My client will be receiving a .dbf file which needs to be uploaded
into a sql server database table (as an append) every week. They are
NOT computer savvy and I would like to automate this process rather
than go into enterprise manager and run data transformation.
Is there any way to write a batch file or a set of command lines which
will do this?

SQL Server Compact 3.5 - I've a sdf file created in a .NET windows desktop command line program. How to now consume the data in MS Excel?
I can see that under

I've one DLL called
sqlceoledb35.dll
But I don't have any oledb driver listed when creating an UDL file?
How can I consume the data in other apps that are not .NET and developed in house them?

Can a batch file that resides on another server be executed from a different machine? I have a batch file that resides on a server that I would like to run using SQL 2005 Integration Services. Is there anything I can do that would allow me to remotely execute this batch file and have it run in that environment.
BATCH FILE:
cd C:Trandev
otrun -at OTRecogn.att -DINPUT_FILE=%1 -tl 1 -cs dv -lg mylog -I
C:Trandev represents the remote environment
I have tried mapping the remote machine to a network drive on my local machine and using that drive to execute the batch file in an Execute Process Task, but it does not work.
SSIS:
I have a FOR EACH loop grabbing files and writing fileName to a variable that is passed to the Process Task as an argument through an expression(%1 in the batch file above). The Working Directory is a mapped network drive. The Executable is also a network drive plus batch file name.
Any help would be appreciated.

Since mysqldump creates the file as raw sql file with thedatabase-table structures and the data in it, I thought using OSQL commandline utilities should work to out this whole database in MSSQL server.I have run this command from command line:osql -u sa -i mysqldump.sqlIt is going since yesterday. It has been almost 36 hours that it'sstarted. And in the mssql server, I see no database created yet. On thescreen of the command line, I see bunch of numbers are going in order. Iassume they are row numbers of the tables processed. But, if it is doing it,then where is it saving all this data ? I have checked the tempdb, pub db,other dbs, and I see no tables related to the database I am inserting. Willit populate it at the and of the job ? Or, am I doing something wrong here?Regards.Murtix.

I need to take a variable from a tabel in SQL Server pass to a Batch file and execute the batch file. Right now I can exec the batch file with XP_CMDSHELL but how can I pass the variable to the batch file and loop through all the variables.

Any easy way for a batch file or automated process to read from one db and table and what ever entry is missing out of another database + table it writes those missing entries to.
This is a simple table in one db that is filled with usernames, I want to see if there are missing usernames in another db and table and write those entries.

If jdoenew is missing in the 2nd db I will need to write entries like:

Now my idea is to do this on the command line/batch script. I have found different ways to do this job but the problem is i have to create a table in the database first. The entries in the first line of the csv file are the attribute names.
After creating the table with attributes i must write the data in the database.

I am running a SSIS package through a SQL 2005 job. The package has encrypted data used to access a FTP account. I changed the package's security protection level to "EncryptSensitiveWithPassword." I also added a password to the package. I then tried to add the password to the jobs command line, and it still failed. Does anyone have a suggestion? I think I may have built the command line wrong. Can I get an example?

I need to Install the SQL server 2008 express with Instance name and Sa password parameter in silent mode . I tried couple of command line arguments for this. but It didn't work, I got the setup failure error message
"The setting 'QB' specified is not recognized.Error code 0x84B40003."
Can any one help me with this?

What is the correct command line parameters to SQLEXPR32.exe that will default the Log On As: properties for the instance to use the Built-in account of Local System & Local Service?
I need it to be set to Local System immediately on install without having to go into the configuration manager. When I run the SQLEXPR32.exe right now I get the Network Service defaulted.

Microsoft confirmed that the error message "The command line parameters are invalid" issue mentioned above is a bug and has been resolved in the next "drop" of SQL Server 2005.
has this error been fixed by microsoft. Cos i still get this error!!!!!!!!!
I am also trying to run the package from command line and when i click on execute the package it runs half way and hangs. What could be the problem????.
But when i run it from my Studio and stored package it works fine!!!

I am using the following batch file to execute a script that creates a db and all its objects in the local sql express:
sqlcmd -S (local)SQLExpress -i C:CreateDB.sql
This works fine, but I'm wondering if there's an easy way to put the script in the batch file, so users don't have to worry about putting the script in the C drive. I tried getting rid of the i parameter and pasting the script from the sql file into the batch file, but it didn't work.

Our application installation setup needs to be able to detect:
Is SQL Server 2005 Express Installed?
If false, run the SP2 Installation
Is SQL Server 2005 Express or SQL Express SP1 Installed?
If false, run the SP2 Installation with Update Switch
Is SQL Server 2005 (not Express) Installed
If true, abort installation with a mesage.
Can you direct me to some documentation about testing for these environments or just if someone has some scripts that will run in InstallShield, that would be great.
ALSO, can you direct me to information about using the command line update switch for the Express SP2 Installer?

I'm trying to install SQL Express 2005 with Reporting Services using Install Shield 11.5. The command line parameters which i am using is:
/qn ADDLOCAL=SQL_Engine,SQL_Data_Files,RS_Server,RS_Web_Interface,Client_Components SECURITYMODE=SQL SAPWD=<password> DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=0 RSCONFIGURATION=Default RSSQLLOCAL=1 AUTOSTART=1
It installs the SQL Server and Reporting Services. It configures (creates Virtual Directories for report server and database) but it is not initializing the Report Server.
Having done the installation when i check the Report Server Status it was running and everything seems to be OK except it wasn't initialized.
Any idea??

Everything goes on fine until the SQL Server Database Sersvices configuring and a pop-up says the following:
SQL Server Setup could not validate the service accounts. Either the service accounts have not been
provided for all of the services being installed, or the specified username or password is incorrect. For
each service, specify a valid username, password, and domain, or specify a built-in system account.
I have no idea how to come over this.
Any help would be appreciated.
PS I don't know what AGTACCOUNT or AGTPASSWORD is, so maybe the error might be there. If not, anybody willing to explain to me what it is, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Im trying to reduce the amount of calls to the database.Im also trying just to update the fields which have changed so I cannot use Stored Procedures as that would mean writing way too many stored procedures for every permutation on every table in my database.So Ive decided to build sql commands and then execute them all with one call to the database. When I print the commandtext property of the sqlcommand to the page whilst debugging It shows something like insert into XXX (f1,f2) values (@v1,@v2). Is there any way to see the final sql string, with the @v1 variables replaced by the actual values in the parameters I have added to the sql command?Im building the commands by creating a new sqlCommand. Then I set the commandtext to "insert into XXX (f1,f2) values (@v1,@v2)". Then I Add Parameters to the sqlCommand. My Parameters count is showing the correct value.I want to be sure now that when I go to send these commands to the database as part of one long string that it will work.Thanks,C

Hi, and thanks for your help. I have created a simple batch that xcopy files from one directory to another shared directory (in another server). Here is the code:
xcopy c:OUT_TRANSIT E:BACKUP_CESWEB /y
the E:BACKUP_CESWEB is in another server where I mapped the BACKP_CESWEB folder and make it shared.
the location of the batch file is in c:code .
When I double click the batch, the files are moved into E:BACKUP_CESWEB But when I use the window 2000 schedule or try to run the batch code from within sql server analyser, I get no results.
Any idea how to solve this.
The bottom line is that I want to copy files from one server to another server.Thanks for your help
