Hi there, I want to change the default sql-server port number 1433 to a new one. Can i do that? If yes, how? Also, i have noticed that there is no port number option in the sql server 2005 management studio login window. So, what if the server has changed its port number? Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks
How can i define a different TCP/IP port number , other than the default 1433; to replicate the database over a firewall on the source and the destination servers ? My source servers are SQL SERVER 7.0 with SP3 on Windows NT Server 4.0 and the destination servers are SQL 2000 with SP2 on Windows 2000 .
Where do i have to make changes in SQL server and Windows NT ? And further how secured it is to use this way for security ?
Does anyone know how to change the number of conccurent connections on SQL Server 7. We have purchased 10 additional licenses and I need to change the concurrent users from 10 to 20. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have more CAL for the SQL Server 2000 software. I was wondering, how or where do I about to change the number per seating for the software? thanks in advance.
I have a query which runs exactly as I want it to. Let's say it returns this in a table:
IDNumber 123 212 312
I want to change (find and replace?) all the number 12s in the 'Number' column for a string. I want to change the 12s to the word: HelloWorld. I don't want to update the table, merely the table that is being returned in the query.
I have a requirement to calculate the % change in the number of orders received today with the number of orders that were received 3 days back. All data is in the same table. There is a received date column.
I have two count(*) queries - one for today and one for 3 days back running separately and getting the results. Is it possible I can get the % change in orders received from 3 days back and today in one query. Also if I want to get the number of orders received today between 12:00am today and current time. How would I modify the query.
I am fairly new to reporting services and recently created a simple tabular report. There is one table which queries the database and I would like to change the table so there are more than 25 rows of data per page. How do I do this? Also it would be advantageous to know how to set the report to only create a new page for every different item in a column. E.g., if I have various data for each date, I would like to only create a new page when the date changes so that all data for a specific date is on one page etc etc.
Hello, I would like to change the active user in a stored procedure Ex. : I'm logged on sql as "userA". I call the stored procedure "spGetInfo". In the first line of "spGetInfo" I would like to do something like "su poweruser", query some data and do "su system_user"
Is there anything like the unix "su" command in SQL ?
I newly installed SQL Server 2005 .I did not mention any username and password during installation. But now i want to specify one.Can you tell me how to do so .My Operating System is WindowsXp.
I'm trying to quantify the number of times folks use SQL Server Management Studio to change client data in one of our production databases. Does SQL Server keep this statistic? How do I get to this data?
SQL Server 2005 Express will not allow me to change the password for my login user. I tried deleting the user and re-creating the user. Another password is being put in although the password I put in was accepted. I even test to see what would happen if I left the password blank. It got accepted. But when I look at the password for my login user again, a different and much longer password was put in. I even tried this T-SQL statement:
CREATE LOGIN <loginname> WITH PASSWORD='<passwordname>', CHECK_EXPIRATION = OFF, CHECK_POLICY = OFF
I have a report that I want users to navigate to and I want them to see the parameters of the report, but I don't want them to be able to change them. Is this possible?
Hello, We had a developer that created some user defined data types. He is no longer with our company and we want to change owner of those user defined data types so we will be able to delete his UUID. Is their a way to change the owner of the user defined data types from his ID to dbo. I don't see a way to change them with sp_changeobjectowner
Is there a way to change a logins based on domain users, we just changed domains so all the domainlogin logins are not working anymore. Do I have to reapply every security on every database object? There has to be a fix for this, its a common thing.
Any help is greatly appreciated, everything i googled applied to SQL Server 2000 and system tables that dont exist in 2005
My database has a user "dbo" which is dbo of all database objects. The login name for this user is e.g. "Login1". Now I need to change the login name for user "dbo" from "Login1" to a new login name "Login2".
It is not possible to change the related login name of the user "dbo" in the user's properties dialog. And it is also not possible to change or remove the dbo relation in the login name's properties dialog (because a dbo user can not be removed).
Is there any possibility to change the login name of an dbo user? How can I do it?
I have an application that controls user logins, passwords, etc. at the front end for a SQL database. I am in the stage of migrating to SQL2005 and cannot get the TSQL code to allow a user to change their own password. Here's the background;
The ADMIN of the app is a Sysadmin on the SQL server and can create logins, set roles, etc. Assume the Admin creates a user TOM with a password of xxxx. This works fine using the create login statement from a Connect.Execute statement from my app like so;
When TOM logins into my app, he will have to change his password at some point. The TSQL code I am using (which fails) is executed by TOM who has a connection to the SQL db because he is logged into the app.
"Alter Login TOM With Password = 'xxxx' Old_Password = 'xxxxx', Check_Policy = OFF"
At this point I get an error:
RunTime error -2147217900 (80040e14) ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Cannot alter the login 'TOM', becuase it does not exist or you do not have permission.
Obviously it exists since TOM is currently logged into the SQL Server. So if it's permissions related, what permissions does a user need to change his/her password? Or is there another way to do it?
I am using SQL 6.5 and I would like to know (using Isql/w) the number of users connected to my server at any given time. Thanks for your help in advance.
I have a windows forms app and I'm trying to add functionality that would allow the user to enter a number into a textbox control on a setup form and then that number would autoincrement by one each time a new record on another form is inserted into the DB .
I've searched high and low and can't seem to find much information on how I can put this together. I'm sure I'll need a "numbers" table in the DB that stores the numbers and is joined with the parent table where the records are being inserted into. After that, I'm pretty much lost on how to generate the numbers in the "Numbers" table.
If anyone could assist or point me in the right direction of a resource, I would really appreciate it!!
I restored a sql server database today. There is a problem though. In SQL server, right next to the name of the database are the words "Restricted User". Their seem to be some limitations on my access to this database now as I am not able to run some of my C# code against the database. How can I fix this in SQL server so that I am not a Restriced user.
Example of what I am talking about. In SQL server my database is named Gorlaz. Just to the left of this is a yellow Icon that represents the database "Gorlaz". For illustration purposes I will use the character "$" to substitute for the yellow database icon. So this is how it reads in SQL server management studio. $Gorlaz(Restricted User)
Does anybody know an easy way to change User Defined Data Types ownership to “dbo”, without dropping dependent objects?
I know that there is a st. proc sp_changeobject owner, but it does not deal with this particular db objects. Is there a similar st.procedure or script that would do the same operation?
I built a database by using a generated script from the originaldatabase. It built the System Store Procedures as User type. How do Ichange them back to System type?
