Import Failed With BCP And XML-Format-File

Jan 21, 2008

I have a table with 2 row:

CREATE TABLE [dbo].[EABL](
[DSID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
[ABLBELNR] [nvarchar](255) NULL)

If I make a XML formatfile which look like this:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<BCPFORMAT ...>
<RECORD>
<FIELD ID="1" xsi:type="CharTerm" TERMINATOR=" " MAX_LENGTH="20"/>
</RECORD>
<ROW>
<COLUMN SOURCE="1" NAME="ABLBELNR" xsi:type="SQLNVARCHAR"/>
</ROW>
</BCPFORMAT>
then the import failed with the following error message:
[Microsoft][SQL Native Client]All bound columns are not read-only

If I delete the identity column then the import works correct.

What can I do, so that I can import with the identity column ?

Thanks for you help

2005 SP2 Install Failed, And Now SQL Server Is Unusable.

Feb 26, 2007

Hi,

I have a problem with my SQL Server 2005 instance after trying to install SP2.

My machine has a default instance of SQL server 2005, and 2 instances of SQL 2005 express.

I installed Express SP2 and this installed without a hitch.

Then I installed SP2 for SQL Server 2005. After the install, all the components had installed correctly except the Database Engine, which had a status of failed. I did not investigate why, I simply re-ran the install.

It failed again, so I investigated further and I found out it failed because it had not been able to start the service VSS Writer. I looked at the service, and found I had changed the user which gives the service rights to start. I changed this back to Local System so the service could start correctly.

I then re-ran the SP2 install. This time it failed in a different place. The reason this time was my user was not a valid user for my server. This is a first, because I logged onto the database using this user name minutes before running the install. The install must have deleted my user. Then I tried to login using the sa account only for my server telling me that the sa account has been disabled.

I now cannot log into my database at all, and am stuck. If I try to rerun the install it tells me it cannot connect to the server to perform the update because there is no user.

Please Help!

SQL Server 2005 SP2 Install Failed Now Unable To Start

Feb 22, 2007

Ran the SP2 locally on a Windows Server 2003 SP1 box that had SQL Server 2005 SP1 install on it. Problem was I ran out of C: drive and it failed in the middle of upgrading the server.

I'm unable to start the SQL Server at all now. Is there any way to back this out? Don't think I can reapply any patches since the service is dead.

Eventlog now shows:
One or more files do not match the primary file of the database. If you are attempting to attach a database, retry the operation with the correct files. If this is an existing database, the file may be corrupted and should be restored from a backup.

The log shows it's unable to start SQL (blames it on permisions but it's because SQL can no longer start)

Product : Database Services (MSSQLSERVER)
Product Version (Previous): 2047
Product Version (Final) :
Status : Failure
Log File : C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90Setup BootstrapLOGHotfixSQL9_Hotfix_KB921896_sqlrun_sql.msp.log

Error Description : MSP Error: 29538 SQL Server Setup did not have the administrator permissions required to rename a file: C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDATAmssqlsystemresource1.mdf. To continue, verify that the file exists, and either grant administrator permissions to the account currently running Setup or log in with an administrator account. Then run SQL Server Setup again.

I'm guessing its reinstall time but not sure how the attached databases will like that idea.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I'm at a complete loss, but I am sure the error is something about the configuration with this computer. I have fond a couple of posts on other web sites where people have similar errors, but no feedback on the error or even ideas on what to look at.

ANY recommendations would be helpful!!

SQL 2005 Failed - Cannnot Install Files To The Compressed Or Encrypted..

Feb 15, 2007

Hi, I am trying to lean ASP.NET. So I was trying to install SQL Server too. But, I could not install. The aleart box popped up:

"SQL Server set up cannot install files to the compressed or encrypted folder: C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server"

Before this, I also got a warning that the hardware of my computer does not meet the hardware requirement.

I would like to know how I can install SQL Server into my computer. Or, shouldn't I do that? To learn ASP.NET I want to have a database ready. If I can not use SQL Server, I may try Access or something smaller...

Thanks in advance.

Compile Error: Redefinition Of IRowsetBookmark (VS 2005)

Aug 25, 2007

Hello,

actually i try to create a native c++ desktop-application that will have to access a SQL CE 3.1 db-file over OLE DB. For that purpose i want to use the same self written wrapper class(for the OLE DB stuff) that i use for a native WM2003 application that creates the db files to be accessed on the desktop application.
The WM2003 application including my wrapper class compiles fine with eVC++ 4.0.
But now with VS 2005 including the same class i got this compile error: "Redefinition of class IRowsetBookmark". I have to add that i used the application wizard to generate a mfc sdi application with database support(ODBC is used in this app, too).
I figured out that in the following 2 inlcuded files IRowsetBookmark is defined:
1)The manually included "ssceoledb30.h" in my wrapper class.
2)The probably from the application wizard included "oledb.h" (in "Microsoft Visual Studio 8VCPlatformSDKInclude")

My workaround for the moment is to comment the class definition in the file "ssceoledb30.h" out because i don't use this OLE DB interface in my wrapper class. But i don't think that this is the way that microsoft supposed to go.

Does anybody had this problem and solved it other way than simply comment one of the class definition out?

I would appreciate it when someone out there knows the answer and could tell me.

Kind regards,
Andre

Create a new job in SQL Server Management Studio with only onestep, this only step's commandtype is set to "Operating system(CmdExec)", and click the "Open"button to choose E:firefly est.batfile, then the commands in test.bat are copyed to the command editor.5. Save the job and run it, Management Studio tells the job faild, butdid not tell an error message.If I only use the following command :copy E:firefla.txt Efirefly.txt, and SQLAgent canrun the command successfully via the job.The real functionality of our job is to backup database to a file,then use our source control tool'scommand line tool to submit the backup file to the server.

Failed To Install And Configure Error On Install

Nov 14, 2007

Hi,

I've tried looking for a solution in other threads but I couldn't find anything that was completely the same as my situation. I got a new pc at work and I've tried installing SQL Server 2005 on it but everytime I try to install it, regardless of services included or excluded with the install, I cannot get through the install without this error. Below is the excerpt from the Summary.txt log file.

I've searched for and found similar problems that deal with the microsoft.sqlserver.notificationservices.dll not being found but I haven't found a fix that worked for me. These are the fixes I've refered to thus far.

http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1651162&SiteID=17

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940971

http://www.microsoft.com/products/ee/transform.aspx?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=9.00.1399.06&EvtSrc=setup.rll&EvtID=29549&EvtType=sqlcasqlassembly.cpp@Do_sqlAssemblyRegSvcs@Do_sqlAssemblyRegSvcs@x80131501

The answer that seems to fix this problem for everyone is to set the MSDTC service login as the NT AUTHORITYNetworkService account. The problem for me is that this is already set to this profile and I've tried resetting the services and rebooting the machine. I did not have a problem with my old machine, which as far as I can tell, is the same configuration, so I know this install should work.

I'm running Windows XP SP2. This is not the upgrade to SQL Server 2005 SP2, this is the original disk that came with Visual Studio 2005.

Has anyone else faced this issue where changing the MSDTC login wasn't the solution? Also, this is my first post, so I apologize if I've left anything out. Just let me know if you want any other information.

Thank you in advance.
Tim

Failed to install SQL Server 2005 Enterprise (x86) on one server

I am trying to install SQL Server 2005 Enterprise on one of my test server. I am sure I entered the correct domain user name and password and the account is admin. I€™ve tried several times but I got this error instantly:

Some of the other component could be installed properly. The system was just rebuilt with only VSTS 2005 installed.

BULK INSERT Format File Problems With SQLNUMERICAL In SQL-Server 2005 Express

May 24, 2006

I'm trying to set up a BULK INSERT Format File for some data that I've been sent, which, according to the data documentation, comes in fixed-width format fields (no delimiters except for end-of-row 0D0A) in SQL-Server 2005 Express.

The following is the first line...
"7999163 09182003 56586 56477 3601942 1278 22139 1102 113 118 51450 1 1 63535647 10000
7999162 09182003 56586 56477 3601942 1279 22139 1102 113 118 51450 1 1 63535647 10000 "

Looking with a hex editor, all the above whitespace are 20's.

From the documentation, I've constructed the following table...

CREATE TABLE MQIC.DBO.ORDER_F
(
TRACER_ID NUMERIC (10,0),
DB_CREATE_DATE CHAR (8),
DB_UPDATED_DATE CHAR (8),
CREATE_DATE_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
ORDER_DATE_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
PATIENT_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
ORDER_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
PROVIDER_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
LOCATION_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
ORDER_TYPE_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
STATUS_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
PRIMARY_INSURANCE_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
EXISTENCE NUMERIC (1,0),
DURATION NUMERIC (4,0),
NUMBER_OF_VISITS NUMERIC (3,0),
ACTIVITY_TRACER_ID NUMERIC (10,0),
AGE_KEY NUMERIC (10,0)
)

To Bulk Insert this, I've written the following...

BULK INSERT MQIC.DBO.ORDER_F
FROM 'E:MDataOrder_F.txt'
WITH
(
FORMATFILE = 'E:MDataOrder_F_format.txt'
)

and written the following format file...

9.0
17
1 SQLNUMERIC 0 10 "" 1 TRACER_ID ""
2 SQLCHAR 0 8 "" 2 DB_CREATE_DATE ""
3 SQLCHAR 0 8 "" 3 DB_UPDATED_DATE ""
4 SQLNUMERIC 0 10 "" 4 CREATE_DATE_KEY ""
5 SQLNUMERIC 0 10 "" 5 ORDER_DATE_KEY ""
6 SQLNUMERIC 0 10 "" 6 PATIENT_KEY ""
7 SQLNUMERIC 0 10 "" 7 ORDER_KEY ""
8 SQLNUMERIC 0 10 "" 8 PROVIDER_KEY ""
9 SQLNUMERIC 0 10 "" 9 LOCATION_KEY ""
10 SQLNUMERIC 0 10 "" 10 ORDER_TYPE_KEY ""
11 SQLNUMERIC 0 10 "" 11 STATUS_KEY ""
12 SQLNUMERIC 0 10 "" 12 PRIMARY_INSURANCE_KEY ""
13 SQLNUMERIC 0 1 "" 13 EXISTENCE ""
14 SQLNUMERIC 0 4 "" 14 DURATION ""
15 SQLNUMERIC 0 3 "" 15 NUMBER_OF_VISITS ""
16 SQLNUMERIC 0 10 "" 16 ACTIVITY_TRACER_ID ""
17 SQLNUMERIC 0 10 "
" 17 AGE_KEY ""

However... actually running this gives the following error...

Msg 4863, Level 16, State 4, Line 1
Bulk load data conversion error (truncation) for row 1, column 13 (EXISTENCE).
Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The OLE DB provider "BULK" for linked server "(null)" reported an error. The provider did not give any information about the error.
Msg 7330, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
Cannot fetch a row from OLE DB provider "BULK" for linked server "(null)".

Since this is my first time with this, I read the BOL items on Bulk Insert, Format Files, and each of the formatting attibutes, and made up two line "toy" examples for SQLCHAR and SQLINT, including two columns - all worked as expected.

It seemed that only SQLNUMERIC/SQLDECIMAL fell apart.

Even the following trivial example doesn't work for this field of data...

"7999163 "

CREATE TABLE MQIC.DBO.ORDER_F
(
TRACER_ID NUMERIC (10,0)
)

and

9.0
1
1 SQLNUMERIC 0 10 " " 1 TRACER_ID ""

or

9.0
1
1 SQLNUMERIC 0 10 "" 1 TRACER_ID ""

which give this error...

Msg 9803, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Invalid data for type "numeric".
The statement has been terminated.

or

9.0
1
1 SQLNUMERIC 0 10 "/r/n" 1 TRACER_ID ""

which gives this error...

Msg 4832, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Bulk load: An unexpected end of file was encountered in the data file.

Also - there was the DB_CREATE_DATE and DB_UPDATED_DATE CHAR (8) were supposed to be dates in the format of mmddyyy but clearly there is no Date datatype in SQL-Server. I would suppose these need to be converted, but am unsure how. What is clear is that the data was dumped from Oracle in text form,

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks!

Cannot fetch a row from OLE DB provider "BULK" for linked server "(null)".

Also - the DB_CREATE_DATE and DB_UPDATED_DATE CHAR (8) were supposed to be dates in the format of mmddyyy but clearly there is no Date datatype in SQL-Server. I would suppose these need to be converted, but am unsure how. What is clear is that the data was dumped from Oracle in text form,

Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks!

(
TRACER_ID NUMERIC (10,0),
DB_CREATE_DATE CHAR (8),
DB_UPDATED_DATE CHAR (8),
CREATE_DATE_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
ORDER_DATE_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
PATIENT_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
ORDER_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
PROVIDER_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
LOCATION_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
ORDER_TYPE_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
STATUS_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
PRIMARY_INSURANCE_KEY NUMERIC (10,0),
EXISTENCE NUMERIC (1,0),
DURATION NUMERIC (4,0),
NUMBER_OF_VISITS NUMERIC (3,0),
ACTIVITY_TRACER_ID NUMERIC (10,0),
AGE_KEY NUMERIC (10,0)
)

To Bulk Insert this, I've written the following...

BULK INSERT MQIC.DBO.ORDER_F
FROM 'E:MDataOrder_F.txt'
WITH
(
FORMATFILE = 'E:MDataOrder_F_format.txt'
)

and written the following format file...

9.0

(
TRACER_ID NUMERIC (10,0)
)

and

9.0

Managed Code In SQL Server 2005 And Stored Procedure Name Qualification

Mar 11, 2008

All --
Please help.
I am using managed code in SQL Server 2005 and have a question about stored procedure name qualification.
With a VS.NET 2005 Pro Database project, when I use >Build, >DeploySolution, it works great but my stored procedures are named with qualification using my domainusername.ProcName convention, something like this...
XYZ_TECHKamoskiM.GetData
 ...when I want them to be named with the dbo.ProcName convention, something like this...
dbo.GetData
...and I cannot see where this can be changed.
Do you happen to know?
Please advise.
(BTW, I have tried going to this setting >Project, >Properties, >Database, >AssemblyOwner, and putting in the value "dbo" but that does not do what I want.)
(BTW, as a workaround, I have simply scripted the procedures, so that I can drop them and then add them back with the right names-- but, that is a bit tedious and wasted effort, IMHO.)
Thank you.

Does Sql Server 2005 Enterprise Edition Support Managed Code ?

Aug 4, 2006

Dear friends,

please help,

let me tell you what happens,

1) first i installed Sql Server 2005 Enterprise Edition, everything was working fine except i was not able to create managed objects from BI, like stored procedures, triggers, UDT, etc etc.

2) so i installed VS.net 2005 complete + Sql Server 2005 Express Edition

now i was able to create stored procedures, triggers, etc etc, i'm talking about the CLR objects, ok, i.e. the managed code, but........ i was only able to do this from Sql Server 2005 Express Edition.

whenever i try to create managed objects CLR like stored procedures and stuff from the Sql Server 2005 Enterprise edition it gives me the following error :

"The Sql Server supplied by these connection properties, does not support managed code, please choose a different server"

please help meeeee.. please please, tell me what's the problem ?

below i'm attaching a screenshot of the error....

' The Definition Of Object [object Name] Has Changed Since It Was Compiled' Error When Altering A Trigger In 2005

Aug 17, 2007

Hello All

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this question to, so if it's not, please accept my apologies.

I'm working in SQL Server 2005 with a database that was migrated to 2005 from SQL Server 2000. I have to alter a trigger on a table for some functionality changes, and when I modify the trigger and then access it through the application the database is working with, I receive this error:

There was a error in the [stored procedure name] procedure. Error Number: -2147217900 Error Description: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The definition of object '[trigger name]' has changed since it was compiled.

[stored procedure name] and [trigger name] are where the actual names appear in the message.

I've tried running sp_recompile on the trigger, stored procedure, and table that are associated with this, and nothing works. I have dropped the trigger, which allows the save process to complete (but doesn't perform the required functionality, of course), and then re-created the trigger, but the error message still comes up. The compatibility level for the database is SQL Server 2000 (80) (as it was migrated from SQL Server 2000 as I mentioned above).

Has anyone seen this, and if so, how can I fix it?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Jay

When Using A Sqldataadapter In VS 2005 I Get The Following Error At Runtime. Object Reference Not Set To An Instance Of An Object

Dec 21, 2006

Help! I have posted this before and I had hoped that the VS2005 SP1 would help my problem. It didn't. My code is shown below. I have dropped a sqlconnection, sqldataadapter and a strongly-typed dataset from the toolbox onto the component designer for my page and written my code. It compiles without any errors but at runtine I receive the system error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." The error occurs at the first line where the sqldataadapter is mentioned. I have shufflled the code and the error still occurs at first mention of the dataadapter. I have set parameters to a simple string such as "myemail." It hasn't helped. I have used the "Dim" statement as "Dim DaAuthorLogin as System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataadapter and Dim DaAuthorLogin as New ......) at the start of the private sub generated by the event requiring the data. Nothing helps. Here is my simple code to select data from a sqlserver 2000 database. Why do I continue to get this error?
