I need to get the object type (view, table ...etc) for a synonym base object inside a script. The only place where I see something related to this stored is in column "base_object_name" in sys.synonyms but there I can see only the same with format [database].[user/schema].[name]. After some testing playing with different users without specifying database/schema I think that maybe the object_id must be stored in a another place, my first idea was parent_object_id in sys.synonyms but it isn't stored there.
know if object_id for the base object is stored in any other place ?
Hi Friends,

Dear all,
I am stuck with a SSIS package and I can€™t work out. Let me know what steps are the correct in order to solve this.

The same querypreview works fine without the parameter:

Can anybody tell me why this is?
And tell me a way to get the tableadapter working?

Before I got this error I was getting another problem (sorry didn't make a copy of that error's text) that made me think that adodb.dll simply wasn't loaded/registered. I got rid of that error by copying my adodb.dll onto the third machine and running gacutil /i. There is now an entry in winntassemblies for adodb.
Just in case you think it could be an obvious registry problem: when I started getting the current error I thought that maybe the registry needed updating and I merged the following lines into onto the target machine (from my dev machine):

Hi,
I have developed a custom server control for .NET Framework 2.0. The server control has a property named BinaryData of type byte[]. I marked this property to be data bindable. Now, I have varbinary(Max) type of field in my SQL Database and I have used SQLDataSource and bound this varbinary(Max) field with the property BinaryData (byte[]) of my control. It is working fine as long as the data value is not NULL. Now, In my control, I have handled the NULL value so that no Exception is thrown. Still, when I bind this property using the SQLDataSource, I get Error "Unable to cast object of type 'System.DBNull' to type 'System.Byte[]'." I am not sure if I can do anything to stop this erro within my control. If it is not possible from the control, then what is the workaround that I can do in my ASPX page in order to stop this error ?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi
I have some SSIS variables of type System.Object (they have to be this
type because they are used to hold the results of a single row result
set in an Execute SQL task which is querying an Oracle database.
Although I know the Oracle table columns are Numeric, this was the only
SSIS type that worked).
My problem is that I want to use these variables in expressions, but
can't - I get the error "The data type of variable "User::varObjectVar"
is not supported in an expression".
The only workaround I can think of is to use a script to assign
the numeric values (integers, in fact) that these variables hold to
other variables of type Int32.
Is that my only option, or am I missing something?
thanks

Hi,
I cannot seem to find the documentation on what is returned when you call ConnectionManager. For example in the code below I'm using an FTP Connection Manager. The cn variable is a System.__ComObject and I cannot see how to determine what com type it actually is, nor can I find any API documentation which describes the types each connection manager "manages".
The reason I'm trying to do this is I want to create a script which enumerates the directoy listing of an FTP site, I've got it working using varaibles but I'm trying to see if it's possible to use the connection manager instead.
Dim cmgr As Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.ConnectionManager = Dts.Connections("FTP Connection Manager")
Dim cn As Object = cmgr.AcquireConnection(Nothing)

Return mArray
End Function
Dim showValArr As Array = buildObj()Response.Write(showValArr(0).objVal1.ToString)
When I build my site, I get the following error:Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
It's pointing to the line that says "Error is here". Any ideas would be very helpful.Thank you!
I just completed creating a replication job between a server at my location, where I have SA privileges, to a subscription server at a location where I have db_owner rights (no SA). When replication runs, the objects get created on the subscriber as userid.object rather then dbo.object. The subscriber permissions were set by clicking on "Replication", right clicking on "Publication", clicking on "Configure Publishing, Subscribers and Distribution...", clicking on Subscribers tab, choosing the subscriber and selecting "Use SQL Server Authentication". How do I cause replication to create the objects as dbo.object if I connect to the subscriber using an id defined as db_owner?

I need to create RDF files dynamically. As one example, I need to output a report that contains an OLAP table from an MDX query and will need to generate the RDL that represents the table on the fly. (Binding to a data source with any built-in control will not even come close to solving the problem. The actual requirements are extremely complex.)
In short... Rather than outputting the RDL XML the hard way is there an object model I can use to construct an RDL document with? Even if it's a bindhind-the-scenese, not-supported library?
Thanks,
Terry
Hello,I am working on a .NET project and I would like to save some LOCALIZED content in an SQL 2005 database. This content might be a string, a number or even a class with its properties values defined so I can retrieve it later.I will not need search or any complex operation just the following:1. Add content to the database2. Remove content from the database by contentId3. Get content from the database by contentIdAnyway, is this possible? What SQL 2005 datatype should I use to accomplish this? Thanks,Miguel
View 1 Replies View RelatedHi,
I try to implement mirroring using certificate authentication.
When I do this query :
create certificate Principal_cert with subject = 'Principal certificate', start_date = '2007/11/01', expiry_date = '2020/11/01';
GO
Create endpoint endpoint_Princ state = started
as tcp(listener_port = 7024, listener_ip = all)
for database_mirroring (authentication=certificate Principal_cert, encryption = disabled, role = all);
GO
I have this error :
Msg 1088, Level 15, State 1, Line 1
Cannot find the object "Principal_cert" because it does not exist or you do not have permissions.
I have also noticed that the error does not occured when I try this in the master database.
So, I have two questions:
1. Why SQL server does not find a certificate that just been created ?
2. Should the certificate be in the master database or in the database being mirrored ?
Thanks for any help.
CREATE ASSEMBLY uploads an assembly that was previously compiled as a .dll file from managed code for use inside an instance of SQL Server.
What I want to do here is enable/create a "MODIFY" option on CLR-based objects in Object Explorer.
Option is only supported for assemblies who's source code has been previously loaded into DB via ALTER ASSEMBLY
Upon electing the option, source code gets displayed in editor.
Users alters managed source
User clicks the "Execute" button in the editor
onClick of "Execute" performs following
Alters managed source (not sure if this can be done in the system tables, may have to save .cs/.vb files out to file system first then reupload)
Builds updated source/.dll is built
Executes an ALTER ASSEMBLY statement to "refresh" the dll and it's associated source code file(s)
Now...how the heck do i do this lol! Anyone

Hello all,
What is an easy way of scripting all the database tables and sprocs automatically to a separate file each one? I can't find this option in SQL Server Management Studio.
Or is any other way of uploading all objects to a Visual Source Safe project that does not require to copy and paste each script into a VSS sql script?
Thanks!

I am trying to create an assembly object when a report is initialized and I am getting the error:
[rsCompilerErrorInExpression] The BackgroundColor expression for the textbox 'textbox2' contains an error: [BC30390] 'ReportExprHostImpl.CustomCodeProxy.X' is not accessible in this context because it is 'Private'
In the Code tab, I have:
Dim X As namespace.classname
Protected Overrides Sub OnInit()
X = new namespace.classname()
End Sub
In my color field, I have "=code.X.color"
If I replace the color field with "=namespace.classname.color" and have color be a shared property, then it works. However, I ultimately need the color to be based on individual user settings, so I cannot use the shared property approach.
Any ideas on how to get around this "because it is private" error?
FYI, I am trying to replicate the concept of themes using report formatting information pulled from a database.
I had a SSIS Package which was developed on Beta Version Of SSIS, Now We have Standard Edition Of SSIS(Sql2k5) Installed.
In the Package we have One Flat file Source, One Script Component and A Sql Server as Target, We are programaticaly creating the package, Now When we open this Package in the Designer and Try to Run We get this error
"The script component is configured to pre-compile the script, but binary code is not found. Please visit the IDE in Script Component Editor by clicking Design Script button to cause binary code to be generated. "
Now when we just open the Script Designer and close it, The package runs.
I found the Error description at this link
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.sqlserver.dts.runtime.hresults.dts_e_binarycodenotfound.aspx
but could not find any help on this.
Same thing use to work on Beta version now it is now working.
From my understanding the problem is that in beta version, the script use to run at runtime, Now what they have done is that they generate a compiled code out of script and run.
My problem is that since i am using C# code to generate the package, How Will I Create a Binary Code out of Script.

In my ssis 2012 package, I have a 'object' type variable with some table like records. I want to do some SQL operations like insert/update on the records in another table based on this 'Object' type variable records. Basically I want to use a MERGE statement with another physical table with the records in the 'Object' type variable.how to map/use the Object type variable in Execute sql task.I am not good in script task. How to utilize this Object variable in a Execute sql task? Â
