I have just inherited an SQL database where images were stored in a table column using binary data type.I have decided to save the images in a filesystem and then just save the path in a databse column.
The problem is how i can retrieve all the images in the SQL db, export them to a folder in jpeg format.
I dont even know where to start. Can anyone please help?
Regards,
charles
Hi, I want to view the images that are stored in a sql database. I am using VS2005. When I open server explorer and drill down to the dbase tables and the click on the show table data option the table is displayed in a new window. when I open a table that stores images only a tag saying that the cell contains binary data is displayed. There doesn't seem to be any way to display the actual image and therefore edit the image. I can manipulate textual data directly in the database table...how do I edit graphics? Thanks!
What is the best way to store images in sql server and then retrieve them with stored proc's using vb.net/asp.net? There seems to be a lot of different opinions about just saving the img tag, the path, etc.
I need some tips regarding some performance issues and it would have been great if someone could provide me with the same. I'm into a project where we need to handle a lot of images dynamically. Images are delivered dynamically as per the users query. You can think of it something like an image search. The technologies used for this project are ASP.Net 2.0, C# and SQL Server 2000. I would like to know if the images should be stored in the database or as files itself. I did a couple of R&D on this and 90% of the places I found that it€™s better to store the images as files. As a final answer to this I thought I'll post this query in this forum. Irrespective of whether the images are stored in the database or as files, the following are some of the key features that I'm looking into (priority wise):
1. Performance - I would like to obtain the maximum performance. Images need to be delivered without
much delay.
2. Security of the data and images.
3. Easy backing up and restoration of the data and images.
It would have been great if someone could provide me with the right solution with supportive answers, so that I would be able to design the project accordingly.
I am having a problem with MMSQL BLOB with VB, Sorry to say I am new in Programming using VB 6 and MSSQL and I have never touch BLOB in my live.
I just wish anyone could give me any ideal, like, white pages, or manual on how do I insert BLOB data (Images) to MSSQL 2000 database using VB 6. I need to know exspecially the VB Code and the SQL Portion if you have a store procedure code for that it will be nice.
hi i have given you the ado.net code to retrive a image from the database. I have tried using linq and i am getting a error in Response.BinaryWrite(rs.image) in LINQ. so i have used the ado.net which i dont want to use. can you pls help me how to correct the error.it says cannot convert linq.binary data... thanks Protected Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim MyReader As SqlDataReaderDim MySqlConnection As SqlConnection Dim MySqlCommand As SqlCommandMySqlConnection = New SqlConnection("server=(local)SQLExpress;Integrated Security=SSPI;database=customs")MySqlCommand = New SqlCommand("select * from tbl_temp_importer_owner where TIN=555", MySqlConnection)
MySqlConnection.Open() MyReader = MySqlCommand.ExecuteReader()Do While (MyReader.Read()) Response.ContentType = MyReader.Item("PersonImageType")Response.BinaryWrite(MyReader.Item("PersonImage"))///Error come here in linq Loop MySqlConnection.Close()Response.Write("Person info successfully retrieved!")
I am trying to backup and restore a 20GB SQL database from a SQL Server 2012 to another SQL Server 2014, but I have come across the following issues:
1) The developers [against best practice] have stored multiple images in fields within the database as binary code.
This therefore exceeds the 65532 character limit in some fields, so even though the images do show [based upon the data saved within this field], I cannot find the data in the field beyond this 65532 limit, within SQL Server.
How can I export / locate this data after the 65532 character limit?
2) When I have attempted to restore the database I am getting this error message:
Restore of database 'zapkam' failed. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.RelationalEngineTa sks)
Additional information:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: RESTORE detected an error on page (1:1592996) in database "zapkam" as read from the backup set. (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoExtended)
I have managed to restore two other smaller databases using the same technique, but am wondering if it's an issue with the database itself.
3) I have uploaded this database to the new server using FileZilla FTP Client, but it has cut out, painfully at 80% + 90% on a couple of occasions.
Is there a better solution for uploading these big files that I could possibly use? For example, uploading table by table or similar...
First of all, this is not in reference to using SRS (SQL Reporting Services) to render a report and then use one of the extensions to render the complete report as a pdf, tiff, excel etc. We have an opportunity to render a list of claims and then embed the supporting docs for each of the claims within the report. We don't have an issue referencing jpg and gif images via URLs and then rendering them within the report after the grid information. We do have an issue rendering tiff images within the report.
You can insert an image object into SRS at design time and have it render and you can convert a complete report to a tiff image but I cannot find a way to be able to render a tiff image when running the report. All you get is the red "x".
My question is has anyone encountered the same issue and, if so, what did you do to resolve the issue?
CREATE PROCEDURE procCreateBasket @ShopperID int, @BasketID int OUTPUT AS INSERT INTO Basket(ShopperID) VALUES (@ShopperID) SELECT @BasketID = @@IDENTITYI don't want to use this as a stored procedure I want to convert it as a string an use in that way in my asp.net application how can I do that?
Hi i have the following method in my page, it works fine and everything, but i am trying to modify it so that it can take a stored procedure; protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) {SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["streamConnectionString"].ConnectionString);String sql = "SELECT userID, userName FROM users WHERE userName LIKE " + "'" + userName.Text + "%' OR organisation= " + "'" + OrganisationList.SelectedValue + "'"; conn.Open(); SqlCommand comm = new SqlCommand(sql, conn);SqlDataReader reader = comm.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior.CloseConnection); DataList1.DataSource = reader; DataList1.DataBind(); conn.Close(); }
My question is what should my stored procedure be, and also how will i now structure the above method.
I have a stored procedure called from ASP code, and when it is executed, the stored procedure takes in a date as an attribute.
But since the stored procedure call is really just a string in the code, it is taking in the value as a string. So in my stored procedure, I want to convert a string value to a date value.
I know its a weird request, but we have created an application with sql server but our client wants a version which can be put onto disk.
We decided to create the stored procedures into queries, would this be the best idea and if so does anyone know if there is a freeware software that can do this or will I have to painstakingly re-create the queries?
Msg 242, Level 16, State 3, Procedure sp_CalendarCreate, Line 45 The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value.
Can any one tell me the solution of that problem (at ur earliest)
I have a stored proc that is being executed from an OLE DB Source component in my Data Flow. Takes one input parm, has several variables declared within, a derived table which is used in a join and all within a try catch block with transaction handling. No updates, just returning data, works great, except now I have been asked to replace these stored procs with inline queries.
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[usp_Get_Test] ( @numberOfMonthsint ) AS BEGIN SET NOCOUNT ON set transaction isolation level read uncommitted
[Code] ....
The problems I have run into so far are...
SQL command text in OLE DB Source Editor does not like: - TRY/CATCH block - Will not let me use my input parm (@numberOfMonths int) - When I hard code in my input parm (select  @BeginDate = dateadd(MONTH, -1, GETDATE())) I can parse query and run the step but no results are returned. So I am let to assume that it does not like the @TESTY derived table.
The query here as a sample has had pivots removed as well, but research suggests this should be an issue in the SQL command text.
Also, I know not even to try the Build Query... cause it will complain about any variable declarations (i.e., declare @BeginDate datetime).
For instance, can I pull this off with an Execute SQL Task? The problem is I don't see this available in the toolbox for the Data Flow.Â
Also, would my error handling be done in the Event Handlers tab now and if so, is there a good example of this?
Code: USE [byrndb] GO /****** Object: StoredProcedure [dbo].[sp_GetLikeJobsByJobNumber] Script Date: 08/28/2012 15:17:28 ******/ SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
[Code] ....
Why when I run
Code: USE [byrndb] GO DECLARE@return_value int EXEC@return_value = [dbo].[sp_GetLikeJobsByJobNumber] @number = N'23913' SELECT'Return Value' = @return_value GO
Am I getting an "Msg 8114, Level 16, State 5, Procedure sp_GetLikeJobsByJobNumber, Line 16
Error converting data type varchar to numeric." error? Line 16 is "@number varchar = null"
i have migrated a DTS package wherein it consists of SQL task.
this has been migrated succesfully. but when i execute the package, i am getting the error with Excute SQL task which consists of Store Procedure excution.
But the SP can executed in the client server. can any body help in this regard.
I am trying to create a page that adds users to a MS SQL database. In doing so, I have run into a couple errors that I can't seem to get past. I am hoping that I could get some assistance with them.
Error from SQL Debug: --- Server: Msg 295, Level 16, State 3, Procedure AdminAddUser, Line 65 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Syntax error converting character string to smalldatetime data type. ---

Below is what I currently have for my stored procedure and the pertinent code from the page itself.
I have a table structure like this EmpID LastName FirstName Emp_Picture 100| x |T |<BINARY> 200| W |W |<BINARY> .. .. ETC This table has 935 rows in it with Emp_Picture Blank.
How to insert the jpeg files into the Emp_Picture Column?? Do we have run the update statement for each and every employee or is there a way to get around this problem..
Hi, Maybe someone knows how to get images in a SQL table? I know that there is an image datatype, but how to use it? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!!
I have a report that i've created that has a picture of the image followed by details relating to the image.
What i'm trying to do if possible is for the user to click on the image and for it to open a new window with the full sized image and then close that image and click on a image relating to another image so they could see that full sized.
Is this possible in Reporting Services? or is there a way in which i could do a similar thing?
Hi, can someone help me with this problem. I have recently downloaded VWD and have been playing around with it a bit. I was windering how do I add an image file to a SQL database. I have used SQL in the past but I have never store an image in it. I can add text data and so forth, but I need some pointers into adding images to the sql database. I want to be able to store the images and then retrieve them to a GridView. I have the images in an image folder within the website, but I do not know how to input the reference or link to the images in an sql table. A quick example, say I have a table called Images, with the following info:imgID (int)imgDesc (varchar(max)imgFile (img)imgTitle (varchar(20)) To input this in sql I would write Insert Into Images (imgDesc, imgFile, imgTitle) Values ("Large fishy", "", "The Big Fish") what would I need to put for imgFile? I would really appreciate if someone can point me in the right direction.
I am trying export images from my SQL server but keep getting the same error: Error 0xc0208030: Data Flow Task: The data type for "input column "image_full" (105)" is DT_IMAGE, which is not supported. Use DT_TEXT or DT_NTEXT instead and convert the data from, or to, DT_IMAGE using the data conversion component. (SQL Server Import and Export Wizard) I want to be able to save them locally. The data type is IMAGE. What is the best and easiest way to do this? What format should I be exporting to? Has anyone ever had this problem? Please let me know if you have any help or can point me in the right direction. Thanks, Josh
