SQL mobile apps like - .Net Frame work, SQLCE mobile etc - can they be install on the Storage Card? I am running out of space on my Verizon 6700 and don't have enought memory to install on the device. I cleaned up as much as I could still not enough space on the device.
Using shared folder in windows mobile 5 emulator, it is not possible to create a database (sqlserver mobile 2005) in the emulated storage card.
The error "sql mobile made an unsupported request to the host operating system. Minor Err 25133 is raised. Reading or writing file from/to the emulated storage card occurs without error.
I have built an application for storing my flight times on my phone after each leg of a trip... I am using C# and Sql CE as the storage system for later export to a larger desktop version (in the works). My question is related to storing the sdf file on the storage card. Can it be done and what would the connection string look like since I have tried and got a error stating it can't find the sdf file in question. I have it setup right where if I were to do a fresh install it would ask for the install directory main memory or storage card. If I select storage card it installs just fine but when I run the app it does fail with the aforementioned error..
My team is currently building a system for the Windows CE 5.0 platform that uses a SQL CE database to synchronize with a SQL Server 2005 database. During this synchronization process, the application needs to pull down a good bit of data and it reaches its cap for memory. A possible solution for this is to use an SD card for storing the database. However, when the Synchronization process is run, the following SQL Exception Occurs:
HResult = -2147467259 Message = "SQL Mobile encountered problems when creating the database." NativeError = 28558 Source = "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition" StackTrace = at System.Data.SqlServerCe.NativeMethods.CheckHRESULT() at System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeReplication.AddSubscription() Our Trace at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick() at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WnProc() at System.Windows.Forms.Control._InternalWnProc() at Microsoft.AGL.Forms.EVL.EnterMainLoop() at System.Windows.Forms.Application.Run() Main
The connection string we're using for the Mobile Database is "data source=Storage CardDatabase.sdf"
Has anyone ever had any problems when trying to perform Merge/Replication on expandable Flash Memory and if so, how did you solve them?
I develop a app on PPC 4.20 using SQLServer 3.1. I developed a o/r mapper whitch auto-creates the Database and Tables using attribute-decorated objects. That all works fine - as long as my Database is in \MyDocuments . Trying to store the Database in \Storage Card\test.sdf, whitch is absolut neccessary because it will become to big for storing onto device, I get error 25113, "A not supportes operation to host was called" (Translated from German)
When I trie to copy a Database to the SD-Card, inserts are not commited.
Is it not supported to store Databasefiles on a Flashcard?
My development-environment is .net 2.0 sp2, device-emulator v2, Windows XP, vs2005. In the emulator, i have linked a windows-based directory as storagecard.
What am I doing wrong??

I am a Windows developer for the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Server (TSMS) product. Our product installation is built with InstallShield and uses the Windows Installer.
On a new installation of Windows 2003 x64 Storage Server R2, at a customer's site, the TSMS product fails to install. The install of the OS has version 3.01.400.3959 of the Windows Installer and I see no newer version that installs.
Part of our product is 32 bit (console) and another part is x64 (server). When installing I can see that the install's default is being redirected/reset to C:Program Files (x86)TivoliTSM after it is explicitly set by a custom action to ..Program Files.. . I further observe that our custom actions to write 64 bit registry entries are being refused.
REGSAM samMask = KEY_ALL_ACCESS; if ( regIsWow64Process () ) samMask = samMask | KEY_WOW64_64KEY; lStatus = RegCreateKeyEx( hLocalConnectKeyRoot, szSubkey, 0L, NULL, REG_OPTION_NON_VOLATILE, samMask, NULL, hKey, &dw ) ; The above fails to create the key.
We have tried four versions of our TSMS spanning many changes but the install acts the same. This does not happen on any other Windows OS we test on but we do not test on Windows 2003 Storage Server R2 being that it is an OEM product. We did test on Windows server 2003 R2 x64 and do not see this problem.
Do you have any suggestions on how to tackle this problem? I have full installation traces but can only see that the registry work is being refused. I can't see why.
I am a complete loss, here is what I have tried. I uninstalled what I thought was Sql Mobile and downloaded and installed SqlMobile30DeviceSDKENU.msi. I have the following directory structure I have tried to install the files marked with <==== each time I have seen the pda tell me that SQL MObile 2005 was installed but no ISQL under programs and when I run ISQL on the PDA and try to contect to a database it tells me the provider is not found and that SQL mobile is not installed correctly.
What am I doing wrong?????

According to the SSCE mobile docs If I reference System.Data.SqlServerce and deploy to either the device or the emulator VS2005 checks that the correct dlls are set as a function of deploying. Well I guess I don't need to tell you that is not happening.
I'm trying to install SQL Mobile from a Windows XP SP machine to a Dell Axim X51v mobile device.
I've read the installation procedures and I've been unable to locate the cab files. I have located "DLLs" and Zip files but no CAB files. Where else might I find the CAB files?
I have something called Configure Web Synchronization Wizard under my SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition on my XP machine. My problem is that I need to install it on a Windows 2000 machine and I can't find the installation package for it. I installed SQL Server 2005, which installed SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition, but I didnt' get the wizard. I also installed Visual Studio 2005.
How to implement distinct storage tiers on SQL Remote BLOB Storage (RBS)?
I want to use this SQL Feature to move files(images, videos, pdf files) from a database to a distinct database dedicated to RBS. Then I want to have several storage tiers, where objects will be saved and moved according access frequency. Old data will be arquived in cheap storage, but it must be always accessible if needed.
Description: - 1st and main tier: new and frequently accessed objects stored in high performance storage; - 2nd tier: automatically move older or less accessed objects to an inexpensive and different storage tier; - in all cases, all objects must be accessible to all users, but accessing to archived objects(2nd tier) will be much slower;
I don't understand why I am having this error. It does create the database on AddSubscription() method but it is failing opening the database on Synchronise(). I have also tried uninstalling and then reinstalling all the SQL Mobile components in the following order.
suggested that this problem could be circumvented by getting the replication object early and then continuously using the same object for subsequent replications.
I did this and it works a lot better now but ever so often I get another error which is
Native Error 28559 SQL Mobile encountered problems when opening the database
My only option at this point is to stop and start the application which cures the problem.
I am developping a non-managed C++ application for PocketPC using a SQL Server mobile database.
The application is compiled for PocketPC 2003 and uses SQL Server Mobile v2. I use Visual Studio 2005. But I need to compile the application for Windows Mobile 5.0 devices. So I installed the WM5 SDK and had the WM5 into my project configuration.
The "ssceoledb.h" which I include incluses the "transact.h" file. But my problem is that this file is only provided with the PocketPC 2003 SDK and not in the WM5 SDK. So I cannot use the WM5 configuration project with SQL Server. I also tried with the last SQL Server Mobile 2005 (ie v3.0) and the "ssceoledb30.h" also includes "transact.h".
Did I miss something to install ? Do you know how I can resolve the problem ?
Using MS VS 2005 (incl SQL Server Mobile) MS Pocket PC 2005 SDK
I am working on a project that builds for Pocket PC on both Mobile 2003 and Mobile 5. The project uses/will use SQL Server Mobile to store local data.
Project created from new with support for both platforms. I include required header files ssceerr30.h and ssceoledb30.h.
Project builds fine in WM2003 configuration, release and debug.
When I build for WM5 the compiler cannot find the header file transact.h. This is included from within ssceoledb30.h. Same as under WM2003.
In WM2003 configuration if I highlight the ssceoledb30.h include in Visual Studio and open the header, it takes me to <Visual Studio dir>SmartDevicesSDKSQL ServerMobilev3.0. I then locate the include for transact.h and do the same, which takes me <Visual Studio dir>SDKPocketPC2003include. The file exists.
If I repeat the above 'browsing' under the WM5 configuration, ssceoledb30.h takes me to a different copy in the WM5 SDK directory. There is no diff between the file here and the other copy used by WM2003. If I attempt to open transact.h - file does not exist.
Fix (which I'm not too sure about, i.e. is it OK?) - If I copy transact.h to the WM5 SDK directory, the project builds.
Why has transact.h disappeared from WM5 SDK? I can find no ref's to this problem anywhere. Is my installation of the WM5 SDK corrupt? What else could I be missing? Is there a sample for SQL Server mobile (like the NorthwindOLEDB sample) that comes configured to build for WM5?
I receive error 25123 on my PPC (audiovox 6600) in a reproducable way (usually) with .net 2.0 application that is using SQL CE that I wrote:
Open the application Connect to the database Close the applicaton Re-Open the application Connect to the database <-- Error occurs
I will also receive the error if my application isn't the first application launched (or very close to the first to launch).
I don't believe it's a memory issue as according to the memory manager I have plenty of memory:
At boot up only start screen items loaded: 18.46 Used 49.89 Free Launch Resco File Explorer to click EXE: 19.18 Used 49.18 Free Launch my application (no DB connection): 23.64 Used 44.71 Free Connect to the DB and do select count(*) from a table with 0 rows: 26.27 Used 42.08 Free Close the application (this.Close() on the form: 19.38 Used 48.97 Free Relaunch App and connect to DB receive error: around 38 Used around 30 free
I was unable to reproduce the issue right now while typing this message, the last sets of numbers are from memory, and include other applications that are currently running.
The only way I have to get SQL CE to load again is to soft reset the PPC. If the application is able to connect to SQL CE at least once it is fine up till I close it and re-open the application. So it either connects and runs great, or it can't connect at all.
Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated. Wayne
Hi folks, I'm new to Windows Mobile progamming, and new to this forum. Apologies in advance if I'm asking a boneheaded question, but I've done searches and can't find anything directly applicable to my problem.
I'm currently walking through the published MS tutorial in setting up an SQL Server 2005 Mobile application that subscribes to a publication on SQL Server 2005 to exchange information.
I've gotten almost all the way through... successfully set up the server components, creating the publication, etc. On the mobile side, I've been able run the cab files to install the SQL Mobile components and to create the project, add the reference to the dll, and instantiate an engine object. It compiles.
The step in the tutorial after that, though, where you specify the data source from the "data" menu, I've got a problem. When I try to use the "new connection" dialog from choosing the data connection, "MS SQL Server Mobile Edition" doesn't show up as a choice. I've tried choosing any of the other combinations, and in teh subsequent "Connection properties" section my database, SQLMobile (as in their sample) is available, but I get an error when I choose it and click OK. Clicking on "Test Connection" gives me a connection successful message.
My guess is that something about the Mobile server side components is not installed correctly on my development machine, but honestly I have no idea how to begin to fix it. Has anyone seen this problem before and know how to resolve it?
Your time and any knowledge sharing is greatly appreciated. Thank you, -Dana
This is a great tutorial and it's a shame one of the more important steps was missed. In the €œCreate the snapshot user€? section you you find the steps to create the snapshot_agent account. Then in the €œCreate the snapshot folder€? section you find the share and folder permissions. However, at no point do the instructions advise you about adding the snapshot_agent to the SQL Server Logins. The result is that agent cannot perform the initial snapshot but you won't find this out until 50 steps later after Step 10 in the section €œCreate a new subscription".
To get back on track, openthe Object Explorer's Security section and add the snapshot_agent to your logins. Then using the "User Mappings", set an appropriate level for the SQLMobile database role. Once completed you then need to run the agent.
Right-click the SQLMobile publication you created and select "View Snapshot Agent status". From that dialog you can select "Start" to run the agent. When it completes, you can return to the tutorial section "Create a new subscription" and continue with the tutorial.
I am studying the tutorial in SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition Books Online, and the topic is Creating a Mobile Application with SQL Server Mobile. I have got a problem when creating a new subscription after created a new SQL Server Mobile database. And the problem is shown below:
New Subscription Wizard
- Beginning Synchronization (Success)
- Synchronizing Data (100%) (Error) Messages * Failure to connect to SQL Server with provided connection information. SQL Server does not exist, access is denied because the IIS user is not a valid user on the SQL Server, or the password is incorrect. HRESULT 0x80004005 (29061)
* 無法完æˆ?作æ¥ã€‚
- Finalizing Synchronization (Stopped)
- Saving Subscription Properties (Stopped)
Before I have met this problem, I have finished all the task. And I can browse the localhost web site by using anonymous account even I use internet explorer or browse the directly in IIS.
Is there any tool available that can encrypt Credit card numbers or other fields stored in the database? For example, when a customer enters his credit card number or his password on the site, is there a way by which the Front end can encrpt the field before storing it in the database and decrypt it when it the customer requests it, through the application?
table Orders ord_id int ord_CudtomerID int, ord_CardNo char(16)
Example values in table CreditCardRange 1 , 5000 0000 2000 1234 , 5000 0030 3000 1356
Example values in table Orders 1, 1, 5000 0010 2000 2333
Does sql provide any magic finction to help in following select
select T1.* from Orders T1 join CreditCardRange T2 on T2.ccr_CudtomerID = t1.ord_CudtomerID and SQLMagicFunction(T1.ord_CardNo) between SQLMagicFunction(T2.ccr_CardRangeFrom ) and SQLMagicFunction(T2.ccr_CardRangeTo )
I'm trying to put together a script that would alter a table and add NOT FOR REPLICATION to the identity column on several hundred tables. Since I am unable to write a complex script to automate the entire process, I've decided to do the update one table at a time. Here is a script that I'm working on. I'm getting an error message when I try to run the script. Can someone please show me how to properly use variable with a wild card in a string ? or how to properly add this variables in this script?
DECLARE @Var1 AS CHAR(50), @tbn AS CHAR(50) SELECT @tbn = 'tablename' SELECT @Var1 = Name FROM SysIndexes WHERE Name LIKE 'pk%' AND Name LIKE '%' + @tbn + '%' EXECUTE('ALTER TABLE [@tbn] DROP CONSTRAINT ' + @Var1 ALTER TABLE + @tbn + DROP COLUMN mkey ALTER TABLE + @tbn + ADD viewkey INT IDENTITY (1,1) NOT FOR REPLICATION NOT NULL ALTER TABLE + @tbn + ADD CONSTRAINT PK_+ @tbn PRIMARY KEY (mkey) WITH FILLFACTOR=90 ON [PRIMARY]
I am developing one web site, in that I can upload files to sql server, it will save the uploaded file in binary type and we can download the files from there. Upto this everything is working perfectly. But now my problem is - i have to implement the wildcard character search in this site. The file name and extension will save on the database in different columns, and one more thing is file name is unique. I confused to implement wildcard search in this site, where i can implement this type of search in database or in my application with c#? So please help me to do this. I dont know that this is the right place to post this question or not. If it is not right place, please guide me to where I can post this. If it is right place, please help me to implement wild card search.
I am new to SQL developement ( am .Net developer). I need to implement a stored proc in sql 2005 on CC expiration task.
I have CC exiration date. By using expiration date (like '01/08'),
Conditions are:
1. If CC expiring within 31 days. Stored proc will write the Customer data in EmailNotification table with message type =1. (Customer will not get second notification until 14 days before expiring)
2. If CC expiring within 14 days. Stored proc will write the customer data in EmailNotification table with message type =2. (Customer will not get second notification until 11 days before expiring)
3. If CC expiring within 11 days. Stored proc will write the customer data in EmailNotification table with message type =3. (Customer will not get second notification until 2 days before expiring)
4. If CC expiring within 2 days. Stored proc will write the customer data in EmailNotification table with message type and update orderStatusID to On Hold CC Expired in order table.
My Tables are
1.
TABLE [dbo].[Order]( [OrderID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [CustomerID] [int] NOT NULL, [CustomerCode] [nvarchar](12) COLLATE SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS NOT NULL, [DateCreated] [datetime] NOT NULL, [DateOrdered] [datetime] NOT NULL, [OrderTypeID] [int] NULL, [OrderStatusID] [int] NULL, [LastProcessDate] [datetime] NULL,
2. Please atleast basic structure of stored proc code. It will greatful to me.
In the below section of code I'm connecing to a SQL database and when I use the "=" in the search it works ok, but when I try to add the ability to use wildcards by changin "=" to "LIKE" its not working
Working code:

I have seen some different behaviors when I am writing SQL Server compact edition Database file into SD Memory card or any user removable storage media.
The following Steps for reproducing these behaviors.
1. Set your database location is in the SD Memory card. 2. Create a database and establish session. 3. Writing first record into the database is done 4. Remove your SD card manually from the system 5. Try to write a Second record into the database 6. You will get the error from this "SqlCeWriteRecordProps" API call - This is fine. 7. Put your SD card back into the system. 8. Writing Second record again into the database is done - This is fine.
So far the behaviors are good after that
9. Remove your SD card manually from the system again 10. Try to write a Third record into the database 11. You will suppose to get the error from this "SqlCeWriteRecordProps" API call but you won€™t get that error €“ I don€™t know why? 12. Then Try to write a Forth record into the database 13. You won't get any error from the API call "SqlCeWriteRecordProps" and return status is success. 14. Now put your SD card back into the system. 15. Then write Fifth record but this time its writing record Third, Fourth and Fifth into the database.
Note: I am clearing (means Free) my record structure everything after calling this function "SqlCeWriteRecordProps". So I don€™t know why its wring Third, fourth and fifth record into the database.
ok i have intel dual core i have a conflict only in playing a game black hawk down it gives me a run stop error. locks up and has to be restarted. microsoft gave me a fix but when i do the fix it causes me to get a system dump error on the game. i can update my web site do anything else let daughter play her games or do her school work and nothing happens. i was told i needed to set up the dual core so that my programs dont conflict i am a moron when it comes to computers is there a fix for this or i am i just going to have to go back to single core processor for now thanks
