Cannnot Get The Method=POST Value After Calling The Reporting Services
Jan 27, 2008
I have two ASP pages. Page 1 has a button that when pressed, it will display page 2. Page 2 has a button that will call the reporting service (by a URL) . The button on page 1 has the "method=post" to pass a value to page 2. Page 2 wlll use this value as variable to the reporting service.
It works fine for the first time calling the report. But after that, I go back to page 1. When press the button on page 1 and go to page 2, it cannot get the value. Is that something wrong with the reporting services.
Does anyone know if it is possible to do Post-Build Events in Reporting Services? I am using Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition and creating Reports under the Business Intelligence Projects.
When creating C# projects, when you right click on the solution and go to properties there is a tab for Build Events at which point you can create Pre-build and Post-build events; however I am not finding this option available within a Reports project. Does anyone know if this is possible to do in Reporting Services?
Basically what I am trying to accomplish is, I am having to create multiple template files and there are multiple developers going to be working on this project and I would like to create a batch file of some sort that copies the template files that are created into the IDEPrivateAssembliesProjectItemsReportProject directory each time the project is built.
I am invoking RS web services to render reports, using Apache Axis to generate stub classes from Reporting Service WSDL.
Please let me know if I can integrate Report Viewer control in the jsp where I am writing the report output. Else do I have to create my own custom tags simulating ReportViewer functionality.
I have a strange bug when trying to run SSIS. I get the message in the output window "
Information: 0x40043008 at Data Flow Task, DTS.Pipeline: Post Execute phase is beginning. " in a script component but the Post Execute method is not being called.
I have placed a firewarning as the first statement to try and debug that the procedure is being called but to no avail as it is not being output
Has anyone come across this kind of issue before or have any suggestion on how to proceed ?
After a long period of time I then got the following messge displayed
at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Wrapper.IDTSVariableDispenser90.GetVariables(IDTSVariables90& ppVariables)
at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.ScriptComponent.LockReadWriteVariables(String readWriteVariables)
at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.ScriptComponentHost.PostExecute()
Within the package I have two script components one that uses a readwrite variable to set the variable to be a date in the first script tasks PostExecute and then the second component uses the date variable in its PostExecute method. Running the package seemd to imply that the first postexecute write t the variable is somehow locking out the next component from reading the variable.
Hello, I have been wrestling with a script component and the post execute method. I have obtained some bits of information from the discussions from previous posting - http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=97494&SiteID=1 and have also tried the suggested approaches. Being new to SSIS and .NET as well I am certain that I do not see the entire picture yet.
I have a Read/Write variable that I am assigning a value to. The variable is then processed through a derived column and subsequently used by a flat file.
I have eliminated the following exception thus far.
Error: 0xC0047062 at Data Flow Task, Script Component [518]: Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.ReadWriteVariablesNotAvailableException: The collection of variables locked for read and write access is not available outside of PostExecute.
But, my flat file does not contain in it the assigned values to the variable. A brief summary of the process follows:
OLE DB SOURCE ===> followed by the Script Component ===> followed by the Derived Columns ===> followed by the flat file.
Sample Script is:
Public Class ScriptMain Inherits UserComponent
Public NewName As String
Public Overrides Sub Input0_ProcessInputRow(ByVal Row As Input0Buffer) ' ' Add your code here ' NewName = Row.BPNM
Me.Variables.ShortName = NewName
End Sub
Public Overrides Sub PostExecute()
MsgBox("In first script...") Me.Variables.ShortName = NewName MsgBox("variable is " & Me.Variables.ShortName) End Sub
Question. What am I not doing that prevents me from extracting and passing the respective values to the derived column for each of the rows processed. When I try to assign the value of NewName to the Short Name variable, In red above, I encounter the post execute exception, again.
What code should I have in place to insure that I am not trying to reference the variable on a PostExecute within the normal process of the script component? Any guidance would be immensly appreciated.
I found some dead-end threads regarding this issue but have not seen a clean solution.
Utilizing a Reporting Services security extension, I can't find a way of obtaining the reports name or identity from within the CheckAccess() method so I can use it to query an external database to ascertain authorization. In other words, my company requires the creation of custom roles that can be used from within our ASP application and well as being honored by SQL Reporting Services 2005.
If anyone can help, I would really appreciate your time!

Need some clarification on calling an SSIS package from SSRS. I have managed to get this to work, but only if I actually build the SSIS package on the report server machine. My SSIS package is very simple it. The control flow is a single data flow task. Within the data flow task is an ole db data source and a data reader destination. I verified that the package works in BIDS.
If I build it and deploy it on the report server I can execute it just fine from integration services (using the dtexec UI panel) in SSMS, no validation errors and no execution errors. If I try to build a dataset (specifying SSIS as the data source type) then immediately on referencing the package I get a "Package failed to validate error". However, if I bring the whole project over to the report server and build it then I can reference it from my Report Services project.
I'm using package deployment security of "Don't Save Sensitive" for the SSIS package with the 'sa' login. After the deployment package is built I edit the connection string to include the password. The remote execution account for the Report Server is set to the administrator of the box. I know these account permissions are overkill, but I'll iron all that out once I get the basic pieces in place and working.
This is the code which I have written in code window.
Public Shared Function CalcLocalFactor(ByVal CalcLifeCode As Integer, ByVal CalcFiscalAge As Integer, ByVal CalcLifeYearsUsed As Double, ByVal CalcLocConvention As String, ByVal CalcSRate As Integer) As Double Dim locCalcFiscalAge As Integer = 0 Dim locFactor As Double= 1.0 Dim locFactor1 As Double = 1.0 Dim REM1 As Integer = 1 Dim DEP As Double = 0 Dim YR As Integer Dim HALF_YEAR As Double Dim LINEAR As Double Dim MACR As Double If CalcFiscalAge > CalcLifeCode + 1 Then locCalcFiscalAge = 0 locFactor = 1.0 End If If (CalcLocConvention <> "HALF-YEAR" And CalcLifeYearsUsed < CalcLifeCode) Then locFactor = Math.Round((CalcLifeYearsUsed / CalcLifeCode), 4) End If If (CalcLocConvention = "HALF-YEAR") Then for YR = 1 to CalcFiscalAge step 1 If YR = CalcLifeCode + 1 Then locFactor1 = 1 Exit For End If If (YR = 1 Or YR = CalcFiscalAge) Then HALF_YEAR = 2 Else HALF_YEAR = 1 End If LINEAR = Math.Round(REM1 / (CalcLifeCode - YR + 1.5) / HALF_YEAR, 4) MACR = Math.Round(REM1 / CalcLifeCode * CalcSRate / HALF_YEAR, 4) If MACR >= LINEAR Then DEP = MACR Else DEP = LINEAR End If locFactor1 = locFactor1 + DEP REM1 = 1 - locFactor1 locFactor = locFactor1 Next End If Return locFactor End Function
I'm calling this code in a Report Parameter like below:
It is working fine for the first record where as for other records, the value is not getting changed. i.e. the first records value is coming repeatedly for all other records also.
How can I dynamically change the parameter values of the function?
Parameter is not accepting directly the field names, hence I used other parameter to initialize the field and used that parameter for this.
Ex. Parameter Name ; FieldPurchDate (internal) FieldName : PURCHDATE Other parameter: FieldInDate (internal) FieldName : InDate
While initializing the new parameter CalcPurchDate,, I used an expression for this: Parameters!CalcFiscalAge.Value
=iif(Parameters!FieldPurchDate.Value is nothing, Parameters!FieldInDate.Value,Parameters!FieldPurchDate.Value)
and using this CalcPurchDate for processing of the parameter:
I have a SSRS 2012 report which references a custom c# assembly. This report exists in multiple environments (alpha, beta and production ) which are each associated with different data sources.
Is there a way for the assembly to determine the datasource used by the calling report so it can also connect to it?
As part of UK compliance, we are going to start use an encrytption package (GNUPG), which will be running on a different Server to Reporting Services. A program has been written in C#, to handle requests (from mainframe and PC applications) to encrypt/decrypt credit card details. The encrypted card details are held in an NCR Teradata data warehouse, which Reporting Services can access. The encryption can be called using a http://server/folder/program?DATA=
In Reporting Services, a Data Source connection will be made, using an OLE DB .NET connection to the Teradata machine. SQL code will be included, which will link tables and retrieving the required fields for use in the report. I want to call the encryption program to decrypt the card number, so the actual card number can be printed in the body of the report.
There will probably be a requirement to write some parameter selection SQL as well, so a card nmuber can be entered as a report parameter field, which the SQL will have to either encrypt first, then process the SQL statement down the tables.
I have 1 project in VC++ and 1 in Vb.net I have added the VC++ project in VB.Net project using 'Add Existing item option' Now i want to use a method from VC++ project in VB.net How can i do so?????
I have a method like follows: string EmpCount = null; DateTime _dtstart = Convert.ToDateTime(txtStart.Text.Trim()); DateTime _dtend = Convert.ToDateTime(txtEnd.Text.Trim());SQLProvider sqlp = new SQLProvider(System.Configuration.ConnectionStrings["ConString"].ConnectionString);string SqlText = @" select count(*) from employee where activeemp=1 and startdate BETWEEN @dtstart and @dtend; using (sqlp.Connection) { sqlpm [] param = { new sqlpm("dtStart", _dtstart), new SqlP("dtEnd", _dtend) }; }EmpCount = sqlp.ExecuteScalar(SqlText, param).ToString(); return Convert.ToInt32(mbrCount);
Then the method I am calling is:public Object ExecuteScalar(String sqlText, Sqlp[] param) {try { //Some Code here } } So in the calling method (ExecuteScalar), the second parameter is defined as an array, is it ok to have an array in the called method too?
I've been trying to create an async transform component and one of the things I'd like to do is add a new output and/or columns to existing outputs for each input column that is selected. I thought that the SetUsageType method would be a good place to do this as it will allow me to delete output's and columns based on the user's selections but, despite the fact that my code doesn't actually throw or cause errors, when I return from the SetUsageType method I'm informed that error 0xC0047041 (DTS_E_OBJECTNOTINHASHTABLE) has occurred . I pared the method down to an absolute minimum and found that a call to GetVirtualInput is enough to push it over the edge even if it does nothing! What is wrong here? Thanks Charlie
Sample: public override IDTSInputColumn90 SetUsageType(int inputID, IDTSVirtualInput90 virtualInput, int lineageID, DTSUsageType usageType) {
I have developed a report in which I have two date parameters. when I deploy the report and view the report I can see that for each date selection it is going for a postback. could you please advice me how can I solve this issue.
I have a table is SQL server database A that is my source.
I have another database B which is accessed via webservice call.(its a CRM server basically).
My intention is to transfer data from A to B while B is accessible only via web service. I need to Trasnfer the data from the source database A to the destination Database B by calling the webservice.
Is there a way where I can retrieve whole set of rows in source table in preexecute(), And transfer the data to Database destination B by calling the webservice?

--------------------------------------------------------------- My Original Post I have to query n table(NLRImports) using the Distinct keyword, to retrieve a set of ID numbers. ( "Select DISTINCT id_nbr from NLRImport" ).
Now i want to use those values i retrieved, to process the records in the table(NLRImports) 1 by 1. How do i use those ID no's i retrieved as Variables or parameters for my next query?? If this makes sense? ----------------------------------------------------------------
First, thanks for the response.... now here is what im trying to do. I created a simple application in delphi to import information to a table in MSSql2005. This is some of the resulting columns...
Now there will be several entries with the same id no but on different dates, so i take it dates would rather be my pkey.
Then i need to take one person's entries(i work on id_nbr) and go thru all the entries taking the earliest date and comparing all the other entries for that person to the first date and select all the dates more than 19 days after the first date and less than 91 days from first date and place it in a new table. I used cursor s and while loops to kind of get it going but i know that cursors are not really recommended use but the performance implications dont bother with this particular job.
What other ways should i be using to accomplish this?
I am trying to migrate my reports from SQL server 2000 reporting services 32bit to 2005 64bit. I am following the migration steps that MS specified. Restored my Reportserver and ReportserverTempDB databases Then I was using the configure Report services to upgrade these databases but I always end up getting the follwoing exception when I run the upgrade on the "Database Setup" configuration for 'ReportServerTempDB' database System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database 'ReportServerTempDBTempDB'. No entry found with that name. Make sure that the name is entered correctly. at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ThrowExceptionAndWarning(TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.Run(RunBehavior runBehavior, SqlCommand cmdHandler, SqlDataReader dataStream, BulkCopySimpleResultSet bulkCopyHandler, TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteNonQueryTds(String methodName, Boolean async) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.InternalExecuteNonQuery(DbAsyncResult result, String methodName, Boolean sendToPipe) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() at Microsoft.ReportingServices.Common.DBUtils.ApplyScript(String connectionString, String script) at ReportServicesConfigUI.SqlClientTools.SqlTools.ApplyScript(String connectionString, String script)
It's driving me crazy, why is it looking for 'ReportServerTempDBTempDB' in the catalog instead of 'ReportServerTempDB'? Is it possible to migrate from 32bit to 64bit?
Hi, I am trying to lean ASP.NET. So I was trying to install SQL Server too. But, I could not install. The aleart box popped up:
"SQL Server set up cannot install files to the compressed or encrypted folder: C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server"
Before this, I also got a warning that the hardware of my computer does not meet the hardware requirement.
I would like to know how I can install SQL Server into my computer. Or, shouldn't I do that? To learn ASP.NET I want to have a database ready. If I can not use SQL Server, I may try Access or something smaller...
We've had this issue for awhile, but I have not been able to find a resolution for this. We have 2 identical servers (hardware & software) set-up: IBM x3850-(88633RU) running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 (5.2.3790 SP1 Build 3790 R2). Server A was running SP1 (Build 9.0.2047) on a 3-node active-passive-passive failover cluster. Server B was running SP2 + Hotfix KB933097 (Build 9.0.3152) on a 2-node active-passive failover cluster. Both these servers are heavily utilized, and when originally installed with these versions of SQL Server Enterprise 2005 experienced no issues during or post-install. The original install of SQL 2005 Enterprise on both these servers had the Cluster Group Selection "Data files" setting changed to "M:MICROSOFT SQL SERVER" so that all system dbs and binaries would be installed to that location. On Server B where SP2 had already been applied, the update was downloaded on May 1, 2007, well after the GDR issues which had been plaguing SP2 releases was supposed to have been resolved.
Our problems began the night when we tried to apply hotfix KB933097 on Server A, and cumulative update packages 1,2,3 on Servers A & B, as well as catch-up the same SP2 and hotfix packages on other non-clustered servers where default system db locations remained the same. On all servers other than Servers A and B, the installs proceeded smoothly and without issue.
On Server B, which was already running SP2 + Hotfix KB933097, we tried installing Cumulative Update Package 1 (Build 9.0.3161) on the primary node. The install proceeded until the following errors were encountered:
"[Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Cannot find the object 'dm_exec_query_resource_semaphores', because it does not exist or you do not have permission."
"[Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Cannot find the object 'dm_exec_query_memory_grants', because it does not exist or you do not have permission."
After this, the setup finished with the message "Product: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (64-bit) - Update 'Hotfix 3161 for SQL Server Database Services 2005 (64-bit) ENU (KB935356)' could not be installed. Error code 1603. Additional information is available in the log file C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90Setup BootstrapLOGHotfixSQL9_Hotfix_KB935356_sqlrun_sql.msp.log."
We rebooted the server and tried several times to reinstall the hotfix as sa and as the database service account with full windows and sa credentials, each time with no success, and rebooting between retries. All other components were installed successfully. We were hesitant to try uninstalling the hotfix, since it was unable to be removed successfully in previous attempts. However, when I connected to Database Engine using Management Studio, I found that the version of SQL being reported was in fact Build 9.0.3161! Everything also appeared to be running properly.
I tried to to Google the answer, but could only find information as applied to SP1 when system dbs master and mssqlsystemresource were located on different locations (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;918695 ). I had already verified that all system dbs, including the ones mentioned, were originally and currently located together on M:Microsoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLData.
Finally I contacted a fellow DBA who advised me to continue installing all the other hotfixes, and then compare all SQL files against other servers where the install succeeded to ensure all system files were updated correctly (matching file sizes and datetime stamps). Since we were depending on a fix in Cumulative Update Package 3 to fix a critical log-shipping security issue, I went ahead with the rest of the installs, getting the same error with each package, rebooting between each install.
We found after the final install that the mssqlsystemresource files in the M:Microsoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLData
directory were in fact updated after each install with a new timestamp, and that all files in C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLBinn matched on both file size and timestamp. The log-shipping security issue we were looking to fix also appeared to be resolved by the last update.
On Server A, which was running SP1 (Build 9.0.2047), we installed the same SP2 package as we had on Server B with no issue. We rebooted and then tried to apply the same Hotfix KB933097 (Build 9.0.3152) that had been applied successfully on Server B and found to our surprise that the same errors were being generated here as well. We continued to apply the rest of the hotfixes so that both servers matched software updates. Comparing the above directories showed that files seemed to have been updated, even though database services appeared to be not installed.
It looks like we now need Cumulative Update 5 hotfix package in order to deal with WMI alerting issues, but I'm afraid to apply it until we have a known resolution for the past errors.
Since this issue was supposed to be resolved by SP2, I'm not sure why these post-SP2 hotfixes should fail. It seems to me to be an issue of the directory location of the system files which is in question.
I can post the hotfix log files as well, if anyone is interested in seeing them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. As well, does anyone have any idea when SP3 is scheduled to come out? I really don't like applying hotfixes which are usually untested for general purposes, and it seems Microsoft is delaying this in favour of releasing SQL 2008.
I'm attempting to obtain a cost effective solution for my existing customers to develop reports on their SQL 2000 Server installations using their Reporting Services 2000. With products like Visual Basic.NET 2003 becoming almost impossible to obtain, I have at least one customer who is running into a dead end.
One option possibly is the SQL Express with Advanced Services download, which has Reporting Services. My questions are as follows:
Can the report designer component of SQL Express Reporting Services be configured to connect to an external database (which would happen to be a SQL 2000 database) to establish its datasets? Does the resultant designed report end up in an RDL file? If the customer published this report via the Reporting Services 2000 Report Manager, would the report be able to run?
Sorry for asking a question like this that I could probably answer on my own, but my customer needed this answer yesterday. I have scoured the web and microsoft sites - and posted a question on the official SQL Reporting Services cateogy ... in an attempt to answer the basic question of how to design reports for Reporting Services 2000 in the absence of Visual Basic.NET 2003 (or other .NET 2003 tools) with no success.
I used the URL approach to call the reporting service. In the ASP page, I use javascript to open a new window to view the report. But when I close the new window and work on the original window. It seems that the DB connection to the SQL server is not working.
I work in a big project and we will begin in using reporting services as the base technique for reports and I will be responsible for this part. but I have a problem I will discuss in the following:
Currently: We use currently devexpress reports and we have 2 languages(Arabic and English). the data in tables saved in two ways (Arabic and English). when the end user change the language of the web site the report data language changed when run it.
Example:
we have table with (ID, NAME_AR, NAME_EN, JobTitle_AR, JobTitle_EN). designed report will display(ID, NAME_EN, JobTitle_EN) . but the end user change the language of the system the report will

I am searching for a solution for Calling or consume a web service in SSIS through Script task. I have gone through so many links but i am able to find the exact solution. I am getting so many references, though i am unable to crack it.
My requirement is i need to call a web service URL through script task which is having a client certificate. When we are trying to connect to the URL it will ask for the certificate authentication. After calling this URL we will get a WSDL file from the web service, We need to consume that WSDL file and we need to identify the methods inside this WSDL and need to write the data available in this WSDL to the data base tables.
How can we call that web service URL( With certificate) through script task and how can we read the WSDL file and How we can load the data into DB table.
Hi, I just have a Dataset with my tables and thats it I have a grid view with several datas on it no problem to get the data or insert but as soon as I try to delete or update some records the local machine through the same error Unable to find nongeneric method... Our DBA has installed reporting services on a server and now in order to access the report manager, one has to be an Admin on that Server. I am guessing that there is a mistake in the configuration of Reporting Services. Usually it should allow anybody who was added to the roles in the properties section of the Report Manager, right? I have also added the users to the DB..
Also I am using Windows Authentication to access Report Catalog items (Reporting Services is installed on Server2) from a web Application(deployed on Server1) and displaying the report using report viewer. For some reason, server1 has to be in an Admin role on Server2 to access the report catalog/report. This is kinda strange for me as I don't want everybody to be an Admin on Server2. Can anybody please point in the right direction?
We have installed SQL Server 2005 with reporting services. When tried to open getting errors as below: how to avoid such errors See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.
