If applicable, what's the limit on concurrent queries supported by SQL Server 2005 Express? Also, if there's a limit, does next connection after the max errors out or merely queues up?

I have made a simple application with VB6 and SQL 2005 Express.
And after testing it in a network simulated with Virtual-Machine Workstation, the "real world" application was first getting slower and slower, and finally giving timeout errors.
It is even difficult to connect. The application times out always at 30 secs although the ado connection timeout was established longer (45)
I have checked on the machine where the server is installed, just in case the slow down was due to network problems, but it fail locally too.
Any help is wellcome
I have upsized some Access 2002 tables to Sql Server 2005 express. I put together a query and when I try to execute it, it tells me the MS Access is an earlier version prior to SQL server 2005 and it will not save the queries. When I try to run them anyway, I get the repeated message and the query never executes. I'm taking a T-SQL class and this is how the instructor. Is they a fix for SQL Server or Access to get around this or do I have to revert back to MDSE 2000?? Can MDSE 2000 and SQL Server be loaded onto the same machine (laptop)? Help!!!!! I am trying to create an un-attended SQL 2005 Express install. I have successfully made my own template.ini file to install SQL the way I like but I cannot find a way to make it install with the "Ad hox remote queries" option enabled.
Is there anyway to do this? I can't seem to find any switches in the INI file to allow this.

I'm trying to learn some VB programming with the VB 2005 Express Absolute Beginner Series video tutorials (which I think is great) and have come across a problem that I can't solve.
When I follow the instructions in Lesson 9 (Databinding Data to User Interface Controls) my application will display the data from the database correctly and I can edit it (and as long as the debugger is running the data remains changed). However, the changes won't propagate back to the database. I don't get any error messages but after I edit the data, save (with the save button on the BindingNavigator toolbar), and end debugging the data in my database remains unchanged. When I use a MessageBox to show how many rows where edited/updated in the
Me.myTableTableAdapter.Update(Me.myDatabaseDataSet.myTable)
I get the correct number back. I'm sure the problem is not due to coding errors since I've also tried running the accompanying Lesson 9 project file that can be downloaded from MSDN and the problem persists.
I'm using Windows XP SP2, SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and VB 2005 Express Edition. I've tried installing SQL Server 2005 Express with a number of different settings, including default settings, but it doesn't make any difference.
Would greatly appreciate any feedback on this as I'm keen to resolve this problem so I can get on with the next tutorial lesson.

I have a 2GHZ cpu with 1GB of RAM. I occassionally see very slow (long) queries against a local SQL Server 2005 Express (SP2) database. The issue occurs against different SQL Queries, but all queries are rather basic select statements Perfmon shows that the SQL Server counter for the "MEMORY GRANT QUEUE WAIT Avg MS" gets extremely high (25000+ ms). Perfmon also also shows that PAGING is not occuring, and the system is not under unsual stress. The problem is not reproducible with MSDE.
Has anyone seen this issue, or have any recommendations for a next course of action?

I've setup a parameterised query in PHP correctly and achieved the results I wanted from a basic view.
I then developed the application to use a Table-valued Function to be able to simplify the PHP code.

We are running SQL Server 2005 Ent Edition with SP2 on a Windows 2003 Ent. Server SP2 with Intel E6600 Dual core CPU and 4GB of RAM. We have an C# application which perform a large number of calculation that run in a loop. The application first load transactions that needs to be updated and then goes to each one of the rows, query another table get some values and update the transaction.
I have set a limit of 2GB of RAM for SQL server and when I run the application, it performs 5 records update (the process described above) per second. After roughly 10,000 records, the application slows down to about 1 record per second. I have tried to examine the activity monitor however I can't find anything that might indicate what's causing this.
I have read that there are some known issues with Hyper-Threaded CPUs however since my CPU is Dual-core, I do not know if the issue applies to those CPUs too and I have no one to disable one core in the bios.
The only thing that I have noticed is that if I change the Max Degree of Parallelism when the server slows down (I.e. From 0 to 1 and then back to 0), the server speeds up for another 10,000 records update and then slows down. Does anyone has an idea of what's causing it? What does the property change do that make the server speed up again?
If there is no solution for this problem, does anyone know if there is a stored procedure or anything else than can be used programmatically to speed up the server when it slows down? (This is not the optimal solution however I will use it as a workaround)
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I tried to do "Enabling CLR Integration" in my SQL Server Express: (1) If I clicked on "Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections", I got an error "An exception occurred in SMO while trying to manage a service, (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo) Additional information: Failed to retrieve data for this request. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoEnum) The operation could not be completed. (WinMgmt). (2) If I clicked on "Surface Area Configuration for Features, I got a different error "Computer localhost does not exist on the network, or the computer cannot be configured remotely. Verify that the remote computer has the required computer has the required Windows Management Instrumentation components and then try again. My Network Administrator has granted my terminal PC for Administrator Use. I tried to do the ADO.NET 2.0-VB 2005 programming in my terminal PC and I could not get a remote connection in the Window Form Application via Window Authorization. For the first time, I want to set up the configuration of my SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMSE) to allow me in doing the non-User-Instance/ADO.NET 2.0 programming from my VB 2005 Express. The SSMSE and VB 2005 Express are in my Windows XP Pro PC that is part of our NT 4 LAN System in our office. Everything was working fine. I have been able to connect using windows authentication. Then, I went into the ODBC manager to add a data source and it failed to connect so I went back into the Server management studio to modify users. After doing this I now get an error when I try to conenct the management studio to the SQL server.
I wasn't modifying the login for my windows account that I normally use, I was modifying a different one, however I now get the message "An error has occured while establishing a connection to the SQL server. This kind of problem can ocure because the default behavior of the server does not support all connection methods" blah blah.
Does anyone know how I can attach to the server? Or, do I need to somehow remove the server and create a new one? How would I do that?

In my office computer network system (LAN), my Windows XP Pro PC has SQL Server Express and VB 2005 Express installed and I was granted to have the Administrator priviledge to access SQL Server Express. I tried to create a SQLCLR project in my terminal PC.
1) I tried to set up a remote connection to SQL Server Express in the following way: SQL Server EXpress => SQL Server Surface Area Configuration. In the Surface Area Configuration for Service and Connection - local, I clicked on Remote Connection of Database Engine, SQLEXPRESS and I had a "dot" on "Local and remote connections" and "Using TCP/IP only". Then I clicked on "Apply" and "OK" buttons. Then I went to restart my database engine in SQL Server Management. When I went to check SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration, I saw the arrow is pointing to "Service", not to "Remote Connections"!!!??? Is it right/normal? Please comment on this matter and tell me how I can have "Remote Connecton" on after I selected it.

I've seen the following error posted when people try to connect to their server via their applications but didn't see anyone having problems when trying to connect with SQL Server Management Studio Express.
