· The IIS 6.0 is running and I assigned ip address (20.x.x.x) on the €œReporting€? site.
· I validated and tested the reporting site on local box and it works.
· Open the IE and Entered the http://20.x.x.x. it worked.
· Then, I went to SQL 2005 Configure Report Server, it connected and worked.
· Bring IE and pointed http://20.x.x.x/ReportServers. It works.
· I started create a demo report and published. It deployed.
· Bring up IE and pointed http://20.x.x.x/ReportServers. It works
Problems:
When I tried to connect from outside computer, it failed.
Can someone help and advice on these problems.?
every 1 hour my server's computer is restarting ! when the windows finish restarting i open the Event viewer and see that what coused it is the error :

I've started with the development of a website which will use a sql server 2005 database. I want to use the asp.net membership and roles functionality. In the end the website will be hosted by a hosting company. What is the best way to store the database? In the App_data folder or outstide the App_data folder? Second, do hosting companies support placing sql server databases stored into the App_data folder?
I have created and deployed a data source (which uses "Credentials supplied by the user running the report") and a model which uses this data source. Also I have built a report using Report Builder and all works well.

Subsequently, the following error is logged on the Report Server/Database server:

I was able to temporarily correct the problem by performing as iisrest on the Report Server/Database server. However, the same problem occured again a couple hours later. I am relatively new to SQL Reporting Services so any help would be appreciated.
Hello, I've created a Report Model Project that can be used by Report Builder to generate ad-hoc reports. I'm trying to create a connection string in my Report Server Project that points to the Report Model Project data source view.
All I can do is create a regular datasource, which bypasses the metadata contained in the Data Source View.
Basically I want my Report Server Project and my Report Builder reports to leverage the same metadata. Is this possible? If so how do I get the connection string?
I am able to start Report Builder from the Reports site.
Report Builder opens but then it asks to "Select site or server", I don't see any data sources or anything, I can only enter a site or server. I tried http://crossdatabase/Reports and http://crossdatabase/ReportServer and http://crossdatabase nothing works. What's more, when I cancel and then click on the open button I get an exception:

I run the Report Builder on the server so there should be no connection problems.
I have unable to deploy Sql Server Report as I am getting an error while deployment "A connectin could not be made to the report server http://localhost/reportServer" where as i have created virtual directory for repotServer in IIS . Can anyone plz help me out to resolve this problem ?
OK, I am not a programmer, but administrate the Report Server and its security. The .NET programmers want to connect direct to Report Server using WEB.CONFIG settings (see below).
What do I need to do to ensure their dynamic reports can run against my Report Server? What kind of rights do I assign the "MP2_Net" (above) login? All of this is outside the IIS-Report Server security environment? Do I assign rights via SQL Mgr? I cannot find any doco on this process.
I moved the web app. I'm working on to another machine. Everything seemed to go well. Installed Reporting Services and configuration worked well with green ticks everywhere and I'm running reports in Report manager and in Visual Studio. However running off the web app. gives the message:
"The attempt to connect to Report Server failed" - there's also a ref. to an HTTP 404 error.
The install might not have gone as well as I thought because there was a "ReportServer" website created in IIS at same level as default. (Also Reports and ReportServer as virtual directories under Default website). The rogue website is 'stopped' at present. Would be grateful for any help with this. One thing is that I'm now behind a proxy so I'm using localhost:8080

I am using SQL server 2000, Crystal Reports 8.5. I dont see any problem with accessing thro' VB Coding(ADODB).
Crystal Report connection thro ODBC also working fine.
But when i try to connect to database thro "More data sources" -> SQL server , i was thrown out with an error "Unable to connect to SQL server servernam"
I have uninstalled & Reinstalled both SQL server and Crystal Report. Still not working.
I have been struggling with this problem for quite a long time.
I am using WIN XP PRO with IIS installed. Installation (including SSRS) seems OK.
If I go into new project and select Business Infomration / New Report I can select datasource, etc, design a and get to a deployment window. Default is Report Server: http://localhost/ReportServer Deployment Folder: Report Project2
I can preview a report just fine.
If I go to Debug or Deploy I get a error message box that starts with "A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer"
Am I missing a component on my system or can you suggest something else I should look at?
When I want to connect to a local report server on as shown in the "Reporting Services Tools" tutorial (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-au/library/aa337424.aspx), the SSMSE does not show the option "Reporting Services" in the "Server type" drop down list in the "Connect to server" dialog.
The tutorial says "In the Server type list, select Reporting Services. If Reporting Services is not on the list, it is not installed."
This must be wrong as the SSCM clearly shows an installed and running "SQL Server Reporting Service (...)".
Also if i call the webinterface (http://localhost/reports/) a page loads that says "SQL Server Reporting Services Home" with some options. And here something is not correct too. The "contents" tab of the report manager says "There are no items in Home."
I started to work on some basic tutorials using the sql server business development studio, and everything works fine. I can create reports, which derive data from the AdventureWorks db properly.
Can anyone tell me the adequate steps to fix the SSMSE connection problem and the webinterface view problem?

I use WinXP SP2, which makes the IIS version 5.1
SQL server is 2005 express with advanced features
and i installed the management toolkit, and the AdventureWorks db.
Installation history is as follows:
.NET framework 2.0 + VS2005 professional edition was installed
1. installed ss2005express+advanced features, on a named instance. worked fine. I did not install the SSMSE at this point, as i knew it is included in the toolkit too. 2. configured the reporting services through the "reporting services configuration" tool. worked fine. 3. installed the management tool kit. worked fine. 4. installed the AdventureWorks db. installed, but was not attached automaticaly to the database engine. 5. attached the AdventureWorks db to the database engine manually. worked fine, can be viewed and accessed properly.
So there I am. I have no clue what went wrong.
A last hint that makes me think is this: In the SSCM the sql server an the sql server reporting services have different instance ids (MSSQL.1 and MSSQL.2 respectively).

I have a Report Server setup on my laptop (XP Pro SP2). I have developed a report which I would like to view from a Windows Forms Application (VB.NET) using a ReportViewer. When I try it from the local machine it works correctly, but if I try to connect and preview the same report from my other PC (Vista Home Premium) I am getting the "Unable to connect to the remote server. A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because the connected host failed to respond." error.

Where CPMReports is the Report Server virtual directory and CPM_Reports is the folder where the report Test resides.
I do not know if this has anything to do with the fact that Vista Home does not have Report Services enabled or it is just a permissions problem. I have red several posts that describe similiar problems, but I could not find a solution.

after installing SQL Server 2008 R2 and the Reporting Services, I've managed to access the Report Manager URL....Reports through the web browser on the machine itself. But if i am trying to connect to on my client browser it does not find the Report Server.Do I need to configure the server in any way? Do I need to configure the firewall?
My site has 2 IP addresses. My Report Server Manager was working until I updated Sharepoint to 2007.
I had installed the Report Server first, but then I installed Sharepoint to the primary IP. At that point Report Services Manager stopped working ( I can still access reports created). I want to move Report Server to the alternate IP. At that IP it's the same situation. I can run previously created reports, but cannot get to Report Manager.

I am using msde 2000. while working with crystal reports, when i connect to one database, it is opening the report. while when i try to run same report on other machine (connecting to similar database in other machine), it is failed to open the connection.

I'm having a problem connecting with a Java application but I CAN connect using my .Net application - the user name and password are the same for both (using the same database on SQL Server Express 2005).
The error I get is: "com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Cannot open database "CORNERS" requested by the login. The login failed." An interesing note - I get the same message if the database is not running.
SQL Server Express 2005 is installed in mixed mode.

I added a database named appdata to the app_data folder to hold temporary application data. I want to show this data in a report. I created a dataset and an object to select the data. I then created an report.fdlc and a report.aspx with a ReportViewer on it pointing to the dataset object. If I right click on the report.aspx and View in Browser, it work perfectly. But when I upload it to the server I get and browse to it I get (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified). The server does allow remote connections. So I am thinking it's my connection string of the fact that the server doesn't have Sql Server Express.? Here's my connection string. I want to make a report where multiple users can use the same report to connect to their databases and then print out the report with information from those databases. Both databases have the exact same tables and fields but the data that is in them is different. However, I have only been able to figure out how to connect the report to one specific database, and therefore the report always prints out information from that database instead of the user specified one. So let's say I want my report to print out the name that is in the database field Name for any database I connect to, how would I do this?
I have created multiple data sources and datasets in my SSrS project. I created the datasets so I could use them as the basis for reports. However, when I open the wizard to create a new report, I am always asked for a data source, and then have to renter the SQL code that I have stored in one of my datasets. How can I have a report use an existing dataset as it source of data? Otherwise, the datasets I created seem useless . . .

When I run the report I select a startdate, enddate and username. I click the View Report button and get the same results for any one of the usernames I pick which is wrong.
Hi My project is in .NET 2003 i.e. framework 1.1 and database in SQLServer 2000. But the reports have been developed using SQLServer 2005 Reporting Services. Now when I am trying to deploy them through deployment project of .NET its giving me following error:"Using other editions of SQL Server for report data sources and/or the report server database" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. Now I am really confused with this. Can any one please guide me regarding this ASAP. Thanks, Falguni
