Cannot Connect To An .mdf Database In Windows Forms

Hi,
I have SQLExpress and SQL2005 both installed on my W2K3 server. I can access my databases with SQL2005 without problems.
As far as my memory serves me, I have not made any manual changes to the SQLExpress setup - nor will I as my users will have no knowledge as to how to - it must be an out-of-the-box solution.
I am using VS2005 to create a Windows Form project. I used VS2005 IDE to create a database as MyBookings.mdf . I have, in the IDE successfully created a table. This is all using SQLExpress.
I now wish to access the database and have the following as my connection string:

The following error message is generated when I try to access the db from within my program:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException:A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.)
The SQL log enties for my past several tries are:

I have spent 2 days researching this and have come up with no solution.

Hello Everyone,
I have a Report Server setup on my laptop (XP Pro SP2). I have developed a report which I would like to view from a Windows Forms Application (VB.NET) using a ReportViewer. When I try it from the local machine it works correctly, but if I try to connect and preview the same report from my other PC (Vista Home Premium) I am getting the "Unable to connect to the remote server. A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because the connected host failed to respond." error.
I have setup the Processing mode to Remote and correctly setup the ReportPath and ReportServerUrl using:

I have a windows forms application that I would like to put in production on several machines. Each machine will contain it's own data and does not need to be networked.
I can use my local connection right now to access the data, but I would like to change my connection so that it will work when installed on a client's machine.
My Current connection string looks like this:
Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename="C:Documents and SettingsMYNAMEMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2005ProjectsInterimApplicationInterimApplicationInterim.mdf";Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True
I believe I could use something like this:

However, I am not sure. Also, if the client does not install to the default directory, then this may cause the application to not work properly.
Lastly, I am not sure if the client machine needs any additional software on their computer in order for the application to be capable of connecting to the data source.
Any recommendations, ideas, comments, or general help is greatly appreciated.

Hallo there,
I just upgraded from Windows XP Pro to Windows Vista Bussiness and tried to reinstall SQL Server 2005 Developers Edition. After the installation i downloaded (using microsoft windows update) and installed all the service packs for sql and vista available.
My problem is when i open sql server management studio and try to connect to my default instance using windows authentication and database engine, an 18456 error occurs.
I enabled all the protocols and all the ports
I disabled windows firewall and antivirus (eset nod32)
I installed all service packs available
I have also installed Visual Studio 2005 without installing sqlexpress
But nothing happens!
Please i am very desperate, any information will be gratefully accepted.

I'm getting the below error message:
Autogrow of file 'FORMS' in database 'FORMS' cancelled or timed out after 30547 ms. Use ALTER DATABASE to set a smaller FILEGROWTH or to set a new size.
FORMS.LDF file is 7613952 KBand the growth is 512MB .
By how much should I set the filegrowth? The users are complaining that the application is freezing on them.
This is sqlserver 2000.

We have a SQL database on a non standard instance. If I open SQL server manager and connect to that database using integrated Windows Authentication I can basically do whatever I want with that database.However, if I try to connect to that database remotely (or even from the sql server) using a test connection UDL it only works if I use Windows integrated security. If I specify my account details specifically (or any other account which has access) it doesn't want to connect.

I have an SSIS package that I would really like to launch right out of a Windows form, is this possible? Also, some of the variables for the SSIS package are captured via the windows form, is there any way to pass this on to the SSIS package and then executing it? Can someone point me in the right direction to how to do this.

I have a user who is trying to access the SQL 2005 server with 2 seperate accounts(using Windows Authentication). With one account he can connect just fine, but with the seccond he recieves a logon fail error. The only difference that we can tell is that the first account uses a password for our kerberos domain, and the second (that fails) uses a longer pass phrase (which does use spaces as characters). My intuition tells me that shouldn't matter, but I've been wrong before. Can anyone confirm this, or correct me if I'm wrong? This is using ASP.NET 2005 for the front end. Hello all,
I would like my newly converted to .NET 2.0 Windows Forms application to use an Sql Express database instead of MSDE. Previously, development was done on the default SQL Server instance using the full SQL Server 7.0. When deployed, MSDE was used with a named instance. The connection string in the application settings needed to be modified as part of the deployment. Now I've converted to .NET 2.0 and to Sql Server 2005, and/or Sql Express.
What I'd really like to do now is have a project within my solution that, when built, creates the database by running scripts, and deploys that database to the output directory of the executable.
I want this to run as part of a continuous integration solution that, so that every so often, the entire project is checked out, built (code and data), all is copied to a bin/[debug,release] directory, unit tests run, etc.
Has anyone done this successfully? Any pointers?

Using Forms Authentication With Windows Apps--
I've used the code from UILogon.aspx (Forms Authentication Security Extension) to extend a proxy server in a windows application to manage the cookie when connecting to a Reporting Services web service.
When the proxy class is instantiated I get this error on the AuthCookie property:

The code executes properly in UILogon.aspx and AuthCookie is set to a null reference.

Hello. I've read some similar topics (most of them on this forum), but none of them helped.
I have a stored procedure which runs fine on SQL Server (in 0 ms). The problem occurs when i try to run it under a WindowsForm application (C#).
The following code

It's not a problem with the CommandTimeout or the ConnectionTimeout (from within the connection string), they are both set to 300 (and even when set to 0, the problem is the same).
It's very strange, because only two stored procedures don't work, the others work without any problems and under SQL Server (using EXEC stored_procedure) all of them work fine. It seems like the stored procedure is executed, but no response is returned to the client (the WinForm app), thus the timeout exception.

I am having a problem connecting my .net applications from the application server to the database server. When I run the application from my windows xp (sp2) box it works fine. When I try to connect via SQL Management Studio to the database server from the application server I get the same error.
Here is the error:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
Here is the Environment:
App Server:
Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
Inside Company's Firewall/ Network
Database Server:
Windows Server 2000 Advanced Edition
SQL Server 2000 SP4
Remote Connections to the Server is checked
Enable Protocols: Named Pipes & TCP/IP
TCP/IP Port: 1402 (I don't know why it isn't the default of 1433)
The db server is sitting out side the Company's firewall (don't ask me why). I can access it fine from inside the firewall on my XP box but not from windows server 2003. There is a web server outside the our network that also connects to the db server with no problem and that is running Windows Server 2003 Web Edition.
I can ping the db server from the app server using the IP address.
I tried using the IP address and the port 1402 in my connection string but that didn't work from any machine (XP and Server).
I imagine the issue is somehow related to the company's firewall but why would it only block Windows Server 2003 and not XP?
What do I tell the network admin to change?
Any help would be appreciated.

every 1 hour my server's computer is restarting !
when the windows finish restarting i open the Event viewer and see that what coused it is the error :
"Report Server Windows Service (MSSQLSERVER) cannot connect to the report server database."

This should be a fairly simple question. It's based on this error message:"Transaction count after EXECUTE
indicates that a COMMIT or ROLLBACK TRANSACTION statement is missing.
Previous count = 1, current count = 0." I get this when executing a stored procedure upon processing a form. This error happens when I intentionally provide input to the stored procedure that I know should cause it to error out. I catch the exception, and it contains the error message, but it also contains the above message added on to it, which I don't want. I won't post the entire stored procedure. But I'll list a digest of it (Just those lines that are significant). Assume that what's included is what happens when I provide bad input:BEGINBEGIN TRYBEGIN TRANSACTION RAISERROR('The item selected does not exist in the database.', 16, 1); COMMIT -- This won't execute when the RAISERROR breaks out to the CATCH block END TRY BEGIN CATCHROLLBACKDECLARE @ErrorSeverity INT, @ErrorMessage NVARCHAR(4000)SET @ErrorSeverity = ERROR_SEVERITY()SET @ErrorMessage = ERROR_MESSAGE() RAISERROR(@ErrorMessage, @ErrorSeverity, 1) END CATCH END Okay, so that works fine. I have a asp.net 2.0 web application. In one of the modules I have following scenario. In the UI there are 3 pages to take the input from the user. On the 1st page, we are inserting data in the master table and with the same we are beginning new sql transaction with the isolation level READ UNCOMMITTED. so that uncommited master table data can be read. Master table has also has 4 detail tables. Then the user is navigated to 2nd and then to 3rd page where the user can enter multiple records in the detail tables. And only after finishing on the 3rd page, the transaction is commited.
I want to ask that is it the right way of doing this kind of functionality?
And is there any other way of doing this?

Alright, I have been dealing with this issue for a few days now, and have found a few solutions but they all seem to throw different errors so I figured I'd ask here.
What i am trying to do is have a webform where user enter data, and have the data passed across forms, then displayed and inserted into a database on another form. THe first for has an asp:rangevalidator control dymamicly built so I cannot simply take of the tags and use the old style.
Eventually the user will be directed to a paypal form, and upon successful completion be redirected to the page with the insert command within it, but for now, passing it to a second page for review, then inserting it will work.
I am not sure how to accomplish this, a tutorial or a code example would be great!! I have though about panels, creating public objects, etc, but all the solutions I have found have one issue or another when I attempt to create them.
I'm using asp.net 1.1, VB.net and SQL server.

When attempting SQL Replication I am getting an error that the user I setup for connecting to the Distribution database was unable to connect. I have setup a domain administrator user on our Domain (Active Directory) with the name of SDP. In order to test the SDP login I attempted to connect as DOMAINSDP, and it failed. If I login to Windows (2000) as SDP I can connect to the Server using Windows Authentication without any problem.
Why can I not connect using SQL Server Authentication as DOMAINSDP when I am logged into Windows as kblum? Is there some sort of setting that I need to establish to allow this?

I'm writing some VB.net 2005 windows applications which connect to various tables within SQL Server 2005.
If my programs are running from C drive, I have no problems connecting to my database.
but if i run my exe file from a network drive, then the SQL server doesnt recognise the user's pc, and wont allow my program to access any data.
Can anyone help me with this problem?

Hi.
I wonder if it is possible to set forms authentication for report manager but leave report server "as it is". I need to authenticate users from external LDAP and can't use windows authentication for report manager, but I would also like to leave report server open for anonymous users. In that way authenticated administrators could create reports which anonymous users could read.
I tested the Security Extension Sample and got it working when I rewrote the authentication part with my own LDAP authentication.
If I have understood correctly, the report manager is just application inside report server so is it possible to use forms authentication with one application but still leave the report server with Windows authentication?

Just spoke w/ our network admin and he mentioned that we use SPI, so being brand new to ASP, i did some googling and found this string:
the username and password is the account i have for the database, which is windows authentication, so i made sure the domain was in there. i am unsure of what i am doing wrong.

WE have an appl testing the SQL security feature, at some point in time
they drop the BUILTINAdministrators group from the login,
changed the security mode to "Windows NT only", but no users have system admin
server role, after the SQL server was restarted, no one can connect to the server. No one has authority to change the security mode back to "mixed"
(all standard logons will not work)
Any comment ?
The way I can think of to fix the problem:
detach all user databases
run rebuildm.exe
reattach all user databases
recreate the required logins
Any other suggestions/solutions, Thanks

I'm trying to connect to a database using my virtual machine, where I´m logged in as another user than the one that's granted acccess to the database. Can I enter the windows username and password used to connect to my SQL 2005 database, in Windows Authentication Mode?

I have to search the keyword from windows application using dtSearch. when user enter the list of keywords in UI, i have to connect to dtSearch tool and based on the output return, the matched keyword should be added to database table.
Now, i have problem in connecting this tool from my application.

Currently I cannot connect to a database, I got the system.exception €śPlatformNotSupportedExcoption€?. This database is Polish (COLLATE Polish_CI_AS), when I collate this database to latin general it works fine. I connect by using the system.data.sqlclient.sqlconnection, as far as I can see I cannot set the locale identifier here€¦ What can I do???

I am not able to connect to SQL Database server using windows authentication when I am connected through VPN connection.However I am able to connect to same server using SQL server authentication and also able to do RDP to DB server machine.
I found a resolution in one of the forum suggesting to change UserRasCredentials to 0 value in *.pdk file.Since VPN connection which I am using generates instant proxy this resolution doesn't work.
Also application which I am using does windows authentication connection it is required for me to impersonate windows authetication when connected using VPN.

Any one tell me the code to connect to .sdf file in c# windows application?And tell the requirments to conncet.My sdf file path is this

I write this code.It is not working
