Can Not See Report Model Template In Business Intelligent Project Templates
Mar 31, 2007
Hi all,
I desperately need to setup the AD-HOC reporting on SQL server 2005.
I think one of the templates that I need is in Business Intelligent Project Templets Reporting Model Template in Visual Studio Templates.
But I do not see it in there.
Can some one please let me know where can I get the Reporting Model Template, or a link to where I can download or how to create it.
I am using VS 2003 Enterprise Architect edition and found out that my BI project template is missing. It could be caused by the fact that I had installed SQL Server Reporting Service before I installed VS 2003. Is there anyway I can recover this site template so I can start my RS project? Cheers!
Hello, I've created a Report Model Project that can be used by Report Builder to generate ad-hoc reports. I'm trying to create a connection string in my Report Server Project that points to the Report Model Project data source view.
All I can do is create a regular datasource, which bypasses the metadata contained in the Data Source View.
Basically I want my Report Server Project and my Report Builder reports to leverage the same metadata. Is this possible? If so how do I get the connection string?
is it possible to create a report server project template ? This project must have 2 datasources and 1 specific report I wanted to use the Export Template, but it isn't available. I can only use it in Developpement Studio not in BIDS.
I want to create a new report model project, however in VS Business intelligence Development Studio, I could find the report model template in the New project dialog box. Anyone coulf tell me how can I add the templeate? Thanks
When I launch Visual Studio 2005 and choose to start a new project...I expect to see "Report Model" as an available template (at least that is what my book says).
How can I install this?
Why is it missing? Is it due to the order of my installations? I installed RS first then Visual Studio.
First, I installed the sql server 2005, Second, I installed the VS.net 2005 (vb.net). After that, I uninstalled the VS.NET 2005. Then I found after I uninstalled the VS.NET, the Business Intelligent Management Studio is gone too. I install the VS.NET 2005 again.
Now I could use the Business Intelligent Management Studio to open a SSIS project and a package, but there is nothing in the toolbox in it. Also the IDE could not recognize any object inside the ETL package, like the Task, the Compoment, etc. So I think that the Business Intelligent Management Studio is still not be really installed. The IDE is the VB.NET, and something needed to deal with the ETL package is missing.
How to fix the Business Intelligent Management Studio? I mean, how to make my vb.net to deal with an ETL package agian?

I am trying to deploy my report model project to remote server which is our QA environment using Visual Studio. In my Project Property I have set the Traget Data source folder and model folder and URL. But I am getting this error any idea??? =================================== A connection could not be made to the report server "ReportServer URL for my remote server" . (Microsoft Semantic Model Designer) =================================== Client found response content type of '', but expected 'text/xml'. The request failed with an empty response. What kind of permission/role do I need to have inorder to deploy report model project on to the server. I am able to deploy same project on my local machine using visual studio.
Please tell me how to create Data Source and Data Source View in Report Model Project for OLAP Cube.Whats the provider to use while creating Data Source in Report Model Project to make connection to OLAP Cube.
I have an existing project with the data source and report folder with working reports. I need to create a model for other department members to use Report Builder, not Business Intelligence Developer Studio, to develop their reports from. How do I add a data source view and report model folder to the project so I can then create a view and model?
I have visual studio 2005 and sql server 2005 with integration service installed on my machine. Couple of days ago, I installed visual studio 2008 professional. When I go to create SSIS project I dont see it in visual studio 2008. What do I have to do to make it appear in visual studio 2008 so that I can create SSIS projects.
I have installed Visual Studio 2013 Express for Windows Desktop and Microsoft SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2013 yet there are no project templates for Analysis Services, Integration Services, and Reporting Services available when I attempt to create a new project.
Details of install are: Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2013 for Windows Desktop Version 12.0.40629.00 Update 5 Microsoft .NET Framework Version 4.5.51209 Installed Version: Desktop Express Team Explorer for Visual Studio 2013 06157-004-0441005-02546
I could not find The Reporting Service Project Template with Visual Studio 2008. It was available with Visual Studio 2005. How i can add the reporting service project into VS2008?
I need to import data from a CSV file into a db I'm designing. I figured I'd use DTS (which I understand now uses VS in the form of a 'Business Intelligence' (BI) project). My problem is that my only choices for BI projects are: Analysis Service Project, Import Analysis Services 9.0 Database, Integration Services Project, Report Server Project Wizard, Report Model Project, Report Server Project. No "Data Transformation Project". I have SQL Server 2005 Developer's Edition. Might it be that DTS is not included in that version? If I can't use DTS, what choices do I have?
Does anyone know where I can download a C# CLI Assembly template?
In VS 2005 there are no defaults to create a C# SQL Assembly like the sample HelloWorld. Rather than modifying the Hello World, I'd like to get an original template for creating a new project just like the templates to create a new Windows project.
Does anyone know how to install or make available the Data Transformation Project Template in SQL Server 2005? I can not find it using Integration Services.
I have SQL2K5 standard edition and I planned to use the CLR-UDT feature of SQL 2K5. Unfortunately, after following these links: http://www.pcquest.com/content/enterprise/2005/105041103.asp http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/a8s4s5dz(VS.80).aspx
I found that there is no SQL SERVER project template in my installation of Visual Studio 2005(which came with the SQL2K5 CD). How can I get this particular template? Is there a work around?
i have sql server 2005 dev and bids installed. i want to create a dtsx package, but when i go to File>new>project the template to create an interogation services package is not there. the template for Olap projects is missing also. it used to be present before i upgraded my system to Vista. Could this be a vista issue or do i just need to install a patch or something simple like that?
Does anyone have a successful prescribed sequence for installing VS2005 and Business Intelligence Reports Projects on a Vista Business workstation to be used to create reports for a server?
I've looked through everything I can find here and I don't seem to see a clear solution without a lot of trial and error.
Fact is, I've not been successful getting just the reports to install on a plain XP box. Of course, the report creation looks fine on the server but I don't want to work directly on the server.
I'm re-posting my inquiry back in this forum, it was moved to the Reporting Services forum and I firmly believe that this is an installation or file issue related to SQL Server 2005 Express. I have researched issues and errors in this forum regarding the installation of Business Intelligence Studio and the related services and am aware that there are were/are a lot of issues.
My problem is that I have installed the necessary components to run Reporting Services, but when I try and run the Business Intelligence Studio and try to create a project in Visual Studio, I get the following error:
"Object Reference Not Set To an Instance of An Object"
Unfortunately I have no idea what this means. I have tried searching the forums, online searches and I have not found anything. As per some of the responses in this forum, I have checked the web.config files in the ReportServer and ReportManager folders - both check out okay. I then copied all of the necessary folders over from my C: drive to my D: drive (where Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005 Express are both installed on my machine).
Unfortunately, I have no idea what to do next or how to resolve this issue.
I have installed every components for SQL 2005 Developer Edition but I still don't see Business Intelligence Project on my XP SP2 workstation. What am I missing? I'm very familiar with SSRS 2000 with VS.net 2003 but I am new to 2005. Please help me!
We are using Reporting services 2005 and have been for some time. Recently we have started using the subscriptions as well. However we have come across a problem with this.
Currently we are updating our report templates by removing them and then creating them again. This worked fine until we started using subscriptions. Now, when the reports are removed, the subscriptions that are associated with the reports are also removed.
Is there a way to update a report template, without having to remove the report first? And can this be done programmatically? The code is currently publishing the reports by calling ReportingService2005.CreateReport(name, "/" + reportFolder, false, template, null);
I have three types of specific reports that i have to create with the input parameters (range) either
1: By date (rdl 1)
2.By Month (rdl 2)
3.By Year (rdl 3)
Is it possible ( or how do I ) to create just one report template ( one rdl) with the three sets of parameters ( hiding/invisible which ever two sets base on user selection) and the output of the report will display the desired type( either by year, month or date).
I ask this because its possible to create a drill down report from year down to date etc in report designer (vs 2005). Not sure if I can create one instead of three rdls and with the 'logic' built within that template.
I have an application that uses SQL Report Builder to edit templates. When I go to add a dataset to add a custom field to the report, I get a permissions error (screenshot Error). When I check the credentials for the shared datasource, they are all grayed out, so I can’t verify the credentials being used (screenshot Error 2). According to SQL Management Studio, the user credentials have the right permissions. The weird thing is, I can access the datasets and shared datasource embedded in the report just fine. I just get a permissions error whenever trying to create a new dataset.
I have installed the advanced toolkit for Microsoft Sql server 2005, with the SQL server Business Intelligence Development Studio but I don't have the option the create a Integration Service project. I only have the Report Server project option available.
Do I have to download something else to get it?
I do not have a SQL server instance installed on the machine I installed the toolkit on.
I have installed sql server 2005 and visual studio 2005 on windows server 2003. When I select business intelligence studio from sql server, visual studio editor opens up,but i cannot find business intelligence projects template in visual studio. Please suggest some solution or workaround.
