May 5, 2008I have a query that is spliting up FullName into FistName and LastName columns. Need help writing a query that dump that output into a new table.

I'm trying to figure out how to output a query as text instead of a tempory table...
I thought perhaps i could use this:
SELECT PRINT CustomerID FROM ORDER_TABLE
But that doesn't work
PRINT CustomerID FROM ORDER_TABLE
Doesn't work either...
I need this so i can print a customised invoice in SQL. That is, unless their is a better way of tackling this problem?

Rearraigning Table Data In Query Output.
Apr 18, 2008I am creating queries and reports in an Access front end (let the groans begin)...it is what they gave me to work with!
This particular query is pulling information from several different tables and manipulating it the way I want. However, there is one table that I am trying to pull info from that has the data arranged differently than all the others.
e.g.:
Name Drive Capacity Free_Space
Computer A C 40 10
Computer A D 200 175
Computer B C 80 55
Computer B D 500 445
Computer B E 500 365
I want that to look like:
Computer A C 40 10 D 200 10
Computer B C 80 55 D 500 445 E 500 365
I would prefer to do this within the existing query, without creating a new (permanent) table because the info needs to be real-time.
Any ideas/tips/leads?

Number Of ROWS Of Output Of Aggregate Transformation Sometimes Doesn't Match The Output From T-SQL Query
Dec 25, 2006While using Aggregate Transformation to group one column,the rows of output sometimes larger than the rows returned by a T-SQL statement via SSMS.
For example,the output of the Aggregate Transformation may be 960216 ,but the
'Select Count(Orderid) From ... Group By ***' T-SQL Statement returns 96018*.
I'm sure the Group By of the Aggregate Transformation is right!
But ,when I set the "keyscale" property of the transformation,the results match!
In my opinion,the "keyscale" property will jsut affects the performance of the transformaiton,but not the result of the transformation.

Output And Error Output Write The Same Table At The Same Time, Stall The Process.

I have Lookup task to determine if source data should be updated to or insert to the customer table. After Lookup task, the Error Output pipeline will redirect to insert new data to the table and the Output pipeline will update customer table. But these two tasks will be processing at the same time which causes stall on the process. Never end.....
The job is similiart to what Slow Changing Dimention does but it won't update the table at the same time.
What can I do to avoid such situation?

Create Table From Query Results
Jul 10, 2007Hi everybody need help on the possibility creating a new table from the results of a view or query? below is my table named table1
ID col1 col2
1 a a
2 b d
3 c f
this would be my new table named table2
ID col1 col2 col3
1 a a aa
2 b d bd
3 c f cf
this new table has an additional column by concatenating col1+col2
tried this procedure but is not working
CREATE TABLE AS (SELECT ID, COL1, COL2, COL1+COL2) TABLE2

Jan 30, 2015I'm trying to write a function that will retrieve the last backup date/time of a particular database on a remote server (i.e. by querying msdb.dbo.backupset). Unfortunately, you can't use sp_executesql in a function, so I can't figure out a way to pass the server name to the query and still be able to return the datetime value back to the calling TSQL code (so that rules out using EXEC().

The problems I am having are with the integer data being used to create temp table fields. The bracketed numbers on line 7-10 give me an invalid column name error each. In the 'FOR', I get another error "Incorrect syntax near 'FOR'. Expecting '(', or '.'.". The first integer in the "IN" gives me an "Incorrect syntax near '[4981]'. Expecting '(' or SELECT". I will post the definitions from another effort below.

Apr 29, 2015I want to create index for hash table (#TEMPJOIN2) to reduce the update query run time. But I am getting "Warning!
The maximum key length is 900 bytes. The index 'R5IDX_TMP' has maximum length of 1013 bytes. For some combination of large values, the insert/update operation will fail". What is the right way to create index on temporary table.
Update query is running(without index) for 6 hours 30 minutes. My aim to reduce the run time by creating index.
And also I am not sure, whether creating index in more columns will create issue or not.

I want to be able to read the file and create new excel files for each Agent listed. So for Example, the above file would create 3 separate files since there are 3 different Agents listed. Each Agent file would contain the same information from the original file. The name of the file would be somethign like AgentName.xls...So the SAN group file would have this:

When To Create Columns And Metadata For Custom Asynchronous Component Output
Apr 17, 2006I'm having a tad bit of trouble getting output from an asynchronous component that I've written and am looking for some insight.
This component takes in a name string passed from upstream and parses the name components into standardized output fields. I'm using an asynchronous component because if the name string contains two names ("Fred & Wilma Flintstone") I'm outputting one row for Fred and one for Wilma. I've gotten it to run and with debugging have observed what appeared to me to be proper execution, but zero rows are flowing out of it.
In my ProvideComponentProperties method, I add the three fields and there associated metadata to the OutputColumnCollection. Is this method where this should occur? It's before the PrimeOutput method, so I didn't know if I should be creating the output columns in ProcessInput (i.e., after the output buffer is provided by PrimeOutput.)
In ProcessInput, I'm using AddRow for each input row and another if it contains a second name, setting the value for each index using the buffer's SetString method, to no avail. I can observe it to this point, but then don't know what's in that output buffer (if I'm using the wrong buffer index value, etc)

Create Output Columns Based On Input In Custom Component

I'm trying to create a fairly simple custom transform component (because I've read that's the easiest one to create) which will take one column from a flat file source and based on the first row create the output columns.
I'm actually trying to write a component that will solve the now well known problem with parsing CSV files in SSIS. I have a lot of source files and all have many columns so a component that can read in the first line from the CSV file and create the output columns automatically will save me lots of time when migrating the old DTS packages.
I have the basic component set up but I'm stuck when trying to override the OnInputPathAttached method because I don't know how to use the inputID to get the first line from the input (the buffer).
Are there any good examples for creating output columns dynamically based on the input buffer?
Should I just give up on on the transform and create a custom source component instead?

Now - a condition related to an contract can have many re-trys and the causes the pk to increment. As you can see there are three conditions related to first attempt and then another three conditions.I want to create an ouput which just reflects the latest conditions when joining back to contract - Is this possible?I have requested to application providers to provide flag, but this will take some time...
Create Output File In A Specific Layout - Extra Spaces Between Fields

For some reason my output file is adding an extra 10 spaces between the Account Number and the Check Number in the statement below. The rest of the output file looks fine. Where the extra 10 spaces are coming from? I need 1 Filler Space between these fields.
