I have few reports under different folders in Report Manager. Is there a way to set the data source for the whole folder rather than each report individually? There is also a folder where reports generate dynamically. Since the report project doesn't exist anymore, I can't set the data source through code. How can I set the data source for the whole folder?

I've created an MSI project that configures and installs an SSIS package to a sub-folder under MSDB using the DTS runtime SaveToSqlServerAs() method. Right now, I have to create the sub-folder via SSMS beforehand. Is there a way to create the sub-folder via the DTS runtime or a SQL command during the MSI install?

Dear all,
I now have 2 server, say serverA and serverB. ServerA has a SQL server and I am using a command in the SQL server to access the serverB. The command is:
declare @command varchar(500)
set @command = 'mkdir ' + '"\serverBabckevin_wong123"
exit'
exec master.dbo.XYRunProc
'cmd.exe',
'c:',
@command
where abc is a shared folder in serverB which can be accessed by serverA. However the output of this execution is "c:> mkdir "\serverBabckevin_wong123" Access is denied". It is possible to do this in command prompt. Does anyone know what's the problem of this?
Thank you very much!!

Hello,
When you create a Reporting Services project it by default creates two folders: Shared Data Sources & Reports. When I right click on the Reports folder in solution explorer in Visual Studio 2005 there is no option to add subfolders, I am simply left with handful of options adding report files. Is there a way to add subfolders to the Reports folder? I am going to be migrating over 40-50+ reports and it would be helpful to organize them into their own folders.
Thanks,
Flea

Hello, when I log onto Report Manager web server using Windows Authentication, I need this user to be directed to a default sub folder.
For example: if I have folder A and sub folder 1 and 2. I need to be able to log in and be directed to sub folder 1. I was able to set up view role and access folder A. But then I need to click on folder 1 to view / create my reports.

I have multiple reports, in multiple folders, that have fields in them and those fields are set to Navigate to the same report. I'd like to store a single copy of the report being navigated to in one hidden folder.
Example
Report "Inventory Value" in folder Accounting has the Item Number field set to navigate to the report "Item Details"stored in folder Linked Reports
Paths
//ReportServer/Accounting/Inventory_Value
//ReportServer/Linked_Reports/Item_Details
Is there a way to do this?

Greetings,
I have a set of reports that should be accessible to any user on our network. Those reports are located in a single folder in SSRS. I would like to configure security to allow anyone to see the reports in that folder. Is there a way to do this?
I do have other folders where I am using security so I do not want to open up system-wide access to all reports.
Thank you for your ideas.

New ssrs istall. I think they loaded sp2. It's a cluster, but ssrs was not clustered (I think)
When I attempt to open report manager, i just get
SQL Server Reporting Services
Home
with no option for creating a folder etc, like i have on development
When I attempt to deploy to ther server I get :
Deploying to http://amsqlclusterxx/reportserver/
Error rsItemAlreadyExists : The item '/Retailer' already exists.
How do I create an ssrs reports folder?
Also, and this is strange, but in vs.net I had to create a new shared datasource after removing the old one on the report with the same name. The report renders fine when I do an f5 pointing to a new datasource, but I no longer have the RUN "!" icon available while in the data tag to run my query. Why is this?
Thanks for any help or information.

SQL server 20005 SP2 is install in my WIN XP machine. I implement a SSRS report and try to deliver the report to a share folder in window 2000 server.
I create and set permissions on a shared folder as per the information in http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345228.aspx. The account that I use in subscription is local admin account in the target machine.

I dont alot about sql server 2005(Express edition). For debugging purposes i want to copy the whole app_data folder(.mdf & .log files) on the production server to another folder on the same machine(or sometimes to a network folder). So when i copy and try to paste this App_data folder to a new location, i get this error message
"cannot copy ASPNETDB: it is being used by another person or program. close any programs that might be using the file and try again."
After reading the above message, i close visual web developer, stop the website in IIS and stop the SQLExpress service on the server and try again but still get the same message.
So how can i make sure that all the programs accessing these database files are closed such that i'm able able to copy them to a different location.

I know a WMI event watcher can be used to watch for a new file being added to a folder. However, I need to check for new folders being added to an existing folder. I haven't been able to find a post on doing this. Is there a way in WQL to check for a new folder being added instead of a new file? I've used SQL for years, but am new to SSIS.

I have an issue as to where only some reports are visible within Report Viewer url. But if I navigate to the path of the rdl's there are many more present that should be visible through Report Viewer. The client was recently upgraded, and I seem to have all out of box roles and permission levels yet can only see some of those reports, as if some were manually copied to this folder location at a later point and perhaps some user job needs to be run to reflect import those additional rdl's?

Ok,
I have a network folder called A
I have a SharePoint (2007) Document Library site called B. Web Client is enabled on the server and B is mapped as a Drive (let's call it Y for this discussion)
I want to move documents in A to B. Easy enough, right? Not so....
I first started by creating a batch file that issues a COPY \A \Y /Y at the command prompt. Viola! Worked Great!
I then moved that command to a SQL Agent job as a CMDExec statement (exact same statement) and attempted to run it.....CRASH! It found the files in A but then said "The system cannot find the path specified"
Ok, so I tried it in SSIS. CRASH! Checked the error log. Same thing...
So I then checked the account under which the SQl Agent was running (special domain account for all our SQL Servers). Thinking it might mater I changed it to run under my name (I'm in Domain admin). I also ensured I had permissions to the SPS 2007 library as well. (I did).
Ran again! CRASH! Same error....
So, I created a batch file , placed thec ommand in the batch file and ran that from the command prompt! Viola! Worked Great.
So, I was thinking of how ingenious I was as I pasted my C:RootCopy.bat into my SQL Agent job. With a big grin on my face I right clicked and picked "Start Job at step".......CRASH! Same error.
Does anyone have any ideas on this ???????????????
Thanks,
Stephen

I have a set of folders with the following structure:
MainFolder
1999
SpreadsheetA.xls
SpreadsheetB.xls
SpreadsheetC.xls
2000
SpreadsheetA.xls
SpreadsheetB.xls
SpreadsheetC.xls
etc.
Is there a way that I can use the foreach loop container to loop the sub folders? My plan was to get the folder name and path into a variable, use this to build the connection string for each file in this folder, carry out the upload for that folder, then move onto the next folder and do the same thing, but I cannot see a way to do this.
Thanks,
Sam

I am having problem with moving a file from one folder to another folder. Here is the detailed scenario:
I want to move a input.csv file from shared input folder to shared archive folder. i am using the below code to do this.
declare @inpath varchar(100)
SET @inpath = 'move "\abcdefINPUTinput*.csv" "\abcdefARCHIVEarchive.csv"'
EXEC @filestatus = master..xp_cmdshell @inpath
but the problem was it was cutting the input.csv file from INPUT folder but not pasting it in the ARCHIVE folder.
I really appreciate if anyone can help me to solve this or anyone can tell some workarounds.
Thanks,

I'm building my report using the Report Designer in the SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio. At the moment I've got a single report which consists of 2 tables. The top table shows some summary data and the bottom table shows more detail.
What I'd like to do is design the report so that when the summary data (in the top table) appears, the user can click on a row in the table and this takes them to a new screen which shows more detail about that item, extracted from the bottom table.
Is this possible? I know it's possible to create a drill-through report if you have the high-level summary data in one report and the low-level detailed data in a separate report, but is it possible to create a drill-through report if all the data is in one single report (albeit in 2 separate tables)?

Hi,
I have only recently started playing around with Reporting Services (2005), and I am having some problems creating a basic report.
What I want to display is a table which shows product names in the first column, sales for a specific period this year in the second column, and sales for the same period last year in the third column. The 'specific period' is determined by specifying a start week and an end week which I have set up as parameters.
I have managed to produce the first 2 column with no trouble. However, for the third column I need to subtract 52 weeks from the parameters and use them as new parameter in the third column.
Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Hi
I'm not sure if this is possible, i want to create a report from a stored procedure, all the stored procedure does is select data from my database, however, the code is 1800+ lines of code, it executes in about 1 minute, which is fine. My problem is that i can't paste 1800+ lines of code into the dataset in Reporting Services, so is it possible to get the values from my stored procedure into reporting services so that i can use them to design and execute my report?
Or musst i find an alternative way to do this?
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreaciated and welcome.
Thanks in advance
Kind Regards

Can anyone help me?
I've read the instructions on the following page
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159118.aspx
about how to generate a report model from a cube.
I can set up the cube as a data source but when I look at the properties there is no option to "Generate Model".
I am running SQL 2005 DE SP2(CTP).
The option is just not there for me. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
Some of you might remember me posting a question about importing data from a csv. Well I've managed to do that now by writing a vb.net service.
Now all I need to do is have some kind of method of exporting the data as a report via email every night.
The tables are as follows...
CDetails
cNumber
ClName
FE
Disb_1
cNumber
type
dateReq
payee
amount
vat
total
chequeReq
Disb_2 - Disb_20
"Same as Disb_1"
The report structure I need is...
cNumber ClName FE type dateReq payee amount vat total chequeReq
With data from each disb on a new line, i.e. cNumber could be the same for 20 rows! (don't blame me, it's what they want!)
The records should only be shown though when the dateReq is equal to today. I think I can do that with the DateDiff function.
The problem I have is knowing how to set the report up and what to do it in, Reporting services or Business Intelligence. The report only has to be an email, would it even be simpler to write an extra class into my service?

Hi all,
I'm just getting started with Reporting Services and have a question.
I'm trying to set up a report model based on a UDB data source. However when I use the report model wizard, I get presented with:
[DB2/SUN] SQL0104N An unexpected token "SET TRANSACTION" was found following "BEGIN-OF-STATEMENT" ... SQLSTATE 42601.
I think that this is trying to set transaction isolation levels however this is not valid SQL for a UDB database.
Is there something that I'm missing with my configuration to make RS know that this is a non-SQLServer database?
Many thanks,
JK

Has anyone found out how to dynamically create report width.
If I have 20 columns on a report all of 2cm, then report will be 40cm width.
If I display the columns based on specific criteria using the iif function and then setting the an expression for the Visibility Hidden property, the report could potentially reduce in width.
I cannot see how to build an expression for the report width or table width, to accommodate the potential change in the width of the report when columns are not shown, thus it pages incorrectly, leaving huge white space on the right of the report when columns are hidden... has anyone come across this requirement, and hopefully a solution for it?
Many Thanks people
