Cluster Failing Connections With SSL Error Message
Aug 9, 2006
We recently migrated our production environment from a win2k3/SQL 2000 EE cluster to a new 64 bit win2k3/ SQL 2005 SP1 Cluster.
Cluster works fine for a while (3-6 hours), then our logins start failing. We recieve the following error in the event log:
"The server was unable to load the SSL provider library needed to log in; the connection has been closed. SSL is used to encrypt either the login sequence or all communications, depending on how the administrator has configured the server. See Books Online for information on this error message"
The only way to resume connectivity is to offline and online the sql service in the cluster.
The only reference to this error that I can find has something to do with a hotfix that might be available?
I have a Data Flow task which uses an XML File Source with six parellell Outputs, each going firstly to a Data Conversion Task, then the results of each end in a SQL Server Destination Object. (All using the SQL Native Client)
To eplain this further, the Xml file contains 6 different types of elements, the Dataflow splits out each type of element and processes them into different tables. The Data Transformation object exists only because the XML fields are Uni-code and the table fields are VarChar not nVarChar.
Initially using this setup I found that the Connection would timeout using the SQL Native Client so I changed the Timout on the Destination Objects to 0. This fixed the problem to some degree, however at present I can run the Pakage using the Visual Studio enviroment and everything works fine, no problem. When I run the Dtsx file using the SQL Server Agent, I end up getting the error below...

I understand that this error is somewhat of a 'catch all' and that the way the Native SQL Server Connection object works makes Error Capturing difficult. I have tried a few things which I will list as I'm sure they will be suggested...
I have played around with the 'MaxInsertCommitSize' property of the SQL Server Destination Objects to no avail (IE, changing to 50000, 10000, 1000 all of which resulted in the same problem)
I am running the ssis pakage from the server which is the destination
As mentioned above the Timeout on the SQL Server Destination Objects is set to 0
What I have already mentioned and still don'tt quite understand is that I can run the job successfully from the Visual Studio enviroment but as a job run off the SQL Server it fails...
i am attempting to bcp using the -T (trusted connection) option in sql 6.5. the login security mode is set to integrated. the bcp is however failing with msg 18452 error not associated with a trusted connection. why is this happening? i do not want to hardcode the sa password in the bcp command.
I am tying to set up an SQL 2005, SP1 failover cluster on a new set of hardware. Everytime I try to run the install, I get this error
TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup ------------------------------
Setup failed to start on the remote machine. Check the Task scheduler event log on the remote machine.
I've gone through this doc (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms189910.aspx) and checked all of the applicable cautions:
I don't have an antivirus package running.
All of the SQL setup pre-checks run fine.
I have a SQL Group created, with the shared drive as a resource.
NBT is disabled on both heartbeat NIC's.
NBT is explicitly enabled on both external NIC's.
While I do have DDNS running, just to be safe I've pre-created an A record for my SQL VR.
Both nodes are registered in DNS and Setup correctly finds the second node.
In the Application event log on the second node (the one failing...), I get MSI Installer 'Install Started' successes (and sometimes I even get "Product: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 -- Installation completed successfully.")
I am running the install as myself, a Domain Admin and am explicitly added to the Administrators group on both servers.
Remote Registry is running.
Task Scheduler is running.
There is plenty of space everywhere.
All of the Admin shares are enabled.
The node I am running the install from is the owner of all of the cluster groups and resources:
Cluster group
MSDTC group
SQL group
This is all that is in my setup log:
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 9.00.1399.06 ============================== OS Version : Microsoft Windows Server 2003 family, Enterprise Edition Service Pack 2 (Build 3790) Time : Tue Nov 06 16:45:52 2007
Task did not appear to start on machine: \ERLEW01B: 267013
I'm at a total loss and I'm getting very frustrated...
In SQL Server 7.0 I right click on the database, select Tasks, Select backup, then indicate backup of database (complete) to tape. Overwrite (I put tape into NT Server), OK, then it says backup in progress and then I get the message shown in the subject...
Any advice please? I have backed up NT files on this tape before and have tried a second tape...
On one my cluster box, all the previous connections got broke when the cluster service move/roll over to secondary server. The previous connections were on primary server and when the roll over occurs, all these connections didn't roll over but only new connections does. I want to know that the significance of cluster is only for new connections ?
When I move an SQL group to the other cluster member, it seems that the ODBC connections hang on the client web servers, and do not process any queries until they are rebooted. I'm using IIS/Cold fusion web servers with an SQL 7.0 Cluster (MSCS). Any ideas why this may be happening?
I'm using the Message Queuing task to create a local private queue message. Everything works great on a 32 bit machine. When I try this on a 64 bit Itanium Cluster I keep getting the message "Message queue service is not available" in my SSIS log. I've using this string as my path "ClusterNameprivate$QueueName". Does anyone know of any issues with the Message Queue task on 64 bit or a cluster? The Message Queue service is up and running, it doesn't make sense.
I have a Microsoft Cluster running on Server 2003 Entrprise. SQL 2000 8.00.2039 (SP4). 5gb physical memory installed.
With the databases online we run a test failover from the Cluster administrator. It takes about 30-40 seconds and completes without generating any Server Event log errors nor SQL log errors. Everything looks good from an administrative stand point.
However, when we test with running a series of queries to the databases, then failover, we notice that it can take up to 3 or 4 minutes before some of the databases will respond. Connections are not refused, they just sit there.
How can we troubleshoot this or does anyone have a similiar experience with this scenario?
Hi. I have installed an SQL 2005 Failover Cluster on a Two Node Active Passive Windows 2003 Cluster. If i am trying to failover from the Active node to the passive Node,The Sql Server,Sql Server Agent and SQL Analysis resources fail,However if i reset the passowrd in the services tab of the above three services on the pasive node, the resources come online. Below is the brief of my setup 1.I have two Active directory domain controllers running Windows 2003 R2 Standard edition with SP2. 2.i have installed a Windows 2003 Two Node Active Passive Cluster as NODE1 and NODE2. 3.The Domain account used to install WIndows 2003 A/P Cluster is Clusteradmin. This account is the member of Administartors on the Domain as well as the Local Admin on NODE1 and NODE2. 4.SQL 2005 with SP2 is installed on both the Nodes as SQL 2005 Failover Cluster. The account used to install SQL 2005 is sqadmin. This account is the member of Administartors on the domain and the member of Local Admins on NODE1 and NODE2. 5.SLQ 2005 has four domain groups for 4 SQL Services. The Services are SQL Server,SQL Server Agent,SLQ Anaylisis Server and Full text Search. 6.Each of these servcie has a seperate service account created for them. All these service accounts areb the members of domain admin and the member of Local Admin on NODE1 and NODE2. 7.Each of these servcies is running under these servcie accounts in the Servcies tab in NODE1 and NODE2. 8.If i fail the resources from NODE1 to NODE2 ,The SQL Server,SQL Server Agent and SQL Anaylisis resources are failing.on going to the service tab of NODE 2 I reset the password for these services, the services come online. 10.The Cluster resources and MSDTC Resources are Failing over successfully. They are coming online successfully. 11,I have a problem with the SQL Server Resources, even if i failback to NODE1 from NODE2,the same resources are failing again.
We have a stored procedure that calculates the floor nr for users at our company campus using their office location. The calculation is done by a function that returns an integer. Unfortunately, not all users enter their information correctly so the function sometimes raises an error. Below is the code of that stored procedure.
UPDATE PERSONS
SET FLOORNR = dbo.FloorNR(OFFICELOCATION)
WHERE OFFICELOCATION IS NOT NULL
IF(@@ERROR <> 0 OR @@ROWCOUNT = 0)
BEGIN
RAISERROR ('Failed to calculate the floor number', 16, 1 ) with nowait
END
However, when the function dbo.FloorNR fails, it doesn't raise our error, but it seems to raise the error that comes from dbo.FloorNR.
How can we catch errors that come from dbo.FloorNr so that we can raise our own error? Our company still uses SQL 2000, so we cannot use the SQL 2005 try/catch option.
I have an File System Task that copies a file from one directory ot another. When I hard code the target directory (c:dirfile.txt) it works fine. When I change it to a virtual directory (\serverdirfile.txt) I get a security error:
[File System Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Access to the path '\gracehbtest oS2TMM_Live_Title_000002.xml' is denied.".
I'm trying to use an XML Task to do a simple XSLT operation, but it fails with this error message:
[XML Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "There are multiple root elements. Line 5, position 2.".
The source XML file validates fine and I've successfully used it as the XML Source in a data flow task to load some SQL Server tables. It has very few line breaks, so the first 5 lines are pretty long: almost 4000 characters, including 34 start-tags, 19 end-tags, and 2 empty element tags. Here's the very beginning of it:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <ESDU releaselevel="2006-02" createdate="26 May 2006"><package id="1" title="_standard" shorttitle="_standard" filename="pk_stan" supplementdate="01/05/2005" supplementlevel="1"><abstract><![CDATA[This package contains the standard ESDU Series.]]></abstract>
There is only 1 ESDU root element and only 1 package element.
Of course, the XSLT stylesheet is also an XML document in its own right. I specify it directly in the XML Task:
When a SQL job has been created to run a local DTS package it failswith the following error message. The job failed. Unable to determine if the owner(DomainNameUserAccount) of job MyJobName has server access (reason:Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'DomainNameUserAccount'. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 8198)).The package runs if executed from the DTS Local Packages in EnterpriseManager.I have seen other articles about changing the owner to SA, this wouldnot work as a domain account is required to connect to a network share. How can I get the SQL Job to run as a domain account?
Hi, I am trying to load data to SQL server 2005 table using BCP from Cognos data warehouse tool. This works most of the cases but adhocly fails or delays BCP loading considerably.

I have a pretty complicated report (lots of subreports, tables, etc) that can be well over a few hundred pages long. I can generate the report just fine, but I cannot seem to export it to anything other than an html archive. I need to export to PDF. Every time I try to export it get an error that says:
An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details.
I don't get any more information than that. Is there a way that I can figure out what the actual error is, or any other way I can go about troubleshooting this? Thanks.

I think based on my testing so far (also tried ' ' as the rowtermination param, but then it gives me a truncation error for the first row only, leading me to think it cannot find the end of the row that way.
I am still looking through archives and on the web, but have not seen anything specific to my issue yet...and cannot believe that I am the first to BULK INSERT this kind of data.
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.)
My apologies...I wasn't for sure where to post an error like this...
Over the last 2 months I have gotten this SQL Server error (twice). All existing processes will continue to work, however no new processes can be created and users cannot connect to the server. This is the exact text of the message in the SQL Server error log.

While we can typically just stop SQL Server Service and restart the services...I have found it is best to restart the machine during non-production times to take care of any 'residual' effects of this error.
The SQL Server 2000 SP4 box with Windows 2003 Standard SP1 is well maintained by our I.T. team and it typically will run 4 or 5 months without a reboot.
Hi, I have developed a website in asp.net 2. I have tester it and it is working fine on my computer but when I have uploaded it to my server I'm getting an error message when the user signup. The error occurs when I'm setting the user role to 'members'.
Error line > Roles.AddUserToRole(user.UserName, "members")
The strage thig is that it is working on my computer but not on the server. My home computer and the server are running the same software versions and the website database is the same as well.
To double check that my code is not generating the error I have lonched 'SQL Query Analizer' and executed the folowing code on my database: NOTE: In my database I have create the user āteeluk12ā? and a role āmembersā?
Trying to connect to remote server croaktoad.simpli.biz I have SQL 2005 Developer on XP SP2 , I have disabled my windows firewall. I can ping to my server (croaktoad.simpli.biz) and i get no error message. My remote connection using both TCP/IP and named pipes are checkeed. My SQL Server Browser is running as well.
However when I try to connect using Managment Studio or running SQLCMD /Scroaktoad. simpli.biz /E I get the following error message

So I've read all the forums for past 2 days and tried everything, nothing changed Any ideas?
I'm running SQL Server 7.0 SP3 and having trouble with DTS.
I have an Execute SQL Task that runs several stored procedures. When one of the stored procedures fails, the Execute SQL Task just terminates without failing.
I found a knowledge base article (Q238523) dealing with this situation but it was supposedly fixed in SP2 - I have SP3! The other work around suggested, issuing a SET NOCOUNT ON, does not always work.
Has anyone else run into this or have any other suggestions.
I hate the thought of spending days doing another work around in order get basic DTS functionalty to work as it should!

HelloI am running a DTS (Sql 2000) and transfering data from an SqlServerdatabase to an Ingres database.I am transfering 153k rows.Execution fails with the error message:"The number of failing rows exceeded the maximum specified"The number of rows shouldn't be a problem because in another DTS I copya lot more rows. Also the width of the row shouldn't be a problem, I'm transfering only 3int4 fields and 1 char(5) field.Anyone have an idea what the problem could be ?ThanksDavid Greenberg
I have a package that fails as soon as it hits the first Data Flow that contains a Derived Column task. The task takes three date columns and looks for a date of 6/6/2079. If it is there, it is replaced with a NULL. This task worked fine until I installed the Non-CTP version of SQL 2005 SP1, earlier today. (I went from RTM 9.0.1399 to SP1 9.0.2047)Does anyone have any ideas?
Here is the error I am trapping:
An error occurred while evaluating the function.
The "component "Update Max Date Value to NULL" (346)" failed because error code 0xC0049067 occurred, and the error row disposition on "input column "WeekEndingDate" (455)" specifies failure on error. An error occurred on the specified object of the specified component.
The ProcessInput method on component "Update Max Date Value to NULL" (346) failed with error code 0xC0209029. The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running.
Thread "WorkThread0" has exited with error code 0xC0209029.
I tried to configure the error output to ignore the failure. The task succeeded. It did not insert anything, however, for the three columns in question. It then failed on the next Data Flow that contained a Derived Column task. I tried to pre-populate the columns with a default date, but no go. Any help would be appreciated.
I have a bundling package that runs about 20 other packages. It has been working fine for a while but a couple of days ago it fail with the following message,
Error 0x800706BE while loading package file "D:PackagesToradSales.dtsx". The remote procedure call failed.
I“m running the SSIS packages in an 64-bit environment.
I'm not sure if this is the correct group for this messages, but here it is anyway.
I have a job that has 3 steps to, periodicly the job errors out on Step 1. Following is the message (from Job History).

Can someone please explain this message, I have no idea how to fix it or what the cause is.
I am developing an integration solution for MS CRM.
The basic idea is to have a CLR stored procedure that draws data from a SQL database, transforms the data, and then adds it to MS CRM via the webservice.
When executing the stored proc, it randomly fails (although at approximately the same time, everytime).
This is the error message:

If someone could please give some advice, I would really appreciate it.

How can I debug this further to see what's going wrong?
we need download files from FTP location , so we are using script component as sourceĀ and when we are using the fallowing code// read a file and write out as columns in rows
WebClient myWebClient = new WebClient(); myWebClient.Credentials = new NetworkCredential(Variables.ftpLogin, Variables.ftpPassword);
// Concatenate the domain with the Web resource filename. string myStringWebResource = Variables.fileURL + Variables.fileName;
string s = myWebClient.DownloadString(myStringWebResource); StringReader reader = new StringReader(s);
we are getting the fallowing errorĀ The server returned an error: (404) Not Found. are we missing anything in the code.
