I would like the change the connection so it takes it value from System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings("appStrConnection"), how can i do that??
i was able to succesfully configure my remote server over the internet and tried using express edition to connect to my remote server and everything when successful.
is there a way to copy that connection string used to connect to my remote server so as i wanted to create a project in vb using that connection string..
where can i find the connection string code used for my connection remotely ..
Every time I move my project from my computer to the testing server I have to change the connection string references in the aspx side and in my code behind. For the code behind I declared the SqlConnection string at the top of the code-behind page for both connection strings and comment out the one not in use. Obviously I then comment out the string not in use in the WebConfig as well. Being superlatively lazy I always look for the easiest and quickest way to do most anything - connection strings included. Having to comment out strings twice brought rise to the question of whether I can refer to the connection string in the web.config file from the code-behind page. I'm sure it can be done, and I did a good amount of hunting around, but I couldn't find any examples of code that would do that. Currently, as I said above, I have two connection strings declared at the top of my code-behind. Here's an example of one:Private sqlConn As New SqlConnection("Data Source=DATABASESERVER;Initial Catalog=DATABASE;User ID=USER;Password=PASSWORD") Then, I just use sqlConn as usual in my binding without having to "dim" it in every sub:sdaPersonnel = New SqlDataAdapter(strSqlPersonnel, sqlConn) Then there's the SqlConnections set up by the wizard on the aspx side:<asp:SqlDataSource ID="sqlDataSourcePayrollCompany" Runat="Server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:DATABASECONNECTIONSTRING %>" ...> And for the connection in the web.config:<add name="DATABASECONNECTIONSTRING" connectionString="Data Source=DATABASESERVER;Initial Catalog=DATABASE;User ID=USER;Password=PASSWORD" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> So, what would be the code in the code-behind page to refer to the connection string in the web.config file? Thanks!
"Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed."
so I tried doing the following
SqlClientPermission pSql = new SqlClientPermission(System.Security.Permissions.PermissionState.Unrestricted);
pSql.Assert();
and then I get this error
"Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.SecurityPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed."

When using a typed dataset in VS 2005 with SqlCe 3.1, it conitinues to make the param.dbtype for the GUID to be an 'object'. When as far as I can tell it needs to be a 'Guid' dbtype. So each time I modify the typed dataset I go in and manually change the various bugs and things work fine. My question is whether or not anyone knows a better work around for this after finding themselves in this situation.
I've attached a code sample of the erroneous designer code, and highlighted the line that should instead be set to DbType.Guid.
I have 2 data sources that have recently been updated from SQL Express to full versions of 2005. The connection strings have been changed, and the changes appear in the code, but the data source designer still shows the SQLExpress portion of the connection string. This seems to be fouling up SSIS packages that are using these data sources. Has anyone else encountered this? If so, what can I do to fix this issue?
Problem Description: The following error is popping up and not allowing opening or running any of the DTS packages. Connection objects are not available in DTS Designer.
"Error in the DLL" "Need to run the object to perform this operation"
We have reinstalled the MS SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition with Service pack 3 and MSO3031 hot fix. Still the issue continues. Operating System:Windows 2000
I added a connection (ADO.NET) object by name testCon in the connection manager - I wanted to programmatically supply the connection string. So I used the "Expressions" property of the connection object and set the connectionstring to one DTS variable. The idea is to supply the connection string value to the variable - so that the connection object uses my connection string.
Then I added a "Backup Database Task" to my package with the name BkpTask. Now whenever I try to set the connection property of BkpTask to the testCon connection object, by typing testCon, it automatically gets cleared. I am not able to set the connection value.
Then after spending several hours I found that this is because I have customized the connection string in testCon. If I don't customize the connection string, I am able to enter the "testCon" value in the connection property of the BkpTask.
64b SQL2005 EE and all clent tools installed on the same server. Im trying to create a new connection in DTS Designer but after succesful test of the connection it errors out with
The new connection manager couldnt be created. Additional info : Exeption from HRESULT 0xC0010014
Hi All, I am getting the following error if I am using the package "Transaction Option=Required" while running through Sql Job: The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "<connection name>" failed with error code 0xC0202009.
while I running the SSIS package on BI environment, I am getting the following error: [Connection manager "<connection name>"] Error: The SSIS Runtime has failed to enlist the OLE DB connection in a distributed transaction with error 0x8004D00A "Unable to enlist in the transaction.".
I know the alternative solution is to make the "Transaction Option=Supported", but in my case I have run the whole flow in a single transaction. I came to know that this has been fixed in the service pack1(ref. to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914375). FYI.. some time it was running successful.
I have taken all the necessary step to run the SSIS package in a distributed transaction(like the steps for MSDTC) and also created the package flow in a sequence.
I was going through the link - http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=160340&SiteID=1 but all those didn't solve my problem.
If anyone can help me it will be great. or it is a bug in SSIS?
While Creating a script task in Control Flow, I am getting "Package Validation Error". Here is the complete message:
Error at Validate File and Load Data: The task is configured to pre-compile the script, but binary code is not found. Please visit the IDE in Script Task Editor by clicking Design Script button to cause binary code to be generated. (Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.VsIntegration)
As mentioned in the message, I opened the script IDE and added the code I need. When I close the VSA IDE, package designer displays the same error message.
The worst part of whole story is that if I close the package designer and reopen it, I find that all the code I wrote in the script task has been deleted by the package designer. This is not at all acceptable as I saved the package the and still lost all my work. I did all the coding from scratch for that task.
Please respond if anyone faced similar problem.
Thanks in advance!
Anand

Hello, I have a sql 2005 server, and I am a developer, with the database on my own machine. It alwayws works for me but after some minutes the other developer cant work in the application
He got this error
Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. [CLIENT: 192.168.1.140]
and When I see the log event after that error, it comes with another error.
SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x8009030c while establishing a connection with integrated security; the connection has been closed. [CLIENT: 192.168.1.140]
He has IIS5 and me too.
I created a user on the domain called ASPSYS with password, then in the IIS on anonymous authentication I put that user with that password, and it works, on both machines.
I go to the profiler, and I see that when he browses a page, the database is accesed with user ASPSYS, but when I browse a page, the database is accesed with user SElevalencia.
Thats strange.
The only way that the other developer can work again on the project is to restart the whole machine. He has windows xp profession, I have windows 2000.

I am using sqljdbc41.jar to connect with MSSQL database, it is working fine on my local machine.Where as on the remote server, same class giving me error
Login failed for user '<domain><windows loginID>' My connection string is URL...
I am using sqljdbc41.jarĀ and on 64 bit processor , I am using following command which included path for sqljdbc_auth.dll java -Djava.library.path= C: sqljdbc_4.1enuauthx64 TestDao and error is Login failed for user '<domain><windows loginID>' why it is not picking up username passed in connection string. I have 2 machines, one is local and other is remote. on both machine I login using my domain, it is working absolutely fine on local then why the error is coming on remote machine.Both the machines are identical.
I have been trying to host my website on Go Daddy for about 3 weeks and I have cleared several problems but this one remains. I can get into the ASPNETDB database for doing logins , etc but I cant access my database called "PINEmgt". To try to understand where the problem is located,I built a very simple application without login controls and put on it one Detailform accessing a single line table "Signin". I continually get the error message I got with my real app :"The connection name 'PINEMgtConnectionString2' was not found in the applications configuration or the connection string is empty. " There is only one connection string in my app -'PINEMgtConnectionString2'. When I run the app locally on my machine it works. After I move everything to Go Daddy, I get the error message and the following dump"
Line 24: </Fields> Line 25: </aspetailsView> Line 26: <aspqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStringsINEMgtConnectionString2 %>" Line 27: InsertCommand="INSERT INTO Signup(first_name, last_name, email, customer_id) VALUES (,,,)" Line 28: SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [Signup]"></aspqlDataSource>
This is indeed the code from my single page app.
The dump is:
[InvalidOperationException: The connection name 'PINEMgtConnectionString2' was not found in the applications configuration or the connection string is empty.] System.Web.Compilation.ConnectionStringsExpressionBuilder.GetConnectionString(String connectionStringName) +3039085 ASP.default_aspx.__BuildControlSqlDataSource1() in d:hostinguck7scoutDefault.aspx:26 ASP.default_aspx.__BuildControlform1() in d:hostinguck7scoutDefault.aspx:10 ASP.default_aspx.__BuildControlTree(default_aspx __ctrl) in d:hostinguck7scoutDefault.aspx:1 ASP.default_aspx.FrameworkInitialize() in d:hostinguck7scoutDefault.aspx.vb:912306 System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequest(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) +40 System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequest() +86 System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestWithNoAssert(HttpContext context) +18 System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) +49 ASP.default_aspx.ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) +29 System.Web.CallHandlerExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute() +303 System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously) +64
After Googleing, asking Go Daddy for info (which they dont give) , etc for three weeks, I need serious mental help in the form of a solution of this problem. Your help with the problem or the name of a good mental health professional in eastern N.C. (maybe both) would be appreciated.
I have seen another thread with this same problem, but the problem seemed to be a typo. I am getting an error when I try to access the web site ..

I have a child package where the ConnectionString property of a Connection Manager is set by a Parent Package Variable Configuration. I set up a script task that brings up a message box with the value of the ConnectionString property right before the dataflow task.
MessageBox.Show(Dts.Connections["CPU_*"].ConnectionString.ToString());When I run the parent package, the message box shows that the connection string is changing with every iteration, but in the dataflow it always draws the data from the same source.
The connection manager is an ADO.Net type, RetainSameConnection is set to False, and I've been researching this for days.
(Update 2/23/2015): To make this stranger, when I look at the diagnostic logs, they tell me that when the new connections are being opened they are using the new connection strings.
This is the first time I have used SSIS, so please bear with the ignorance.
I have a super simple package that inserts x000's of rows into a temporary table. The data source is a file that the user will upload. I need to be able to tell the package what file to upload. I'm thinking the simplest thing would be to edit the connectionString property of the SourceConnectionFlatFile at runtime. Is this possible? What form should the file path be in (UNC, other)? And, are there any other considerations I should be aware of?
I am using SSIS 2005 on Windows 2003 server. Using Excel Source to dump the data for staging database. I am getting following error while I execute it through BI studio's execute button.
I have deployed my packages into Sql Server and I am using Configuration File. As my Data Source is Excel, I have changed the connection string during deployment with Server Path. But I am getting the following errors. Actually the File Exist in Path. May I know What is cause of the issue? Do I need to give any permission to execute the package.

HiI have a problem to search between two dates, if I use Convert(varchar(10),ContactCreateDate,105) in a single textbow and for a single search date it is okay, but when I use the Convert(varchar(10),ContactCreateDate,105) against two textboxes it did't function.Can anybody help me ?MY codeif (TBContactSearchDateStart.Text.Length > 0 && TBContactSearchDateEnd.Text.Length > 0) { strWhere += " AND Convert(varchar(10),ContactCreateDate,105) BETWEEN '%" + TBContactSearchDateStart.Text + "%' AND '%" + TBContactSearchDateEnd.Text + "%'";
I have a RPC which gives me multiple - single record rows like
Robert|K|Half|TX|1123823|1423904 -- This is one such record that i get in 1 Column
Now I need to split the above record into 6 Fields and populate in my local DB I know i could use any .NET Language and accomplish this. But Iam limited to using SSIS/T-SQL Proc's
I hope that I am just missing a step in the process somewhere. I have established a string variable called DatabaseServer and another called DatabaseName. In the OLE DB connectionstring expression I have the following:
My understanding is that changing the variable from SERVERA to SERVERB should repoint the connection. (Test to pre-production to production in my current promotion environment.) This should also take effect in any dataflow task using the database connection above right? When I try to repoint the server variable (and only the server variable) I am either a.)throwing errors saying the original connection cannot be found in the data flow task, or b.)the job appears to be processing fine, but the repoint did not take place and data is still flowing to the original server.
Can anyone offer suggestions as to what I am missing?
The properties values in the DB connection:
ConnectionManagerType is OLEDB
DataSourceID is blank
DelayValidation is False (Setting to true changes nothing in my test)
Expression for ConnectionString is (see above)
RetainSameConnection is False
SupportsDTCTTransactions is True (and appears to be unchangeable.)
I am working on SQL Server 2005 (x64) with Windows Server 2003 (x64) operating system. I am having a major issue in SSIS. Here is the detailed explanation of the issue :
I have an EXCEL file in 2003 / 2007 version. It contains some data. I want to import the data using SSIS into SQL Server 2005 (x64) database table. I have taken "EXCEL FILE SOURCE" and "SQL Server DESTINATION". It was failed on importing data. Surprisingly it works fine in SQL Server 2005 (x32). Can you please explain why it is NOT woking on (x64) ?
