Combining Multiple Subreports Into A Single Report
Oct 2, 2006
The goal is to produce a single PDF consisting of a number of subreports. Some are landscape, others are portrait. The subreports may also be run as independent reports. The master report that contains them defaults to the width of the widest subreport, which is landscape. This causes all portrait subreports to spill over producing blank pages. Are there any work-arounds to concatenate multiple, single report PDFs into a single PDF and have page numbering too?

I joined these two tables and it pulled up the proper amount of records. If you check out the image you will see what the results are for this query.
Now all I need for this part would be to roll these up where I have one row per ProgramID and all the AttributeNames' together in a AttributeNames column for each id.
EXAMPLE: All in one row.
ProgramID | AttributeNames 887 | Studydesign, Control Groups, Primary Outcomes.
I have attached an image of the SQL VIEW that I need to modified so it does this.
THE QUERY:
SELECT TOP (100) PERCENT dbo.tblProgramAttributes.ProgramID, dbo.tblProgramAttributes.AttributeID AS PAattributeID, dbo.tblAttributes.AttributeID, dbo.tblAttributes.AttributeName FROM dbo.tblProgramAttributes INNER JOIN dbo.tblAttributes ON dbo.tblProgramAttributes.AttributeID = dbo.tblAttributes.AttributeID WHERE (dbo.tblProgramAttributes.AttributeID NOT LIKE '%ProgramType%') ORDER BY dbo.tblProgramAttributes.ProgramID DESC
I want to combine a series of outputs from tsql queries into a single flat file destination using SSIS.
Does anyone have any inkling into how I would do this.
I know that I can configure a flat file connection manager to accept the output from the first oledb source, but am having difficulty with subsequent queries.
I have a report in SSRS 2008 R2 that has multiple subreports, in fact the report uses the same subreport twice with different parameters. Then that subreport also has a subreport, which has a subreport. (It's a complex data scenario with a hierarchy that can go up to three layers deep.) The report renders fine in report viewer, but when I try to export to PDF I get the following error:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportServerException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

[Code] ....
Each subreport renders correctly to PDF, and if I remove either subreport from the main report, it also renders correctly. But the two subreports together on the report cause the error.
Removing the third hierarchy layer (the final one) fixes the issue. Is there a limit to the number of nested subreports when rendering to a pdf?
The version of Report Builder I have will only let me choose from a very limited range of layouts. For example, the tabular layout displays a single table on a page.
Is there a way to produce a report containing two tables and other fields?
For example, I would like to create a very simple customer report with customer name and address at the top, then a table containing all contacts I have for the the customer (a 1:N sub-table of customer) and then a second table containing all the orders from the customer (a 1:N sub-table of customer).
Is this possible in the current version of Report Builder or is it planned in a future relase?
P.S. I know this is easy in VS Report Designer but I specifically want to do this in Report Builder. The Report Designer client is simply too complex for my non-technical user base. Report Builder would be ideal.
how to count from multiple tables. So currently I pull two separate reports to show the count of TaskIDs by customer state and another to show WrapID by Customer state for last month:
TaskID Count by Customer state Query: --------------------------------------- SELECT CU.CustomerState as 'State' ,Count (CM.TaskID) as 'CaseCount' From Customer CU LEFT OUTER JOIN ACN_CCPCaseManagementTask CM ON CU.CustID=CM.CustID
[code]...
I am wanting to add both these counts into a single report so i tried the follow query but the counts don't match to the reports I pull separately.
SELECT CU.CustomerState as 'State' ,Count (CM.TaskID) as 'CaseCount' ,Count (CW.WrapCodeID) as 'WrapCount' From Customer CU LEFT OUTER JOIN ACN_CCPCaseManagementTask CM ON CU.CustID=CM.CustID LEFT OUTER JOIN acn_ccpwrapcode
In my form i have a list box and i need to display paticular records of all employees I selected. So please tell me how to pass multiple values from a single parameter.
currently i am able to pass single value through a parameter using following code
osqlreport.reportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportServerUrl = new Uri("http://localhost/reportserver");
I am using SQL RS 2005. I have a report that is using multiple data sources from different offices. I can add these data sources in my report but is it possible that I can select a specific data source based on a selected parameter value. In this case user from each office, select their office location and be able to see the data from their office. I would appreciate any suggestions. Sal
I have a Report which has 8 stored procedures to get 8 resultant data sets . the stored procedures are almost similar such that they have only difference is the where clause and column getting returned.
So ,every stored access same set of tables and temporary tables getting created to store some set of active data derived from big table.
what happening is ,when i run the stored procedures individually in query analyser ,it is taking the time which is accepatable individually, but when i keep them in the same report. it is taking the time which is equal to sum of all the times taken by the stored procedures ran individually in query analyser which is some what not acceptable
can anybody through an idea, what can be done here. i already thought of locks and kept set transaction isolation level read uncomitted for all the stored procedures.but the time taking is same.
I have an application wherein I need to generate a single report(possibly in PDF format) which contains more than one report. Iam using SSRS 2005. In my application Iam using report server url to render reports. The below is URL for rendering single report.
I have multiple data sources that I would like to use for a single report. The data sources are separate due to security requirements. I have a table that I can get the Initial Catalog from. How do I get that field from the database into the data source connection string at run time?
I saw this link here but the light bulb didn't go off:
I am using SS 2005 RS. I am able to generate single page pdf reports by passing "id" as a parameter. Now I need to send multiple ids as parameter and generate one big report which would contain reports for all the ids supplied on separate pages. Is this possible? If yes, then how do i do this.
What I have tried so far is, I created new report with a list control and added single page report as a subreport to this list control and grouped this list control using id parameter. When i send multiple ids in the parameter, for example 3 ids, it generates 3 page report but only for the first id. So it generates report for the first id and repeats same report 3 times.
I would like to know if it is possible to have different applications on separate report servers sharing one report server database. If so are there possible issues or ptfalls to this type of architecture?
So I get the basics, have a script that can deploy a single report to a single server. I have other simple scripts that work as well. Now I want a script that can deploy a single report to multiple Sharepoint servers. I have about 30. I know we are probably doing this wrong, as in, we shouldn't be deploying the same report to 30 sites, as they are all all technically all on the same server however they are all independent site collections so as far as I know there is no way to deploy them to a central location and then link to them from each site.
So I tried to copy elements of my single report deploy script and duplicate the Sub Main() to Sub Main1() and Sub Main2() with multiple "ParentPath1" dims, yes I know I'm stupid. That obviously didn't work. So looking at some other scripts including my own subscription updater and I'm sure I need to do some kind of "For Each item in X" but where to start. The other lists I've seen all come from rs.Something. My list is just 30 variables in the script, how can I say for each site in this list, Publish this report?
Here's the simple script that works fine. I just don't know how to modify it to make it deploy this to multiple sites. After I figure that out, I was going to accept the challenge of deploying multiple reports to multiple sites in a single script...
Dim warnings As Warning() = Nothing Dim parentFolder As String = "Reports" Dim filePath As String = "filepath" Dim reportName As String = "Report file name" Dim parentPath As String = "Sharepoint site URL" Public Sub Main()
strange behaviour in our production environment, while in the test servers all goes ok:
web application with web report viewer, the report is fine but clicking on "preview" or "print" an error 0x800C008 occurs.
The report include 3 subreports, and here's the problem: after some attempts i realized that each subreport (alone in the master report) works fine, but more than 1 in the same master report produces the error!
w3wp!library!7!04/17/2007-11:23:55:: e ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.InternalCatalogException: Errore interno nel server di report. I have 4 subreports that I need to display in the main report. I can pull a sub-report with in the main report howevere the subreport doesn't display any data. It just gives me a blank template like:
Customer name Customer # Address 1 Address2 city
The subreport itself is not empty when I open it otherwise it shows me a list of all the customers however, no data when I call it as a part of main report.
I have problem with using a data-driven subscription on a report with subreports. It works fine when I remove the subreport and generates error even when I add a subreport which only consists of one textbox.
I just was curious to know if using data-driven subscription on a report with subreports is supposed to work?
I got a error when exporting to excel one report that has a table and in a column it has a subreport.
Is this possible to do?
What is the work around?
The error that i got it is the following.
Server Error in '/Reports' Application. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a master report that contains 4 sub reports. The first two subreports contains matrix controls that can (and will) spill over to a second page. With 5 columns of data the matrix subreports fit nicely onto one page, 6 or more columns and they will spill into a second page. The second two subreports will always fit onto one single page. All four subreports are inside a list control which will repeat for each structure. e.g. Each subreport will be rendered once per structure.
The master report renders perfectly (with no blank pages) whenever the two subreports with the matrix controls fit on one page each. However, whenever the matrix control subreports spill into a second page it causes the master report to insert a blank page after subreport 3 and 4, bare in mind subreport 3 and 4 both fit perfectly on a single page. I've check all margins and page widths etc.
The blank page problem only occurs whenever the matrix needs to span two pages.
Anybody encountered this problem or have any ideas how to fix it? I'm beginning to think it is a bug with reporting services.
Here's my problem. I have an SSRS report with subreports on it. The main report and subreports work fine on my machine when I run the main report. However, when I deploy them to our test server and change the server name of the shared datasource, only the main report brings back data. The subreports show an error of something like "Error in displaying the subreport" for each subreport. The subreports require parameters that I believe I am supplying from the main report. What am I doing wrong? Is it really necessary to deploy the subreports with the main report to the new server. With Crystal Reports, I didn't have to do this. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
In my project i want a report. In that report data is getting from more than one data sources(systems). While creating data source view i used named query for both primary and secondary data source. But at the time of crating "Report Model" i am getting below error.
An error occurred while executing a command. Message: Invalid object name 'Table2'. Command: SELECT COUNT(*) FROM (SELECT SerialNum, ModelNum AS com_model FROM Table2) t
Is there any way to create a report with multiple data sources?
As you can tell, the 'custom_address' column is going to house the results of the combination.
I am trying to INSERT (combine) using this statement:
INSERT #Custom_Address select cm.patient_id, cm.episode_id, (cc.coverage_plan_add1 +' ' + coverage_plan_add2 + ' ' + coverage_plan_city+ ' ' + coverage_plan_st+ ' ' + coverage_plan_zip) as custom_address FROM #ClaimMaster cm join Coverage_Custom cc on cm.patient_id = cc.patient_id and cm.episode_id = cc.episode_id WHEREcc.coverage_plan_add1 > 0 OR cc.coverage_plan_add2 > 0 OR cc.coverage_plan_city > 0 OR cc.coverage_plan_st > 0 OR cc.coverage_plan_zip > 0 GROUP BY cm.patient_id, cm.episode_id
I want to insert the patient_id, episode_id, and then combine the 'cc.coverage_plan_add1 +' ' + coverage_plan_add2 + ' ' + coverage_plan_city+ ' ' + coverage_plan_st+ ' ' + coverage_plan_zip' data to represent my "custom_address" column and only when there is data in those columns.
Then I do my update:
UPDATE#ClaimMaster SET #ClaimMaster.custom_address = ca.custom_address FROM #ClaimMaster JOIN#Custom_Address ca on #ClaimMaster.patient_id = ca.patient_id and #ClaimMaster.episode_id = ca.episode_id
However, when I do this, it says my 'cc.coverage_plan_add1 + etc' columns are invalid because they are not contained in either an aggregate function or a GROUP By clause.
If i'm combining all the data to represent a single column, how do I format my group by clause? Or is my entire INSERT statement wrong?
As a side note, my #ClaimMaster table is another temp table, but the problem is not in there.
I've tried something like this but since I'm referencing trans_type I get a message that trans_type must be in Group by. doing that give me multiple records.
select cus_no, Inv_no, Sum(Amount_Invoiced_DC) AS InvAmt, case trans_type when 'Sales Inv' then sum(Amount_Paid_DC) else 0 end as AmtPaid, case when trans_type = 'Discount' and sum(Amount_Paid_DC)<0 then sum(Amount_Paid_DC) else 0 end as DiscountAmt FROM BI50_BankTransactions_AR_InvcDt_H where cus_no is not null group by cus_no, Inv_no
quite urgent... I have 3 matix tables.. all the same row headings. I need to be able to make these visible/invisible depending on the user parameters. The reason for this, if a user hides table on the left.. the middle table needs to show the row headings. and last table must not.
The problem: When making the row headings invisible it doesnt exactly chop off the textboxes... so the tables look disjoint.. and a big gap appears between both tables...
Is there a way to join these tables without leavings gaps ?
OK I have 4 differant Data Sources... One being a count of one DB, another count of another DB, another count of another and then another process from a script component. Each source returns 1 row of data with 1 column each except the Script Component. It returns 3 columns... Now I need to take each of the row's returned and combine them to a single row (line) and inset them into another table just as one single eatry. I am using a Union All and when it runs I see the 4 Data Sources say 1 Row... But after it hits the Union All it does 4 rows... What am I doing wrong or am I using the wrong component? Please if anyone can help that would be wonderful.
I was wondering if it's possible to have a stored procedure that has two select statements which you can combine as a single result set. For instance:select name, age, titlefrom tableaselect name, age, titlefrom tablebCould you combine these queries into a single result set?
