When I try and download Sqlce30setupen.msi from the msdn site, I keep getting the install for the mobile tools. Can someone explain why this is happening. I am new to SQL compact and I am trying to go through the tutorial http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb226707.aspx. This tutorial says the download should be for SQL Compact setup.
We are replicating SQL Server Compact and SQL Server 2008. My understanding is that SQL Server 2008 can only replicate with Compact 3.5 SP1, not Compact 3.5.
I have not been able to locate a download fromMicrosoft for SQL Compact 3.5 SP1. The download that is available is for Compact 3.5 (without the SP1).
Does anyone know where I can get the SP1 download?
Dear all, Anybody knows where to download the beta release of SQL Compact Edition 3.5. Please provide the URL to download this 3.5 of SQL CE. Thanks Gops Sofist India gopalan@sofist.com
I have SQL Mobile 2005 server tools installed on my server and also my development PC. I started working with SQL Compact on a mobile application I'm developing so I downloaded the SQL Compact Server Tools and installed on my laptop and it added folders "syncSQL" to my "Program FilesSQL Mobile" folder. I used the configure web sync wizard to create a sync folder for SQL Compact and it added the file sqlcesa30.dll version 3.0.5300.0 to the new folder. The previous sync folders set up using SQL Mobile have version 3.0.5214.0 of the same file.
I then went to install the Compact Server Tools on my server (downloaded the file). When it was installing it asked if I wanted to repair or remove SQL Mobile Server Tools (it didn't do this on the laptop install). I selected "repair" and it apparently successfully installed. I checked the Program FilesSQL Mobile folder and there was no "syncSQL" folder. I created a new web sync folder and the version of sqlcesa30dll added is 3.0.5223.0.
My laptop is running XP Professional and the server is Server 2003. Both are running SQL Server 2005 SP2. It looks like it hasn't installed the server tools correctly on the server, what am I doing wrong? I'm also getting a lot of sync errors and wonder if it has something to do with Compact/Mobile incompatibility.
Some extra information: when I install the SQL Compact Server Tools on my XP Pro computer, the installer window title says "Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition - English". When I run the same install file on Windows Server 2003 the window title is "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Mobile SP1 [ENU] Server Tools". It seems to install different versions of the software depending on the operating system. Could someone from Microsoft please confirm that this is the case, and advise how I can get the correct SQL Compact Server Tools for my server.
I've got a big problem reinstalling the just released VS2005 Tools:
I've installed them, but then I've deinstalled them to first deinstall RC1 and install the just released RTM/W(?) of the runtime.
But since then I was not able to reinstall the VS2005 Tools: The installer just says, that a required program for the upgradepatch is missing or another version is installed.
I've also tried to reinstall SP1 of VS 2005, with the same result.
BTW, I just wanna mention, that it is very complex to look through the new released Compact Edition releases. For example for the runtime it is required that the english release is installed before another localized release. But the localized releases are not called "Language Packs" (what they are) and do not verify that the english version is already installed. Also I'm interested what the recommended installation order is for installing on a developer computer eg. in German. First the VS2005 Tools or the SDK or the runtime?
I am having problems installing the SQL Server Compact Server Tools on my Vista laptop to allow me to connect my Mobile Device running SQL Server Compact directly to my SQL Server 2005 database through IIS.
I have done this successfully with an XP machine so I'm not sure if it is Vista problem or not.
I have installed SQL Server 2005 SP2. When I try to install the replication server tools (Sqlce30setupen.msi), in "System Configuration Check" window I get a failure on "SQL Server requirement" that says: "You must first install the Replication Components for SQL Server 2000 SP 3a or higher or the SQL Server 2005 Replication Components" and the client components are full instaled in my computer.
I am using SQL Express 2005 server and sql compact edition for my PDA. For synchronization, which SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition Server Tools installation package do I use?
Is it Sqlce30setupen.msi or sql2kensp4.msi or sql2kensp3a.msi? I know for sql server 2005 its Sqlce30setupen.msi. Is it the same for the SQL Express 2005?
I am having problems installing the Sql server compact 3.5 server tools beta 2 onto a Windows Vista 64 bit system. It keeps saying that either I don't have IIS installed, or I have IIS7 installed but don't have the "backward compatibility" components installed. Id so infact have IIS 7 installed, and I've installed all the IIS6 bits. There are no features named "backward compatibility", so I assumed the IIS6 bits were the right ones. Anyone get this to work? I thought I read somewhere that beta 2 doesn't support 64 bit yet - but now I can't find any mention of it.
The installation SQL 2008 R2 Management Tools on a Windows 7 workstation fails with the error, The specified account already exists.
Final result: SQL Server installation failed. To continue, investigate the reason for the failure, correct the problem, uninstall SQL Server, and then rerun SQL Server Setup.
I am running SQL Server 2005 x64 Enterprise under Windows 2003 x64 Enterprise. My current backup strategy uses T-SQL jobs run by SQL Agent (writes out *.bak files) and then I have an Integration Services job that copies the *.bak files to our NAS device. I have performed a restore without issue. The jobs are all automated every four hours via SQL Agent. Is this a sound strategy or are there additional benefits to using 3rd party tools? If so, what are the advantages and which tool provides them?
Login failed for user 'TOSHIBA-USERASPNET' I know that the file persmission for the web application have to include aspnet, so i keep resetting the folder permission for aspnet in file manager, but the login failed keeps coming back every day or two problem is after working with VS05 Pro, SQL Server Management Studio CTP, somehow the aspnet persmission get changed, use alot of sqldatasource wizards and often there is a conflict/hang between the datasource wizard and the need to have the mdf in a dettached state within VS server explorer, not sure but the procedure to fix this seems to be to reboot, detach and re-attach the mdf in the Sql server Studio tool, re-apply the aspnet file permission on the web app folders (wonder should i be doing this in IIS instead), make sure the mdf within server explorer is detached, the it works anyway, getting real tired of the resulting delays and design time derailment, clues greatly appreciated, thanks sometimes i can use View in Browser when in VS05 form view and i wont get the aspnet folder permission error and other times i do. last thing, is it a bad idea to give aspnet full permission for the entire web applicaiton??
Is there - apart from the notorious RESTORE HEADERONLY - an tool which is able to tell which SQL Server version created a specific BAK file? I'm looking for a tool that can be used w/o an available/running SQL Server installation.
Alternatively, is there any documentation about what is read with RESTORE HEADERONLY so I could write a tool myself?
Where would I find the version "bytes" in a BAK file?

we've got a SQL Server 2005 which replicates with an SQL Server Compact 3.5. Every 10 to 20 synchronisations we're getting the error mentioned above. A Soft reset of the device helps to make the synchronization working again.
Why is this error happening and how can we resolve this?
BTW, we've also running system that replicates with an SQL Server Compact 3.0 without having this problems.

Everything I read says RS for SQL 2000 is free. However, I cannot find anything except evaluation versions from MS. Is it no-longer free with SQL Server 2000?

Which download has the application whose shortcut is placed with the Management Studio? I installed it once, but the shortcut couldn't find the target.
This is a rather basic question as i've just started using the BI tools in SQL Server but have developed applications with SQL Server database engine before. I've upgraded from SQL Server express to SQL Server standard in my development environment but did not get the tools to upgrade... I therefore unstalled express and reinstalled but still didn't get BI Development Studio to install. Now when i try to install JUST BIDS, i'm told everything is installed and there nothing else to install...
How can i install BI Development Studio? I remember downloading an install specific to it but can't find that now. My SQL Server standard CD is not installing it either... what can i do?
Hi. I'm trying to make a web application let people publish documents from the internet. Now I've found a template source code let me upload file to SQL database (to an image field).
Here the problem is I can't find source code to download binary data from the database. Could anyone help me? (Or tell me where can I found the resources teach me how to do that.)
When i backup my database in msql , the server also backs up. How can i download it to my pc from the server ??? i am using SQL Server Management Studio Express
I have a zip file that is 418 MB in size that is downloadable from the CMS website [URL] .... at the bottom, where it says NPI Downloadable File. But, believe it or not, when it is downloaded, unlike the documentation I see everywhere that says it's about 2GB when unzipped, my computer consistently tells me it is an incomprehensible 6PB. I've never heard of anything like it.
See the screen print. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it. I've deleted the zip file and have attempted to download it again and again, always with the same result. Am I the only one getting this abnormal output?
What's a good way to download five SQL Server 2005 databases from production to my laptop for development work with Visual Studio?
Our application code is under source control, but to have a current development environment I must keep downloading these databases. Four databases are small, but one will need to be trimmed to about 10% of actual size to fit on my laptop's hard drive.
Looking at options in the Management Studio by right-clicking on each database, I see options to export the data, create a backup. Or, am I making this too hard and the easiest way would be to download some backups of the database created by the maintenance plan and use those to restore them on my laptop?
I was wondering if there was a free download for ssis? I downloaded the advanced toolkit for SQL and it doesn't have integrations services with it? Is there a separate download for this or does it have to be purchased?
I have Windows server 2003 SR2 and wich to install on it OLE DB Providers. I mainly have an application that needs OLE DB provider for Excel and Dbase to access read excel and dbase Files on disk. I have searched all over the web for a download link. I installed MDAC on the server and restarted bu still no luck. My ODBC applet in the control panel only shows the SQL native drivers.
PS: Windows is 64 bit. I believe this might be why. But what can I do in this situation?
