I was working on a flat file import spec yesterday, using the import wizard, and I saved my work as a SSIS package. Today, if I connect to Integration Services through SQL Management Studio, I can see the package, but I can't edit it. I've tried to open the package using BIDS, but I can't find it on the server. Obviously it exists, but where?
How the heck can I edit this package? And, where is it? I don't understand why things are so much more difficult in 2005 vs. 2000.
I created a few in SqlServer2005 DEV version and ran them manually with success. But where are they? I chose the SqlServer storage option and I see them when I create Job and steps but how do I view/edit these packages from SqlServer Mgmt. Studio? The SSIS service is running.
I have created a simple maintenance plan in SQL Studio. When I double-click on the task boxes (ie 'Rebuild Index', 'Backup') to just make changes or to look, I get the following message:
Cannot show editor for this task
Additional information:
Exception from HRESULT: 0xC0010014 (Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSRuntimeWrap)
I also cannot save any change that I make in the schedule of the plan.
I HAVE installed Integration Services, which at least enabled me to initially SAVE the plan. I just can't edit the tasks or change the schedule.
Thanks to Sean for helping me find the migrated packages. I'd like to edit one of the connections on a bunch of packages that I migrated. I see in the Run Package there are configuration options that would allow me to mofify the connection string at that point in time, but I would like to modify the package so it has the new connection string. I was thinking I could access it in BI Dev studio, but I'm not sure how to get to it. I suppose I could migrate to a file and then edit the file prior to importing, but I'm curious if there's a way I can modify the packages that show up under Integration Services/Stored Packages/MSDB.
I am trying to restore a file that was created using Database Maintanence Wizard on a server that is now totally crashed.
I want to use T-SQL to restore the physical file to a new name and location. Using the backup command, I get the error that I must use the with move option??
What are the required steps to restore from a physical file (with a bak extention)???
I do not know the original database/log file names. Any advice?
I built a packaage in SSIS with the import/export utility. It created a Package.dtsx and Package1.dtsx. Both of these files seem to be XML files. I want to understand how these files work. For example, in the package I built I had about 80 tables exporting and importing data. Some of them I want to allow the identiy insert and delete the rows first. Others I want to append the data. How can I find the code or settings that does this? Or where can I find the options on the gui interface to change these settings. When I search the code I can't even find a some of the tables that are being transferred.
I have a table need to export to excel. 3 columns are 4000k. I can create the ssis package by using import and export wizard and it works fine. But when I try to edit the destination connection for excel, like using another excel file. In the edit window, the Name of the Excel Sheet box is empty, I click new button. It always fail. (with the 3 columns created as varchar (4000) or nvarchar(4000).
I am wondering how import and export wizard can create this table which I can't create it manually?
I needed to recreate/publish a DDL and data file(of a database) that was produced using Database Publishing Wizard. The size of the file is 4G. I receive the following error when I try to open it up in the new query window of sql server 2005 (sp2)for execution.
"The operation could not be completed. Not enough storage is available to complete this operation."
I know my server has 829G of free storage space available. i receive no errors when I open up a smaller file also created by database publishing wizard.
HI, I created a dts package using my Windows NT authentication. One of my colleague edited that package last week and when I tried to open it now, it gives me an error message "The system cannot find the file specified". The package still has my NT id as the owner. Could anyone please let me know why is this happening ??? My colleague is still able to edit my package. My NT id and my colleague NT id both are setup as administrators on the sql server. Any help is greatly appreciated.
OK, I've figured out how to create and schedule my packages. now I want to go back in and redefine some of the options. How can I get at it so i can edit it.
This is probably a st00p1d n00b question, but here goes:
I have a DTS package that I got from someone else, but it needs to be edited. It was set as a local package, but when I double-click it in Enterprise Manager and edit it, then save and quit, I can go right back in and changes are gone, as if it was never edited.
Well, lo and behold, I got the bright idea to edit the package using Notepad, then bring the package back into Enterprise Manager. Now it says it can't do it because it's no longer a DTS Package. Fortunately, I have another unmodified copy, or I would have really thrown out the baby with the bathwater.
So my question is: What do I need to use to edit the package offline, then be able to bring it back into Enterprise Manager as a valid DTS Package?
I found a problem in the SQL that's a part of a SSIS package written by a third party, which is in our SQL Server 2008 R2 database. I've discussed this with the third party person; she's given me the necessary changes to the SQL. But I don't know what to do next. We've got this package on a test database server. I've got SSIS open to Stored Packages and have drilled down to the necessary folders to find it. But beyond that I don't know what to do. I understand that BIDS is involved, but that's as far as my understand of it goes.
I have used the wizard to import a DTS package from a SQL 2000 server to our new SQL 2005 server and need to make edits to reference the new server and database. I am able to see the package within the SQL Management studio under Integration Services, but I cannot find it in the Development studio?
p.s. Does anyone have any needles I can borrow? I think sticking them in my eyes would be nicer than working with SSIS.

We are on SQL Server 2000 SP2 version. I have 3 DTS packages that are running successfully every day. We need to change them as the source side tables are going to be changed pretty soon. When I go into the designer view Enterprise Manager hangs when I do any of the following:
1. click on Properties for the transformation task 2. Click on Disconnected Edit 3. Click on Properties of connection 1(IBM DB2/400 Source), properties window pops up, now change the userid/pwd and click ok.
Is it possible to open a package that is saved to a server??
The reason being is I develop on desktop but some of the development I cannot do due to access restrictions.... So I want to save the package to the server then do the final creation there...
I created a package via the import wizard in SQL Server Management Studio. When I test-ran the package I realised it needed to be modified. How do I do this without using either Visual Studio, SSIS Designer or an XML editor, none of which is installed where the package was created? Ideally I want to hear that there's a way of redisplaying the package in the import wizard.
I loaded the import/export wizard into my Tools menu. I ran it and exported a view to an excel worksheet with mixed results (I got the headings, but no data). I want to take a look at the package that should have been created (I selected that option, but the export didn't complete and I couldn't decipher the log to determine whether the package was created). If it was successfully created, where would I find it in SQL 2005 Express?
I "upgraded" to Windows 10 (I was installing a new c: drive anyway). I installed SQL Server & SSIS, Visual Studio 2012, SQL Server Data Tools 2012, etc. When I try to load up my project (.sln) in SQL Data Tools I get the following warnings/errors:
Warning 1 Warning loading DataImport.dtproj: Warning: Failed to decrypt an encrypted XML node. Verify that the project was created by the same user. Project load will attempt to continue without the encrypted information.
Warning 2 Warning loading DataImport.dtproj: Warning: Failed to decrypt sensitive data in project with a user key. You may not be the user who encrypted this project, or you are not using the same machine that was used to save the project. If the sensitive data is a parameter value, the value may be required to run the package on the Integration Services server.

This occurs when CPackage::LoadFromXML fails.
As well as installing Windows 10, I had also renamed by computer. I have tried renaming it back (I noticed some references to the computer name in the xml), but no difference.Have I installed the wrong versions of one of the software? If so, how could I check which one I need to install (to match the VS project/dts package)?
I am trying to execute three dts packages from a Job that I created. When creating the steps I am setting the Type To: Operating System Command(CmdExec).
The Command I am using is: dtsrun /S servername /E /dtsPackageName
For some reason whenever I try to run thes jobs it fails. Within this Job I have three steps. For each step I am using the same job but with a different package name. I have a trusted connection so my command should work just fine. What am I doing wrong. Can some please explain this process.
I have about 100 DTS packages and they were created by a user who has left the company. Now I( the new user)am trying to open the packages from another client machine and trying to save them back. I am connecting to SQL server where the packages are stored using NT authentication(domain account). When I try to save the package, I get the following error
Ole DB, Only the owner of the DTS package "packagename", or a member of the sysadmin role can create new versions of it".
What I have tried is that I can save the same package with a new name without being a member of the sysadmin role but I cannot save the package with the same name. ANy help will be greatly appreciated.
I created a SSIS Package programatically based on the few threads here in this forum. This package just has a data flow task, during data transfer for every 1000 rows or so I want to update the status in a table in the database.
How do I achieve this?
As of now I just have a source and a destination, no transformations in between the flow. I'm not sure if rowcount will help, when I tried it using a onprogress even handler it always showed up as zero.
I've begun to get the above error from my package. The error message refers to two output columns.
Anyone know how this could happen from within the Visual Studio 2005 UI? I've seen the other posts on this subject, and they all seemed to be creating the packages in code.
Is there any way to see all of the columns in the data flow? Or is there any other way to find out which columns it's referring to? Thanks!
Hi. I've created a number of packages in SSIS which just make temp tables out of views. I did them with the "Optimize for many tables" and "Run in transaction" boxes checked.
Now I'm trying to port them over to another database on another server. I'm first going through the Package Configuration Wizard. When I try to finish the wizard I get a error with the following message:

I don't know how to resolve it. Anyone?
One way to deal with this particular issue would be just to recreate the SSIS package on the other server. The issue with this is I want to be positive which view I'm making a copy of and I'm not currently. Since the Import/Export has the transaction setting checked, I can't seem to determine what the source was. Help?
In Visual Studion I invoke the wizard, indicate the source for the DTS packages and pick a folder for the migrated package but I don't get a list of my source packages. Instead, I get the error message, 'index out of range, must be non negative, parameter name index(mscorlib)'.
Has anyone ever gotten this error. What does it mean and how can I fix it?
