Can't Use A Dataset In My Script Component...reference Required...whats Going On?

Jul 30, 2007

Hi

Finding this forum really useful...I wonder if you could help me with this.

I've got a very simple script component and I just want to use a Dataset in it.

When I declare the Dataset i get a warning and then consequently an error. herers an image grab of whats happening:

http://www5.webng.com/hopelist/error.jpg

If you can't see the image please let me know.

Essentially VS gives me a hint to add a required assembly which it needs....but when I click to add I get a 'Visaul Basic Compiler has encountered a problem and needs to close' type error.

Anyone got any idea whats going on and why I'm having such a hard time just accessing a Dataset??

thanks

Andy

Reference To Preceeding Component From Custom Dataflow Transformation Component

Mar 30, 2006

I am writing a custom dataflow transformation component and I need to get the name of the preceeding component.

I have been trying to find a way to get a reference to the Package object, MainPipe object or IDTSPath90 object (connecting to the IDTSInput90 of my component) from my component because I think from there I can get to the information I want.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Script Component Isn't Finding A Reference Dll

Aug 31, 2006

I have created this c# dll for one of my packages and I was planning on calling it from the script component, but for some reason when I try to call it I get the following error.

Could not load file or assembly 'VRS.Utilities.Dates, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

I've dropped the dll file in the WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727 folder and it shows up when I go to add the reference however when I try to implement it I get the error.

Any idea's on how to fix this?

Thanks for the help

Script Component With MS.Office.Interop.Outlook Reference

Feb 14, 2008

HiHo,
I have a problem and hopefully some can help me. I googled already al lot but I haven't found the answer.

I would like to build a Source-Script Component with Acces to MS outlook (I use the Book "SSIS" from Kirk Haselden as a Guideline).

I downloaded and installed "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook" .
I can find it the GAC.

I also installed VSTO 2005 and even run the VSTO 2005 checker, which shows that everything is ok.

But when I try to add the reference to my project it isn't there.
While adding a reference I only see a ".net" tab.
From what I found so far there should be "com" tab, where I should find "MS.Office.Interop.Outlook".

Can some help me to make the reference ??

Best Regards
Chris

How To Reference ADO Object Source Variable Within Script Component?

Dec 7, 2007

Hello,
I have a 'ForEach Loop Container' that does a select from a table and I use Variable Mappings to map each row set result to Package Variables in SSIS. This works fine. However, in the Data Flow, I have a Script component in which I need to access the values of those variables that have been set in the ForEach Loop Container. How do I do this?

Perhaps I'm on the wrong track but I guess I need to access the ADO Object Source variable set in the ForEach Loop Container? Through my own experimentation, I know that accessing the VariableDispenser collection only returns whatever default values that happen to be assigned to the variables in the SSIS GUI (not the values assigned during each iteration of the ForEach Loop).

Thanks,
Clive

Script Component Throws Object Reference Not Set To An Instance Of An Object

Dec 27, 2007

Hello,

I've ran into trouble while creating a rather simple transformation script component (one input, one output). The only thing it has to do is test the values coming from it's input rows and set the values of the output rows according to some rules; something like:

Code Block

Public Overrides Sub InputBrowser_ProcessInputRow(ByVal Row As InputBrowserBuffer)

If Row.UserAgent.Contains("MSIE") Then 'test input
Row.BrowserName = "Internet Explorer" 'set output
End If

End Sub

This raises an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." exception. Commenting out the input (Row.UserAgent) solves the exception, but I actually do need to test the contents of the input row (and by leaving only the output manipulation, the script won't reach it's end, the components remain yellow). What can I do about this?

Thanks in advance!

Package works from my computer. But when I execute it on the server as a SQL Agent job, I get

The component metadata for "component "DataReader Source" (1) could not be upgraded to the newer version of the component. The PerformUpgrade method failed.

I copied the mdb file to a folder on the server which my packages have no problem reading data from.

My packages run under the same domain account as defined in proxies.

Use Of A SSIS Variable Of Type “Object Inside Script Component And Task Component

Mar 16, 2007

In a Data Flow, I have the necessity to use a SSIS variable of type €œObject€? inside Script Component and assign to it the content of 'n' variables of string type.
On exiting from the script the variable of type object should contain something like in the following lines:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB
CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC
DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
€¦€¦€¦€¦€¦€¦€¦.
€¦€¦€¦€¦€¦€¦€¦.
On exiting from the data flow I will use the variable of type Object in a Script Task, by reading each element in a cyclic fashion.
Is there anyone who have experienced something like this? Could anyone provide any example of that?
Thanks in advance!

A Custom Component For Use As A VIEW In SSIS- Is It Possible To Create One MERGE Like Component With More Than 2 Inputs

I'm into a project which uses a lot of views for joining 2 or more tables. Using the MERGE component in SSIS will be a huge effort coz it only has 2 inputs and I gotta SORT the input too.
Isnt it possible to have a VIEW like component that joins more than 2 tables and DOESNT need sorting??
(I've thought about creating views in database engine but it breaks my data floe in SSIS and is'nt a practical solution)

SQL Server 2008 :: Populate One Dataset In SSRS Based On Results From Another Dataset Within Same Project?

Dataset1 pulls property id's and other sales data from a table (2014_COST) based on the user's parameters. I have set up another table (AUDITS) that I would like to use in dataset6. This table has 3 columns (Property ID's, Sales Price and Sales Date). I would like for dataset6 to pull the Property ID's that are NOT contained in the results from dataset1. In other words, I'd like the results of dataset6 to show me the property id's that are contained in the AUDITS table but which are not being pulled into dataset1. Both tables are in the same database.

Integration Services :: Perform Lookup On Large Dataset Based On A Small Dataset

Oct 1, 2015

I have a small number of rows in a dataset, Table 1.  There is a CLOB on a large dataset, Table 2.  They join on a PK.  I would like to retrieve this CLOB and add it to the data flow for Table1.  In short I want to emulate the following:

Table 1:  Small table without CLOB, 10 rows.
Table 2: Large table with CLOB, 10,000,000 rows

select CLOB
from table2
where pk = (select pk from table1)

I want this to return the CLOBs for the small number of rows in Table 1.  The PK is indexed obviously so it should be a fast look up.

Table 1 and Table 2 live on different Oracle databases.  How do I perform this operation efficiently in SSIS?  It seems the Lookup and Merge Join wont do this.

Serious Script Component Bug - Clears Out All Code Inside Component

Nov 27, 2007

No idea where this bug crept in from. Have been using SSIS for 1.5 years now without hitting this problem.

I had a script component opening an XML document and parsing it using XPATH. I added some code that uses StreamReader / Streamwriter (closing one stream before starting the other). The code works without issue in my C# app.

And it ran without issue 2-3 times in SSIS. Then suddenly after running my package again, the script component says it completes successfully, yet nothing happens. I set a breakpoint on the first line of code - it never hits it. I add a msgbox as the first line of code - and it never displays.

I then close my package / exit out of ssis ... and then re-open it. When i open my script component, all of my code is GONE. All references that I added are gone.

I tried adding the streamreader/writer process to a dll I created from my c# app ... and added the DLL to the package -- same result.

I can reproduce this on 2 different computers.

Anyone experience this problem ? Any idea how to stop it ? Or debug it ?

Here is a slimmed down code sample of what causes the error :

Public Class ScriptMain
Public Sub Main()
Try
Dim xmlDoc As New XmlDocument
xmlDoc.Load("c:ulkasync_86281519_20070628045850225_4.xml")

End Sub
Private Sub UpdateXML(ByVal fileName As String, ByVal message As String)

D1 is a list of classes with classid and title

D2 is a list of data. each row in D2 has a classid. D2 may or may not have all the classids in D1. all classids in D2 must be in D1.

I want to show fields in D2 and group the data with classids in D1 and show every group as a seperate table. If no data in D2 is available for a classid, It shows a empty table.

Is there any way to do this in RS2005?

Whats Better?

Jul 20, 2005

<usualDisclaimer>Please forgive me if this is in the wrong group, and if so,what is the right group.</usualDisclaimer>Let me start off by first saying im a newb. Ok, with that out of the way Iam trying really hard and boy have I learned a lot in the last little whilebut I have a question i just can't seem to find a good answer to.Lets say i have a table that simply stores how many times someone has loggedinto a webpage. Is it better to store each login as a new record then countthe records or is it better to simply have one record that updates the totalvalue by incrementing that one field. I have read all manner of articlesand some say one way is better vs. the other but what I can't find is why?If I knew why one way was better than another then I could make and educateddecision and choose the best way that is right for me. Is updating more orless expensive then inserting? Does it matter and is a relevant question? And before anyone comments on my use of all uppercase letters for my tablename I do this so that my table names stand out within the sql serverenterprise manager. In other words system tables are lowercase and mytables are uppercase. People always seem to give me crap for this but neverback it up with a good explanation so far as I can tell its personalpreference? Am I wrong?CREATE TABLE USER_METRICS(-- here i can select all the records and count them up.ID INT IDENTITY(1,1) PRIMARY KEY,Email VARCHAR(250));-- Or this?CREATE TABLE USER_METRICS(-- and of course here can i simply retrieve the value of Total_LoginsID INT IDENTITY(1,1) PRIMARY KEY,Email VARCHAR(250) NOT NULL,Total_Logins INT);Regards,Muhd

DBO Or MDF Whats The Diffrence?

May 11, 2008

]First of all here is how i created my SQL database and established a connection in visual studio 05. I go into the server explorer and right click on the data connections node and and select "create new SQL database". A window then prompts me for a server name and data base name. Under server name I write "localhostSQLEXPRESS" and under data base name I put in whatever. This totally worked and the database was asigned the extension of .DBO
I can now insert, select and delete information with some simple ADO coding. The only problem is that using this method makes it seamingly impossible to FTP my database onto my host server.  I am aware that I can create a data base in the APP folder by simply right clicking it and selecting " new database".
This would simplify the deploying process but I cant seem to establish a connection this way. Ive also noticed that when I use this method that it saves it as a .MDF instead of a .DBO. What is the difference? Why does my .DBO work but not my .MDF in my app folder? Im so confused over this issue that I am problably not even asking the right question. Bottom line is that I have a small web application with a .dbo database that works wonderfully in my isolated visual studio environment and I need a solution to deploy it on the world wide web.  Please help with any information I would be very thankfull.

I've recently created a shopping cart system that uses SQL Server on the backend. The shopping cart will add a record to a table called CartEvents each time anything happens, like view item, update, delete etc. anyhow, the site has been up for about a week now and that particular table has about 4200 records already, I project tens of thousands of records in that table, so how many records is too many records? Whats your experience with tables that have hundreds of thousands of records? How many records can SQL server handle and still perform well?

Thanks
