Hi!
When I write:
'SELECT Amount FROM tTransaktion'
I get returnvalues such as '12000.0000'. Instead, I want it to return '12 000'.
The Amount column is of datatype money. Is this possible!?
Thanks!
have a SQL server table with a vairbale unitCost of type money and via a stored procedure I am trying to update it. Through asp I capture the value as a string and then ATTEMPT to convert it into a variable of type money before executing the stored procedure as follows.
SqlParameter parameterUnitCost= new SqlParameter("@unitCost", SqlDbType.Money,8);
parameterUnitCost.Value = unitCost;
myCommand.Parameters.Add(parameterUnitCost);
This gives me an input string error. On the other hand if I change that line to the following, the page works flawlessley:
SqlParameter parameterUnitCost= new SqlParameter("@unitCost", SqlDbType.Money,8);
parameterUnitCost.Value = 25.45;
myCommand.Parameters.Add(parameterUnitCost);
any thoughts???
hi,
i'm get some strange behaviour with the money and float type. with a calculator divide 70 by 47 and multiply by 40 (70 / 47 * 40) and you get 59.5744 (rounded to nearest 4 decimal places). now try this in query analyser with the 70 as a money type and the result as a float:
declare @price money
declare @result float
select @price = 70
select @result = @price / 47 * 40
Print 'result = ' + str(@result,18,4)
now this will print out 59.5720
am i missing something ?
Hi Experts,
I am extracting data from SQL Server 2005 to flat file destination. I am using SQL Command to specify the data selection query. One of my query uses Replicate function to derive a column value. When I execute this package it fails with the error "Data conversion failed. The data conversion for column "value" returned status value 4 and status text "Text was truncated or one or more characters had no match in the target code page".
The reason for the problem is that, it is taking the InputColumnWidth of the flat file destination as 8000 and I specified the OutputColumnWidth as 4.
If I change the OutputColumnWidth to 8000, it is working without any error but resulting in the column width of 8000.
I tried using DerivedColumn Transformation's Type cast and DataConversion Transformation but still I am getting the same error in the respective Transformation components.
Can anyone suggest how to solve this issue.
Hi...
I have problem with add money value from text box to SQL table
This is my statment
cmd.Parameters.Add("@minbid", Data.SqlDbType.SmallMoney)
cmd.Parameters.Add("@minIncrement", Data.SqlDbType.SmallMoney)
can any one help me
I have a text column in my database with values simular to the below
00000000-505
000000018500
0000000-4495
I need to convert them by removing all leading zeros, determining if the value is negative (-), and inserting the decimal points.
Example:
00000000-505 -> -$5.05
000000018500 -> $185.00
0000000-4495 -> -$44.95
How can I create a trigger to do this for me, when the data is imported; or should I make a stored procedure to run when when I import the data. This data is found in a text file that is imported to the table daily. Any suggestions and or help would be greatly appriciated.
I have a special need in a view for a money column to look like money and still be a money datatype. So I need it to look like $100.00 (prefered) or 100.00(can make work).
If I convert like this '$' + CONVERT (NVARCHAR(12), dbo.tblpayments.Amount, 1) it is now a nvarchar and will not work for me.
How can I cast so it is still money? by default the entries look like 100.0000.
They must remain a money datatype.
Query for transferring money from one account to another account in same table..so from one account money should be deducted and need to be add into another account.

How can I convert this string into the correct SmallDateTime type.

I am facing a problem while using SQL Server with VB application.Implicit conversion from datatype text to nvarchar is not allowed.Use the convert function to run this query.When i see the trace file, i see one stored procedure called but nolines of code get executed, and immediately after that the ROLLBACKTRANSACTION occurs and the applications fails.But to my surprise i am able to do the same thing on a differentmachine using the same application and the same database on the sameserver with the same user id.Can anyone explain the reason of occurance of this problem.I require this very urgently, so i will be oblized if anyone can comeup with a quick response.Kind Regards,Amit Kumar
View 5 Replies View RelatedHi Everyone,
Currently, we are facing a serious problem of conversion from Sql Query to Semantic Query and we are looking for any API or Component that handles this conversion process.
Requirement Details:
I'd like to tell the story happened which lead us to this requirement. We want to convert Shazam Reports (SRW) to Reporting Services (RDL) reports that support Report Builder (semantic queries). So, we planned to convert the SRW query structure into a SQL query structure and later to Semantic Query, which is recognized by the Report Builder.
In that process, we've successfully developed a parser component that parses the SRW's query structure into standard Sql query structure but now we struggling, as we don't know how to convert an sql query into semantic query.
We are running out of time and any information towards the solution is a great help to us.
Hope I'd get some positive reply from you.

I have a parameter value as shown below and this is dynamic and can grow
Example : 101-NY, 102-CA, 165-GA
116-NY, 258-NJ, 254-PA, 245-DC, 298-AL
How do I get the values in the below format
NY,CA,GA --- each state to be followed with comma and the next state
NY,NJ,PA,DC,AL --- each state to be followed with comma and the next state
correct query that will fetch only state names and not the numbers.

A while since I have posted a question, and this one is probably real easy.
I am trying to store numeric values from a php form in MSSQL 2000 database. However, the columns are set to float and if the value is 1.00, when entered into the table it is saved as 1
If I change the column type to money, the query fails, with an error message of conversion of datatype varchar to datatype money statement terminated.
anybody know what I need to do? do I need to do something in my query to specify that this is NOT varchar data?
Hi,
Basically the above is a very common requirement, please comment on my solution which I've arrived at by searching through the web; -
In summary I have used 3 SSIS components these are "Flat File Source", "Derived Column" and "SQL Server Destination".
1) File Connections Manager Editor
1.1) Within File Connections Manager Editor; -
Name the data type e.g. "INTERCHANGE_NET_APP_DATE_SRC"
and assign a type to the data type e.g. string[DT_STR]
1.2) Click on the Preview button to ensure the expected text is assigned to the expected data type.
2) Derived Column Transformation Editor
2.1) Assign Derived Column Name, e.g.
INTERCHANGE_NET_APP_DATE
2.2) Select <add as new column> within Derived Column.
2.3) Enter the conversion Expression, e.g. ; -
2.3.1)
(SUBSTRING(INTERCHANGE_NET_APP_DATE_SRC,8,2) + "/" + SUBSTRING(INTERCHANGE_NET_APP_DATE_SRC,5,2) + "/" + SUBSTRING(INTERCHANGE_NET_APP_DATE_SRC,1,4))
2.3.2)
Since the above conversion is such a common task I suggest that Service Pack 3 of SQL Server 2005 delivers the following functionality; -
STRINGTODATE ('YYYYMMDD',INTERCHANGE_NET_APP_DATE_SRC)
2.4) Select "database timestamp [DT_DBTIMESTAMP] " as Data Type.
2.5) Within the Mappings tab of the SQL Destination Editor have; -
Input Column as INTERCHANGE_NET_APP_DATE and
Destination Column as INTERCHANGE_NET_APP_DATE.
Please comment on the above, I will then pass on my suggestion to Microsoft.
Thanks in advance,
Kieran.
I have this query:
SELECT Trim(Left([Display Name],InStr([Display Name],",")-1))+Trim(Mid([Display Name],InStr([Display Name],",")+2,1)) AS UserName, dbo_Employee.[Display Name]
FROM dbo_Employee;
Works good in access, but when trying to put it un sql server, it comes up with errors.
I know mid is substring, I just don't know what trim and instr are in mssql.
Any ideas?
Have a simple question -
Will it be possible to convert a varchar data type column (having values that are numbers or null only) to a numeric data type column having the number values and the null values not being replaced by 0.
Col A Col A
(varchar) (int or numeric)
123 123
124 124
NULL 0 <expected blank>
125 125
I tried using CAST(Col A as int) and it converts the NULL to 0. Will
CAST(ISNULL(ColA,'') as int) work? The reason for this requirement is the value 0 will give different meaning to the data. Any insights will be appreciated.
i am trying to execute the following query but I am getting an error because the data types are different:
SELECT DISTINCT CurrentlyOnline.USERID, CurrentlyOnline.IPADDRESS, aspnet_Users.UserName
FROM CurrentlyOnline INNER JOIN
aspnet_Users ON CurrentlyOnline.USERID = aspnet_Users.UserId
Msg 8169, Level 16, State 2, Line 1Conversion failed when converting from a character string to uniqueidentifier.
In the CurrentlyOnline table the USERID field is defined as varchar (150)
In the aspnet_Users table the UserId field is defined as uniqueidentifier
Any ideas on how do make the query work?
Hi, I've created a SQL union query that grabs the top three values of a test and puts the results together on one line item by a recordnumber.
The only problem is, one value is generating the error: " Syntax error converting the varchar value '=' to a column of data type int."
This field is an operator field, so it will only display operator values ( <, >, = ). Everything seems to work BUT the union join on that column, which is a varchar data type. I need this union to work, and Im frustrated that I can't seem to figure out why I can't get the logic to work. Can someone take a look at this and help me with it?
The union query looks like this:
exec('select

Can anyone help? It looks right to me, I just can't figure out why the error keeps coming up =
Thank you!

I am trying to construct a query in Query Analyzer (with SQL Server 2000), but am getting an error regarding "implicit conversion."
Here is the query:
SELECT dbo.AUCTION.EbayNum, dbo.AUCTION.EndDate,
DATENAME([month], dbo.AUCTION.EndDate) + ' ' + DATENAME([year], dbo.AUCTION.EndDate) AS [PmtMonth],
dbo.LOT.Description, dbo.AUCTION.WinBid,
PaidStat = CASE dbo.AUCTION.PaidStatus
WHEN 0 THEN ''
ELSE 'PAID'
END,
PaidAmt = CASE dbo.AUCTION.PaidStatus
WHEN 0 THEN ''
ELSE dbo.AUCTION.WinBid
END
FROM dbo.AUCTION INNER JOIN
dbo.LOT ON dbo.AUCTION.LotNum = dbo.LOT.LotNum
WHERE (LEN(dbo.AUCTION.Winner) > 0)
The error occurs in the PaidAmt CASE statment:
"Implicit conversion from data type varchar to money is not allowed. Use the CONVERT function to run this query."
Why is there an implicit conversion going on? And how can I fix it? :mad:
Hi Friends,
Need ur help desperately. I am stuck with one of the queries which i had written in Oracle and need the same in SQL Server.Please have a look at the following query :
select * from r_tin_1099_info where instr(translate( nm_ctrl_cd , '~!@#$%^&*()_+}{":?><`-=]['''';/., ', '*******************************' ),'*') > 0;
Basically my purpose is to replace the values in column NM_CTRL_CD having wild card characters with '*' and then select this rows to display.
However i am not able to run the same query in SQL Server since TRANSLATE is not a built in func. I have tried a lot to replace it but could only one func : REPLACE . But the same will not replace any one of the above wild characters but will replace the entire pattern.Please note that it should be able replace even if one of the wild card characters are present in the string and not necessarily the entire pattern shown above.
please reply ASAP since i am working and need this query to fix a defect.
Thanks in advance.

I'm converting an ASP system from using msaccess to SQL Server as the db engine, and I'm stumped on the following query
update
timecard
set
TcdDate = #3/18/05#
TcdDate is defined as a date/time type
It will not run with the date bracketed by # signs, and when I take them out, 1/1/1900 is stored in the dbs. Is there a different symbol to bracket the date with or should I be using a function to convert the date?
Hi, I need help. Understatement of the year right now, too =
So... I've created a stored procedure that partially pulls a SQL union query to give me a complete one-line result set of a bunch of data... four separate selects comprise the query.
The tables are structured identically to each other, but the values being pulled are specific and distinct. All of the non-date values stored are varchar values in the tables, and yet when I execute the SQL union query, I get the error message: Syntax error converting the varchar value to a column of data type int.
I know SQL does implicit conversions, however Im not sure why it's trying to do that with this query, I suppose. it should have been straightforward.
Any suggestions? Here is the query logic to look at, in case I'm missing the obvious
exec('
SELECT ACCOUNT, LNAME, FNAME, SEX, DOB, cast(MA_ContentValue as decimal) as MA_ContentValue, cast(MA_DOS as smalldatetime) as MA_DOS,cast(LDL_ContentValue as decimal) as LDL_ContentValue, cast(LDL_DOS as smalldatetime) as LDL_DOS, cast(HgbA1C_ContentValue as decimal)as HgbA1C_ContentValue, HgbA1C_DOS, cast(Creatinine_ContentValue as decimal) as Creatinine_ContentValue, Creatinine_DOS

')
Anything else that I can provide for someone to help me? I appreciate any/all feedback!

Hi,I'm having some trouble with my asp.net page and my sql database. What I'm trying to do is allow the user to upload an number to the database, the number is a money amount like 2.00 (£2.00) or 20.00(£20.00). I've tried using money and smallmoney datatypes but the numbers usually end up looking like this in the database...I enter 2.00 and in the database it looks like 2.00000, and even if I enter the information directly into the database I get the same results. I'm not going to be using big numbers with lots of decimal places like this 1000,000,0000. Can anyone help me? All I want is to know what to set the value to on my aspx page and what setting to set the field to in my database, I'd just like two pound to appear as 2.00. any help would be great.
I'm using Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 if that helps.
Thanks.
Please i need to display the money column in DataBase in an asp.net page but i get something like this 786.0000 how can i format it so that i get something like 786.00

View 7 Replies View RelatedArgggg....Please help.I need to store money in SQL Server.I am using C# and a stored procedure to insert.How do you accomplish this? Specifically what datatype should the money variable be in C# during the insert? It's initial value is a string as it is entered from a text field.I have been trying for over an hour now to simply insert money into SQL Server using C# and have it stored as a money type!Thanks
