provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 233

I had SQL200 query analyzer loadded on a machine but it crashed.
Culd find CD. We decided to load SQl Server Manager sudio express from a sql 2005 CD. THe problem is that wen running queries with it, it puts some strange characters in the output. They arenon-printable characters so you don't see them
when you edit them in notepad. I have an editor that allows you to edit different
modes. I looked at the file in hex mode and found the characters there at the beginning of the first record. I just want the results in the result pane of the query to save as a regular ASCII text file comma delimited. THis same script was used successfully
in SQL2000 query Analyzer. Can anyone help?

I've been trying to get my website back up and running, I lost the db and will have to reconstruct that but in the meantime I would like to get the website back in operation right now I have the following problems.
I receive an error message when trying to create a new user in the web admin tool. see 1A
or I receive another error message saying that the administrator is not authorized to sign onto the db
and I seem to have the authorization settings incorrect for the hashed password settings I had...
Ive looked back through my notes and the last time this happened I created a new database with the web admin tool but my settings are such that this still doesn't eliminate the error messages. Right now the website is in a cannot find server mode.
Thanks for your help.

Still having a problem. does anyone answer these forums? Since Microsoft is not offering support on VWD 2005 and it sends you to these forums for answers don't you think that they should staff the forums? for at least a modicum of support. Who - ever heard of a product being released without a repair system in place? HELP REQUESTED.

Hi There
I am not too sure what to do in this scenario.
1. I create a SSAS solution using BIDS and deploy it successfully.
2. I use management studio to add a role for security reasons so that only certain users can process a cube.
3. Now if i open the solution in BIDS and make a change and try to deploy i get a message that the databases are out of sync.
Now i know this is because the ssas database has changed because i added a role in management studio.
Documentation i have found says that i simply open a new project and import the Analysis Services Dataabase.
I have done this however you have to give the project a new name and then if you deploy the project the database name name changes, so you cant really make changes to an exisiting Analysis database.
What am i missing here ?
I need to use Management Studio for admin changes to the SSAS DB, but if i do i can no longer open it is BIDS without this issue ?
I am sure there is a better way to do this ?
ANy help is appreciated Thanx

Hi,
I have a problem to connect to SQL2005 Express Database with VC++ as regular user, not window system administrator.(If i login as window system admin, everything's working fine.)
A. I tried to use SQL2005 Express Server authentication, the error msg is:
Code= 80004005 €œunspecified error€? Cannot open database ***, login failed.
1. I am using Server authentication with username and password.
2. Gave all the permission of Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1 and Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2 to this regular window user.
3. Connection String is:
Provider=SQLNCLI;Initial Catalog=***; User ID=***;Password=***;Data Source=***;Persist Security Info=False;Integrated Security=SSPI;
B. I tried to use Window authentication by adding User Instance, but the error is:
Code= 80004005 €œunspecified error€? MS Native Client
Description = Invalid connection string attribute.
Connection String is:
Provider=SQLNCLI;Initial Catalog=***; Data Source=***;Persist Security Info=False;User Instance=True;Integrated Security=SSPI;AttachDBFileName=directory***.mdf;
Any idea? Thanks.

Hi all,
Have just tried my sql server 2005 connected asp classic website on II7 for the first time and have gotten some errors.
First off I have unchecked show friendly errors in IE and have enabled ASP to send error messages to the browser.
My error I get is when I execute a basic .asp page:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot open database "mydatabasename" requested by the login. The login failed.
/index.asp, line 10 which is dbConnect.Open cstring
from this peice of code:
sub dbOpen()
set dbConnect = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
cstring = "DSN=mysqldsn; Trusted Connection=yes"
dbConnect.Open cstring
end sub
I have gone into ODBC and have setup both a user dsn and file dsn that equals mysqldsn and points to my database (I know you only need to set up one DSN but I'm not sure which)
I also notice under mywebsite home panel there is a connection string option. Do I do anything with that?
Definatley a lot more to it than XP's II6!
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Oracle and Teradata are able to capture the windows/client login that connects to their database with a functionnal ID.I've searched around and I don't think MS SQL can do this...I administer SQL 2014 server and also SAS Enterprise guide product. I've created sql server logins for several teams so everyone shares the same sql server login which is used to bind the SAS library to my SQL server database.
However, when looking at activity monitor, I can't drill down to which user is executing a particular query. I only see the SQL login which is share amongs 200 other folks.On the other hand, when they connect from SAS to Oracle or Teradata, I can see the shared login + additionally their windows NT login used to connect to SAS which is awesome....they can't fool me by using a shared/funcionnal ID....i still see who's using that ID...

I have a script component. What it does, it queries the a table using a connectionstring assigned to it in the Connection Managers Editor (which is an ado.net adapter). this works fine when i'm using a windows login in the ado.net connection manager. All the logins with sysadmin role are locked out in one of the SQL server. Also in that instance Logon trigger is implemented which allows only certain users with Windows Authentication to logon.
This server is converted into single user mode by using command prompt. Now we are attempting to connect to SQLServer using command sqlcmd -S FTCPU3239 (since we do not have any other login) and create a new login with sysadmin role but are refused due to logon trigger. it says Login failed for login 'DomainNameUserName' due to trigger execution.

I have a server that has 20 databases . I have tested with few users with different level of access and all of them were able to connect to the server and also see, select, update , delete from a particular database which is kind of weird because they do not have a user login associated or mapped to that database. I checked and no user is part of any group in AD that would give them permission to connect . I need a query that would find the permission path of a user. I already queried with xp_logininfo but I am not getting any thing.

Hi,
I am using SQL Server 2005 at home.
My problem is I forgot my password to log in to my server.
I only remember user name is 'sa'.
I haven't used it for two to three months. So I forgot password.
Previously, When I used sql server 2000, my login is as windows login. so no problem.
But this time, I set seperate log in and I got this problem.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

Hello everyone,
Since last so many days i am seeing that someone is trying to login to sql server through login name sa.but that login is failed.and this is occuring constantly.
Earlier i had same login failed message for another ip address.i have blocked that ip address through access-list in firewall.but now i am seeing the same message for another ip address.
(1).how can i permenently remove this message from Event log.
(2).What is the impact of this on sql server performance.is sql server performance degraded by this kind of contineous attack?
here i am attaching that report from event viewer log file.

I just upgraded my SQL 2000 server to SQL2005. I forked out all that money, and now it takes 4~5 seconds for a webpage to load. You can see for yourself. It's pathetic. When I ran SQL2000, i was getting instant results on any webpage. I can't find any tool to optimize the tables or databases. And when I used caused SQL Server to use 100% cpu and 500+MB of ram. I can't have this.Can anyone give me some tips as to why SQL 2005 is so slow?

Been looking through the forums for a solution to this problem.I already tried granting access through statements such as:exec sp_grantloginaccess N1'machineNameASPNET'But they don't seem to work.. i vaguely remember seeing somewhere a DOS command line statement that grants access to the ASPNET_WP and that fixed my problem before on another computer.. but this is a new computer and i forgot to write down the command.Can anyone help explain and propose a solution to my problem. Many thanxs.

I have an environment of SQL Server 2K5 and 2000 servers. The environment is mostly data warehouse than transactional. There are some applications working continiously to provid reports. The servers must be up and running.
I have to provide high availability, monitor performance, and minimize down time. Is there any "really good" tool for a DBA for this environment? I would like to hear your experience with the tool you are using. Any practical suggestion is highly appreciated.
Thanks,
[1/29/07] It's first time on this forume for me that I had no reply for about 4 days! Any idea? Any experience to share?

Back in July I released the (then) latest version of SsbAdmin. For you who
don'r know what it is; it's a tool which allows you to graphically administer
SQL Server Service Broker.
I have now uploaded a new version which is compiled against the released
versions of SQL Server 2005 and .NET 2.0.
You can download it from here: [0].
After download, un-zip to some directory and read the README.doc file.

I am unable to install 32-bit SQL Server Integration Services on the server due to something that was left behind by the 64-bit version.
I've uninstalled SQL Server 2005 64-bit and when I try to install the 32-bit version of Integration Services, I get this error: "Failed to install and configure assemblies C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft SQL Server90DTSTasksMicrosoft.SqlServer.MSMQTask.dll in the COM+ catalog. Error: -2146233087 Error message: Unknown error 0x80131501 Error descrition: FATAL: Could not find component 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Task.MessageQueueTask.ServCompMQTask' we just installed."
I can't seem to figure out how to resolve this problem with the COM+ and I can't remember if Integration Services is required.
Can anybody please advise?

Hello,
I have a vb program that include a dts package that has been saved to vb with sql2000 dts wizard and works very good.
Now that I upgrade my website to sql2005, this vb dts package doesn't work.
The error I get is:
Microsoft Data Transformation Services (DTS) Package
Invalid STDGMEDIUM structure
(Microsoft Data Transformation Services (DTS) Package (80040066): Invalid STDGMEDIUM structure
) (Microsoft SQL-DMO (ODBC SQLState: 42000) (80004005): [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near ')'.)
I searched in the internet how to make dts package in sql2005 and save it to vb and found no information about it.
What Can I do to get the vb code of the dts package I create in sql2005 or how do i migrage the sql2000 vb dts package code to sql2005?
Thanks,
Kubyustus

Hi,
I have installed "SQL Server 2000 SP 4" to SQL server and it is running fine.
But when i install the "SQL Server CE version 2.0 Update for use with IIS and SQL Server 2000 SP4", i get below error:
"SQL Server CE Tool is compatible only with SQL Server 2000 Service pack 1 and higher.
When you install SQL Server CE Server Tools on a computer running both IIS and SQL Server 2000 , ensure the installer for SQL Server CE Server Tools corresponds To the version of SQL Server 2000."
I have go thougth few articles in the forum, try to open the sqlce20sql2ksp4.exe file and then run only the MSI, but still fail.
By the way, i found that the sqlce20sql2ksp4.exe does not include any MSI, it is a direct executable file.
Appreciate if anyone tell me the solution.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Plane.
