I am building RDA process between SQL server and SQL server CE. Since when we use the method 'SqlCeRemoteDataAccess.pull()', the data will be pulled down from SQL server to CE server and a new table is created with some addtional columns. As I only intend to pull the data and never push it back to SQL server, if I pull the data down for the second time, there will be an error saying that table is already existing. I wonder whether I can pull the data to an existing table everytime I do the RDA?
I am currently implementing RDA Pulls and Pushes. Both worked fine for me, except when I try to pull a certain table twice. I read that in order to pull the table a second time I must drop it on the client.
My original approach was to use a select statement with a where criterium in the pull statement (e.g. SELECT * from tblPhonebook where Pulled = 0), then set Pulled to 1 and pull again later.
My understanding of RDA was that I use the where criterium to filter the data at the server side and simply append that data at the client side.
Can I simply append data in some way or do I really have to drop the table on the client side every time I pull?
I am new to sql and my boss want me to write the program for database and he wants to pull the info from existing table from sql server which is used by Microsoft GP Dynamics and write me code or some kind of front end so when he wants he can pull same data from GP dynamics table and generate some report with other custom table.
How i can do this task? What I have to do in sql so I can use same table to view info in real time so that means if i enter new data in the table it will show up same time in the front end as well.
Where interid in ('comp1', 'comp2', 'comp4', 'comp5')
what would be the best way to using these scripts pull the data to my testDW and not have duplicate data issues?
I was thinking of using a staging DB on the GP cluster and then building an import data package to run nightly. the issue i had was how do i avoid duplicate data ?
I have a table thats updated daily with monthly data totals:
Month, Total orders1, Total orders2, etc 12/01/2012, 5, 8, etc 11/01/2012, 6, 5, etc
How do I pull data from this table in SQL Server for ONLY the current month? I was thinking using the getdate() function to get the current month, but it doesn't match exactly so I get no results
Hi, Im trying to pull data from 2 fields in the same table into a SqlDataSource that feeds into a GridView, and display them as 1 field in GridView? I have a database table that has entries of users and their friends. so this tblFriendUser has a column called UserName and another column called FriendUserName. I am trying to get a list of friends for that particular user. Note that if User1 initiated the friend request, he will be listed as UserName and his friend as FriendUserName, but if his friend initiated the friend request, it will be vice versa: him being the FriendUserName and his friend the UserName. So I want the following 2 queries run and merged into one query in order to return 2 columns only: UserFriendID & UserName, is that possible? Is my design bad? Any suggestions/advice would help! Thanks a lot!
SELECT UserFriendID, UserName FROM tblUserFriends WHERE (UserName = @UserName);
SELECT UserFriendID, FriendUserName AS UserName FROM tblUserFriends WHERE (FriendUserName= @UserName);
i have 2 tables (both containing the same column names/datatypes), say table1 and table2.. table1 is the most recent, but some rows were deleted on accident.. table2 was a backup that has all the data we need, but some of it is old, so what i want to do is overwrrite the rows in table 2 that also exist in table 1 with the table 1 rows, but the rows in table 2 that do not exist in table one, leave those as is.. both tables have a primary key, user_id.
How would I select from TABLE A and add this data to TABLE B which has existing data that I want to keep. I would like to keep adding onto the old data. When I do an "Insert Into", it keeps on deleting my old data.
How to normalization would be use 3 tables ,one for tags_id and tags, and another relating the tags_id to ID from the table above...but how does the code already know there is a tag called repeating?
I would like to create a stored procedure that opens a data connection for an excel file that I have saved. I would then like to export the excel data into an existing SQL table. Can anyone tell me the best way to go about this?
Hi guys, I need to import all data from Excel spreadsheet to a Sharepoint Content Database (SQL Server).Please suggest the best way to do this. For this when i run the Import wizard under Tasks--> Import in Management Studio 2005 ....it asks me to choose the database name etc....but How to use the Import/Export Wizard to Export Data from a .xls source to an existing table in a database....that is i need to append/insert my excel data into an existing table.
Hi everyone, I am new with SQL and I tried to use the code below to export data from Excel into an existing SQL table, but I keep on receiving the following message.
Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 The OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "(null)" reported an error. The provider did not give any information about the error. Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "(null)".
To export data from Excel to existing SQL Server table,
Insert into dbo.Base_Intraday Select * FROM OPENROWSET('Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0', 'Excel 8.0;Database=C:Shortcuts6 - Bolsa de Valores1 - Bolsa de Valores - Bovespa;HDR=YES', 'SELECT * FROM [Link$]')
I want my users to submit there email address and username to my Sql Database, but i want to prevent them from adding already existed usernames to my table.
I have a usernametextbox and emailtextbox and a Submit button. How do i check in my table before Submiting?
I have an existing table I need to add data to. The data is in a text file, and the existing table already has data in it (I don't want to delete this I want to add to it).
I used Microsoft's import utility but this created a seperate table with generic fieldnames (column01, column02, ect). Is there a step in this wizard I missed?
I could use some help on how to save the result of my data-flow in an existing table.
I have created a data flow. I have no trouble storing the result of the flow in a new table. But I'm trying to store the result of my data flow in an existing table. (The flow involves fuzzy grouping, and i would like to store the result in the original table on which the fuzzy grouping was performed). But I cannot get it to work.
I can select the existing table as OLE DB destination. I can write an SQL to manipulate this table, but how do i address the result of the flow in the SQL?
I know that this is legal sql: "SELECT 1 AS Blah" I want to do something like this except for I need to select multiple rows each with a different value for Blah. The query needs to be legal to be passed to the SqlCommand.ExecuteReader Method. Is this possible?
Need to change the datatype of existing column which has huge data.
I'm performing below steps
1. Create new column with correct datatype in the same table 2. copy data into new column 3. drop indexes on column 4. <<<>>> now the existing column also has many SP dependent and I do not wish to drop them. 5. rename existing column to xxx 6. rename new column to correct column 7. drop old column 8. make required indexes
I normalized the below tables but I am finding it difficult to copy data to the new tables. Â How do I copy data from existing table to the normalized tables? see the table structure below and other supporting information:
SKU_DATA(SKU,SKU_Description,Department,Buyer) Note: this table already has data in it. CREATE TABLE SKU_DATA ( SKU     Integer NOT NULL,
[code].....
The table structure above have two three determinants( SKU,SKU_Description and Buyer).  SKU and SKU_Description are candidate keys. Primary key is SKU.
Normalization : SKU_DATA(SKU,SKU_Description, Buyer) Â BUYER(Buyer,Department)
Recently installed Sql Server 2005 client and am now attempting to import data from a spreadsheet into an existing table. This works fine with Sql Server 2000 but I am getting data conversion truncation errors that stop the process when this runs using import utility in Sql Server 2005.
I need to recover some data in a table but i'm not 100% sure the right way to do this safely.
I'll need to query the two tables to compare the before and after but how do i go about restoring/attaching the backup database to SQL without causing conflicts?
If I restore, I assume this would just overwrite which is obviously the worst thing that can happen. if i attach the backup, how does this affect the current live DB? how do i make sure that it's not getting accessed and mistaken for the live DB?
Using SSIS 2012 (within Visual Studio) on Windows 7.
Before allowing my Data Flow task to fire, I'd like to check the target table (OLE DB Destination) for a specific date value in a specific field. I've seen how the Lookup Task is commonly used to check for dupes before inserting, but I'm not able to use that method because the data value I want to search the table for is contained in a Global Variable (let's say "MyVariableDate").Â
Is there any way to check for any records in a target table where Date1 = MyVariableDate (i.e. scanning the entire table for any occurrence of MyVariableDate in the Date1 field)?
I'm developing a Windows Mobile application, which is using RDA Pull for retrieving data from SQL Server 2005 database to PDA. Please, see the example:
Code Snippet
using (SqlCeEngine engine = new SqlCeEngine(connStr))
the sqlcesa30.dll cannot connect to SQL Server database.
In the sqlcesa30.log then I found following line:
Code Snippet
2007/04/17 10:43:31 Thread=1EE30 RSCB=16 Command=PULL Hr=80040E4D Login failed for user 'test'. 18456
The user 'test' is member of db_owner, db_datareader and public roles for the Demo database and in SQL Server Management Studio I'm able to login to the Demo database with using the 'test' users credentials and I'm able to run the select command on 'mytable'.
So, what's wrong? Why the sqlcesa30.dll process cannot login to the Demo database, and from another application with using the SAME connection string it works?
I have recently moved jobs and have come across an unusual database setup that is not ideal for the resolution of my task at hand.
I need to query table A, which will return 1 and only 1 tablename as a result. there are various tablenames on table A but the query will always return a unique result. (from Table B-G for example)
My problem is now, how do i run my next query on the table i have returned from my first query. I need to be able to reference the value.
Making sense?
Ideal scenario would be if tables B-G were on a single table and had a unique identifier, but this architecture cannot be changed for numerous reasons and a workaround needs to be established. your help is much appreciated,
Dears, I'm trying to set up a rda connection through the pocket pc emulator (standalone version 1.0) and my laptop which runs Windows Vista Home Premium. To start up the rda I first need to connect from my emulated device to my laptop which runs IIS 7.0 (complete installation with compatibility toward IIE 6.0). Connection to http://localhost from my laptop is working fine.
I start the emulator (Pocket Pc with Windows Professional) and cradle the emulated device. Connection starts and I'm able to browse from my pc the content of the emulated device or to synchronize it. Then I run Internet Explorer on the emulator and try to connect to http://mycomputername (correct) but I receive a message which says that it cannot connect to the page I was looking for because connection was lost. Any suggestion on how to solve this issue? Kind regards and many thanks in advance Cristian
It seems that now I can connect to http://mycomputername and I'm able to browse the net with my pocket pc emulator. Anyway when I'm attempting to connect to htpp://mycomputername/subfolder/sqlcesa30.dll (the path is correct, I receive the following error message: "The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try later"..which is the same message I've been receiving before)
I need to copy a large amount of data from one table and insert it into another table.
The design of the destination table is exactly the same as the source table except for the fact that it has one extra field. Can I copy; in a single SQL statement; all rows in one table (that match given criteria) into another table allowing for the extra field?
My dev environment: VS2005, SQLServer Mobile, SQLServer 2005 server db, PPC windows app.
Having a problem with pull. First pull works fine. I request an error table from the pull. When I need to repull, I drop the table, but if I try to programmatically delete the error table, I get the message that the table has restricted DDL operations allowed. Apparently Drop is not allowed. Sometimes dropping the main table deletes the error table, sometimes it doesn't. If I try to repull and the error table is there, the pull fails.
I've tried "flushing" my cache by closing my connection and reopening, but that doesn't work.
Hi, Writing a report that displays total hours, etc for each day in a given month and I'm having trouble comking up w/ an elegant solution. Tables are set up like this: table1 (id, start_date,end_date,submitter) table2( id,table1_id,start_time,end_time, etc) Each record in table2 is a child to a parent record in table1 and there may be multiple children for each parent. The "start_time" and "end_time" fields are datatype "datetime" and are stored with actual times (not 12:00:00 AM"). I need the report to display the values for each day in a gridview, etc so I can act upon them from the "RowDataBound" sub (more math, etc). The problem that I am running into is that for records that have multiple children for a given day, I need to sum those results and display the summed data as a single row within the GV - can't seem to work that out - I keep getting every child record displaying as its own row in the GV. Any thoughts? I'm sure it's probably fairly simple but I am still a beginner...thanks as always
I am new to SQL, as old as it is. I am not new to programming Inormally just use Access.I have two tables for a little project manager I made. After updates Isent an email to the user. I need to populate the user based on the"Assigned To" field I use, but I only log the username and not theemail address. I have the report sever running on windows2003 with sql standard server 2005. However, I' m trying to create a report that pull data from a different server with sql express. Could I do this? If so...any links, examples, suggestion I can take a look at.
I am trying to pull data from SQL Server 2000 database onto my Pocket PC and the simple query works on Northwind sample database but does not on another custom build database. I did test the statement in the SQL Query Analyzer and it works.
The error I get is: "Failure setting up a non parameterized query, possible incorrect SQL query."
I know the code is right - thanks to Rory B's screenscasts. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Here is the code:
private void RdaPull()
{
try
{
//Create the database
if (File.Exists("\My Documents\Test.sdf"))
File.Delete(\My Documents\Test.sdf);
SqlCeEngine engine = new SqlCeEngine();
engine.LocalConnectionString = localConnection;
engine.CreateDatabase();
engine.Dispose();
//Initialize RDA Object
SqlCeRemoteDataAccess rda = null;
rda = new SqlCeRemoteDataAccess(rdaUrl, localConnection);
rda.Pull ("Customers", "select * from Customers", rdaOleDbConnectionString);
Please help. (I am using ASP, VB, SQL)I have a table with Office address information and it's ID. There could be a lot of offices in one city. But I would like to display only unique cities with certain names they start with and their id's.
