Change The Default Service Unavailable Error Message
Feb 22, 2008
Hi All -
There are times when I need to disable Reporting Services, which I do by stopping the ReportServer application pool service in IIS, temporarily. During these times if a user attempts to access reporting services they get the default Sevice Unavailable error message. I would like to create a custom Service Unavailabile message. Does anyone know how I can do this?
I have recently installed SQL 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services and, after a couple of tries, got everthing to intall - Reporting Services and Business Development Studio. The Report Server appears to have configured correctly (green check marks) except when I go to access the Report Server (http://localhost), I get the 503 Error. I have tried restarting IIS (7.0) and ASP.Net 2.0, to no avail. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate. Everything is on one machine. Thanks in advance for any help.
hi all, i have SQL 2205 with SP1 installed on my machine. and i m not bale to connect to Report Server using SQL management studio as well as from web.
i have installed reporting server and database on same machine. i tried using
but i am not bale to connect i am getting "Service Unavailable" page.
and when i try to connect using SQL Management Studio with "servername/instance" as well as "http://localhost/reportserver" i am getting a error saying.
=================================== Cannot connect to http://localhost/reportserver.The request failed with HTTP status 503: Service Unavailable. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient)
===================================
but if i try and connect to other reporting server on other machine using web http://servername/reportserver i m able to connect it. but dont know whats the problem on my machine.
We've recently attempted to get RS 2005 64bit up and running on MS Virtual Server and the installation seems to have worked properly (the RS Configuration all seemed fine also). However, when going to http://localhost/Reports or http://localhost/ReportsServer, it gives me the message "Service Unavailable". Everything looks good in IIS (using 2.0).
One of my customers' SQL Server 2005 databases, which was set up to receive messages from another SQL Server 2005 database on another server has been re-installed by the customer and now the message passing no longer works. After recreating the End Point and re-enabling the Service Broker on the target database, I am now getting messages in the SQL Server error log.
An error occurred in the service broker message dispatcher, Error: 15581 State: 3.
and
Error: 9644, Severity 16, State: 14.
The two errors repeat alternately ad nauseum. Running a trace on the target database server, for the Broker:Message Undeliverable, gives an endless stream of these entries:
This message could not be delivered because an internal error (code 15581, state 3) was encountered while processing it. Check the error log for more information.
Client/Server machine: Windows Xp Pro (SP2) (latest patches) Office Software: Access 2003 (latest patches) Database S/W: SQL Server 2005 (latest patches)
The following error message is displayed when trying to modify a stored procedure.
This version of Microsoft Access doesn't support design changes to the version of Microsoft SQL Server your project is connected to. See the Microsoft Office Update Web site for the latest information and downloads (on the Help menu, click Office on the Web). Your design changes will not be saved.
However, if you save, close and re-open the stored procedure having made the required changes, the changes have been saved.
Is there any way to suppress the error message / hotfix available from microsoft since the error message appears to be completely erroneous ?
Have I provided enough detail as this is my first post ?
We have changed the Network Domain name of a SQL server and restarted before changing any of the settings in SQL server. When we now try to start the SQL server service manager we get the following error
Your SQL server is either corrupt or has been tampered with. Unknown package id please rerun setup
Any suggestions on how to get the SQL server back on line without having to take the server down and changing the Netowrk Domain Name back ??
Help, Had configuration error trying to set up reporting services. Uninstalled SQL Server and Reinstalled, but not all files were removed. How many files and directories do I have to remove to get Reporting Services to work?

I have a message that is validated using a schema.
If I send the message that is not compliant with the schema, the message is not enqueued on the target queue but it is send back to the Initiator queue and the message_body contains the description of the Error.
On the Initiator queue I have activated a SP that is I used to end the conversation and log the error.
One of the information that I need to log is the original XML message that causes the validation error so I can check it.
It seems that in the moment I'm on this SP, activated when there is something on the Initiator queue I have no memory of the original message or at least I'm not able to find it.
I am trying to send a message between to SQL Server 2005 instances on two different machines. I have checked all my routes and all my objects appear to be setup correctly. However, when running Profiler on the target machine, I receive the "This message has been dropped because the TO service could not be found. Service name: "[tcp://mydomain.com/TARGET/MyService]". Message origin: "Transport". This is my activated stored procedure that is sending the message to the target service. I am using certificate security. Any help appreciated....

I have managed to get the Forms Authentication sample to work bu there is a hitch. I am running Report Server and Report Manager on the same(test) PC. I can logon to the Report Server without a problem but when I try logon from the UILogon.aspx page for Report Manager I receive the following error:
An error occurred while attempting to get the ReportServer Url. The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA) An error occurred while attempting to get the ReportServer Url. The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)An error occured while attempting to get the ReportServer Url. The RPC server is unavailable.(Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA).
I can register users which suggests that the page can connect to the database.
I am currently hardening our SQL 2012 (with AlwaysOn Availability Groups) environment. Both the SQL service and agent account are using service accounts (only domain user). SQL browser service is disabled. Permissions to all roles are handled by using domain groups.
Currently a lot of (default) NT Service accounts are listed (some with sysadmin privileges). Are there accounts that can be removed?
We have a SQL2005 server install running on a Win2003 Server. It has a linked server to iHistorian using the iHOLEDB provider for iHistorian. Randomly and after a few execution to this provider, we start getting errors
Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Line 2
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "IhOLEDB.iHistorian" for linked server "fspheafhs1".I created a data source in VS2005 for BI on the SQL server using the iholedb provider. This was successful. However, all queries or OPENQUERY statements to the linked server fail. This seems to continue until SQL Server is restarted. Does anyone know how to reset a provider in SQL Server or tell if the SQL Server is having trouble with the provider? There are no message in the SQL Error Log. Again the provider continues to work outside of SQL Server, but no longer can be accessed from within SQL Server. Thanks in advance.

Hi, all, does anyone know of a way to change default values inside of a table without affecting existing values?
I have a table with default = 0 in usermask column. Some rows already have non 0 values in them. I now need to change the default to 1 but still want the non 0 values be there. I also want the new default to take effect when new rows are entered. What's the best and quickest way to do it?

Hello The default location where db's are created is almost full. Is there any way to change the default location where the .mdf and .ldf are created when I create a new db? I know I can do this when I create a new db and go select where I want it to be, but can I make it default to a different directory automatically so no human intervention is needed? tia r/P

I want to change the default date format from 'mdy' to 'dmy'. I can do this for session by using SET DATEFORMAT 'dmy' but I want to this permanent on Database level (preferred) or SQL instance level how can I do this?
I am trying to change the default trace value from 2 to 6, to incorporate rollover and server shutdown. I am using this code to create a new trace (with id: 2) with the value of 6 and use that to overwrite the default trace (with id: 1):
Then I disable the default trace. I am then using this code to overwrite the default trace (with id: 1) and replace with new value default trace (with id: 2):
-- get trace status SELECT * FROM ::fn_trace_getinfo(NULL) -- stop trace EXEC sp_trace_setstatus @traceid = 1 , @status = 0 go -- delete trace EXEC sp_trace_setstatus @traceid = 1 , @status = 2
Then I enable the default trace. It works perfectly (default trace with id 1 is showing value 6) until I restart. Upon restart no default traces are enabled, once I run the script to enable the default trace then the values for the default trace (with id: 1) are back, and my value for rollover/server restart is back to 2.
