Change Chart Type Dynamically From Column To Line Graph??
May 1, 2006I am developing several charts with column type and sub type as stacked. There is a requirement from the users that they want an option to choose the type of chart.
Is it possible to change chart type dynamically from say Column type to Line type based on user option in front-end?
Any help will be appreciated.

Cannot Change Chart Thickness - Bug?

Changeing the line thickness (to say 1pt) of data points in a line chart alters that thickness in the designer but reverts to a standard thickness when the report is run (possibly 3pt).
The Procedure
Lets say I had three data points being charted as lines, I do the following:
Put the chart into the designer
Assign the datafields I want to chart
The default line width seems to be about 3pt
I right click the chart and select properties
Data tab
For each data point
Click edit
Appearance tab
Series Style button
Set Style to 'solid'
Width to 1pt
Color to whatever color is desired
Ok the (way too many) dialog boxes to get back to the chart
I note the line thicknesses have changed to 1pt
Preview (or deploy and browse) the report
The chart line thickness have reverted to the default (3pt?)
This is very irritating.
Versions
SQL Server 2005 ver 9.00.3042.00
MS Visual Studio 2005 ver 8.0.50727.42 (RTM050727-4200)
.Net ver 2.0.50727
Anyone have any idea of how to get the line thicknesses to stick?
How To Change The Color Of A Bar In A Bar Chart?
Jan 6, 2007I am having a problem setting the colors of the bars in a bar chart. It seems like it would be the simplest thing, but apparently it's not.
The "series" is grouped on whether or not the value is positive -- if so, the bars are blue (by default) and if not, green (by default). I want to change it so the positive color is blue and the negative color is red.
I found that I can change ALL the bars to one color by going to chart properties, Data tab, Values Edit, Appearance tab, Series Style, Fill. There I set the color to red and ALL the bars became red. But this is not what I want.
I tried using a conditional statement like IIf(Fields!IsPositive.Value=True,Blue,Red) for the color, but (not surprisingly), it told me I hadn't defined Blue and Red.
Does anyone know exactly how to do this?

The oringin problem is, there is no Gantt chart in ReportingServices. Now I try to solve that with a subreport.
I want to send 2 coordinates (Location.Left and Size.Width), but it doesn't work.
Is it possible to solve that problem using this or another alternative? If yes, how?

Dynamically Size Cells
Oct 24, 2007In a matrix, is it possible to have the cell dynamically size itself horizontally (like a horizontal scroll bar)? The numbers are wrapping to the next line if they're too large to fit in the cell and it is too complicated for me to balance at compile time how large these numbers will be with the number of columns that are on the report.

How To Dynamically Change Width?

Folks,
We have some reports that have optional columns. We have them working very nicely, with the column showing or hiding based on values in the report -- works great.
Except -- when the columns are present, the report spans onto two pages, when exported to PDF, in width. That's understandable, as there's a lot of extra data, and exactly what we want. However, when the columns are not present, we get empty pages instead, because the report doesn't automatically contract back onto the size that fits on one page.
Changing the report to a Matrix won't work, as the hidden columns on some of these come as sets of three, where each column in the three has different formatting (different widths, format codes, etc).

Dynamically Change The Servername

I've created 1 solution and added all my packages in different projects (like DIMENSIONS, SOURCES_SAP, ...).
For each project I have a Data Source that connects to the server. The problem is that when I want to deploy a package to the server that I always need to change the Data Source before deployment.
Before SQL Server 2005 we used a connection file (which was located as well on the server as on the development pc's in the same locations) within our DTS packages. This way we didn't had to change the connections when deploying to the server.
My intention was to use the current configuration from the configuration manager(development / production) to select the servername. Unfortunately, I didn't succeed to retrieve it's value from a variable script.
I need to have a solution that dynamically changes the datasources for multiple packages depending on a specific action.
How can I achieve this the easiest way ?

I know I can do it dynamic sql but it would be nice to have a method where I can create the querries directly in a normal statement
Someting like:

I know this doesn't work so an example that do work would be nice.

I have a series of tables need to import to server. When creating the target tables, I want to change the columns name as well, for example:
Source table column Target table column
Name FN_Name
Age FN_Age
The problem is I suppose I don't know the columns name in source table, I want to the tasks scan the source table and make the change programmlly.
Which tasks or approaches can be used to implement this?

I have several questions regarding this one.
1. Is it ok to change the ConnectionString property of the manager
to redirect the row to a different file? If not, what more to do?
2. If the new destination file does not yet exist, will it be created for me or will
I get an error? If I do, what to do not to?
3. The most important: What steps to take so that a row is discarded
from the pipeline in the script? I want some rows not to be directed
to the file destination. These are the lines that contain the name
of the file into which the data below belongs.
If you can optimize some steps in the script, then please do so by all means.

I have a gridview that I use on a products page, my problems is certain products have different attributes that I would like to display.
Therefore what I would like to do is change the SelectCommand property to my SQLDatasource depending on the querystring that is passed.
For instance in my page load event I would have a CASE statement with numerous SQLString Variables.
Here is the current coding for my datasource

If @start_date= '1/1/2014' then it should be history_jan14
If @start_date ='02/01/2014' then it should be history_feb14 and so on.

Is it possible to change the BulkInsertTableName when running a package via dtexec /SET?
My test scenario contains:
- SQLServer 2005 SP2, servername: SDPM01, instancename: GWLINST1, databasename 1: TEST, databasename 2: DEV, tablename 1: Test_Table1 (both in TEST and DEV database), tablename 2: Test_Table2 (both in TEST and DEV database)

Aug 25, 2005I have a problem using the table object. I have columns that I sometimes want to show, and I want the page to run off the edge and be two pages. However, usually I'm hiding many of the columns and the table "shrinks" enough to fit on one page. When this happens, the table looks right on the first page, but I get blank pages after it, because the report itself will not shrink.

I am in a process of creating a report wich has 3 groups and the data at the moment grouped by Company - Product - Customer.
I want to be able to change grouping order and respectively the data in report , something like Product - Company - Customer or Customer - Product- Company. (just example)
Is that possible to do at all?

Is It Possible To Dynamically Define A Report Size When Called As A Subreport?

I have created a report that displays a limited number of rows and columns when called as a sub-report. If the report is called directly, all rows are returned and all columns are shown. I would like to control how large the report is (BodySize) when called as a sub-report as not all columns will be shown. This sub-report is part of a dashboard where several other sub-reports are also shown, so reducing the size is important. I hope to avoid the need to have a version of the report when called from the dashboard and also a version when called in expanded mode.

The scale on the right side is the finished good which has a min qty of 383 while the highest is 52439. how can i set this scale that start from 0 to 300 and soon. right now under scale properties I set the max to 60000, the min is set to auto while in the interval properties i set this to 10000. How this line marker adjust the scale quantity (fisnished good).
