The database for our software stores dates and times in clarion format. I'm trying to write some custom reports in T-SQL and I need to convert these dates but it's giving me a lot of trouble. How do I query the dates and times and have the results shown as a "regular" date/time? Below is what I have so far which is really the very beginnings of this report. Basically on the results/output I need the ClarionDate and ClarionTime to be shown as typical date/time columns. I did some research on my own but I'm having a hard time grasping this. I believe they have to be pulled into a temp table and then converted?
SELECT A1.DATEOFACCESS ClarionDate, A1.TIMEOFACCESS ClarionTime, A2.NAME Event
FROM dbo.History A1
JOIN dbo.SysEvents A2
ON A1.RSVD_Action = A2.RSVD_EVENTTYPE

on a migration from access 97 to SQL Server 7.0 columns in access like 'hyperlink' are converted to datatype 'text' on the SQL Server 7.0. Now I miss the function in the access application I had before with fields like 'hyperlink'. Now I can't start e.g. a word document with a click and I have to type in the hyperlink manualy.
Does anyone had the same problem an possibly have a resolve?
Thanks.

Is there any way to convert an Access or SQL server 2005 database to SQL server 2005 compact edition database??
Thank you very much!!
I am in the process of testing an EMC Clarion install with our DataWarehouse. Performance is fast and consistent for queries using aclustered index but very poor for queries using non-clustered indexes.Performance on non-clustered indexes is very slow and inconsistentcompared to our current production environment using EMC Symmetrix.I eliminated the server and SQL install as the issue by testing thesame queries on local disk on the server with good results. I amrunning SQL2000 SP3. EMC has not helped yet. Any ideas?Thanks

I am currently in the process of writing an application to convert an Access database to SQL. Basically, I have created an odbc link in access and then I transfer the data from the access table to the linked table.
The problem is where I have to transfer the Identity keys. I can transfer all the data but the keys. They will auto increment. I tried using INSERT_IDENTITY tablename ON but it just returns an error mosty of the time. I have gotten it to transfer once or twice by stepping through.
Here is the basic code:
The code that causes everything to error is commented out.
Private Sub CopySQLRecordSet(ByVal stTableName As String, _
Optional ByVal blIdentity As Boolean = True, _
Optional ByVal stSearch As String = "")

Dim tbl As ADOX.Table
Set cat = New ADOX.Catalog
Set tbl = New ADOX.Table
Dim adoCommand As New ADODB.Command, stCommand As String
Dim adoSQLCommand As New ADODB.Command
Dim errorString As String
On Error GoTo ErrorCopying
PrgPart.Value = PrgPart.Value + 1
If blCancelPressed Then End '???fix later
cat.ActiveConnection = db1 'This doesn't seem to work with our normal settings for spectrumDbase
tbl.ParentCatalog = cat
tbl.Name = "dbo_" & stTableName
tbl.Properties("Temporary Table") = False
'possibly, this line will work for Oracle as well
tbl.Properties("Jet OLEDB:Link Provider String") = "odbc;DSN=

tbl.Properties("Jet OLEDB:Remote Table Name") = stTableName
tbl.Properties("Jet OLEDB:Create Link") = True
tbl.Properties("Jet OLEDB:Table Hidden In Access") = False
tbl.Properties("Jet OLEDB:Cache Link Name/Password") = False
cat.Tables.Append tbl
Suspend 1

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am being asked to convert this access query into sql server 2000.
Access query
SELECT Left(Trim([Notes_Primary_Key]),InStr(Trim([Notes_Primary_Key])," ")) AS PcnPID, Trim([Notes_Secondary_Key]) AS PcnTicketNum

I'm new to SQL and am not familiar with which function replaces the InStr access function.
I have an Access database that used to produce a mass of Performance Indicators from Access tables. The data is now held on SQL Server and I run the Access queries from the SQL tables. I wouldlike to move all the queries over to SQL but not sure if I can do that. Here's an example of one of the queries (the SQL view)
SELECT tblCalls.*
FROM tblCalls
WHERE (((tblCalls.Call_date)>=[Forms]![ReportParams]![SDate] And (tblCalls.Call_date)<=[Forms]![ReportParams]![EDate]) AND ((tblCalls.NotAccepted)=False) AND ((tblCalls.Completed_time) Is Not Null) AND ((tblCalls.Category)="fly tipping"));
SELECT Month([Call_date]) AS Mnth, DateSerial(Year([Call_date]),Int((Month([Call_date])-1)/3)*3+4,0) AS Qtr, Sum(Work_Days([Call_date],[Completed_time])) AS RespTime, Sum(1) AS Count, Sum(Work_Days([Call_date],[Completed_time]))/[Count] AS AvgTime
FROM qryFlyTippingStatsSummary1

First off, I apologise if this is classed as off topic as it's concerning access but I couldn't see another forum that was better suited for this question.
I'm trying to run this query in Access. I designed it in SQL Management Studio with a test database that I set up and it runs fine. However, when I tried to run it in access I get a syntax error on the subquery bit. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here?
