Cannot Create A Connection To The Datasource 'DataSource1'
Jan 23, 2007
Hello, I Created a report with reportbuilder, after clicking on Run Report I got this message, Its very strange it seems that its trying to generate or create a datasource.
Para obtener más información acerca de este error, vaya al servidor de informes en el equipo del servidor local o habilite los errores remotos
----------------------------
No se puede crear una conexión al origen de datos 'dataSource1'.
----------------------------
Error al procesar el informe.
I successfully created the a Report model and deployed it to the server. When i run the a simple report on the SQL Server where reporting Services is installed it runs fine. When I run the report from anywhere else, I get the error below. I don't have a datasource called 'dataSource1'.
For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors ---------------------------- Cannot create a connection to data source 'dataSource1'. ---------------------------- An error has occurred during report processing.
I have installed Operations Manager on one server and Reporting Services for Operations Manager on another. When I attempt to run reports from Operations Manager, I receive the following message: Cannot Create a Connection to Data Source "DataSource1" Any suggestions?
I have develop any report in reporting services on server Development. i deploy my report to server production. i have connection to cube as data source. if open report manager in server production and open the report, its succesfully. the report is open. but if i open report manager in server development show error
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot create a connection to data source 'PNL'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine i use windows authentication in my pnl datasource.
I'm trying to use WSS3 & RS 2005 as Integration Mode. But i cannot create a data source item on sharepoint site library.
If i go to Central Administration > Configure Reporting Services Integration,
I can see the settings, thats mean that the Report Server is available ( i think so ) And also i can create dataources on Central Administration Web site (//servername:12500)
But from my production server web site ( //servername/ ), i cannot create those items.
I received the message
An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode.
Can somebody help me to fix that strange behavior.
have developed a report on a test server which I can access from i./e. http://localhost/reports
DataSourcce is accessed using a sql login
My colleague on his machine can not access. His error is:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Cannot create a connection to data source 'MarketAnalytics'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors
I have one problem with my reports. I have one Cube and every week, we process the cube to recalculate the measures. Before, my report can be displayed with any problem but know, since we process the cube, we can't see the reports based on the cube. The errors display in the report manager are : rsProcessingAborted and rsErrorOpeningConnection.
When i try to access the report directly from my local project thanks to visual studio, the reports works well.
I think that it may be a problem of rights and abilitations. Or maybe it'a an IIS problem ? Or a firewall problem ?
Does anyone out there have any ideas on the best way to connect in integration services to a nonstop sql database running on a tandem computer? We have some odbc drivers that have proven to be problematic and slow to use. What oledb products I can find apparently come with something that's around $36K per processor to buy. Thanks.
Hi All, I need to write a report which will run based on the user's input for Server Group. Meaning, if the user wants the report to be run for one say, UAT group, the report (and therefore the stored procedure) should be executed against UAT server. Or, if the user wants it to be run on the Production machine, the stored procedure should be executed on the Production Server. Assume that both UAT and Production servers are in the same domain to rule out any authentication issue.
I think one way of doing it is to create a linked server on one server which we use to connect via the Report Manager. So, whatever Server Group is selected based on that the SP will be executed on that respective Server Group's Server, since in the query we will have given full names of the tables that we use.
But, I strongly suspect, that having linked servers will not be accepted since it requires that the server owners maintain that. So, I was thinking if there is any other way of achieving this. If anyone knows, please help me with this.
Thanks a lot and let me know if the question is not clearly stated.
I have windows 2003 reporting services 2005 that has been working fine. Now all of a sudden when I go to http://localhost/reports I am unable to assign security to folders(the link is hidden) the New data source button is hidden, the new folder button is hidden, upload folder and report builder are also hidden. I am logged in as aministrator.
Also when I connect to reporting services through SQL Mgmt Studio I have the same issue, there are no options for permissions only a general option.
I'm sure it's a permissions issue but what do i do to resolve?
I'm trying to create report with datasource as a cube. I'm able to connect to datasource to pull data with a single parameter. But, I'm unable to succeed in creating a cascading parameter. The following scenario: I have a dimension "Period" as Paremeter. The Period dimension is cascaded to year- quarter- month. So, I would like to create a cascading parameter for period as year - quarter - month.
1. As per my current development SQL Sever Analysis Database consists of two Cube (Cube A and Cube B). Cube A and Cube B share the same data source view (DSV1). The source for both these cubes has the same data source (DS1).
2. As per the requirement I need to create third Cube i.e. Cube C. Is it possible to create a second Data Source View (DSV2). The Source of second Data Source View (DSV2) will be the same data source(DS1).
I am thinking to create second Data Source View (DSV2) for Cube C because existing layout of the DSV1 has become complex. I wanted to know the pros and cons of creating a multiple data source view with same data source
I have create a batch file, that creates an ODBC then updates the application datasource key in the registry to the new system dsn name.
The problem is that the new DSN doesn't work when i try and connect the application...but if i had manually created the odbc source the app connects as expected... i have checked the registry and there is no difference between the two dsns created...but the application throws IM002[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified after i have also changed the applications registry key to point to the new database.
Now the interesting things to note are that when i re-create the odbc to the old server and database (sql 2000) by batch file it works fine. The new ODBC is linking to a sql 2005 database, but it is still using the 2000 drivers and when i manually created it, it worked also.
Another interesting thing is that if i go into the odbc dsn and click configure, go through and test the connection it works fine... after i close this i then retry the application and it opens correctly...
I need this to be automated with no manual intervention, as this will be added to a large group of users login scripts!
I've written a DTS Package to pull information from a number of servers. I have a list of servers (Source Servers) and for each one I automatically update the Datasource property of the Source Server connection using vbscript in an ActiveX Script task and a global variable.
I have a transformation that occurs between the Source server and Target server.
As I process each Source Server in turn, the global variable gets set correctly and so does the Datasource property of the Source Server connection. However the transformation still runs against the first Source Server that was processed.
Looking at BOL it appears that a transformation stays connected even after it has finished. Therefore I assume that although I change the Datasource of the connection to a new server, it still runs against the first server that was used.
My question is how do I get the connection to run against the updated Datasource, i.e. do I need to do a refresh of the Connection, disconnect or what ?
I am using ADOX to create linked tables in a jet database from an ODBC datasource. The tables in the ODBC data source does not have a primary key. so I am only able to create read only linked tables. But I want to update the records also. I tried adding a primary key column to the linked table while creating the link. but I am getting an error while adding the table to the catalog.
The error message is "Invalid Argument".
I use the following code for creating the linked table
Sub CreateLinkedTable(ByVal strTargetDB As String, ByVal strProviderString As String, ByVal strSourceTbl As String, ByVal strLinkTblName As String)
Dim catDB As ADOX.Catalog Dim tblLink As ADOX._Table
' Name the new Table and set its ParentCatalog property ' to the open Catalog to allow access to the Properties ' collection. .Name = strLinkTblName .ParentCatalog = catDB
' Set the properties to create the link. Dim adoxPro As ADOX.Property
I have a stored procedure that takes a date range and returns all the sales in that date range. I'm trying to create the report model for ad-hoc reporting. When I go to create the dataset view, it only lets me select tables or views.... how do I get around this?
I'm trying to get some proof of concept reports made for a MOSS / SQL Server 2005 (sp2) Integrated solution. I have a simple report that displays everything in the 'incident' uploaded to the MOSS server, and it works fine.
I've made another report that uses a line chart to plot some averages. This report, called 'Average Control Time by Weekday' works 100% ok in VS2005 preview mode and both reports use the same datasource. The report is uploaded and the dataset is all linked up.
When I view the report (by clicking on it's link on my Sharepoint Site), however, I get an error:
An error has occurred during report processing.
Query execution failed for data set 'DataSource1'.
Invalid object name 'incident'.
I've checked the SQL that was run in the SQL Server Profiler to see what transactions were hitting the database. The query that the report makes when in VS2005 Preview mode is precicely the same as what Sharepoint makes when it tries to render the report.
I made another plain report (just a table view) that uses the same query as the 'Average Control' report and tested it on Sharepoint, and it works perfectly. Any ideas?
p.s. I even asked I-God (http://www.titane.ca/concordia/dfar251/igod/main.html) all he said was that I would need a court order to get rid of the recursion in AIML... and then asked for my credit card number.
I went to look at the connection string previously entered for a dataset created in a new report, and am not seeing anything intuitive for bringing up the associated datasource dialog box that was used to enter name, type and connection string. I'm also noticing nothing intuitive for deleting an existing dataset. How do you do these two very simple things in an existing project? I dont see the dataset in solution explorer, I see it only in the text box on the data tab and in a limited kind of way on the dataset view where the columns show and maint is allowed mostly on the columns only. I tried hilighting the dataset here and hitting the delete key to no avail.
I am having trouble creating a connection to an MS SQL 2000 database located on a server at the hosting company I'm using, with code running from my localhost. It works when the code is executed on the server at my hosting company, but not when it is executed locally, on my computer. Also, I can't connect to the database using Enterprise Manager. The error I get is this:
SQL Server does not exist or access denied
It has worked before, so I don't understand why it doesn't anymore. It's not a firewall issue, since I have tried to connect with my firewall disabled as well.
I rebuilt my machine a few weeks back - re-installed the developer version...The app in question can see all it's tables in the SQL back end via ODBC andeverything looks normal via Enterprise Manager, but I can no longer createan ADO Connection.Source code is unchanged, what's changed is the PC rebuild and consequentre-installatin of SQL Server developer version.I suspect it's something to do with the provider (at least that's the only thingI can see in the .Connect string that's not verifiably correct....)The error looks like this after I trap and format it:-----------------------------------------------------------------12/30/03 21:34:30v0.71 Userid: UPQC on SAGProc: basADO: ADO_ConnectionCreate-2147467259: [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server doesnot exist or access denied.Errors encountered when trying to connect:''''''''''[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist oraccess denied.----------Connect String:Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;SERVER=SAG;DATABASE=TRETS;UID= Trets;PWD=trets-----------------------------------------------------------------Can anybody see anything obvious to look for?I'm thinking I need to know how to verify/validate the presence of provider"SQLOLEDB.1"... But how?--PeteCresswell
I'll ask for patience cause am new to this....but I am trying to create a new connection while trying to add a new Data Source in Visual Studios, and I keep getting the error "Login failed for user 'Mohaminho-PCMohaminho'." I have tried several things that my little knowledge knows, but no success. Any ideas anyone?
Hi,Just recently I am getting the following error when trying to connect to an SQL DB: Exception has been thrown by target of an invocation. This happens even if I create a new website/solution. Procedure I use:open server explorer and click on create a new connectionchoose SQL server from the listenter my IP address and credentials, click on test and everything is fine. When I go to select the DB the dropdown box is empty, if I type in my database name and click on ok I get the following message:Exception has been thrown by target of an invocationI know it is nothing to do with SQL or credentials as I can create a datasource to my SQL server using my colleagues computer!I have removed VS 2005 from my computer and reinstalled only to be met with the same problem.reinstalling my computer is a last resort!Any ideas?Cheers, Ps, I can connect to my DB using VB code behind.
do we have to create connection and assign it to command object before creating SqlCacheDepency? chek the code below. SqlServer is not invalidating cache when there is update. When i create Dependency using command object, at that time command object does not have connection. It will assign connection to command object in Excute method SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(commandText);cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;SqlCacheDependency cacheItem = new SqlCacheDependency(cmd);DataSet result;result = DBHelper.Execute(cmd);HttpRuntime.Cache.Insert(cacheItemName, result, cacheItem);
I am trying to view report that i deployed to reporting service but when i try to view it, it gives error:
An error has occurred during report processing. Cannot create a connection to data source 'INVC'. For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors
I want to create an ODBC connection using windows authentication but it always failed. The error display that the database server not found. Is the any configuration I should set before create the ODBC ? Thanks in advance.
I am testing RS2008 CTP6. When I view a Adventureworks sample report (e.g. company sales) I get this errormessage when I use the option "Impersonate the authenticated user after a connection has been made to the data source" :
Cannot create a connection to data source 'AdventureWorks'.
Must declare the scalar variable "@ImpersonatedUser".
All other connection options without impersonate works fine. Any idea what can cause this problem?
Why is it that sometimes I get this error and sometimes not after I deploy the same shared data souce to my Report Server?
Even if I try deleting the datasouce through Report Manager the redeploy it from VS 2005, it still errors out when I run my report. I am able to run my report fine in VS.
An error has occurred during report processing.
Cannot create a connection to data source 'mydatasourcenamehere'.
For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote error
Hi, i already create a connection to sybase(ASA) with odbc from ssis (from "data sources" section). but when i try to make data flow source it cann't. so i try to make a connection using "data source views" but when the process comes to end, it becomes error. from my analysis, the Sybase db cannot accept sql command with "[]", because in the fase "data source views" i have to select one or more table, and the default microsoft is using "[]", like: select * from [dbo].[customer], but sybase db cannot handle this. does anyone have the solution for this? Thanks.
I want to create a report from Access Database. Can anybody tell me how to connect and create a data source from Access data source. A step by step guide is preferable. I am more concerned on the connection string.
