Can Not Find Report Server On The Machine
Mar 22, 2007I installed SQL Server 2005 which include report server but got this error: no report servers were found on this server when trying to configure report server. Am I missing something?

Feb 5, 2007The current way I have my asp.net 2.0 web app running reports is, based on an
interface the user selects the criteria for a report. The .RDL file is created
dynamically based on the user's selections.
I then need to SOAP the dynamically created report to the report server and
then the report runs fine.
BUT it requires Adminstrative rights to do this. Can this be accomplished
without giving the local machine admin rights. I am sorry if this question
has been answered before but i have not been up here in a while.

Problem Moving Report Server Catalog To Different Machine
Apr 5, 2007Books On Line makes breaking out the report server databases on to a separate machine from the report server itself sound very easy. I have tried it and it is but I can't get the report server to connect to the databases once they are on the other machine.
Everything was done by the book(s). We use SSRS only for intranet use so all inside firewall. The SQL Server 2005 services on both machines (including the RS Windows service) all run as the same domain administrator account, this account was used to log in to RS Config Tool and it was told to use this account under Windows Authentication to connect to the database server. The two machines are in the same domain, even on the same switch. The only difference is the one with report server on is Windows 2000 Server SP4 and the one to which the rs databases are moving is Windows Server 2003 SP1. The account mentioned above has sysadmin rights on both SQL Servers, as well as having all the RSExecRole rights as specified in BOL. And it has rights to logon as a service in group policy on both machines. Its password hasn't been changed.
The RS Config Tool completed fine and reported no errors.
But when you try to connect to the report server you get the error:
"The report server cannot open a connection to the report server database. The logon failed. (rsReportServerDatabaseLogonFailed)" The log shows that a privilege required by the client is missing but doesn't specify what! I thought this was all taken care of when the RS Config Tool told it which account to connect with.
This is driving me daft. It should be so easy!! Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong? Nothing says I need to do anything with the encryption key when I am keeping the report server itself exactly as it was and just moving the catalog - or have I missed something here?

Cannot Find DB On Local Machine In VB.Net

I have SQL Server Express 2005. I have it configured for remote connections, but I cannot even see my local dbase. I have the server setup for windows authentication. In VB 2005 database connection wizard I see the db server but on the database itself.
When I click test connection....without a dbase choosen it says ( i don't have any to choose from).
"An error has occured while establishing a connection to the server. When connection to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server"
This doesn't make sense because i have changed the the surface area configuration to allow remote connections on both TCP/IP and Named pipes. It shouldn't matter though because this is a local database.

I have installed sql server 2005 along with reporting services... though i am able to design report using business intelligence studio... i am unable to access the report server.... while trying to start the reporting services configuration manager it says no report server found on the specified machine...Invalid Namespace... the installation is local ...
Due to this problem inspite of designing the entire report i am unable to deploy it on the web..since it is asking for a report server...
Can somebody please help me on this...

Nov 23, 2015I have SQL Server 2012 SP2 x64 Express Advanced Services installed on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.
I cannot find the Report Builder download link for SQL Server 2012 SP2 x64 Express Advanced Services on Windows 10 Pro.
Shouldn't the Report Builder link be for SQL Server 2012 SP2 and x64 bit in order to work with SQL Server 2012 SP2 x64 Express Advanced Services on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit?The only Report Builder 3.0 links I have found have been x86 (32 bit) and SP1.

Report Looks Different On The ReportServer On A Remote Machine

Hi,
I have developed a report in SSRS. When I preview it, the report looks fine.
However when I view the same report on the ReportServer of a remote machine it looks differnt.
Some additional rows with some values appear and I have no idea from where they are coming.
This same report works fine on my local PC and ReportServer.
However this problem only appears when I deploy it on a remote machine and view it on the web there.
Any guidance will be helpful.

I have installed RS 2005 in my machine. If some one else wants to view reportmanger in my machine, does he have to install ssrs 2005 in his machine too?
I can acces my report manager from my machine by just typing http:\localhost
eports or http:\mymachine
eports
The other persone also wants to access my report manager by just typing http:\mymachine
eports.
Also if there are more than one client machines , do they need to have RS 2005 in each machine.

Jul 12, 2007I am trying to configure MOSS and SSRS and when I go to Grant Database Access via Central Admin, I get this error No report servers were found on the specified machine.
I have created the sharepoint integrated databae via Reporting Services Config tool. Any ideas?

Accessing Report Builder From Client Machine??
May 14, 2007Accessing report builder from client machine in which there is no sql server with the url http://<server name>>/reports. The report builder tab is not getting displayed.
when accessing from http://<server name>/reportserver/reportbuilder/reportbuilder.application it gets connected to the report model but when we are running the report it say the user doesnt have sufficient permissions or database can not be processed.
The permission is given to the user on the data source. For admin permission the report is running fine.
Do anybody know the procedure to run adhoc reports from client machine??

I get this error when launching the Reporting Services Configuration Manager...I've never seen this error, usually it can talk to my local servername but unfortunately it's not. Report Manager On 64 Bit Machine Does Not Recognize 32 Bit Data Sources
Aug 22, 2007I'm a report developer who has created some reportsd against sybase data on another server. I am developing on a 64 bit Server 2003 box using SQL 2005 Reporting services. I hace created 32 bit ODBC data dsns using the supplied utitlity (odbcad32.exe). As I am creating the reports I can pull data using the data sources without a problem, however when I deploy my datasource and report to Report manager and run I get the following:
An error has occurred during report processing.
Cannot create a connection to data source 'Chicago_Reporting'.
ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
This has been driving me crazy for 2 days now. Any help would be very much appreciated.

May 9, 2008I installed Postscript fonts on my local machine and they show up in the font dropdown for Office applications, but when I open a report in Visual Studio 2005 report designer, the Postscript fonts do not display in the font dropdown. I am suspecting the binarie may be of 64bit.. How do we check the binaries are 32 bit and 64 bit software

Connection Pool Leak In Production Machine (in Other Machine It Runs Well)

I'm facing a problem that drives me crazy. I've a web application that has the following problem. When I test the application on my developement machine all runs fine, but when I put into production server there is a problem in connection pooling. Look at the following image, the blue line is the number of connection in the pool and the violet line is the number of connection reclaimed. From the image it is clear that connection are returned on the pool only in block, maybe when the garbage collection pass and reclaim the object. The strange thing is that on my developement machine all is good, and also I'm using Enterprise Library and the connection are managed internally.- Thanks to everyone for any help.

Jun 7, 2007How do I find out the report that is currently being run? I have a scenario where some users run a report without knowing the amount of data that will be pulled by it... In such a case, it bogs down the server and doesn't let me access the Report Manager application.
How can I find out what is the report that is currently being run? I know I can get that information from the Show Jobs link fromm Site Settings in Report Manager. But in this case, I am not even able to login to the Report Manager. The memory (8 gigs) in the app server is fully maxed out and it doesn't log me in to the Report Manger.
I ran a query against the ExecutionLog table in the ReportServer database that logs all the executions. But it looks like the data to this table gets logged only after the report execution is completed. There is no way to tell what is being executed right now. I also checked the table RunningJobs in the ReportServer database, but there are no records in that table.
Can someone help?

Find Within Report Will Not Search Backward
Jan 5, 2007I have used SSRS since the original SQL 2000 beta, so am pretty experienced with it.
I think there may be a bug in V2.0 (2005) that did not exist in V1.0:
Have just started cutting over my V1.0 reports to V2.0 (2005). One of my users today showed me that the "Find" feature within a V2.0 report searches forward fine. In one case, a three page report, it found the first item on the third page. However, when the "Find" feature was used from that point to get something on the first page, a message was received that it could not find the item. After manually navigating back to page one, and re-entering the same data in "Find" from there, it found the data with no problem on page one.
Has anyone else seen this behavior?
