Connection Error 10004
Mar 22, 2001
Dear All,
We are using SQL Server 6.5 SP5a & NT 4 SP5.
It is possible to access the server using ODBC
without problem.
But sometimes using ISQL or Enterpise Manager I get the
error (RPC?):
"10004 : Unable to connect: SQL Server is unavailable
or does exist"
It seems to happen at the same time as an
NT error message:
"No Windows NT Domain Controller is available for
domain QMC
(This event is expected and can be ignored
when booting with the 'No Net' Hardware profile).
The following error occurred.
The RPC server is unavailable."
NETLOGINEvent Id 5719
Any ideas (please)?
Andrew

Hi,I need some help. I am getting this error after I complete the asp.net register control and click on the continue button. It crashed when it tries to get it calls this Profile property((string)(this.GetPropertyValue("Address1")));When I look at the stack, it is coming from my ProfileWrapper class which adds user address, city, etc.. from a class which inherits fromSystem.Web.Profile.ProfileBase. From the stack, it is calling the System.Web.Profile and crashed when it tries to open a connection atSystem.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionPool.GetConnection(DbConnection owningObject). I already migrated all aspnet_user, aspnet_roles, etc.. and don't get any connection errors. It is only when I try to get the profile data. This works on my pc, but throws an error on my lunarpage website.Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks,AJAn error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. Hi,
I am working on SQL Server 2005 (x64) with Windows Server 2003 (x64) operating system. I am having a major issue in SSIS. Here is the detailed explanation of the issue :
I have an EXCEL file in 2003 / 2007 version. It contains some data. I want to import the data using SSIS into SQL Server 2005 (x64) database table. I have taken "EXCEL FILE SOURCE" and "SQL Server DESTINATION". It was failed on importing data. Surprisingly it works fine in SQL Server 2005 (x32). Can you please explain why it is NOT woking on (x64) ?
Here is the error code i am getting:
[Excel Source [1]] Error: The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0202009.
Appreciate your time and patience !!
Thanks

Hi All,
I am getting the following error if I am using the package "Transaction Option=Required" while running through Sql Job:
The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "<connection name>" failed with error code 0xC0202009.
while I running the SSIS package on BI environment, I am getting the following error:
[Connection manager "<connection name>"] Error: The SSIS Runtime has failed to enlist the OLE DB connection in a distributed transaction with error 0x8004D00A "Unable to enlist in the transaction.".
I know the alternative solution is to make the "Transaction Option=Supported", but in my case I have run the whole flow in a single transaction. I came to know that this has been fixed in the service pack1(ref. to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914375). FYI.. some time it was running successful.
I have taken all the necessary step to run the SSIS package in a distributed transaction(like the steps for MSDTC) and also created the package flow in a sequence.
I was going through the link - http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=160340&SiteID=1 but all those didn't solve my problem.
If anyone can help me it will be great. or it is a bug in SSIS?
Thanks.

Hello, I have a sql 2005 server, and I am a developer, with the database on my own machine. It alwayws works for me but after some minutes the other developer cant work in the application
He got this error
Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. [CLIENT: 192.168.1.140]
and When I see the log event after that error, it comes with another error.
SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x8009030c while establishing a connection with integrated security; the connection has been closed. [CLIENT: 192.168.1.140]
He has IIS5 and me too.
I created a user on the domain called ASPSYS with password, then in the IIS on anonymous authentication I put that user with that password, and it works, on both machines.
and in the connection string I have.
<add key="sqlconn" value="Data Source=ESTACION15;Initial Catalog=GescomDefinitiva;Integrated Security=SSPI; Trusted_Connection=true"/>
I go to the profiler, and I see that when he browses a page, the database is accesed with user ASPSYS, but when I browse a page, the database is accesed with user SElevalencia.
Thats strange.
The only way that the other developer can work again on the project is to restart the whole machine. He has windows xp profession, I have windows 2000.
If you want me to send logs please tellme

I've got a package which reads a text file into a table and updates another. I set up configurations so that I could import it into the SSIS store on both my dev and live servers. Now, I'm getting this error. I tried removing the configs and am still getting it.
I've been through each step and everything looks okay. Does anyone have any idea (a) what's wrong, (b) how to localise the error or (c) get any additional information? Or do I just have to recreate the package from scratch?

Hi Champs,
Scenario Configuration : VB.net 2005 Code, WebService for Executing SSIS on Server, SSIS deployed on the Database Server
Problem Description : We are developing windows applicaiton in which we call webservice which was deployed on the same server where SSIS packages are deployed.
Now from Code we are passing FilePath name in variable and execute the Package. But the SSis result says that
The file name "\computernamefol1fol2fol3fol4abc.txt" specified in the connection was not valid.
More Information:
1. Full Permission are given on this network folder.
2. Package executes successfully from SSIS development solution (BIS solution)
3. Deployed packed executes successfully from the Database Server.
4. From Development pc packege executes successfully.
5. Other packages deployed on the same server executed suucessfully with same configuration and scenario.
Only this package is not executing.
-- the only differece with this package with other is -
using ".txt" extension in Flat file connection and using VB Script task
Can any one suggest the appropirate solution for this problem...
Thanks

I have a web application developed in VS.NET 2005 [using C# as code behind]; and it uses SQL Server 2000 Enterprise edition as backend.
The application runs fine, though it gives an error on IRREGULAR intervals on SQL data requests.
Error Details:
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
My problem is this:
1) Why does it show an error of SQL 2005, while I use SQL 2000. SQL 2005 is not even installed on the server, though VS.NET 2005 is installed.
2) The error comes only at irregular intervals. Users are able to login properly otherwise.
3) Application starts working again if we do either of the following: (a) Restart IIS (b) Restart application pool (c) Restart server.
4) Named pipes and TCP/IP are added to the "Network Configuration" of the SQL server 2000.
5) Error does not come on any specific page; or any specific code; or at any specific time.
6) We do not have any background service or any other activity happening on the server; and the server hosts only this application, within a single virtual root.
Any thoughts on why is this happening, and how to resolve this?

shared server (understandibly).
I hope I gave enough info for help and not too much..

Got this error running a query with ssms2014
on SqlServer2014
but db has Compatibiliy level 100 (sql2008)
no sql error code in message and no error found in eventviewr (sqlserver log, windows log, application log ecc)when i run that query i got this message in "messages" tab, and in results tab i got a strange result, indeed the value returned doesn't exists in table.
ex table1.field1 possible values= 2,3
it returns 1113344
we got that error thru jdbc too...that query use a lot of joins, unfortunatley i can't post it here. today got this error, so i make a copy of 1 of involved table into another db in the same instance, re run the query on the original db, and it works well.

First off I understand that it is a horrible idea to run extremely large/long running reports, but sometimes it ends up being the best possible solution due to external forces.
I've got a 25,000 page report that we recently converted from crystal reports to SSRS. The SSRS server is a 64bit 2003 server with 32 gigs of ram running SSRS 2005. When running the report through the report manager web application, it renders in the browser/viewer after about 12 minutes. Exporting to pdf through the browser/viewer in the report manager takes an additional 55 minutes. It does work and it produces a whopping 1.03gb pdf.
Unfortunately, I've run into a problem when trying to do this from a console application using the SSRS client API. After about 30-35 minutes I get an exception on the client with the following error:
Exception Message: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive.
InnerException = Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
Here is the api call:
Code Snippet
byte[] m_data = reportingService.Render(this.ReportPath, this.ExportFormat, null,
deviceInfo, selectedParameters, null, null, out encoding, out m_mimeType,
out usedParameters, out warnings, out streamIds);
Here are some things I've tried so far:
set the HttpRuntime ExecutionTimeout value to 3 hours on the report server
disabled http keep alives on the report server
increased the script timeout on the report server
set the report to never time out on the server
set the report timeout to several hours on the client call
Disabled antivirus on the client side, and verified there was no antivirus running on the reporting server.
Tried using default credentials in the ReportingService object as opposed to supplying credentailsAny ideas would be appreciated. I understand the best solution is to split the report up into smaller reports, which is the backup option, but being able to keep it as one report is the goal.

I added a connection (ADO.NET) object by name testCon in the connection manager - I wanted to programmatically supply the connection string. So I used the "Expressions" property of the connection object and set the connectionstring to one DTS variable. The idea is to supply the connection string value to the variable - so that the connection object uses my connection string.
Then I added a "Backup Database Task" to my package with the name BkpTask. Now whenever I try to set the connection property of BkpTask to the testCon connection object, by typing testCon, it automatically gets cleared. I am not able to set the connection value.
Then after spending several hours I found that this is because I have customized the connection string in testCon. If I don't customize the connection string, I am able to enter the "testCon" value in the connection property of the BkpTask.
Is this an intrinsic issue?

Hi there,
I installed Visual Web Developer Express and SQL Server Express. I then installed the Time Tracker Starter Kit on my localhost. My instance of SQL Server Express is 'Express'. So I updated the root web.config file. I try out the app. by creating a new user and then get this error:
Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
I'm using a HTTP connection port 7080 (ie, http://localhost:7080/TimeTracker/), does that mean I have to update anything in the app?
I was told to update SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration - Remote Connections to Using both TCP/IP and named pipes. So I already did that and rebooted.
Any suggestions?

Hi all,I am not able to figure the reason for SQL connection error "{@"Login failed for user 'MyLocalComputerNameASPNET'." }My Connection String is sqlConnection_1 = new System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection("server=MyLocalComputerName;Initial Catalog=PMG;Integrated Security=SSPI;Trusted_Connection=yes"); I am using Windows Authentication for "SQL server" and switched it on in IIS. In IIS I have in "Directory Security", I have "Anonynomous Access" ON and "Integrated Windows Authentication" is ON. If I change the connection string to:sqlConnection_1 = new System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection("server=localhost;Initial Catalog=PMG;Integrated Security=SSPI;Trusted_Connection=yes");In such cases, it gives an error "SQL server not found or access denied". Any clues on the solution. Thanks for your help. RegardsShri
