Hi
At home i have sqlserver and at work we have sqlserver
At home i have make some views i also would like to use
on the server at work
To day i try to use import from my server to the server at work
but when i import my views the views become a table on the server at work
Is there a way to copy/import the views on from my server at home to the server at work
On my work can i connect to my server at home, so this is not the problem.
Or shall i make new views on the server at work??

In SQL 2005 - when I display the results of a View and Copy all rows and columns, the resulting Paste in Excel does not include the column names.
How can I set SQL 2005 so the names of the columns will come along with the content of the copy function?
Background:
When I am using a SQL Query (instead of a view) I have the ability to control whether or not I am able to Include the Column Headers when copying or saving results. The control exists in the Options > Query Results > Results to Grid > Include column headings etc.
My question is how to get this same ability when attempting to copy the results of a VIEW vs. a Query.

I am looking for an example of a store procedure that will run a existing view and copy the results to a table. Every time it runs the table needs to be truncated. Will run once a day.
My view is a follows
SELECT PClass
FROM mydatabase.dbo.ProductClassDes
WHERE (ProductClass <> '_RBS') AND (ProductClass <> '_EDT') AND (ProductClass <> '_BMS') AND (ProductClass <> '_PAZ') AND (ProductClass <> '_PBC')
View results need to be copied to a table tblCurrentProductClasses that will only contain one field PClass.

When I am using a SQL Query I have an ability to control whether or not I am able to Include the Column Headers when copying or saving results.
The control exists in the Options > Query Results > Results to Grid > Include column headings etc.
My question is how to get this same ability when attempting to copy the results of a VIEW vs. a Query.
The idea is that when I setup a view it€™s a drag/drop type of query building (query building for dummies if you will). Once I have a view and click the Execute icon it will return all the records selected by the View. However, when I click the upper left/top box to select all rows and column and then try to copy/paste the records into Excel all the data copies just fine but the field name/column headers are not there.
How can I get the header fieldname date to copy/paste from View result set that I'm able to copy from a Query result set?

I work on a copy of SQL Server Express on my desktop. After modifying and creating views and user defined functions, I would like to copy and paste them into the working database. Is there a method programmatically of doing this or must I copy and paste the t-sql language from the existing view to the new database--then save the new view on the working database?

I set up DB mirror between a primary (SQL1) and a mirror (SQL2); no witness. I have a problem when I issue command:
alter database DBmirrorTest
Set Partner = N'TCP://SQL2.mycom.com:5022';
go
The error message is:
The remote copy of database "DBmirrorTest" has not been rolled forward to a point in time that is encompassed in the local copy of the database log.
I have the steps below prior to the command. (Note that both servers' service accounts use the same domain account. The domain account I login to do db mirror setup is a member of the local admin group.)
1. backup database DBmirrorTest on SQL1
2. backup database log
3. copy db and log backup files to SQL2
4. restore db with norecovery
5. restore log with norecovery
6. create endpoints on both SQL1 and SQL2
CREATE ENDPOINT [Mirroring]
STATE=STARTED
AS TCP (LISTENER_PORT = 5022, LISTENER_IP = ALL)
FOR DATA_MIRRORING (ROLE = PARTNER)
7. enable mirror on mirror server SQL2

Hi!
I did:
alter database mydb set single_user with rollback immediate;
exec sp_detach_db @dbname='mydb', @keepfulltextindexfile='true';
then I tried to copy files to new location on other drives, same server but got
>>Cannot copy <myfile>: Access is denied
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use<<
I also tried rename of file without success.
I also tried with db service stoppet (not preferred) without success.
How to find out, which process locks the files?

if i have a given database (a model) and i want to copy this database in the same database instance. Is it ok to copy the mdf and ldf file and attach the files with a new database name in the same instance.
Or is the datebase name part of the .mdf file?

I am attempting to use the copy wizard to copy databases from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008 R2 w/ FP1.
The copy fails with a login failure to SQL Server 2005. I have a user id & password under Windows for both servers. I have a user id and password under SQL security with the called for admin security rights.
The 2005 server has two instances, 20 databases, two dozen maintenance plans, and over a hundred users. I really would like to use the utility so I don't have to recreate everything manually.

Hi guys 'n gals,
I created a query, which makes use of a temp table, and I need the results to be displayed in a View. Unfortunately, Views do not support temp tables, as far as I know, so I put my code in a stored procedure, with the hope I could call it from a View....
I tried:
CREATE VIEW [qryMyView]
AS
EXEC pr_MyProc
and unfortunately, it does not let this run.
Anybody able to help me out please?

- SQL Server's resource usage : when running memory based bulk copy, server resource's influence
- server side action(behavior) : when server is busy, delayed-update means IRowsetFastLoad::Commit(true) method can insert right after?
- row-count : The rowcount limitation can be inserted by IRowsetFastLoad::InsertRow() method before IRowsetFastLoad::Commit

I compared view query plan with query plan if I run the same statementfrom view definition and get different results. View plan is moreexpensive and runs longer. View contains 4 inner joins, statisticsupdated for all tables. Any ideas?

I had given one of our developers create view permissions, but he wants to also modify views that are not owned by him, they are owned by dbo.
I ran a profiler trace and determined that when he tries to modify a view using query designer in SQLem or right clicks in SQLem on the view and goes to properties, it is performing a ALTER VIEW. It does the same for dbo in a trace (an ALTER View). He gets a call failed and a permission error that he doesn't have create view permissions, object is owned by dbo, using both methods.
If it is doing an alter view how can I set permissions for that and why does it give a create view error when its really doing an alter view? Very confusing.

I have this view in SQL server:

When ever I open using SQL Entreprise manager to edit it by adding or removing a field i inserts Expr1,2.. and I don t want that. The result I get is:
SELECT dbo.Lk_Feat.Descr AS Expr1, dbo.Lk_Feat.Price AS Expr2, dbo.Lk_Feat.Code AS Expr3, dbo.SubFeat.SubNmbr AS Expr4
FROM dbo.Lk_Feat INNER JOIN

I don t want Entreprise manager to generate the Expr fields since I use the real fields in my application.

1. What is the limitation count of IRowsetFastLoad::InsertRow() method before IRowsetFastLoad::Commit(true)?
For example, how much insert row at below sample?(the max value of nCount)

Hello I am a software developer with minimal SQL server administration skills. Currently I am using SQL Server 2000.I need to know if there is a way to copy a particular table from a database, and to copy the table into a different database.Basically on a project I am working on we are using a table named "Customers" from a database named QTR. A colleague of mine has a view that returns approx 100000 rows in about 60 seconds.
He wants to use the data returned from that view in an OLE DB Source component.
When he selects the view from the drop-down list of available tables then SSIS seems to hang without any data being returned (he waited for about 15 mins).
He then changed the OLE DB Source component to use a SQL statement and the SQL statement was: SELECT * FROM <viewname>
In this instance all the data was returned in approx 60 seconds (as expected).
This makes no sense. One would think that selecting a view from the drop-down and doing a SELECT *... from that view would be exactly the same. Evidently that isn't the case.
Can anyone explain why?

I have just used DTS to create a new Database on another server. The problem is that DTS does not create all the objects. At least as far as I can tell, diagrams, full text indexes and catalogs were not created in the new database. Is there anything else that does not get created? Is there a way to create all these objects?

I'm trying to provide our developers a tool to copy databases down to the dev server and DTS transfer objects doesn't copy the primary and foreign key constraints. Is there a fix for this, or do you have a better method? I've thought about using backup / restore but would have to write a program to accomplish this.

I am running SQL Server Management Studio Express 2005. I am trying to bulk copy the contents of a csv file into a table. I've opened the command window and typed in the following:

SQLServer Management Studio Express is installed on my local PC for development. Does bcp work with Express?
I checked the server properties and "allow remote connections to this server" is checked.

As a noob please forgive me if I'm posting this in the wrong place.
I have two SQL2000 servers. There is a table on server A that gets updated with new rows automatically by an overnight DTS job.
A little later, a job runs on server B to pull the updated copy across to be used by another application. If the table on server A gets emptied for some reason, I'd like to not copy it across so there is some data on Server B, albeit one day out.
What I'd like is some form of checkpoint that says:
If the table on Server A is empty, don't copy the contents to Server B (as this will result in an empty table on Server B thus killing two apps.)
I've thought of doing a count of Server A.table and if it is zero then halt. Am I in tree/barking/wrong territory?
