the layout page, and click on the body, going to the body property dialogue, there is a size property there, I changed its width and height, but it is not changed at all? I mean once I save it, it is back to its orginal size? Why is that? Any advices for that?
Hope my question is clear.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.
And I am looking forward to hearing from you shortly.
With best regards,
Yours sincerely,

Hi all. Looking for information on whether or not the control/navigation bar that appears at the top of the report view can be changed. I am specifically looking to remove it and assign its controls to other .net or html controls/objects. For example, the control bar has the arrow for viewing the next page. Instead of that, perhaps I might like to have a hyperlink etc somewhere else on the page that performs the same functionality. I have searched and searched for information on this but haven't been having much luck. It's kind of a difficult thing to search for due to ambiguous key words "control bar" "navigation" etc.
Not looking for specific info as to how to go about doing it, more like: what is possible and where can I go to find the specifics.
Thanks so much in advance,
Jeff

Hi,
I have a question about passing user information into a report. Right now I have a travel report that accepts trip ID as a parameter. I have multiple users who will access this report through active directory and I think using tripID is too constricting for them. Ideally, I want them to pick their name from a list and pick the travel date(s) that they want to print out.
How can I make the report read in their username from Active Directory and pass this along to the report so that it'll automatically apply a filter the report. Then from a pull-down list, pick the travel date(s) that they're interested. Is this even possible?
Thanks,
Curtis111

One of our Sales Reps is having issues with a report I've made and as far as I know he's the only one (Out of about 50) who has had this issue. He's running IE 7. What happens is he'll enter in the parameters and run the report and it works fine. But when he goes to change the dates he entered as parameters and then clicks "View Report" again to run the report again, the browser just redisplays the same results and doesn't even generate a new report. It appears as if the browser has cached his previously ran report and then just redisplays it instead of going back to the server and re-generating the report. Has anyone seen this before or have any ideas? I appreciate it.

I have a report that I want to setup as cached on the server.
As I understand it to do this I need to use stored credentials in the report's data source so that the report always runs with the same credentials.
Now how can I do this for a report that already exists?
I created a new Shared DataSource that has the credentials I want to use, but I can't seem to change the data source a report uses.

Hi,
I have a reporting services report that i show in an asp.net page by a reportviewer control.
Is there a property that i can set in my asp.net page, to change the query for changing the data in my report.
The number and names of the columns will be the same.
I should work with parameters, but the query changes more than just a few where-clauses. So i think working with parameters looks impossible.
Thanks,

I've a SSRS report with the details in regards to shipping information. Currently in my report the 'Scheduled Ship Date' is set to following Monday, if we miss the 'Requested Delivery Date'. However, I need to change this report to set shipment date('Scheduled Ship Date') to Tuesday and Friday for the shipment having 'Requested Delivery Date' for this week or next week(current week and next week).
For example- Jobs that have shipment date between 3/1/2015 - 3/7/2015 will have 'Scheduled Ship Date' as Tuesday and Friday of current week. If we miss the shipment for this week it should be scheduled for next Tuesday(3/9/2015) and Friday (3/13/2015). I need to follow this for current week(3/1/2015-3/8/2015) and following week(3/9/2015-3/15/2015) and after that all the following weeks will have 'Scheduled Ship Date' as Tuesdays.

Firstly I should say my Reporting Services were working fine until I changed a setting in IIS today - under the Virtual Directory for the site I clicked Properties>ASP.NET>Edit Configuration. Changed 'Authentication' to Forms and everything went wrong; changing it back to Windows made no difference.
Now when trying to navigate to Report Server / Report Manager I get these errors:
RS : An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) Get Online Help Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
RM: The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer.
Following advice found elsewhere on the web, I checked my web.config file for an an erroneous xmlns entry... but it wasn't there. I have also deleted/recreated my virtual directories from within IIS/RSC. Also I have done a basic reinstall of Reporting Services (from within Add/Remove Programs>Change).
Below are my error logs and the listings for my web.config files; hopefully these will be of use in working out where the problem lies - I really need to get this fixed as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance,
Dan

Hello All,
I have designed some reports and kept these reports in the report server.
My question is: I want to change report header and footer values dynamically and save the new values in the report template, when the user enters new velues in ASP.NET GUI.
Next time if the user opens the same file the report should display the recent values.
Please help me in passing the parameters from ASP.NET app to SQL Reports and saving the parameters in the report template.
Thanks,

Is it possible to use a ReportViewer control (or something in .net) to change connection strings of a report's datasources?
The connection string comes from a shared data source, so using an expression for the connection string in the actual report is out.
Essentially, I'm looking to tack on Analysis Services cube role(s) to the connection string to change data permissions. If there's another way to do this with a RS report, I'm all ears.

I have built an SSRS report and fetching my data from an ERP system, previously we have done the same way and the reports are working fine, but only one report which is also working fine but when the values displayed in Preview or Excel, we cannot see values in Excel, when we click on the cell we can see the values in formula bar, but not in the cell. When we select the cell and change the color it will then display the values. In this report many of the values are displayed correctly, but some are not displayed, so every time we need to change the color of entire report. This is causing issues to the end users.

I'm having trouoble with changing my report name when I swtich to different parameter values.
I use the following expression.
IIf(Parameters!GroupVar1.Label = "CBank", "CBank", IIf(Parameters!GroupVar1.Value ="DTC","DTC","Total"))
This works fine when I clear Mutli-Value box in paramter properties. but when I use multi-value, this does not work.
Is there any solution for this?

I am fairly new to reporting services and recently created a simple tabular report. There is one table which queries the database and I would like to change the table so there are more than 25 rows of data per page. How do I do this? Also it would be advantageous to know how to set the report to only create a new page for every different item in a column. E.g., if I have various data for each date, I would like to only create a new page when the date changes so that all data for a specific date is on one page etc etc.

Hi,
I am currently trying to figure out how to change the background colour of a cell when that row happens to be a subtotal
I have included a screen shot of my report design below:
(The link to the image is http://diagnostic.iipuk.co.uk/images/RS_Questions.JPG should the image not be displayed)
When the cell that is circled is on a subtotal row (i.e. is the subtotal of either the first subtotal (which I have called RegionTot) or the second subtotal (which I have called QCTotal) I want the background colour to change to black). This is so the user cannot see the subtotal for that column on the screen.
I have tried using the following expression in the background colour property for that cell (without success!):
=IIf(ReportItems!QCTotal.Value = "Total", "Black", "White")
The error that comes up states that report item expressions can only refer to other report items within the same grouping scope or a containing grouping scope.
I have searched help and haven€™t managed to find anything!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
