Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.InvalidConfigFileTypeException: The type Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.Analytics.UI.ReportViewerMessages, Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c does not implement IReportViewerMessages or could not be found

Source Error:

The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL:

1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example:

<%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %>

or:

2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application:

<configuration>
<system.web>
<compilation debug="true"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode.

Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario.

Deploying Reports To MOSS 2007

Dec 22, 2006

Hello,

I wonder if anyone can help me save the few remaining hairs on my head? I am trying to deploy reports created in SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio to SharePoint running SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services in SharePoint integrated mode. Whenever I try to deploy a report, the Reporting Services Login window pops up no matter which user/password I provide it won't accept any. I have the Reporting Services database set up to use Windows credentials and my Domain adminstrator account so I presume that this is user that I should be providing when prompted when deploying.

Can anyone give me any clues?

Thanks,

Michael

Urgent SSRS Web Part + MOSS 2007 Question

Oct 2, 2007

I have a masterpage that has no doctype, because I want to have a table with some fixed height TDs and some variable height TDs (this kind of table only seems to be possible in quirks mode, with no doctype). My problem is the SSRS web part, it has the web part title, but the actual report is not there! as soon as i put in the doctype, it renders normally.

Is there any way to have a reporting services web part render a report without a doctype?

Cannot View Report With MOSS And SSRS Integrated Mode

May 7, 2008

Hello,

I have configured Reporting services to use MOSS integrated mode. I have two servers, one for MOSS and the other for SQL database and reporting server.

Since I am using NTLM for IIS authentication, I can only use "Trusted Account" for Reporting Service Integration.

Then I created a report in SQL Server BI development studio and deployed to a MOSS document library. The deployment was successful. However, when I tried to open the report, I got the following error message:

An error has occurred during report processing.
This data source is configured to use Windows integrated security. Windows integrated security is either disabled for this report server or your report server is using Trusted Account mode.

I have tried to switch to "Windows Authentication" for Reporting Service Integration, but this will give error for "Set Server Defaults" screen. Also the deployment from BI studio to MOSS will fail with authentication error. So I think I have to stay with "Trusted Account" option there.

What should I do to make the report accessible while using "Trusted Account"? Is there any configuration which has to be done for this purpose? Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jun

Mirroring With MOSS 2007

Oct 31, 2007

Is anyone attempting or has anyone successfully deployed MOSS2007 with a SQL 2005 Database Mirror on the backend? We are doing it in our lab with the automatic failover (principal, mirror & witness) and the SQL portion works great. The only issue is we have is that we have to manually switch MOSS over (via Sharepoint 3.0 Central Admin or stsadm) to the new content database on the other server. Thank you

We have reviewed the White Paper that Microsoft offered with no help to our issue.

Problem Integrating Reporting Services In MOSS 2007

Aug 30, 2007

Hi all!

I am experiencing a problem integrating Reporting Services in MOSS 2007.

I tell you:

When i am in Reporting Services -> Aplications Administration, i click to set the default server settings and this error appears (it's in spanish, i try to translate below)

Unexpected error while conecting to the report server. Check that the server is online and configured for the integrated Sharepoint mode. --> Server can precess the request ---> The client found the content response type 'text/html; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'.

I have watched into the report server, and it appears as integrated in Sharepoint.

If someone knows how to fix this, it would be very helpful.

Thanks all.

Hi,

I have just installed RS and SP2 on a server running a MOSS 2007 (with SSL using an internal certificate) and configured RS to work on Sharepoint Integrated Mode. Then I went to Sharepoint to configure RS options, but when I tried to set up the Set Servers Defaults I receive the following error:

Cannot View Reports After Upgrading To SSRS 2005

Aug 29, 2007

Hello,

We recently did an "in place" upgrade of SQL Server and SSRS 2000 to 2005.

After the upgrade we cannot view the exisiting reports. (although we can publish new reports using the VS2005 Designer and they show up just fine.)

We have SP2 installed for SSRS2005 and all SPs for SQL are up to date.

When we navigate to an existing report via the reporting services website, the report acts like it is trying to run and then returns and error message:

An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) Get Online Help

When we look at the logs we see that the report server cannot initialize the stream from the Catalog table.

MOSS And SSRS Integration Problem

Sep 27, 2007

Hi all,

We're currently having a great deal of difficulty getting our MOSS/SSRS integration configured. In short, we're getting "A connection to the computer cannot be established." message in the Grant Database Access page of the Reporting Services Integration settings.

A few more points:

We have two servers:

Server A: Win2K3 EE SP2, MOSS 2007, SSRS Integration Components

Server B: Win2K3 EE SP2, SQL Server 2005 SP2, MOSS database, SSRS, WSS 3.0, SSRS Integration Components
A user in IE on Server A can successfully browse to the ReportServer virtual directory on Server B.

Another "test" MOSS server has been configured separately and successfully against Server B, so it seems like there's something amiss with Server A. The report server configuation tool shows all green. There are no entries in the App or System log that appear related to this issue. We've looked at KB's 871179 and 896861; no luck there.

We've tried both Windows Authentication and Trusted Connection with a number of different accounts, including a domain admin. No luck.

The error is really irritating, considering it gives no additional information, logging, or context.

Can anyone shed some additional light here?

Thanks,

Dave

HTTP:401 Error When Trying To Use Kerberos With SSRS/MOSS

May 21, 2008

Like many others, I am have trouble getting this to work, and none of the solutions I have found on the inter-tubes seems to work for me:

"An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode. --> The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized."

The Setup:

MOSS/SSRS (Integration Mode) running on a server farm on a single server: myserver.mydomain.org

Service Account for all Services: mydomainmyaccount (trusted for delegation, member of IIS_WPG)
myserver trusted for delegation
SSAS running under Local System on ssas.mydomain.org.

SETSPN -L mydomainmyaccount results:

HTTP/myserver.mydomain.org

HTTP/myserver

MOSS Authentication Settings

Authentication Type = Windows
Default Authentication Provider = Negotiate (Kerberos)
Anonymous access not enabled

IIS Settings

SSRS on Default Web Site: Port 8080

Application Pool Identity mydomainmyaccount

NTAuthenticationProviders="Negotiate,NTLM"

Security: Windows Authentication

MOSS on Sharepoint-80 Site: Port 80

Application Pool Identity mydomainmyaccount
NTAuthenticationProviders="Negotiate,NTLM"
Security: Basic Authentication except _vti_bin/ReportServer is Windows Authentication
The idea is to use kerberos to pass credentials from SSRS reports running on myserver.mydomain.org to SSAS on ssas.mydomain.org.

SSRS Integrated With MOSS Causes Globals!ReportName To Behave Differently

Jun 26, 2007

I have a report where I use Globals!ReportName in the header of the report for the report title. In Development and on SSRS stand alone the value for Globals!ReportName is in mixed case and the file extension is omitted. When the report is published to a MOSS server integrated with SSRS the value for Globals!ReportName is all in lower case and the file extension is included.

Is there any reason for this change in behavior and is there a way I can put back the mixed case and omit the file extension?

Reports Over The Internet, Accounts, And DMZ

Mar 18, 2008

We would like to publish reports on the Internet. My understanding is there are three parts.
1. SQL Server Database
2. Reports Services
3. Reports Manager
The SQL Server with the databases is on our LAN and is a member of our Active Directory Domain.
Report Services and Report Manager are on a server in our DMZ that is not a member of the Domain.
Will this work?
How do I authenticate the RS/RM to SQL?
Should Report Services be on a server in the domain with the SQL server and report manager be on another server in the DMZ and not a member of the domain?
I have seen a lot of information about SQL RS and RM but nothing about what servers need to be a member of a Domain.

Thanks,
Ron.

I have already got the IIS logs and it did not give the required info.
I have looked into the Reporting Services logs but it does not provide the info either.

Excel 2007 Issue (KB 929766) For Cube Reports; Doesn't Make Any Sense

Mar 12, 2007

In short, we have started deploying Office 2007 to our users and Excel is currently the only client we use to interact with our AS2005 cubes.

A few users have reported issues (which I've verified), but the explanation in the KB article doesn't make any sense to me. These reports were originally developed in Excel 2003 and when opening them up in Excel 2007, we'll see a message saying that Excel found unreadable content in the .xls file and after clicking 'Yes' to recover contents of the workbook, we then receive a message that a PivotTable report was discarded due to integrity problems. If I opened up this report in Excel 2003, I don't receive these errors or messages.

Per the KB's explanation (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/929766):

This issue occurs if the following conditions are true: €¢The workbook contains a PivotTable that uses key performance indicators (KPIs).€¢The KPIs are created in the Analysis Services Business Intelligence Development Studio.€¢One or more of the KPIs have an expression in the Current Time Member property.
Now, we are running 2005 Standard Edition with no SP, but will be deploying SP2 in a few days. Our cubes do not have any KPIs defined. Can I even define KPIs if we are only running Standard Edition?

Any thoughts?

SSRS To Set Display Properties At Internet Exporer Level

Hi All,

I have report which correctly outputs the PDF Export as well as when it displays it in the Reporting Services it is correct.

When it is deployed at the report server(IE) the view seems to differ a bit. As the report is a combination of Table adjacent to a matrix the IE view makes the Matrix move in the next line. Any thoughts on how can i control the display properties at the IE level only as the other views seems to be working fine.

Converting Crystal Reports To SSRS Reports

Mar 27, 2008

My issue is with converting multi-value parameters:

In Crystal Reports, you can set a parameter to accept multiple vales (Discrete, Range or Discrete and Range).

As an example:

I have a database table with a column called ID.
I can create a parameter called param_id and set the options of the parameter to "Allow multiple range values".

With this setup, I can limit the result set of the report by comparing the param_id parameter to the ID column in the database. Because param_id is a multi-value range parameter, I can pass it the following data:
1 - 50
60 - 80
150 - 127

This will only return results within those ranges.

Does anyone know if SSRS provides this kind of functionality?

Thanks,

Patrick Conway

Can I Write SSRS 2008 Reports To Run On SQL 2005 SSRS?

Sep 12, 2007

Is it possible to write SSRS 2008 reports to run on an existing SSRS 2005 server?

If yes, what do I need to do to be able to write SSRS 2008 reports on my developer PC that will run on the SQL 2005 Server (which also has SSRS 2005 installed on it)?

I installed Visual Studio 2008 beta on the development PC and it appears that it needs SSRS installed on it too. So I installed SQL 2008 SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) and SQL 2008 Workstation Components onto the developer PC. Next I run the SQL 2008 "Reporting Services Configuration" tool. When I click on the "Web Service URL" section it hangs indefinitely and I have to force it closed.

The developer PC is Windows Vista Business.

Any suggestions on making this work, or any other information that you can think of that would allow me to use Visual Studio 2008 and the SQL 2008 "Report Designer Preview" tool to develop SSRS reports that will run on the SQL 2005 SSRS server?

Thanks!

SSRS And ASP.Net And Windows Integrated Authentication Failure In Internet Explorer

Jun 1, 2006

I have a very confusing problem that I'm going to attempt to relay concisely:

I have a LAN on which I'm running an Intranet web site built in ASP.Net 2.0 and using SSRS / Sql Server 2005 on the same server.

The name of the box is "warehouse" or "warehouse.mydomain.us." When I ping "warehouse," I get a response from 137.86.166.8, as I should. Likewise, I get a response from 137.86.166.8 when I ping "warehouse.mydomain.us." If I do a "ping -a" on 137.86.166.8, it correctly resolves to "warehouse.mydomain.us." Based on the facts presented in this paragraph, I believe that my DNS is working as expected.

Using IE (6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519) with "low" security settings, I navigate to http://warehouse.mydomain.us/lex/ (Lex is the name of the app) and it authenticates me to the index page (which calls the SSRS web service to get and display a list of available reports), except that I get the login prompt three times. If I hit F5 (refresh), I get three more login prompts and then I get a 401.1 error. From this point, no matter what I do, I can not see the index page again without closing and restarting IE.

I know that IE only passes credentials to certain sites, so I add my domain (http://warehouse.mydomain.us/) to the Local Intranet list ( Tools->Internet Options->Security->Local Intranet->Advanced) and then I can refresh and see my index page once, but I still get 3 login attempts and then the same thing happens -- I refresh and go through 3 logins and then get a 401.1.

If I now change my address bar to read http://137.86.166.8/lex, I get a single login and it works like a champ. This makes me think that there's a DNS problem, so I open up Mozilla Firefox and wouldn't you know it -- Firefox works like a champ all around -- one single sign-in, it keep credentials between Lex and SSRS, and it appears to use the DNS correctly. However, I can't use Firefox because I can't get any of the SSRS reports to look like they're supposed to in Mozilla-based browsers.

Argh.

I have set my IE securtiy settings to "Low." I have added the primary domain to the Local Intranet list and also to the Trusted Sites list (but you can't do both at the same time). I have even added the internal IP to my "hosts" file.

Does anyone know anything that might be a help to me in getting this figured out?

Other notes of interest:

My machine is an XP machine, but is not on the domain, but I do have a valid domain login that I use and it works in Firefox without problem.

SSRS And Office Sharepoint Server 2007 Configuration Problem

Sep 27, 2007

Hi!

I'm configuring now Reporting Services on SQL Server 2005 in Office Sharepoint Server 2007 integration mode. In the beginning of the process, I had already installed SQL Server 2005 with RS and Office SPS 2007. I used following guides to make further steps:
How to Configure Reporting Services to Use a Non-Default Web Site (Reporting Services Configuration)

How to Configure Service Accounts (Reporting Services Configuration)

How to Configure SharePoint Integration on a Standalone Server
How to Configure the Report Server Integration Feature in SharePoint Central Administration

Troubleshooting a Side-by-Side Installation of Reporting Services and Windows SharePoint Services

So I installed RS add-in for SPS, made RS configuration and almost all SPS configuration. I stopped with error

"An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode. --> Server was unable to process request. ---> The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found. " in "Set server defaults" command.

My servers configuration is following:
1. Both RS and SPS are running on the same server.
2. I cannot change port of default web site, so I made different web site "Reporting services" under same web server with port 8086 (http://mtx-sps2007:8086/reportserver)

3. RS Windows service runs under domain system account that is a member of local Administrators group (account name sql2k5sps7)
4. RS Web service runs under NT AuthorityNetworkService account
5. Database connection configured using mentioned above account sql2k5sps7

6. Report Server Web Service URL in SPS is set to http://mtx-sps2007:8086/reportserver
7. Authentication Mode in SPS is set to "Trusted account"
8. My account, under which I make a connections through terminal services to SPS and RS servers and through http to reportingservices page is a member of local administrators group of both my PC and server.
9. I'm not familiar with SPS (honestly speaking, with RS too, but at least I learning this quickly, but SPS is out of my responsibilities scope)
10. ReportServer runs under separated app pool that runs under NT AuthorityNetworkService account

And now I'm fighting with this error on "Set server defaults" command. It's interesting that from my PC there is no credentials prompt when entering SPS administrations page and error is following:
An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode
But from terminal client, connected to SPS and RS server, there is a credentials prompt (I enter my credentials) and error is as mentioned abowe:
An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode. --> Server was unable to process request. ---> The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

Passing Report Parameters To An SSRS 2005 Report Hosted In Sharepoint 2007

Nov 18, 2007

Here is a situation in my company:

We have an Office SharePoint 2007 site, we developed a couple of web parts and added them to our site. We used SQL Server Reporting services 2005 as our reporting solution. The reports are hosted on the report center and when we need a report, we open it by sending a URL requesting the report, passing the report parameters in the URL query string. So the report is filtered based on the parameters passed from the web parts.

But since best practices say that you should host reports directly under SharePoint, by configuring the reporting services to run in the SharePoint integrated mode. We followed the steps and installed SharePointRS and we finally succeeded to publish the reports to a SharePoint folder, but we had a limitation: we are unable to pass the report parameters internally to the report hosted in SharePoint. If we passed them in the query string as the report center case, SharePoint neglects them totally.
So the question is: how can I pass parameters internally between a SharePoint web part and a SQL server 2005 reporting services report hosted in SharePoint?

I Can't View My Reports!

Feb 2, 2007

I can browse my subfolders containing reports in Home, but Internet Explorer displays error message when I press a report.

I can use Properties, History and the other tabs, but when I press "View" tab I can only see error message.

I have to use external IP address (217.x.x.x/Reports) so I tried to set this IP in ReportManagerRSWebAppConfig file:

<UI>
<ReportServerUrl>http://217.x.x.x/ReportServer</ReportServerUrl>
</UI>

But when I try to use local IP address (10.x.x.x/Reports) in my local net, I can't connect to the report server.

When I change this to <ReportServerUrl>http://10.x.x.x/ReportServer</ReportServerUrl>

I can't view my reports from external host using external IP (217.x.x.x/Reports) because local IP is used when I press "View" tab.

I don't know if there are other files that should be changed? Can somebody tell me how to solve this problem?

Best regards,

Chris
