I need to connect my Local Database from SQL Server to the Web Database.
I need to know what all things to be done for completing this process. Some one please please help me with this.
Ad if this information is not enough, please do ask me any question regarding this and iam ready to answer them.
One more thing, iam not that familiar with SQL Server 2000 but i can manage to do things.
- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition running on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition - Client Service for Netware installed. - Access 2000 database in a Novell Directory Services (NDS) Environment - SQL Server service running under local Administrator account.
Linked server configured as follow:
Linked server: MyDB Provider: Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider Product name: Access 2000 Data Source: UNC path to my Access database
Security: Admin with no password (default Access behaviour)
I can connect to my access database by following the next steps:
- Open Management studio on the SQL Server itself (where I'm logged in as Administrator) - Connect using Windows Authentication (Administrator) - Create a new query, run EXEC sp_tables_ex 'MyDB'
This will return all the tables from the Access database.
I can also make a view pointing to MyDB...MyTable.
Enough prove to me It can work....
So far so good
But now the tricky part.
When I login as 'sa', I can't connect and will receive the following message:
OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "MyDB" returned message "'Full UNC to my access database' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides.".Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_tables_ex, Line 41Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0" for linked server "MyDB".
(In real life I want to connect to my SQL 2005 Server from a ASP.NET (2.0) application using SQL authentication, but as long as I can't get the above working this is not important for now)
I am learning dotnet thru Microsoft Official Curriculum and I got stuck up at one point. That is I couldn't configure the required databases according to the sql server I have installed and configured. I created a doctors database and while configuring using the below code I couldn't know what is 'ASPNET' in "SELECT @s = @@servername + 'ASPNET'" Also what is 'webuser'
Hello, I have specified a default database in my web.config like this: <dataConfiguration defaultDatabase="scsLocal"/> <connectionStrings> <add name="scsLocal" connectionString="server=DRLSWARTEBRV;database=SCS;uid=******;password=******;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/> </connectionStrings> Now I would like to configure a SQLDataSource control to use this default database, yet it prompts me for a connectionstring. I know I can program it in the code behind file (if I ommit connection string, it will use the default), but then I can make no use of the wizard for configuring the SQLDataSource which would safe me a lot of coding. Is there a way to configure the SQLDataSource to use the default database that is specified in the web.config? Thanks! Veerle
Hello everyone, I have created my web application in VS 2005 using asp.net 2.0 and the built in sql .mdf database creater that comes with visual studio. After I developed my website, I then wanted to move it to one of our servers on the network, which I did without a problem. The website works fine but here is my challange. I need users to be able to connect to the database via login script and the script inserts computer data into the database. So I figured I need to attach the Database to SQL Server 2005. When I try to do this it gives me this database is in use. So I stop the website in IIS, and it allows me to add the database into the SQL Server. Once I do this, and start the website again, the website no longer works and I get a bunch of database errors, that do not get fixed untill I re-copy the website to the server. Is there a way to just connect to a .mdf file on the network that is not attached to a sql server, through a connection string in a login script? Maybe there is something else I need to do to the database before copying to the server? Or should I re-programm the website with a newly created database in SQL Server, and use that as the datasource?
I didn't know exactly which forum to post this in, so if I need to post it into another one, please let me know. Also, I have absolutely no SQL or DB experience. I am learning as I go.
The Situation: I created a virtual network for my company which included MS CRM, which uses SQL Server 2005. Everything was working fine until today. My company asked me to make a change to the domain name, as we are changing company names. I followed the processes through microsoft's documentation that I found online. The rename went fine. Since then, we can no longer access CRM. When I run the environment checks, it gets hung up on the SQL Server components. It says that it can't confirm the MSSQLSERVER service is running (it is) and it can't connect to the database. As best as I can tell, the database is looking for the old domain name, which doesn't exist. How do I edit or configure the existing database to reflect the new domain name. It's important to do this as we have data in that database that we need to access. Any help in this matter is very much appreciated!!!

I am trying to configure a connection manager for a database that is still using SQL Server 6.5 But it is not working properly. I put the server name, user name and pass word, I select the Native OLE DBMicrosoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server as my provider.
When I click Test Connection it says the connection is fine but then the drop down list for the list of databse names hows nothing!
I have been trying to configure SQL Server 2005 Report Services. Every time I create the ReportServer database, the systems asks me if I want to "update" the database. It allows me no other option. When I click "apply", I get the message that the database version does not match my installation version. Does anybody have any insight into what happening with the configuration? What's more, do you have a solution?
I have created profiles in my database as mentioned below. now i want to delete the profile created in database. can some one tell me how to proceed furthur.
i need to delete them permenantly. EXECUTE msdb.dbo.sysmail_add_account_sp @account_name = 'MyMailAccount', @description = 'Mail account for Database Mail', @email_address = 'makclaire@optonline.net', @display_name = 'MyAccount', @username='makclaire@optonline.net', @password='abc123', @mailserver_name = 'mail.optonline.net' ----------------------------------------------------- EXECUTE msdb.dbo.sysmail_add_profile_sp @profile_name = 'MyMailProfile', @description = 'Profile used for database mail' --------------------------------------------------------EXECUTE msdb.dbo.sysmail_add_profileaccount_sp @profile_name = 'MyMailProfile', @account_name = 'MyMailAccount', @sequence_number = 1
I am struggling with configuring SSB network routes to a mirror database. What I want to accomplish is to configure a SSB application to work in a database mirroring setup but I am not looking for a load balancing solution.
According to SQL Server 2005 Books Online (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms166090.aspx) the typical routing configuration for a service hosted by a mirrored database is set by specifying the 'mirror_address' field but leaving the 'broker_instance' field empty (i.e. NULL) in the sys.routes table (see Example 3 in link above). I haven't seen how this is possible because if you specify the MIRROR_ADDRESS parameter in the CREATE/ALTER ROUTE command then you must also specify the BROKER_INSTANCE parameter.
I haven't found a way to set the mirror_address field to a valid value and the broker_instance field as NULL, is this possible? If not I must set the broker_instance as the guid of my broker instance but my understanding is that it should primarily be used for load balancing configuration. My preference would be to not set the BROKER_INSTANCE parameter, is this possible?
We have been asked to look into using stored procedures with SQL Server 7.0 as a way to speed up a clients site. 99% of all the articles I have read along with all the books all say Stored Procedure should be used whenever possible as opposed to putting the SQL in your ASP script. However one of my colleagues has been speaking to Microsoft and they said that that they were surprised that our client wanted to use Stored Procedures as this was the old method of database access and that now he should really consider using COM objects for data access as itis much faster. Has anyone got any views on this or know of any good aticles regarding this matter ?
I have recently upgraded to SQL2014 on Win2012. The Access front end program works fine.
But, previously created Excel reports with built in MS Queries now fail with the above error for users with MS 2013. The queries still work for users still using MS 2007.
I also cannot create any new queries and get the same error message. If I log on as myself on the domain to another PC with 2007 installed it works fine, so I don't think it is anything to do with AD groups or permissions.
I developed a database with Access 2003 and everything was working good until my tech came in and reformated my hard drive and install a new Ghost image that met our company standards.
Now I cannot go in and make any changes to any of the tables, queries and forms. All of this started when a new Ghost image was installed on my pc.
The message I get when I try to open my database is "You do not have permission to run "tblSwitchboard." I get the same error message when I try to do anything at all on the database.
We have a SQL database that uses Active Directory with Windows Authentication. Can users that are members of the Active Directory group that has read/write access to the SQL database create ODBC connections to access the database directly and update the data? They dont have individual logins on the server. They are only members of the Active Directory group that has a login?
Dear All, i have a question abt winCE 4.2 and SQL server CE. i am using VB.net of Visual Studio 2005 My platform is using a PDA with winCE 4.2 and SQL server CE. The Host program is using dbf files on desktop side.
I got a problem of how to sync / read the sql CE data from a windows application.
so, i wanna ask,
1. any method to access the data from winCE data by windows application? or can i convert the sdf file to windows readable files? or any others?
2. Can i use a MDB to sync with SQL server CE? can i synchronize the mobile device which has a SQL Server CE database with the Access database on the desktop?
last question, 3. is that windows CE .net 4.2 not support pocket access (cdb) anymore?
I need detailed instructions on how to connect to a database from a Microsoft Access 2007 database to a Microsft Office Accounting 2007 database. The accounting database is an SQL 2005 datbase. It has an instance name of "MSSMLBIZ".
When I try I get an SQL error 53. Do not have permissions or database does not exist.
I'am doing functionality test on DTS packages and saving my DTS packages to meta data services instead of saving them as local packages. We would like to see what information would be provided by saving them this way, but when we try to open the meta data browser (the 3rd icon under DTS) we get the following error:
An error occurred while trying to access the database information. The msdb database could not be opened.
Hi I am wondering if anyone knows of a way of synchroniseing two versions of a database one in access and one in sql server so they can both run in parrallel in ssis for updates etc.
Also can anyone recommend a book which is easy to use or resources as I can't find what I am looking for in the online help.
I've used the ADS sample program and it works well. I looked at the code and changed it to VB (sorry, I'm not biligual yet), and have tried to 'adjust' it so I can connect to a remote PC (XP running IIS) instead of the local PC using the workgroup information database (system.mdw). Any ideas of the connection string that could make the connection?..my intention is to RDA once a week between a mobile device (3g/gsm) and a 'poor man's' IIS web server. I've tried everything I can think of, and I'm sure its possible since all I'm doing is changing the connection path.
I have a quick question regarding getting data from a SQL database but I am slightly confused as to the best way to handle it.
Basically on of the projects I am working on I need to send data to another company, there are several calls required to the database to bring back various options for changing the questions asked on the front end.
Up to now all that has happened is there has been a mutual agreement between myself and this other company and they have just had access to the database to call a series of stored procs which I have written for them to access the data. Recently however the situation has changed and my client wants me stop them accessing the database however they still need to recieve the information from the database they recieve now.
What will be the best way to handle this? My knowledge of SQL is farily limited presently and I am only ust getting into learning a lot more about it.
I have MS-Access as data source for one of the reports. I can preview the report fine from BI studio however, it does not work when I deploy it on report server.
The error is :
An error has occurred during report processing. Cannot create a connection to data source '<data source name>'.
The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file '<UNC location of the MS-Access database>'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.
MS-Access database is located on a different server.
Any help to solve this? I understand it has something to do with permission both on server where reporting service is running as well as the server where MS-access database is located. Pls help.
We have recently added 1GB Ram to our systems and now we are trying to optimally configure 2GB of RAM for SS6.5 SP4 and we are getting the fllowing error INFREQUENTLY
"Not enough memory for pss allocation"
We have to restart the SQL server/ (recover databases) to get out of this. Since it is a heavily loaded production environment you can imagine the impact!!.
There is a recommendation to reduce the memory or stack size parameters ref:Q160683!!
Question
1. I would like to know if anyone has got around a similar problem, and how. 2. As in NT Virtual Memory Manager AUTOMATICALLY brokers the allocation of physical memory between the requesting applications (e.g. sqlsrvr.exe) and the page file and no application can write directly to RAM, what does the memory parameter in SQL config control? Also then how is the above KB article relevant?
Hi all, I have a question regarding SQL caching. I want to use SQL caching for my pages.I've gone through http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/e3w8402y(VS.80).aspx article on msdn, where in step by step procedure is explained for this. But I have a slightly different situation. In the article, we need to configure our application from web.config by following... <!-- caching section group --><caching> <sqlCacheDependency enabled = "true" pollTime = "1000" > <databases> <add name="Northwind" connectionStringName="NorthwindConnectionString1" pollTime = "1000" /> </databases> </sqlCacheDependency></caching>
Where in "NorthwindConnectionString1" is the SQLdatasource connection string. But I'm not using SQLDatasource, and have my own classes to build a connection datasource and get a dataset, and then bind it to my control. So in this case what should I write for the above "connectionstring" attribute. My connection string is in web.config only with a section defined. and in my application i'm reading from web.fing only. The connection section i'm using is as follows... <ConnSettings> <add key="ConnString" value="server=serverName;database=dbName;uid=dbuser;Pwd=password"/> </ConnSettings> I want to know how to configure my sql cache in this situation.
Hi When I try to configure a SQL datasource and I use a Microsoft SQL Server datasource I get a blank drop down list for server name. My aspnetdb is available in SQL Server 2005 and I can log into it through management studio, and the service is started. I am also using Vista Ultimate. Is there any other configuration I need to do for Visual Studio 2008 to see the SQL Server instance? Thanks Kwis
Hi all, I want to configure my SQL mail. I am able to configure SQL mail when i run the SQLAgent and SQL Server services under domain account for which Mail box was created in MS Exchange server. Also it works fine. But i want to Configure SQL mail without using Domain account (dont want to run services under domain account due to security reasons).
Anybody know how to Configure SQL mail without using domain account or is it possible to configure like that? Your suggestions are highly appreciated. thanks in advance. regards..
I am fairly new to SSRS. I want to install SSRS on my local system which has OS of Win XP sp2 (not a server). I have installed SQL Server instance on this box. Can any body tell if i need Win Server 2000 or 2003 OS to install SSRS or can i use Win XP, if so please give some guidelines.
I new to SQL 2005 and have couple of questions regarding configuring the user. Let me start by saying what I need to be achieved.
1. Create a new user which will be user by couple of people to create and execute stored procedures 2. Deny all permissions for this user to access data from certain tables. 3. Configure the role and permissions for this user so that the above two is possible.
I was able to do the first two steps and when the users uses a query, ( select * from 'that table' ) the result in a permissions error. Also that user cannot view the table in SQL manager
The problem now is that that user can create a stored procedure that has the SQL statement Select * from 'that table' and execute the stored procedure to view the table.
The reason I created this user is to allow a team in the company to create stored procedures for Crystal. In theory he should be able to create stored procedures but not get any data from the denied tables. How can I achieve this?
I am trying to resolve this issue for a while now and any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi All,My question is that can I configure SQL MAIL, if my EXCHANGESERVER is on different domain and my SQL is running on differentdomain. Can anyone guide me for this because I googled a lotwithout any result.I am using SQL SERVER 2000 Enterprise Edition with service pack 3.and MICROSOFT EXCHANGE SERVER 2000.ThanksT.V
Can someone help? I am new to Visual basic programming and have down-loaded Visual Basic Express. I followed the instructions for creating my first database but when I got to making the SQL database I got the following error message. " Generating user instances in SQL server is disabled, use sp_configure "user instances enabled" to generate user instances" Where do I find sp_configure and how do I start it.
