Can someone give me a clue on this. I'm trying to insert values based off of values in another table.
I'm comparing wether two id's (non keys in the db) are the same in two fields (that is the where statement. Based on that I'm inserting into the Results table in the PledgeLastYr collumn a 'Y' (thats what I want to do -- to indicate that they have pledged over the last year).
Two questions
1. As this is set up right now I'm getting NULL values inserted into the PledgeLastYr collumn. I'm sure this is a stupid syntax problem that i'm overlooking but if someone can give me a hint that would be great.
2. How would I go about writing an If / Else statement in T-SQL so that I can have the Insert statement for both the Yes they have pledged and No they have not pledged all in one stored proc. I'm not to familar with the syntax of writing conditional statements within T-SQL as of yet, and if someone can give me some hints on how to do that it would be greatly appriciated.

I am trying to write an visibility function to have message shown based on two different IIF conditions:
If behavior is to Add a customer ( if message =NAME ALREADY EXISTS, return " NAME ALREADY EXISTS",   otherwize return " NAME CREATED")If behavior is to Delete a customer (( if message =NAME DOES NOT EXIST, return "NAME DOES NOT EXIST",   otherwize return "NAME SUCCESSFULLY DELETED")

I don't know if anyone is interested, but I was just struggling over an issue with a custom SSIS Control Flow Task and found that all referenced objects also have to be in the GAC to be able to create the custom object in the ssis designer. I guess that makes sense, but I searched all over for any reference to this error, and couldn't find anything. Hopes this sense for someone else!

I need to use FTP task in DTS ( or any other way), but the problem is, the source file name is not constant. It changes every day with a date extension appended to the file name, like PO_2002_6_12_PM.zip. How do I create a task task to grab this file daily as a scheduled task? Any help is appreciated.

I've gone through all the steps, and when I finally drag the custom task I've made into the control flow, I get the error
"Failed to create the task. ... Cannot create a task with the name "SSISExportToExcel.ExcelExport.ExcelExport, SSISExcelExport, ... Verify the name is correct"

I just started having an issue with maintenance tasks. When I click on one of my jobs to modify it I get the following error. Also I am unable to create a new task unless I use the wizard? I have created a Web service and I want to call a single method from it to extract data. For this reason I use the SSIS "Web Service Task" . The problem is that the xml output file from the web service task does not look in the proper way. When I invoke my web service method in the browser the result looks like the following:

My problem is that I cannot create a xsd schema for the xml file output from the "web service task", and because of this I cannot insert the data in the xml file into the Database, because the xsd schema is reqired by the XML Source which I use in my DataFlow task for inserting the data.
Do you have any ideas how to solve this strange problem?

I need to create a Table using the SQL Task and a Variable as the Table Name
I am getting an Error: "Syntax error or access violation". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.
The SQL Statement that I am using is

The ? is the Value of the Variables

I'm having a bit of a problem implementing a File System Task to Create a directory and would appreciate some help if possible.
I want to create a date directory so I can move files to once they are imported successfully. The date portion for the directory comes from the import file whose name is variable and in the format of PerfLog_<yyyymmdd>.aud. So, in essence, if I am processing a file named Perflog_20060913.aud, when I am done processing it I want to create a directory c:myprog20060913 and move my processed file there.
Can anyone help me? Please.
I need to create excel workbook "SalesData.xlsx', which should have worksheet "POS". After creating excel file in specific location, script should be able to format cells as well.For instance, first two column type should be numbers. Here are the columns:
ColumnName : Type
Id : Number
AccountNumber : Number
Name: Text
Address: Text
Also, it checks for existing file . If it exist, then overwrite the file.
In order to provide runtime, realtime, graphical feedback to ETL operators, I am planning to open a new winform when my packages start, and update the form via polling of events.
It is my understanding that this means I need to create a new thread for the winform from within the script task. Anyone done this via script task yet? Any reason why this couldn't work or shouldn't be done from the script task?
Would I be better off writing the winform app completely seperately and simply call it from an "execute process" task?

What I would like to do is this. When my package fails, it's set up to send an email using the Send Mail Task.
I would like to create a custom subject line that contains:
1.) Name of the package
2.) Name of the task that failed (if possible)

SSIS Newbie Question:
I have a simple Control Flow setup that checks to see if a particular table exists. If the table does not exists, the table is created in an alternate path, if it does exist, the table is truncated before moving to a file import Data Flow that uses an OLE DB Destination to output the imported data.
My problem is, that I get OLE DB package errors if the table the OLE DB Destination Container references does not exist when I load the package.
How can I over come this issue? I need to be able to dynamically create the table in an earlier step, then use that table to import data into in a later step in the workflow.
Is there a switch I can use to turn off checking in the OLE DB Destination Container so that it will allow me to hook up the table creation step?
Seems like this would be a common task...
Steps:
1. Execute SQL Task to see if the required table exists
2. Use expresions to test a variable to check the results of step 1
3. If table exists, truncate the table and reload it from file in Data Flow using OLE DB Destination
4. If table does not exist, 1st create it, then follow the normal Data Flow
Can someone help me with this?

OK. I give up and need help. Hopefully it's something minor ...
I have a dataflow which returns email addresses to a recordset.
I pass this recordset into a ForEachLoop configuring the enumerator as (Foreach ADO Enumerator). I also map the email address as a variable with index 0.
I then have a Execute SQL task which receives this email address as a varchar variable (parameter 0) which I then use in my SQL command to limit the rows returned. I have commented out the where clause and returned all rows regardless of email address to try to troubleshoot this problem. In either event, I then use a resultset to store the query result of type object and result name 0.
I then pass this resultset into a script variable to start parsing the sql rows returned as type object. ( I assume this is the correct way to do this from other prior posts ...).
The script appears to throw an exception at the following line. I assume it's because I'm either not passing in the values properly or the query doesn't return anything. However, I am certain the query works as it executes just fine at the command prompt.

My intent is to email the query results to each email address with the following type of data by passing the parsed data from the script to a send mail task. Email works fine and sends out messages but the content is empty. I pass the parsed data as string values to the messagesource and define the messagesourcetype as a variable in the mail task.

I'm building a simple SSIS that t reads data from a flat file and appends it to a table. The problem is that the file has no headers and it has a considerable amount of columns.
I need to make a column mapping between "column 1" in the file and the actual column name in the table.
To avoid doing it one by one, I was thinking on introducing a script in the data pipeline to change the aliases of the columns of the file.
The problem is the script designer is in VB and I'm not proficient with that.
Can any one tell me what is the VB statement to change the name of the column, or educate me on an alternative way to do it?
This was easy in sql2000 but I can't find a way to do it in sql2005

I am developing a scientific application (demographic forecasting) and have a situation where I need to update a variety of rows, say the ith, jth and kth row that meets a particular condition, say, x.
I also need to adjust rows, say mth and nth that meet condition , say y.
My current solution is laborious and has to be coded for each condition and has been set up below (If you select this entire piece of code it will create 2 databases, each with a table initialised to change the 2nd,4th,8th and 16th rows, with the first database ignoring the condition and with the second applying the change only to rows with 'type1=1' as the condition.)
This is an adequate solution, but if I want to change the second row meeting a second condition, say 'type1=2', I would need to have another WITH...SELECT...INNER JOIN...UPDATE and I'm sure this would be inefficient.
Would there possibly be a way to introduce a rank by type into the table, something like this added column which increments for each type:

I'm using SSIS in Visual Studio 2012. My Execute SQL Task calls a Stored Procedure where I have a TRY-CATCH. Last week there was a problem and the CATCH was executed and logged an error to my error table, but for some reason the Execute SQL Task didn't fail. Is there a setting to make the Execute SQL Task fail when an SP encounters a failure?

I am trying to create a simple BI Application for SSIS. In Visual Studio 2005 I just get a Data Flow Task from the toolbar and add it to the project. When I double click it I get the following error:
The task with the name "Data Flow Task" and the creation name "DTS.Pipeline.1" is not registered for use on this computer.
Then when I try to delete it it gives this other error:
Cannot remove the specified item because it was not found in the specified Collection.
I am creating this application in an administrator account in this computer, so I doubt the problem is related to permissions. I am running SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 in WinXP Tablet PC Edition.
Any suggestions why this is happening and how to fix it?
I am using the "Transfer SQL Server Objects Task" to copy some tables from database A to database B including data.
The tables, primary key constraints, Foreign key, data and all transfers nicely except for "DEFAULT CONSTRAINTS" on the tables.
I have failed to find any option in the "Transfer SQL Server Objects Task" task to explicitly say "copy default constraints". So I guess logically it should happen automatically but it doesn't. I hope it is not a bug :-)
Any option anyone knows will help.

I am using SQL 2005 SSIS. I am joining several large tables and then the move result into another table in the same database.
I would like know which method is faster:
Use Execute SQL Task to insert the result set to the target table
Use the Data Flow Task to insert the result set to the target table. (Use OLE DB source to execute SQL command and then use the SQL destination)
Could you tell me why then other is slower?

I have a SQL Task that calls a stored procedure and returns an output parameter. The task fails with error "Value does not fall within the expected range." The Stored Procedure is defined as follows: Create Procedure [dbo].[TestOutputParms] @InParm INT , @OutParm INT OUTPUT as Set @OutParm = @InParm + 5 The task uses an OLEDB connection and has a source type of Direct Input. Now how can I write the contents of the Full Result Set into a text file using Script Task. I also want to format the following way while I output into a file:

I tried writing the contents of the Object Variable into a file, but the file had an output of single word: System.__ComObject.

In short, does the €œTransfer SQL Server Objects Task€? support distributed transactions?
In trying to use a €œTransfer SQL Server Objects Task€? in a container using a transaction on the container. The task is set to support the transaction. It is setup to copy table data from several tables from a non-domain server (sql server 2000) to a domain-based server (sql server 2005). I get an error stating, €œThis task can not participate in a transaction€?.
I am wondering if it means exactly what it says €“ this task in SSIS can€™t participate at all. Or does it mean that it won€™t in this scenario for some reason. I attempted a simple copy of data from mssql 2005 to mssql 2005 (same server) and the task still failed). MSDTC appears to be running properly on my machine and such (I can do a simple distributed transaction across linked server to the 2000 server in Query Analyzer (QA)). Also, MSDTC appears to be working on both servers with distributed transaction query tests in QA.

I have an application like fetching records from the DataBase(MS Access 2000) and results i have to use in Script Task. At present i have used the record fetching query,connection string in Script itself. I would like to use in Independently. Is there any Tools like (Control Flow Tools like Execute SQL Task) are there to fetch the result set from Acccess and can use the fetching results in Script Task....
