I need to create records based on date range on monthly basis, please help.
Here is an example:
ID Startdate EndDate
1 20070301 20070522
and I need to create the following data set based on start and end date range
ID Startdate EndDate
1 20070301 20070331
1 20070301 20070430

Ok, I have two parameters - @StartDate and @EndDate. We only care about the date part of these paramters. What I would like to do is create a table with one record for each date between these two values. For example:
@StartDate = '01/01/2008'
@EndDate = '01/8/2008'
Should yield a table with 9 records in it for every day between @StartDate and @EndDate like so:
01/01/2008 <datacol1> <datacol2>
01/02/2008 <datacol1> <datacol2>
01/03/2008 <datacol1> <datacol2>
01/04/2008 <datacol1> <datacol2>
01/05/2008 <datacol1> <datacol2>
01/06/2008 <datacol1> <datacol2>
01/07/2008 <datacol1> <datacol2>
01/08/2008 <datacol1> <datacol2>
I know I could just do a WHILE (@StartDate <= @EndDate) loop and insert records into a temp table but I'm looking to see if there are any new methods/techniques to achieve this with a more simple statement.

I have a QA Deployment Date field that is being returned in a custom report I created. I also found a sample date range parameter:
What I want to accomplish:
I want to select a From and To Date and filter the report to only display the rows that have the QA Deployment Date within the selected range.
For example.. I want to select From Date (8/1/2105) and To Date (8/31/2015) and I only want to return only the results that have a QA Deployment date between that selected range.

HOW CAN I GET THE RECORD BEFORE THE MAX (AMOUNT) INBETWEEN DATES IN CASE THERE ARE 4 RECORDS WITH SAME EMPLOYEENO IN THE DATE RANGE SPECIFICIED ? THIS IS SORTED BY EMPLOYEENO AND STARTDATE DESC
SELECT EmployeeNo, StartDate AS StartDate, MIN(Amount) AS oldsalary, EndDate AS EndDate, BenefitCode,
(SELECT TOP 1 MAX([amount])

I am currently using this SQL code to capture some records over the last 2 months and it has been working great. I am now being asked if I can change this code with specifications:
1) Scan the records in the system until the count (*) as Volume reaches 30 because they prefer that as a denominator when figuring an average
2) Only run the scan for a maximum of 6 months.
So, there will most likely be some records that do not reach a volume number of 30 in this date range. In this instance we will just take the maximum volume number reached at 6 months.
So, how can I write this so it will build the file each time a record has reached the maximum of 30 and keep scanning back until we reach 6 months? If someone could lead me in the right direction on the proper order of the methodology in my code to accomplish these results it would be greatly appreciated. Desperate!

I have a situation where an agent has number of activities for a certain date range. If an agent has multiple activities within certain date range, I would like BALANCE BEFORE from the first activity and BALANCE AFTER from the last activity. Here is my current SQL query that returns the following data:
DECLARE @BeginDate Datetime
DECLARE @EndDate Datetime
Set @BeginDate = '05-1-2015'
Set @EndDate = '05-31-2015'
SELECT
a.AgentName,
R.BALANCEBEFORE,
[Code] ....
AGENTNAME BALANCE BEFORE BALANCE AFTER DATE
DOUGLAS 9738.75 9782.75 2015-05-11
DOUGLAS 9782.75 9804.75 2015-05-12
DOUGLAS 9804.75 9837.75 2015-05-13
In the sample data above, ideally I would like my query to return data as follow:
AGENTNAME BALANCE BEFORE BALANCE AFTER
DOUGLAS 9738.75 (from first activity) 9837.75 (from last activity)
Not sure how I can write sql query to accomplish this.

Hello,
I currently have a For Each File container that loops through all files from a specific directory. The files have a naming convention that looks like this;
CDNSC.CDNSC.SC00015.01012007
The last segment of the file name is the date of the data in the file (mmddyyyy). The create date for these files is always a day later than indicated in the file name.
What I would like to do is to have more control over the 'range' of files that are looped through by using the date portion of the file name to define what group of files should be looped through. Ideally, I would like to have a 'StartDate' variable and an 'EndDate' variable that I could define at run time for the package, and the package would loop through all of the files where the date portion of the file name fell between 'StartDate' and 'EndDate'.
Any ideas on this?
Thank you for your help!

Hi,
Using SQL Server 2000, I need to perform date range type queries that involve my company's Fiscal Year, which is not the same as the calendar year. My company's Fiscal Year if from Sept 1 to Aug 31, where Aug 31st year determines the Fiscal Year. For example, since today's date is 09/20/2006, the current Fiscal Year is 2007.
An example of a typical query requirement:
Find all the sales figures to-date for the current Fiscal Year. So, a WHERE clause will consist of a date range query from 09/01/2006 to 8/31/2007.
Initially, I created a Function to find the current Fiscal Year based on the current date, by calling the GETDATE() function and passing the results to the following function:
CREATE FUNCTION dbo.fnGetFY (@CurrentDatetime datetime)
RETURNS int
AS
BEGIN
DECLARE @FY int
IF (SELECT MONTH(@CurrentDatetime)) > 8
SET @FY = YEAR(@CurrentDatetime) + 1
ELSE
SET @FY = YEAR(@CurrentDatetime)
RETURN(@FY)
END
So, the view queries that involve the Fiscal Year call the above function.
However, these function calls drag down the VIEW query response time to the point where the time is either unacceptable or an ODBC Timeout occurs, even with Query Analyzer.
Is there a way to create a Global server parameter to hold the current Fiscal Year value, so function calls are not necessary? Or set Fiscal Year date ranges for a database or server system parameter?
Does anyone know of a efficent, response timewise, way to handle Fiscal Year date range queries?
Will appreciate the help!!!

I have the following data,
CustomerID EngID EngCount
1 A11 2
2 B12 1

I need to display it as,
CustomerID EngID EngCount
1 A11 1
1 A11 1
2 B12 1
3 C10 1
3 C10 1
3 C10 1
Create a record based on the EngCount. So CustomerID of 3 has 3 records as shown above.
How to do?

I have the following table:
Occ_Num Feature_Num Trans_Date Peril_Desc
123 1 1-2-2012 Water
123 1 1-11-2012 Ice
123 2 1-2-2012 Other
123 2 1-13-2012 Other
123 2 1-19-2012 Wind
I want to select each Occ_Num, Feature_NUM, Trans_Date, and PERIL_Desc but with only the Peril that was part of the max trans_date.
So i would want the following from above:
Occ_Num Feature_Num Trans_Date Peril_Desc
123 1 1-11-2012 Ice
123 2 1-19-2012 Wind
I'm having trouble with the syntax need to accomplish this.

I would like to have records in my Absences table split up into multiple records in my query based on a start and end date.
A random record in my Absences table shows (as an example):
resource: 1
startdate: 2014-08-20 09:00:00.000
enddate: 2014-08-23 13:00:00.000
hours: 28 (= 8 + 8 + 8 + 4)
I would like to have 4 lines in my query:
resource date hours
1 2014-08-20 8
1 2014-08-21 8
1 2014-08-22 8
1 2014-08-23 4
Generating the 4 lines is not the issue; I call 3 functions to do that together with cross apply.One function to get all dates between the start and end date (dbo.AllDays returning a table with only a datevalue column); one function to have these dates evaluated against a work schedule (dbo.HRCapacityHours) and one function to get the absence records (dbo.HRAbsenceHours) What I can't get fixed is having the correct hours per line.
What I now get is:
resource date hours
...
1 2014-08-19 NULL
1 2014-08-20 28
1 2014-08-21 28
1 2014-08-22 28
1 2014-08-23 28
1 2014-08-24 NULL
...
... instead of the correct hours per date (8, 8, 8, 4).
A very simplified extract of my code is:
DECLARE @startdate DATETIME
DECLARE @enddate DATETIME
SET @startdate = '2014-01-01'
SET @enddate = '2014-08-31'
SELECTh.res_id AS Resource,
t.datevalue,
(SELECT ROUND([dbo].[HRCapacityHours] (h.res_id, t.datevalue, t.datevalue), 2)) AS Capacity,
(SELECT [dbo].[HRAbsenceHours] (9538, h.res_id, t.datevalue, t.datevalue + 1) AS AbsenceHours
FROMResources h (NOLOCK)
CROSS APPLY (SELECT * FROM [dbo].[AllDays] (@startdate, @enddate)) t
p.s.The 9538 value in the HRAbsenceHours function refers to the absences-workflowID.I can't get this solved.

Hi All,I have a table in SQL Server 2000 that contains several million memberids. Some of these member ids are duplicated in the table, and eachrecord is tagged with a 1 or a 2 in [recsrc] to indicate where theycame from.I want to remove all member ids records from the table that have arecsrc of 1 where the same member id also exists in the table with arecsrc of 2.So, if the member id has a recsrc of 1, and no other record exists inthe table with the same member id and a recsrc of 2, I want it leftuntouched.So, in a theortetical dataset of member id and recsrc:0001, 10002, 20001, 20003, 10004, 2I am looking to only delete the first record, because it has a recsrcof 1 and there is another record in the table with the same member idand a recsrc of 2.I'd very much appreciate it if someone could help me achieve this!Much warmth,Murray

I have table "Clients" who have associated records in table "Mailings"
I want to populate a gridview using a single query that grabs all the info I need so that I may utilize the gridview's built in sorting.
I'm trying to return records containing the next upcoming mailing for each client.
The closest I can get is below:
I'm using GROUP BY because it allows me to return a single record for each client and the MIN part allows me to return the associated record in the mailings table for each client that contains the next upcoming 'send_date'
SELECT MIN(dbo.tbl_clients.client_last_name) AS exp_last_name, MIN(dbo.tbl_mailings.send_date) AS exp_send_date, MIN(dbo.tbl_mailings.user_id) AS exp_user_id, dbo.tbl_clients.client_id, MIN(dbo.tbl_mailings.mailing_id) AS exp_mailing_idFROM dbo.tbl_clients INNER JOIN
dbo.tbl_mailings ON dbo.tbl_clients.client_id = dbo.tbl_mailings.client_idWHERE (dbo.tbl_mailings.user_id = 1000)GROUP BY dbo.tbl_clients.client_id
The user_id set at 1000 part is what makes it rightly pull in all clients for a particular user. Problem is, by using the GROUP BY statement I'm just getting the lowest 'mailing_id' number and NOT the actual entry associated with mailing item I want to return. Same goes for the last_name field. Perhaps I need to have a subquery within my WHERE clause?Or am I barking up the wrong tree entirely..

Date parameter. I created a report that allows a drop down for a date range to be selected. However, whenever I preview the report, I get an error. I know my error stems from my date fields being in this format "201301" , and the "date/ time" in SSRS being mm/dd/yyyy on the drop down calendar in SSRS.
I know the direction I want to go in, but just a little confused on where would I use the convert or cast function. Would it be in the data parameter itself, or a part of the query before the @start date and @End date?

I would like to be able to search by a single date, @StartDate, or by a date range , between @StartDate and @EndDate. I am having a hard time with the logic on this for a report in SSRS.

I have to display the last temperature reading from an activity table for all the dates in a selected date range.So if I select the date range from 09/01/2012 to 09/30/2012, the results should look like this:
Date Temperature
09/01/2012 73.5
09/02/2012 75.2
09/03/2012 76.3
09/04/2012 73.3
09/05/2012 77.0
09/06/2012 74.5
and so on.
I am using this to get the dates listed:
WITH CTE_DatesTable
AS
(
SELECT CAST('20120901' as date) AS [Date]
UNION ALL
SELECT DATEADD(dd, 1, [Date])
FROM CTE_DatesTable
WHERE DATEADD(dd, 1, [Date]) <= '20120930'
)
SELECT [Date]
FROM CTE_DatesTable
How could I get the temperature if I did a sub-query here?

I have a report that I need to run on 2 different date ranges.
Both report's data is 2 days behind today's date.
so...
WHERE reportdate between dateadd('d',date(),-2) and dateadd('d',date(),-2)
OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, NO BIGGIE HERE
The 2nd report is a month to date report. This is the 1 I can't figure out.
WHERE reportdate between (the first day of this month) and dateadd('d',date(),-2)
So that would look like
WHERE reportdate between 1/1/2007 and 1/21/2007
My problem is, if today is the 1st day of the month... how can I get my critiera to NOT do this
WHERE reportdaye between 2/1/2007 and 1/30/2007
Any help would be greatly appriciated!

Have seen other questions here about modifying date pickers supplied by reports created in BIDS. The answer is usually NO. But this does not involve a format change, simply want to limit say to a specific year.
Any ideas?

Hi
I have a table with a user column and other columns. User column id the primary key.
I want to create a copy of the record where the user="user1" and insert that copy in the same table in a new created record. But I want the new record to have a value of "user2" in the user column instead of "user1" since it's a primary key
Thanks.

I have a date/time value (dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss) stored in a field as part of each record in a dataset.
I would like to achieve the following via a single T-SQL query if possible (efficiency is not an issue as the dataset is small)
On query run;
Check if any records in the dataset are within 10 minutes + or - of the current system time (using the date/time value referenced above)
if none
Load the first record

I hope you can help me. I posted this in the microsoft sql server newsgroupa few days ago and got no response so I thought I'd try here. If I canprovide any clarification I'll be glad to do so.I'm trying to calculate a column based on the value of the previous record.I'm not very experienced with SQL-Server.I'm using the following table:CREATE TABLE tblPayment([PaymentID] [int] IDENTITY (1, 1) NOT NULL ,[LoanID] [int] NULL ,[PaymentPeriod] [int] NULL ,[PaymentRecDate] [datetime] NULL ,[PaymentAMT] [money] NULL)I have a view based on this table. That view has the following calculatedcolumnsBeginningBalance: For the first record, this is equal to the loan amountfrom the loan table. For each additional record this is equal to the endingbalance from the previous payment record.Interest: BeginningBalance * the monthly interest rate from the loantablePrincipal: PaymentAMT - InterestEndingBalance: BeginningBalance - PrincipalIt might seem I could use a subquery to calculate the Beginning Balance asin:SELECT LoanID, PaymentPeriod, PaymentAMT,(SELECT SUM(PaymentAMT) FROM tblPayment AS tbl1WHERE tbl1.LoanID = tblPayment.LoanID AND tbl1.PaymentPeriod <tblPayment.PaymentPeriod) AS BeginBalanceFROM tblPaymentWHERE (LoanID = @LoanID)But this will not work, because the interest is calculated on the previousmonth's balance. I need to find a way to loop through the recordset. Isthis possible?Thank you,--Derek CooperDatabase9www.database9.com

Hi;
We received a Payment from a customer on '10/10/2007 10:30:00'. i am trying to calculate the commission we would receive from that payment. the commission rate can be edited. so i have to find what the commission rate was when that payment was received.
I have a CommisionAudit table that tracks changes in commission rate with the following values.
ID | Commission Change | UpdatedOn
----------------------------------------------
1 | Change from 20->25 | 03/07/2007 09:00:00
----------------------------------------------
2 | Change from 25->35 | 10/09/2007 17:00:00
----------------------------------------------
3 | Change from 35->20 | 01/10/2007 16:00:00
----------------------------------------------
4 | Change from 20->26 | 11/10/2007 10:00:00
----------------------------------------------
with this payment, as the commission rate had been changed on 01/10/2007 it would obviously be 20%(ID 3). But I need to write sql to cover all eventualities i.e. Before the first and after the last. any help would be most welcome.
