Is it possible to use a ReportViewer control (or something in .net) to change connection strings of a report's datasources? The connection string comes from a shared data source, so using an expression for the connection string in the actual report is out.
Essentially, I'm looking to tack on Analysis Services cube role(s) to the connection string to change data permissions. If there's another way to do this with a RS report, I'm all ears.
I have created an ASP.NET website with a ReportViewer on. The report renders fine, but when I change one of the parameters (manually), the report seems to invalidate itself and a blank while area is drawn. I would like the same behaviour as in the WinForms variant, where rhe rendered report remains the same until the 'View Report' button is pressed.
I am using SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services and Reporting Services with Visual studio 2005 Professional Edition. I have developed couple of reports in visual studio 2005 environment using report server project of business intelligence projects. In one of my report I am using MDX query which is created using Query Builder of Report wizard. Once I finished with report wizard a report created and shown with data, layout and preview tabs. I can preview the report. But, when I click on data tab there is no MDX query exists. After that I can't even preview the report.
I have a report viewer control within a web user control which i am using to display the report. The report has been designed within a Visual Studio Report Server project and it looks fine when previewed here but when i deploy the report to the reporting server the table rows within my report become stretched and there are other formatting issues, the formatting issues occur when the report is viewed from both reporting services server and my webpage. When the report is exported to a pdf from my website it looks fine why is the report not rendering correctly.
We have an ASP.NET application using a ReportViewer to show reports. I have two reports (both with logo - image - in yours headers):
- Report A: with action to jump to Report B.
- Report B: with action to jump to Report A.
This work fine into BID and into Report Manager, but into our application, when I click in first link into Report A, show me the Report B, but our logo isn't visible. If I try to return to Report B (clicking in action), show me this error:

Hello everyone, I have a report that has a "Jump to report:" link in it and in the report it jumps to there is another "Jump to report:" link. When I click on this link I get the following error.

I have tried moving the link from the header to the body of the report with the same results.
This is only happening in the web reportviewer control as our windows app works flawlessly.

I created a report with a parameter. The parameter was created using a dataset in the report designer. This works fine. I deployed the report (webhost4life) and the report runs fine in the report manager. I am able to select my casenumber click on the default view report button and it works.
Problem: I embedd the report into an aspx page frmReports1.aspx. I call this page from another page (form). the frmReports.aspx page comes up and displays the default drop down list box with the casenumbers (fine). I select the casenumber and click on the view report button and NOTHING. I here the postbacks taking place but all that happens is the default value appears in the drop down list box and the toolbar shows. I checked permissions and everything is fine. I searched the forum and thought i found the solution with the inLine HTML and Async (still nothing) I can only think that something is not going right with the parameter. Here is my html, and code behind code. any help would be greatly apprcieated.

I had a problem accessing our report manager via the web front... We deleted the virtual directories in IIS and then recreated them... this required us to make a change in the rsWebApplication.config file to include the URL in the ReportServerUrl tag before we could access the site again. Now we have access to the site but when we attempt to view a report that we deployed to it - the report fails to render and returns a rsReportNotReady error, even though the report doesnt use a snapshot.
Furthermore, the strange thing is that the filters for the report don't display in their own collapsable bar as they used to before... they just display on the white part of the page. Neither does the reportviewer toolbar display properly. It appears as labels and textboxes going down the page and not in a toolbar as you might expect...
any help is appreciated... we suspect that it is some kind of configuration issue, but we have no clue where to begin...
I have designed plenty of reports in VS 2005 and have been deployed on the reporting server. I have been designed one web page which shows UI through which user can access which ever reports he/she wants. I have kept some buttons on UI. When button is clicked appropriate report accessed and displayed on the browser.
Problem is that, report width is about 40 - 50 % of the screen and report viewer shows the report on the left align of the screen. I just want to show the report at the center of the screen. Also, any property I can use to set the report size in the proportion of screen in Percentage(%).
I have a report that displays fine in VS 2005 (in the Preview tab), and if I hit it via a URL in IE as a deployed report. However, when I embed it in a ReportViewer control for display on a web site, I get no data back for the report. I am using an Oracle database for the data source. None of the the logs in reporting services show anything wrong, there are no events in the event viewer to indicate any problems, Oracle logs also show no problems and no errors are returned to the page when the "View Report" button is clicked.
I created some controls for filtering the report that will be displayed on the same page, but below these controls. The controls take about 200px of the top of the form, while the report will be displayed in the rest of the page.
I'm using the ReportViewer control in Async mode, so it's being rendered as an Iframe, and this is necessary because some reports will take up to a couple minutes, so I want the loading animation.
As many of you know, this type of scenario will cause two scrollbars to be shown on this Web form: one for the main form, and the other for the Iframe containing the report. To prevent this, I have html,body set to overflow:hidden. This works great at preventing the outer scrollbar from showing, and only the report has a scrollbar.
The problem is that the bottom 200px (see first paragraph above) of the report doesnt show and cant be scrolled to. Has anyone come across a solution for this situation?
I'm basically stuck either having a report with two side by side scrollbars, or a report with 1 scrollbar that cuts off the last portion of each page of a report.
Our customer wants to display the exporting date only in the exported file when exports a report to PDF/Excel (we are using ReportViewer Control in ASP.NET). Can anybody tell me how to achieve this?
I am working on reports in SSRS 2008 (not R2)... There are some reports with parameters that are hidden when the report is accessed through normal URL using ReportViewer.asx..The thing is that these hidden parameters need to be visible when the report is accessed using SSRS Report Manager.
I have a report that includes two required parameters where the values are defined to be 'from query' and where the set of values displayed/allowed for the second parameter/drop-down are dependent on the selection from the first parameter/drop-down.
While this works fine in Visual Studio and via the ReportManager web interface, when I attempt to use the Windows Forms ReportViewer control and supply the parameter values via the ReportViewer.ServerReport.SetParameters() call the report does not accept the input values and indicates that no value has been supplied for the first parameter even though it was. Note that I am calling SetParameters() in code and not using the viewer control's parameter prompts (because they are ugly and allow for no validation beyond required/not-required).
I have tried a number of work-arounds but it seems that the only option is to change the implementation of the report so that the 'from query' parameters are no longer 'from query' but instead just simple input fields.
This allows the ReportViewer control and associated code to work, but since the input values I need are actually GUID values this is obviously less than ideal for running the report from Visual Studio or the web interface.
Am I missing something or is this some kind of a limitation/bug in the viewer control?
Is it possible to turn a server report created using report builder (with all the smdl and dsv stuff) into a report that is viewable using the Reportviewer ASP.Net control in _local_ mode? I need this because I'm trying to replace the datasource used in creating the report by another one for viewing the report.

When im using the standard Webpage, i can change all the properties i want.
But when i try the same in code. Changing the name property gets me a read-only exception. The description does change but i actually want the name to change.
Hi! I've created a report with Report Builder using a Model. I want to keep the same report, but I have to use another model (this model is almost the same as previous one, except that it has some extra tables). I tried to change my report's model from Report Manager (Report_Name -> Properties -> Data Sources), but it didn't work.
I develop some application using SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 to Russian customers. They usually don't know English well. That's why I really want to change phrase "Report is being generated" to Russian words. How can I do it? I tried to fing this phrase in configuration files or registry but there wasn't success.
I use Reporting Services in my solution. The data i have as source is very uncertain. Sometimes i manually have to delete a record from the report (not the database itself). I woluld like to have a checkbox or something simular to delete from report and totals, grafs would be updated. At the same time I would like the report to make a comment that a record was taken away, alternative let the user make a comment. Is this possible? DO i have to make a own application for that?

I am on the layout page, and click on the body, going to the body property dialogue, there is a size property there, I changed its width and height, but it is not changed at all? I mean once I save it, it is back to its orginal size? Why is that? Any advices for that?

Hi all. Looking for information on whether or not the control/navigation bar that appears at the top of the report view can be changed. I am specifically looking to remove it and assign its controls to other .net or html controls/objects. For example, the control bar has the arrow for viewing the next page. Instead of that, perhaps I might like to have a hyperlink etc somewhere else on the page that performs the same functionality. I have searched and searched for information on this but haven't been having much luck. It's kind of a difficult thing to search for due to ambiguous key words "control bar" "navigation" etc.
Not looking for specific info as to how to go about doing it, more like: what is possible and where can I go to find the specifics.
How do I change the report title via an expression? I have a parameter that can contain 1 of 3 values and want to change my Report Title accordingly. Can I nest the IIF statements somehow or how can I accomplish this?
Can I change the SQL statement on a linked report without modifying the original? I'm trying to limit a category by userid. I basically want to add an additional line to the where clause. Any ideas?
I have a question about passing user information into a report. Right now I have a travel report that accepts trip ID as a parameter. I have multiple users who will access this report through active directory and I think using tripID is too constricting for them. Ideally, I want them to pick their name from a list and pick the travel date(s) that they want to print out.
How can I make the report read in their username from Active Directory and pass this along to the report so that it'll automatically apply a filter the report. Then from a pull-down list, pick the travel date(s) that they're interested. Is this even possible?
