Can anyone tell me why I can't find Reporting Services when I try to install SQL Server Express with Advanced Services?

Hi there,
I have Vista Ultimate and have installed IIS. I downloaded and installed - sucessfully - on a XP Pro (SP2) version, however when I try and install on Vista Ultimate, the installation wizard warns me that IIS is not installed, or running.
I am in the proccess of migrating to Vista and SQL server 2000 is not compatible with Vista. (or so the installation warns me).
I would prefer to use SQL Server 2000 as I know that the data import and export facilities work fine.
When I tried to import data from a remote server, I connected fine, but cannot see how to import a full database and tables to my local server. I need this for my web development as most of the sites I work on use MS SQL Server.
Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Hans
I need to install Reporting Services on a machine.
Wehe can I find it ? (I have SQLServer Entreprise and Dev).
Is it included in SQLserver Ent or should I get another CD ?
Thanks
I have read an article about Reporting Services that was rather critical regarding a number of topics. But, this article was from 2005 and I assume that there have been some improvements in Reporting Services since then. Or?
If so, are there any good places where you can find the news? I haven€™t been able to find a good site for news in, in this case, Reporting Services.
I have a simple report with a row grouping on teh Date and record_id from an sql query. I would like to find the row total.
The expression I have on the row is:
=IIF(Max(Fields!closing.Value) > 0, Microsoft.VisualBasic.Interaction.IIF(Max(Fields!opening.Value) > 0, IIF(Max(Fields!closing.Value) > Max(Fields!opening.Value), Max(Fields!closing.Value) - Max(Fields!opening.Value), Nothing), Nothing), Nothing)
I have textboxes that work as checkboxes on my form. I have a stored procedure that brings a set of values back. I need to see if the specific values are in the dataset. If so, I put an X in the textbox if that value is in the dataset. How do I do this? [URL] .....

I came across a SQL 2000 instance with a report server database on it - looking at the execution log storage I can see that its still being used and running the following query tells me that the connections are coming from the same server: SELECT hostname, * FROM sysprocesses WHERE dbid = DB_ID ('ReportServer') but I cant find the SSRS instance in the services -Did it work differently with SQL 2000? How can I find the report manager URL?

I installed the SharepointRS.msi add-in and configured the Reporting Services to the sharepoint integration mode. After the installation ,I am supposed to find a new section in the Application management of Central Administration Tool of sharepoint called Reporting services. But i am not able to find that.

I have SQL Server 2012 SP2 x64 Express Advanced Services installed on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.
I cannot find the Report Builder download link for SQL Server 2012 SP2 x64 Express Advanced Services on Windows 10 Pro.
Shouldn't the Report Builder link be for SQL Server 2012 SP2 and x64 bit in order to work with SQL Server 2012 SP2 x64 Express Advanced Services on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit?The only Report Builder 3.0 links I have found have been x86 (32 bit) and SP1.
I wrong a custom code in my report - Public shared Function Myfunc and in the header textbox - I tried to reference this code = Code.Myfunc.... the Myfunc gives an error Unrecognized identifier. The code is written in the report properties = Code Tab.

Hello,
I am trying to migrate my reports from SQL server 2000 reporting services 32bit to 2005 64bit. I am following the migration steps that MS specified.
Restored my Reportserver and ReportserverTempDB databases
Then I was using the configure Report services to upgrade these databases but I always end up getting the follwoing exception when I run the upgrade on the "Database Setup" configuration for 'ReportServerTempDB' database
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database 'ReportServerTempDBTempDB'. No entry found with that name. Make sure that the name is entered correctly.

It's driving me crazy, why is it looking for 'ReportServerTempDBTempDB' in the catalog instead of 'ReportServerTempDB'?
Is it possible to migrate from 32bit to 64bit?
Any help is appreciated
I have installed Client part of SQL Server Managment Studio on my local desk top to connect to my servers.
Question is that is it better to replace it with SQL Express Advanced? What is the difference between these two?

For a program written in VB .net 05...
We are upgrading our customers from MSDE to SQL Express 2005 (SQLEXPR32.EXE - not the advanced services version). However, I accidently via PCAnywhere installed the advanced version (SQLEXPR_ADV.exe); and, to make things more interesting, we want to change the name of the Server Instance from the default of SQLExpress.
I have asked in this newsgroup before, and was told that if the Advanced Services are not used, then it does not matter that it was installed on a computer without IIS. It will simply function the same as SQL Express 2005. I presume that is correct (and seems to be by experience).
Question 1) To install a new named instance, I have to run the .EXE over again. What happens if I run SQLEXPR32.EXE for a new instance when I have already run SQLEXPR_ADV.exe for the existing instance of SQLExpress? Which should I use for the new instance when I really want SQLEXPR32.EXE installed?
Question 2) Additionally, I understand how to remove an SQL instance, but how do you remove the program itself, ie SQL Express with Advanced Services? Either version of SQL Express only seems to allow you to remove instances, not the program itself.
Question 3) Does SQL Express with Advanced Servies install additional programs to manage the SQL, or does it give extra features that can be used in programing, or both?
Thanks
Bob
Does the _adv version of the .exe file support all the same command line switches as the basic version? Or is there an easy way to include reporting services on the basic one without going up to the _adv one?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to obtain a cost effective solution for my existing customers to develop reports on their SQL 2000 Server installations using their Reporting Services 2000. With products like Visual Basic.NET 2003 becoming almost impossible to obtain, I have at least one customer who is running into a dead end.
One option possibly is the SQL Express with Advanced Services download, which has Reporting Services. My questions are as follows:
Can the report designer component of SQL Express Reporting Services be configured to connect to an external database (which would happen to be a SQL 2000 database) to establish its datasets?
Does the resultant designed report end up in an RDL file? If the customer published this report via the Reporting Services 2000 Report Manager, would the report be able to run?
Sorry for asking a question like this that I could probably answer on my own, but my customer needed this answer yesterday. I have scoured the web and microsoft sites - and posted a question on the official SQL Reporting Services cateogy ... in an attempt to answer the basic question of how to design reports for Reporting Services 2000 in the absence of Visual Basic.NET 2003 (or other .NET 2003 tools) with no success.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Running SQLEXPR_ADV.EXE against Windows XP SP0 causes the setup to exit gracefully with a message indicating the the right service pack is not installed.
However, running SQLEXPR_ADV.EXE against Windows XP SP1 does not exit and continues to install. Then, when you try to run a script against the installation, you get the message:
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBMSLPCN][SQL Server does not exist or access denied].
This will become very problematic when installing SQL Server Express as the database for small installations.
The setup really needs to be updated to look for all the system requirements that it can detect. Evidently it can detect the Service Packs. The Wise Installer is not able to script that requirements unless there is some way to make the Windows Installer look for it that is not documented.

I assume the answer to my question is yes, but just in case...
Is the SQLEXPR_ADV.EXE adapted to install appropriately on both 32-bit and 64-bit target systems?
Thanks in advance.
I'm trying to install SQL EXPRESS but I get this error message:
The SQL Server Configuration Checker cannot be executed due to WMI configuration on machine NDXT23ARC Error:2147749902(0x8004100e). What can I do?
I work in a big project and we will begin in using reporting services as the base technique for reports and I will be responsible for this part. but I have a problem I will discuss in the following:
Currently: We use currently devexpress reports and we have 2 languages(Arabic and English). the data in tables saved in two ways (Arabic and English). when the end user change the language of the web site the report data language changed when run it.
Example:
we have table with (ID, NAME_AR, NAME_EN, JobTitle_AR, JobTitle_EN). designed report will display(ID, NAME_EN, JobTitle_EN) . but the end user change the language of the system the report will
dispaly(ID, NAME_AR, JobTitle_AR)Â
Hint:this done pragmatically
how to do this in reporting services.
Hi There,
Our DBA has installed reporting services on a server and now in order to access the report manager, one has to be an Admin on that Server. I am guessing that there is a mistake in the configuration of Reporting Services. Usually it should allow anybody who was added to the roles in the properties section of the Report Manager, right? I have also added the users to the DB..
Also I am using Windows Authentication to access Report Catalog items (Reporting Services is installed on Server2) from a web Application(deployed on Server1) and displaying the report using report viewer. For some reason, server1 has to be in an Admin role on Server2 to access the report catalog/report. This is kinda strange for me as I don't want everybody to be an Admin on Server2. Can anybody please point in the right direction?
Thanks.
We have installed SQL Server 2005 with reporting services. When tried to open getting errors as below: how to avoid such errors See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWe've got a requirement to build the real time report. user can browse report at any point of time and need to see the latest data(stock market) in the report.
I've few options down...
1. Directly point to OLTP database as source and write stored procedure to show result set.
2. Replicate the database and write the SP's to reports. To avoid pointing directly to OLTP db.
3. To build the datawarehouse with dim & facts to show it in reports. I prefer this as a standard method, but this would have some latency depending on trasaction load which will differ from the requirement.
HI There
We are required to gather certain information regarding reporting services.
Which reports were requested, by whom , how long did they run for, what parameters were passed etc etc.
I see that the system tables do provide some of this information, is there a 3rd party tool or something we can use to gather all this type of information for us?
This is for reporting services 2000 and 2005.
Thanx
I wanted to add Reports Service to my sql express. I downloaded the SQLEXPR_ADV.EXE and also Edition Toolkit SP1. But can't see the option to install Report service.
Any help please.
