I'm new in SSIS I'm trying to create SSIS that can copy tables,permission,index,constrant... to a sqlserver2000 from sqlserver2005. Can any one help stepbystep.

I Have multiple xml data file on a particular location, and want to load those XML data into sql server tables, but he metadata of each xml data files are not same.
Hence the approach is that,
1. Pick first file from that location
2. Create a table according to that xml data file metada
3. Â load data on newly created table. Â
4. Pickup the next xml data files.
5. loop through, till the XML data files are exists on that location.
Using SSIS To Copy Several Tables From One Database To Another
Apr 3, 20081) Scenario
Source Oracle database with 400 tables, each table has a field 2 common fields
Change_date and Company_ID
2) Required
To copy 50 tables to at least 2 different SQL Server databases based on the
Change_date and Company_ID
for Compnay_ID = €˜A1€™ and Change_Date = Last_Working_Date , copy 50 tables to Database1
for Company ID = €˜A2€™ and Change_Date = Last_Working_Date , copy 50 tables to Database2
Also I am not copying all the fields from each table, just a subset of fields
3)What I have done so far to create Database1
a) Created a SSIS project
b) Create 5 individual packages for the project.
c) Each package has 10 pairs of OLE DB source to OLE DB source representing the transfer of data for 10 individual tables.
d) For each data source, I use SQL command as the data access mode
E.g
Select field1, field2, fiedl10 from Table1 where Compnay_ID = €˜A1€™ and Change_Date =
Last_Working Date
4) What I want to do
However, since the where condition is the same for all tables (Compnay_ID = €˜A1€™ and Change_Date = Last_Working Date) , I want to find a way to set this as variable, so if the where condition changes, I only have to change it once.
Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

SSIS Transfer Object Task Error - Selecting Tables To Copy
May 4, 2007I'm using a Business Intelligence project to copy stored procedures and tables from one database to another across servers. I'm having trouble copying tables or stored procedures using the Management.SMO.Transfer class.
I tried copying stored procedure with the property transfer.CopyAllStoredProcedures = true. This didn't work. As a workaround, I used the StringCollection property and executed every string as sql.
Now I'm having trouble copying tables. I don't want to copy all the tables in the database. How do I go about selecting what tables to copy. I tried using ObjectList property and provided the names of the tables in an ArrayList. I get the error
"Transfer cannot process System.String. You need to pass an instance class object."
How can I pass an "instance class object" for something that's in the database? The ScriptTransfer method fails so I can't even see the script that is being generated. There is virtually no documentation for this class.
Any help will be appreciated.

Creating And Accessing Temp Tables In SSIS Package

I want to create a local temporary table in execute sql task and and want to use the same in Data flow task as source table.
I follow the following steps to achieve this:
01. Created a new SSIS package
02. Create a connection string to "(local)/." server, "tempdb" database
03. Set the "RetainSameConnection" property value to "TRUE"
04. Set the "DelayValidation" to "TRUE", where ever I found this property
04. In Control Flow I added to items
a. Execute SQL Task
b. Data Flow Task
05. For "Execute SQL task" I set the connection to "tempdb"
06. I written the following query
Create table #transfer_CompaniesToProcess_tbl
(
companyID int not null
)
GO
07. In Data Flow task I added "OLE DB Source" and "OLE DB Destination"
08. In "OLE DB Source" I changed the "Data access mode:" to "SQL command"
09. In "SQL command text:" I entered "select * from #transfer_CompaniesToProcess_tbl"
10. When I clicked on the "OK" button; I ended with following error:

May 25, 2015If I have an XML without an XSD what is the best way to create and import data in SQL Server? I know I can use xsd.exe to create an XSD from my XML.
But if I want my structure to be somewhat different in SQL server how would I go about creating a reliable and repeatable import system for my data so i can easily manage the data updates?

Need To Copy All Oracle Tables To SQL Server 2005
Jan 31, 2007I am racking my brain on this one. I am migrating Oracle data to SQL Server and would like an SSIS package that will copy the oracle data from every table to SQL server. I already have the schema set up in SQL and a straight copy of a specified table works fine between the OLEDB source and OLEDB destination. However, when I set up a loop which sets a global variable for the table names, which are identical on both dbs, and try to set the OLEDB Source and Destination OpenRowsetVariable to the global variable, the process fails with these errors with all validation turned off:
[OLE DB Source [18]] Warning: Cannot retrieve the column code page info from the OLE DB provider. If the component supports the "DefaultCodePage" property, the code page from that property will be used. Change the value of the property if the current string code page values are incorrect. If the component does not support the property, the code page from the component's locale ID will be used.
[OLE DB Source [18]] Error: Column "ID" cannot be found at the datasource.
[DTS.Pipeline] Error: component "OLE DB Source" (18) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC0202005.
To sum up, I want to set the tables dynamically and have them infer the mappings. The names of the columns are already the exact same on each schema, and the data types are mapped accordingly. I have already verified that the names of the tables have been formatted correctly for each database. If I can't do it this way then how?
How To Copy Tables From Local Machine To Remote SQL Server
Jul 23, 2005We currently have a PPTP connection set up for our developers toaccess our development SQL server through a VPN tunnel. When theyneed to copy tables up to the dev SQL from their local machine theysimply do a DTS copy.However, we are now moving to a thin client solution where they willbe working on a terminal server. They will have access to thedevelopment SQL servers and SQL tools such as EM and QA. However,they will not have access to their local SQL server and, therefore,will not be able to directly perform DTS copies. We have exploredseveral possibilities such as exporting tables to a .csv or .mdb fileand then importing them on the development SQL server but this is notideal because things are lost in that process (e.g. primary keys,field names, data types, etc.)My question is this: Is there a way to export and then import SQLtables without losing dependent objects such as primary keys and datatypes in the process? If any of you are working with a similarsituation I would really like to hear how your remote users copyobjects from their remote location to your SQL servers. Jun 12, 2015I am currently moving everything from SQL Server 2005 SP2 to SQL Server 2012. I have a method for getting users, logins, roles and SQL jobs. But I also have to get copy all of the SSIS packages from 2005 to 2012. I know I can go to the 2012 SQL Server and click on the MSDN folder and choose import. However, this only enables me to import one package at a time. I have 95 packages. Is there a way to get them all from the 2005 SQL Server to the 2012 SQL Server in one shot? I am not a SQL developer nor am I a DBA but I have been assigned this task.

And it seems like I can only do this one package at a time, which is tedious. Anybody out there who's done all packages at once?

Copy An Olap Database To A Remote Server Using SSIS
May 2, 2008How to add a task to copy an OLAP database to a remote Sql server in control flow using SSIS 2005? This OLAP database is existed in the remote server and I just want to replace the existing one with the one just been updated in the SSIS package and the last task in the package is to copy the updated OLAP database and replace the one at the remote server. Hopfully during the copy and paste process it will not screw up the reports that are using the OLAP cubes at the remote server as the report data source. Thanks.

Oct 22, 2015I am copying data from database to an excel file through SSIS. database is MS SQL 2005 and BIDS is also 2005.However, the job doing this task fails every time.As per investigation, the result of the query is more than 100,000 rows and we know that excel has a limit of 65000 rows of data.Is there a way of setting the limit up? or something? a better approach maybe so that everything will be copied to the excel file successfully.

Creating A Database Copy For Reporting

What's the best mechanism for creating a reporting database? I have a Microsoft Dynamics ERP system that I'm using and all our reports are currently run of the live production database. I'd like to create a reporting database that has a relatively fresh copy of the live database to run reports off. It appears mirroring is the way to go, but I'd like to get recommendations from people on this.
Is there a good site that explains how to set this up? Any thing to watch out for?

I'm having a problem right now. I'm trying to create an offline copy of a database(live) in my local machine. The database is maintained in a different server machine and I want a copy of the particular DB as an offline copy.
The problem is there's DTS feature in SQL Server 2000 but I don't find any such tool in SQL Server 2005 edition. Can anyone please guide me on how to do this process?

May 10, 2007I haven't had any luck using the Transfer SQL Server Objects task and from what I have found in researching the issues I ran into, no else has. I have found the Roll Your Own article but being non-educated in SMO and VB.Net (I know some VB but nothing about C#), I really need an example of a server to server copy/transfer.

This error pops up right after i change the type of the step to "SQL Server Intergration Services Package"
I have made the following configurations:
The user group (windows group) that the user belongs has the following roles in msdb :
db_dtsadmin
db_dtsltuser
db_dtsoperator
SQLAgentOperatorRole
SQLAgentReaderRole
SQLAgentUserRole
i have made a proxy to sql server agent which has the following subsystems :
"SQL Server Integration Services Provider" the proxy is tied to the same login which has those SQLagent and dts roles in msdb database.
Im using windows authentication and the user that logs into the sql server is in the same group that i have set all of the rights.
Ps. Clearly im missing some role or right somewhere because as soon as i give the group sysadmin role then all the users in that group can create SSIS steps in the agent.
Ps. Ps. I have been living under the impression that i dont have to give sysadmin rights to people that create ssis packages and schedule then with the agent.

Copy Wizard Gives Error Creating Share
May 19, 2004When I run the database copy wizard I'm getting an error creating shared omwwize.
The source server is 7.0. The destination server is 2000. I'm invoking the wizard from the 2000 machine.
Anybody know what this error means?

Error When Creating Script To Copy Stored Procedures
Jan 16, 2007Our DB has around 30 SProcs - I need to move them into a script, so that it can be easily added to another server. The way I'm creating the script is to highlight all the SProcs, then copy - in my notepad screen, I paste, which gives me one script, which includes all the individual creation scripts for the Sprocs.
However, I'm getting an error when I create the script -
Cannot add rows to sysdepends for the current stored procedure because it depends on the missing object 'SP_MySproc'. The stored procedure will still be created.
So - what's a good, and/or easy way to structure the script, so that I can easily find WHERE to put Which SProc Script, in the list?

May 26, 2007I have a table that I am basically reduplicating a couple of times for each part of this database that I want to create.Each table basically has the same data: The tables will be called motherTable, fatherTable, sonTable, daughterTable and so on.I am pretty much using the following in each column: UserID, MotherID(or FatherID or SonID, etc., etc. and so on for each unique table), FirstName, LastName, MiddleName, BirthPlace, Photo, Age.I don't see an option to copy a table and just modify the second ID part and rename that table accordingly.How can I make this an easier way of creating these similar tables without retyping all these columns over and over again?Thanks in advance.

Exercise 1 - Writing the no-op data flow transformation component -
Task 1 - Create a new C# Class Library Project
The textual description talks about creating a new Visual C# Class Library project in VS 2005 but the screenshot accompanying it shows the creation of new "Integration Service Project" in VS 2005.
Please change the screenshot appropriately to avoid confusions.
