I have a Windows 2008 server 64-bit SP1 and I have installed SQL 2005 SP2 Enterprise Edition 64-bit. My current version is 9.00.3042.00. I am trying to configure Reporting Services and I am having lots of trouble getting the Application Pools to work properly. I have followed the Microsoft Technet paper 839480 "How to Install and Configure Reporting Services on Windows Server 2008". In the "Configure Reporting Services" part, I have successfully configured everything (all arrows are green) and have the following setup:
Report Server Virtual dir: ReportServer Default Web Site
Report Manager Virtual dir: Reports Defualt Web Site
Windows Service Identity: ReportServer with a service acct login
Web Service Identity:
Report Server: ReportServer,
Report Manager: DefaultAppPool (I get an error when I try to configure it to anything else: ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.WMIProviderException: An unknown error has occurred in the WMI Provider. Error Code 800708AC at ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.RSReportServerAdmin.SetWebServiceIdentity(String applicationPool)
The one thing I notice in the SQL Server configuration manager is that there is a red dot next to the SQL Reporting Services services even though the green arrow is there to show it is running.
When I look in IIS7, I see the application pools Reports and ReportServer and they are both in Integrated mode. When I try to go to http://localhost/reportserver, it gives an error. It will work if I change both application pools to classic. But then when I try to go to http://localhost/reports, I get an error:
"REQUEST IS NOT AVAILABLE IN THIS CONTEXT".
I have read up on IIS7 and it says that:
"This error is due to a design change in the IIS7 Integrated pipeline that makes the request context unavailable in Application_Start event. When using the Classic mode (the only mode when running on previous versions of IIS), the request context used to be available, even though the Application_Start event has always been intended as a global and request-agnostic event in the application lifetime."
So, how do I configure these application pools to work using IIS7 with SQL 2005 Reporting Services on a Windows 2008 server? I have tried all kinds of different things based on what I am reading on the net and nothing is working. Anybody have any suggestions?

Does anyone know how to properly install SQL server 2005 express reporting services on windows server 2008. When ever i try to access the report manager I get an error "Cannot access the remote server" even though the report server is on the local machine. I only have the web server role installed on the server. Im still quite a newbie at managing servers so please keep it as simple as possible.

Nov 8, 2009I have database fields that contain RTF text. If I use the default Textbox in SSRS 2008 Report Designer, I get all the RTF formating characters, which makes for a VERY ugly report.Is there another control I can place on my report that will take the RTF formated text and display it properly? I can do this in Crystal Reports, but I'm converting to SSRS 2008 so I need to be able to handle RTF formated text.

Mar 31, 2008There are a few features in the new SQL Server - Reporting Services that I really need in production. I have tested everything and it works great. I am running the CTP version since Microsoft is saying they aren't releasing the release version until 3rd quarter 2008.
Since Microsoft won't sell SQL 2008 until 3rd quarter, can I run the CTP in production until the release and then purchase SQL 2008?

Reporting Services :: SSRS 2008 Report Invalid Parameter Warning Not Clearing Out
Jul 16, 2015I am using SSRS 2008 and the reports we have use parameters of type Date/Time. Â The reports work well when the parameter values are entered correctly.
When entering an invalid date format for one of the Date/Time parameters the following error is displayed "The value provided for the report '<parameter name>' is not valid for its type. (rsReportParameterTypeMismatch). Â This seems to be working correctly as well. Â However, when the correct date format is then entered for the report parameter for which the report threw an error, the error persists and the report doesn't run again. Â Setting the parameter to "NULL" doesn't work either.
The only way to get the report to run again is to refresh the entire report. Â Of course, if at that point one has entered a bunch of other parameter values, those values all disappear.

query is running well and data is coming correctly if I run this on Query designer.and date format must be YYYY-MM-DD.but when I try to run through on run time then the date control is showing format dd/mm/yyyy.
I change the regional settings of windows and SharePoint site to English(United States). and when I select date control it is also putting date in format like "YYYY-MM-DD'. and in that format report is working well in Query designer view.But on run time still it is not working.

Reporting Services :: SSRS 2008 - Report Builder Download To Domain Level Clients Not Working
Feb 5, 2010I have created a new SSRS Server and done all of the basic security setup for the site but I am having trouble with client machine access...At first I had an issue with being able to access report manager from any client and ended up having to shut off windows authentication on the client IE settings to get it to work. Now I am trying to run Report Builder from a client machine and it will not download. The client machine is on the same domain and my user id is set as an administrator within SSRS and as a local admin on the 2008 server.Â
I had the thought that without windows auth in the browser maybe it can't permit me access to the application but if I turn it on I can't get to it to download it. I have set Full Control rights to the folder as well. Most of the info out there is for 2005 and that uses IIS to host the pages where as 2008 does not. Here is the details of the error:

Jun 15, 2009We're migrating from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2008. We use itextsharp (a pdf processing library) to merge different PDF outputs into one large PDF file. This was working brilliantly in SSRS 2005, but in SSRS 2008, itextsharp *can* open and parse the PDF, but itext sees the "content" section of the PDF pages as blank. So, the resulting composite PDF ends up being a series of blank pages. Acrobat 9 and a couple other PDF tools (tested linux Evince and win GIMP) seem to be able to open the SSRS 2008-generated PDF fine, but the java-version of itext, and the .net version of itext (itextsharp) see nothing but blanks.So, I realize this points to a problem with itext, but I'm curious if merging PDFS outputed from SSRS 2008, and what PDF tools/libraries they are using.

SQL Reporting Services 2005: Sizing Report For Printing
Feb 1, 2008I have a report that is a little wide, and when I export it to an Excel file it spans about 2 pages. I have it set to an 8.5 height and 11 width for printing in landscape on normal-sized paper. But is there a way to make sure that the report exports with the printing page break covering the entire width so that the report prints only one page across? The users don't want to resize in Excel before printing.

Reporting Services 2005 - Problems Displaying A Report Via A ReportViewer Control.
Apr 11, 2006I have a report that displays fine in VS 2005 (in the Preview tab), and if I hit it via a URL in IE as a deployed report. However, when I embed it in a ReportViewer control for display on a web site, I get no data back for the report. I am using an Oracle database for the data source. None of the the logs in reporting services show anything wrong, there are no events in the event viewer to indicate any problems, Oracle logs also show no problems and no errors are returned to the page when the "View Report" button is clicked.
Anyone out there have a clue? I certainly don't.

Is The Custom Report Item Sample Still Included In SQL Reporting Services 2005?

I read that this sample is included, however when I install the samples the other three are in the "Extension Samples" directory but the "Custom Report Item Sample" is missing. Can anybody please tell me where I can find it?
