How i can have a group by for last docnum for Customer and all columns?
I'd like to first figure out the count of how many rows are not the Current Edition have the following:
Second I'd like to be able to select the primary key of all the rows involved
Third I'd like to select all the primary keys of just the rows not in the current edition
Not really sure how to describe this without making a dataset

Group by fails me because I only want the groups where the Edition_fk don't match...

I am looking to retrieve any GroupID in which every Value of that GroupID is either (a) null, (b) an empty string, or (c) "XYZ". So in the above example, GroupID #1 would not be returned in my query because there is a Value of "ABC", but GroupID #2 would be returned since it consists of only nulls, "XYZ"'s, and empty strings.What would be the most efficient way to write such a query?

I have a report which is grouped by a field called R_ID, which gives me a list of records for each R_ID. So here is the thing, I want to get only top 3 records for each R_ID. Is there any way to do this thing in the report level. I tried it from the query level, but the result is not like what I wanted.

The title says it all. Given that I have created a login for a domain group, and a database user for that login. What I want to do is retrieving the domain username for the active user. USER_NAME retrieves the database username, suser_name returns (of course) NULL as this is not a sql user.
The goal is to use domain group logins, while still allowing for logging what user performed which action.

It's a silly thing, I know, but it's very useful for me because when I've got those columns then I can do paste them perfectly into .XLS.
Otherwise I see forced to write one by one and sometimes tables have more than 60 columns
It's not useful generate a CREATE TABLE script or launch SP_HELP <MYTABLE> because I obtain the name of the columns in vertical no horizontal.

Hello all. I need to extract the column names that form the primary key group on a table in SQL Server. I have a table called Account and it contains ten columns. The primary key consists of two columns - MasterAccountID, AccountID. This primary key is a unique constraint and is clustered (it acts as an index as well as a primary key group). I have tried the following to no avail:exec sp_pkeys Account -> returns no rowsexec sp_helpindex Account -> throws an error stating that the object 'Account' does not existIf I run the following SQL statement, I can see all of the PK_* constraints in the database, so I know they are there:select * from information_schema.table_constraintswhere constraInt_type IN ('PRIMARY KEY','FOREIGN KEY') Again, I need to be able to specify a table name and have it return the columns (don't care if it returns extra fields) that make up the primary key fields for that table. I have two tables that have no relation. However, both have a column which has a field of nvarchar(50) that I want to retrieve together in one operation and bind to a DropDownList in a sorted fashion. So, what I'm trying to achieve is this:
1. SELECT name FROM table1
2. SELECT name FROM table2
3. Join the two results together and order them alphabetically
4. Return the result set
I'm not sure how to do this or even if it's possible. Ideally I'm hoping it can be done in a stored proc.

SQL Server 2005 has a new very useful feature for creating non-clustered indexes called INCLUDE <columns> which are very helpful when trying to create covering indexes.
Does anyone know of a way to retrieve these INCLUDE columns through any of the system metadata tables? The sp_helpIndex stored procedure is what I currently use but that only returns the (sorted) index columns and not the include columns.

I am using Query Writer (should be SQL 2005) and have included the following code.
The end result: -should retrieve columns and display the count for two different data sources that were added by personnel in a specific department.
Problem: results are returned but not accurate. The code below works just fine and returns the results for all spot buy orders added by personnel in the sales department. However, I want to add a column in the same report that also counts blanket orders from the exact same table added by personnel in the sales department. The database uses views (v) in lieu of dbo.
Parameters:
@Add_Date_From SMALLDATETIME='',
@Add_Date_To SMALLDATETIME='',
@Last_name VARCHAR(50)='',
@First_Name VARCHAR(50)=''
Query:
SELECT
T1.Last_name,

If I substitute COUNT(T4.PO_Type) AS 'Spot Buy Added' with COUNT(T4.PO_Type) AS 'Blanket Added' I also get accurate results for the blanket order. IE separately they work just fine. If I try to combine the two that is where the trouble begins.
What am I doing incorrectly when I try to add the criteria/code for the additional column to count the blanket orders?

I have a MyNames table which contains over 100 columns. The Name column may have the same name in many rows. The data looks like this.

I need a result table containing all 100 columns from MyNames but only the unique names in the name column. I don’t care which name row is used.

I have tried DISTINCT and GROUP BY.
DISTINCT will unique on every column listed so I will end up with the name repetred in the Name column.
SELECT DISIINCT Name, Factor1, Factor2 => I do not want the Factor columns involved in the distinct. This will cause the same name to appear in more than one row.
Group by will requires that I place the remaininf 99 columns in a function in order to have the columns listed.
SELECT Name, MAX(Address)... => adding 99 fields.
Is there a way get only the unique Names with the 99 other columns with out having to manually put the other 99 columns in functions?

I have created a report using SSRS and in that report I am using group rows in one of the matrix. When I tried to display the subtotal of that group row by using the SSRS in-built feature the subtotal column is coming at the last of the matrix columns but the subtotal its showing is wrong . Its just giving the value of the first columns value.
Can anyone help me on this issue.

now the problem in this statement is that I don't want to group by Week of Availability, but I do want to select it. BUT, if I remove Week of availability from the Group by part, I get an error! how can I do this?
