Cannot Open SSRS Report Manager URL On Windows Edge Browser
Sep 21, 2015
I was using Windows 7 and had SSRS 2014 installed.Having set up the inbound rule on Windows Firewall (port 80), to allow SSRS through, I was able to browse to the Report Manager URL, by opening up Internet Explorer as 'Administrator'..
However, now that I have upgraded to Windows 10, I am unable to open the URL.In fact there is now way for me to open Edge as administrator and open my Report Manager URL.

When I try to open the Powerview report in the new Windows 10 Explorer (MS Edge), I am asked to install Silverlight.
When I try to install this, it says I already have it installed so I can’t proceed in opening the Powerview report.

Just upgraded to Windows 10. My SSRS reports, SharePoint 2013 integrated, still work but have no scroll bars. I can use the touchscreen to scroll left and right. Mouse wheel or any other attempts to scroll the report view don't work.

Hi,
I've a slight problem with configuring my Report Server. I have set up everything apart from the initialisation and and the Windows Service Identity, however when I select the panel for the latter I am presented with a message box displaying the following:
" Reporting Services Configuration Manager:
There was an error while switching panels. The most likely cause is an error retreiving WMI properties. The exception details are:
InvalidArgument=Value of '1' is not valid for 'SelectedIndex'.
Parameter name: SelectedIndex "
I have tried re-installing the entire SQL server setup and this made no difference, I followed this by removing then reinstalling just the Report Service. Still nothing.
Any ideas as to what it is doing and how I should go about fixing it?

I am using SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition and have created several reports, deployed them to SQL Server and tested them.
Everything works correctly, but when I open the Report Manager using localhost/Reports, the page takes several minutes to connect and open. I am doing this on a new laptop I use for development and testing, so I can see where it would be a little slow, but a few minutes seems extreme. I don't have any problem with SQL Server itself, nor with VS 2005.
Are there any tips or setup issues which might affect the startup speed?
Many thanks

I have written a report visual studio. The report has 10 multi-value parameters that pull data from their individual data sets within the reports. When running the report from within Visual Studio it renders fine. There are no errors reported, only a warning related to a pathname I have use to retrieve image data and display on the report.Deployment of the report is error free. When I view the report I briefly get the "Loading" splash window, but then nothing. None of the headers or static text is displayed. The results window is blank.
The report defaults all the parameter values. In trying to debug the issue I have found by reducing the number of parameter values the report will render. Once I have all the values added, the report does nothing.Below is the query being used for the report. The where clause in the query shows the parameters being used and the syntax. We are running on Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2.

Hi,
I'm encounter lately some weird behaviour of SSRS in BIDS as well as after deploying on Reporting Server.
I'm running basic classical SQL SSRS Reports with Oracle DB connection. My reports have header and footer pagination and well defined report layer configuration. All the reports are simple based on one table and some basic parameters passed to query.
In query builder from BIDS from data tab, the query is running fine without any other execution delays. Also the query is runnign fine in PL/Dev environment.
When I switch in "Preview" mode the report hangs in execution and just showing "Report is being generated" without any resuts. After a while is generating an execution error (after 20 min).
The behaviour is the same after deployment on Report Server .
I now...here it comes...the problem is intermitent...some times the report is working...but most of the times it hangs on execution.
I checked the report from top to bottom and nothing's wrong from design perspective.
On other reports I don't have this problem and I don't understand where to start to investigate.
Any suggestions...I'm stuck here.
Thanks

For example: if I have folder A and sub folder 1 and 2. I need to be able to log in and be directed to sub folder 1. I was able to set up view role and access folder A. But then I need to click on folder 1 to view / create my reports.

Hi all,
I was wondering whether I should just use the URL posting in aspx as below :-
Code Snippet
Response.Redirect("http://Reportserver/virtualfolder/Deployedfoldername/Reportname¶metername=parametervalue")
or Should i just put this in the asp page ?
Code Snippet
<asp:HyperLink ID="HL1" runat="server" Target="_blank" NavigateUrl=http://Reportserver/virtualfolder/Deployedfoldername/Reportname¶metername=parametervalue">Click on Report</asp:HyperLink></div>
I can't really test this out at the moment till i get a go ahead from the IT Department that SSRS is up and running and i can deploy the reports.
I was wondering what would the effects be for each code in their respective pages ?
Would the aspx be able to pop up the report page in a new window automatically ? OR the second piece of code is a better way of doing it ?
Sincerely,
Bernard

But the URL which I want to open is as follows.

I am facing an Issue with my SSRS-Reports. I have a stacked column chart in my report and the columns are linked to another report, a sub-report with 6 parameters. Right now after clicking the columns, the sub-report get opened in the same IE-Tab, with relevant parameters and it works out correctly. Challenge is, to open the new report in a new tab / window.
My Current situation: A Chart report, with Action “go to report” on series properties with 6 parametersChallenge: open linked sub-report in a new tab.Info 1: new path of sub-report looks like this:
http://<my_report_server>?ItemPath=<subreportName>&ExecId=qwercc45xgfvll45e4ebgjna&PingId=314x1cy4etmnky45abszeb99
Already tried with no success: I know, action “go to URL” using Expression:
="javascript:void(window.open('http://……','_blank'))"
Info 2: the parameters are like these: CompanyName; Date_From; Date_To; Title; Division; ProfitCenter.
I don’t know If I should try to create this ExecId and PingId; If there is any way to pass the through the parameters or there is another way.

Hello all,
When I print the reports ( or export to PDF) in Report Manager, my every alternate page is blank? If the report is just one page report, I get second page as blank when I print or export. The report prints in Landscape format( which should be fine given 8.5 inch height and 11 inch width).
I have played with the interactive Height and other height parameters but with no luck.
My current settings in the rdl file is:
<BottomMargin>0.5in</BottomMargin>
<RightMargin>0.5in</RightMargin>
<PageWidth>11in</PageWidth>
...
<Width>11in</Width>
<InteractiveHeight>1.5in</InteractiveHeight>
<Language>en-US</Language>
<TopMargin>0.5in</TopMargin>
<PageHeight>8.5in</PageHeight>
I would highly appreciate any suggestions.

I want to be able to open URLs in a new window in my SSRS report, and the URLs keep changing in every record. The problem is these links are not the only things present in the record, and there is other data present. I keep seeing examples where they are considering only a link to be present in the record with no other data.
Also the data in the record includes HTML tags and I checked the option that says "HTML - Interpret HTML tags as styles" on the placeholder properties window.
Example of data in the record:
Hello! Welcome to google, the most used search engine.
Click on www.google.com to go the website
So when I click on the www.google.com URL, it should open in a new window.

Hi.
I wonder if it is possible to set forms authentication for report manager but leave report server "as it is". I need to authenticate users from external LDAP and can't use windows authentication for report manager, but I would also like to leave report server open for anonymous users. In that way authenticated administrators could create reports which anonymous users could read.
I tested the Security Extension Sample and got it working when I rewrote the authentication part with my own LDAP authentication.
If I have understood correctly, the report manager is just application inside report server so is it possible to use forms authentication with one application but still leave the report server with Windows authentication?

My SSRS report never finishes running for some reason.
If I run the same SP with the same parameters from SSMS it runs in 0.5 sec (returns 8-10 rows).
When running from report manager, I see extremely high CPU Time and Disk IO values, no blocking, no waiting at all.

I'm working on a report to show financial transactions from a table over a certain period. For most transactions there is a PDF document that is stored in a separate table in a binairy format. In my report I would like to include a link on every line with transaction information in the report that opens the PDF that is linked to that transaction. Just to be clear, I don't want to embed the PDF in the report but I want the users of the report to have the option to view the PDF that is related to that transaction in their standard pdf reader (adobe).
Code to do the following:
Once a user clicks on the link to view the PDF I need the code to get the binairy data of the PDF file from the table, convert it back to a PDF and open it in the default pdf reader (for example adobe reader). If it can't directly open the file then it's maybe possible to activate the 'open or download' pop up that you also get when you download something from a website.

Hi
I have picked up the same problem that quite a few folks have identified.
I have created a SSRS Solution and have a report which I am trying to deploy to the Report Manager.
The project 'builds' locally but when I try to deploy it, a User Login Box pops up.
Has any one been able to ascertain what causes the problem and how does one go about resolving the problem.
I am using Window Authentication on WIndows XP SP2 with SQL Server 2005 Developers Edition and Visual Studio 2005 Professional
I have not 'tinkered' with IIS,.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a report in SSRS2012. It was copied from SSRS2005 quite recently, as we have upgraded. The SQL developer said that it didn't need any code changes, as he had some kind of tool to test code problems between the two versions. The report has a table, with 5 row groups, and one detail row. The table is setup as follows:
Name Sales Costs Profit
Group1
Group2
Group3
Group4
Group5
DetailsRow
When I run this report using the Report Manager website from SSRS2005, and then export to Excel 2013, I get the 6 row groups in Excel, no problem whatsoever. I can drill into each group in Excel, using the group drilldown column on the left hand side. This works the same as the Report Manager website.
If I run the exact same report from the Report Manager website in SSRS2012, the Report Manager result is the same as SSRS2005 - all the row groups are present, and the drilldown works fine. However, the export to Excel has issues with the groups. There are only 3 row groups showing in Excel, along with a column group added for no apparent reason.
Drilling into each group shows inconsistent details, and there is no apparent logic as to what is shown within each group. I should also mention, that this issue with groups is seen on all my reports which have groups, not just this report.

I have 3 SSRS 2014 (Dev, UAT and Prod). I would like to change background colors of each environment and customize the title 'SQL Server Reporting Services' to ' SSRS Development'.
I prefer to implement both, a background color change and a title change. The reason for this is to clarify to end users which environment they are working with.
Where can I make those minimal changes in SSRS 2014.

Long story short -
Have two C# applications - one WinForms desktop app, the other a WinForms smart device app. Both use SQL Server Compact CE 3.5 to store data locally. Both work just fine.
Now the desktop app needs to open and update the .SDF file that is stored on the Windows Mobile device. (Device will be docked via USB.)
What format would the path to the .SDF look like that the WinForms application would need to specify in order to open it?
Thanks for reading.
