Is it possible in SSRS to change the appearance of a Hyperlink based on a MouseOver event? For example can I show the text as say, underlined, only when the Mouse pointer hovers over it.. and normal otherwise?
Hi, I have a formview with a label databound field in it. I want to change the labels CssClass property from code behind AFTER the record has been updated using a sqldatasource. In which event do I change the CssClass property? Or do I use Attribute.Add instead of setting the CssClass? Or is there some other property/method/way to accomplish this? Thanks, Z
I realise this'll probably seem like a very silly question, but is there any way of changing the font and font size in a query window in MS SQL Server Management Studio Express?
It would just make life a lot easier if I could see more of the text!
I have 2 issues wih the appearance of my report both in the preview tab and when I deploy.
1. My report contains a subreport and the subreport appears indented from the left edge of the main report. How can I stop this? I won't the subreport to be aligned with the main report. 2. The last column of my report is stretched to the edge of the page even though I have all my cells set to CanGrow = false. How can I stop this?
Hi, i was checking books online and run into the sp_OAxxxx stored procs that can give us access to a OLE Object. I am currently developing a VB.Net app that uses a word template to create word documents. So, for example ,i we suppose that the template is : -----Template start ------- This document was created by <!_author_> on <!_date_> -----Template end -------- then, the created document would be : -----Created doc start ------- This document was created by justsarter on 09/13/2007 -----Created doc end --------
All the data are fetched from a database and i have to make muptiple calls to it ,not to mention opening and closing word.application object.
I wonder if that kind of text manipulation in the document can be performed on the server using an SP Thx theodore
I'm hoping someone can help me out with this. In order to add an sequence dimension in an ssas cube, I need to rank chronological item in a t-sql data set in order of their distinct appearance. I've tried to do this in mdx and there's just no easy way. I've also tried various ways in t-sql to achive, includeing ranking functions, custom udf, etc. To no avail.
So the "register" action would be the first thing a user did, "create_item_a" the second, create_item_b the third. However, the next occurrance of create_item_a would still retain the rank of 2 as it's not a new action for this user. The ranks would be unique to the actions, based on the first time they occurred.
This has been perplexing, but I feel like there is simple way to do this using some of the ranking functions, but just haven't been able to get it figure out.
Hello, I am attempting to modify an existing matrix report into something a bit more diverse and aesthetically appealing to our users. The problem is changing the size of columns, rows, border types, etc. So far I have not yet been able to locate any custom code samples that refer to ways of changing the overall appearance and properties of the matrix. I am not concerned with the data but in some cases a column's width will need to be larger or smaller based on the size of the data inside it. The strings can range from 3 characters to 15 or more and the number of columns can be just as dynamic in number. If that happens I need to shrink or expand a column to match.
I am familiar with using custom code just not in using it to access the matrix properties.
I have a report that has a toggle item that toggles between showing and hiding report items specifically the detail rows, I am wondering can I also used this toggle item to change the font color of other report items. Exampl is I have a toggle item, EmployeeName that toggles the detail rows of the employee from visible to hidden. Can I also use this toggle to change the text color of other report items or highlighting different items.
I have written a query to search for a string in an expression by the number of it's appearance. Script is like this:
DECLARE @Expression VARCHAR(8000) = 'abcd_e_fgh', @SearchString VARCHAR(10)= '_', @OccuranceNumber SMALLINT = 1 DECLARE @SearchIndex INT = 0, @SearchIndexPrevious INT = 0, @Sno INT = 0 WHILE @Sno < @OccuranceNumber BEGIN
[Code] .....
Here i'm trying to search "_" in expression "abcd_e_fgh" where it is appearing for first time. it gives me 5 correctly. Now when i change the @OccurenceNumber to 2 or 3, it gives correct values 7 and -1 respectively. However now when i change it to 4, it gives me 5. So when it's trying to check for fifth appearance of "_", it's not actually giving 0 or -1 but repeating the value 5.
Hi - I am changing a field from type nvarchar to type text, given thatI need to store strings longer than 255 characters. To do this Ichange the data type in SQL Server, then I change the parameter code inthe calling procedure, as per below:cmd.Parameters.Append(cmd.CreateParameter("@title", adVarWChar,adParamInput, 255, title));becomes:cmd.Parameters.Append(cmd.CreateParameter("@title", adLongVarWChar,adParamInput, 1073741823, title));However, when I do this, for some reason, the field is still limited to255 characters - when I try to update the field with 256 characters, the error 'Application uses a value of the wrong type for the currentoperation.' occurs. Why is this? I've checked that the correct data is contained in theparameter. When I look at the data in the database, the column inquestion shows the content, whereas the next column, which has alwaysbeen of type text, shows '<LongText>' - does this mean anything? Do Ineed to do something special to convert the column from nvarchar totext? Many thanks,Iain
My SQL Server 2005 SP4 on Windows 2008 R2 is flooded with the below errors:-
Date 10/25/2011 10:55:46 AM Log SQL Server (Current - 10/25/2011 10:55:00 AM) Source spid Message Event Tracing for Windows failed to send an event. Send failures with the same error code may not be reported in the future. Error ID: 0, Event class ID: 54, Cause: (null).
Is there a way I can trace it how it is coming? When I check input buffer for these ids, it looks like it is tracing everything. All the general application DMLs are coming in these spids.
I have been testing with the WMI Event Watcher Task, so that I can identify a change to a file. The WQL is thus:
SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent within 30 WHERE targetinstance isa 'CIM_DataFile' AND targetinstance.name = 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Backup\AdventureWorks.bak'
This polls every 30 secs and in the SSIS Event (ActionAtEvent in the WMI Task is set to fire the SSIS Event) I have a simple script task that runs a message box).
My understanding is that the event polls every 30 s and if there is a change on the AdventureWorks.bak file then the event is triggered and the script task will run producing the message. However, when I run the package the message is occurring every 30s, meaning the event is continually firing even though there has been NO change to the AdventureWorks.bak file.
Am I correct in my understanding of how this should work and if so why is the event firing when it should not ?
Server 2003 SE SP1 5.2.3790 Sql Server 2000, SP 4, 8.00.2187 (latest hotfix rollup) We fixed one issue, but it brought up another. the fix we applied stopped the ServicesActive access failure, but now we have a failure on MSSEARCH. The users this is affecting do NOT have admin rights on the machine, they are SQL developers. We were having

We recently upgraded to SQL 2005 from SQL 2000. We have most of our issues ironed out however about every 1 minute there is a message in the Application Event log and the SQL log that states:
EVENT ID 18456 Login Failed for the users DOMAIN/ACCOUNT [CLIENT: <local machine>]
This is a state 16 message which I thought meant that the account does not have access to the default database. The account is actually the account that the SQL services run under.
Any ideas? We can't seem to figure this one out. We actually upgraded to 2005 from 2000 and had an error appear after every reboot that prevented the SQL Agent from running(This application has failed to start because GAPI32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.) We did a full uninstall of SQL and reinstalled fresh and restored the databases from .bak files and that is when the EVENT ID 18546 started occuring every minute.
We don't have any SQL heavy hitters here so please be detailed with any possible solutions. That you very much for any help you can provide!
Following are the two events frequently observed in the system event error log has any body come across these errors
1.The description for Event ID ( 318 ) in Source ( SQLServerAgent$XYZ ) could not be found. It contains the following insertion string(s):
2.he Open Procedure for service "MSSQLServer" in DLL "SQLCTR70.DLL" failed. Performance data for this service will not be available. Status code returned is DWORD 0.

Hello there! I installed and configured SQL Server 2005 reporting services. When I try to connect to it using SQL Server Management Studio, I get the following error: Client found response content type of "text/html", but expected "text/xml". What should be done to overcome this? Does anyone have any idea about this? Thanks in advance Hemant
Hi, In my VB .Net application , when I am trying to fire a SSRS report on my local machine . Its giving the error ".Client found response content type of 'text/html', but expected 'text/xml'." The request failed with the error message: -- <html><head><title>Error</title></head><body>The Local Security Authority cannot be contacted </body></html> --. the error is being thrown at the code line...
Hi, i'm trying to do a full text search on my site to add a weighting score to my results. I have the following database structure: Documents: - DocumentID (int, PK) - Title (varchar) - Content (text) - CategoryID (int, FK) Categories: - CategoryID (int, PK) - CategoryName (varchar) I need to create a full text index which searches the Title, Content and CategoryName fields. I figured since i needed to search the CategoryName field i would create an indexed view. I tried to execute the following query: CREATE VIEW vw_DocumentsWITH SCHEMABINDING ASSELECT dbo.Documents.DocumentID, dbo.Documents.Title, dbo.Documents.[Content], dbo.Documents.CategoryID, dbo.Categories.CategoryNameFROM dbo.Categories INNER JOIN dbo.Documents ON dbo.Categories.CategoryID = dbo.Documents.CategoryID GOCREATE UNIQUE CLUSTERED INDEX vw_DocumentsIndexON vw_Documents(DocumentID) But this gave me the error: Cannot create index on view 'dbname.dbo.vw_Documents'. It contains text, ntext, image or xml columns. I tried converting the Content to a varchar(max) within my view but it still didn't like. Appreciate if someone can tell me how this can be done as surely what i'm trying to do is not ground breaking.
Hello everyone ! I want to perform Full Text Search with SQL Server 2000. My documents (.doc, .xls, .txt, .pdf) are stored in a SQL Server field which is binary (the type of the column is image). I would like to know, how you can extract pieces of text from the documents. Example: I have a ASPX page with codebehind in C# making the search in a table in SQL server that is full text indexed. I make a search looking for the word "peace", than SQL server will take care about the search and return it to me the rows that match with that. But also I'd like to extract the 50 characters before and after where sql server found the word "peace" to show in the result page. Does anyone has any idea how to work around it ? Best regards. Yannick
I get this error: The data types text and text are incompatible in the equal to operator. when trying to execute this query SELECT id FROM users WHERE username=@userName
I have text data files from a third party and they use comma as field delimiters and enclose the text for each column in double-quotes. Not a problem for most of the data files until they start sending files where there is " within the column values. SSIS package fails with the error:
The column delimiter for column "Column 1" was not found.
Any ideas on how to resolve this issue will be greatly appreciated.Thankspcp
Im a programmer for an university webportal which uses php and msssql. When an user creates a new entry and his text is too long the entry is cut short and weird characters appear at the end of the entry.
For example: http://www.ttz.uni-magdeburg.de/scripts/test-messedb/php/index.php?option=show_presse&funktion=presse_show_mitteilung&id=333
How can I set the text limit to unlimited? Could it be something else? Is there a way of splitting an entry to several text fields automatically?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me, Chris
I am getting these errors from Report Manager. It seems that every time after the server has been idling for about 15 minutes, I would get this error message. I can click on other links and I am able to continue to use Report Manager.
Is there a timeout setting to help me resolve this or is this a bug with Report Manager? I just insitalled SP2 on the SQL Server and the Reporting Service.
