i want to create single xml configuration file which should include the details to configure all the files in all packages.
Usually as u know whenever we configure the package one xml config file is created where we can change the path name for file or database details.
Like that we will create a xml config file for each package.
but i want the solution as on xml config file for multiple packages
I am getting following error when "CreateDeploymentUtility" is set to true and I try building the solution. It tries to copy a file that already exits in inDeployment folder. I am using Sept. CTP.

I've got an SSIS solution file with project deployment model in VS 2013 and would like to deploy that to SSISDB on different environments.All these days I followed the regular way to create a project in SSISDB and deploy it to that. Now want to find out if i can automate this process and so got some questionsÂ
1. Can we automate the process of creating a project on SSISDB based on our SSIS project name? This will be like when we do a deployment it should check if the project exists or not on SSISDB based on our SSIS project name, if the project exists we just deploy the packages in the project and if the project does not exists in SSISDB it will create that project and deploy the packages.
2. Can we also automate the process of creating environments? In traditional way we manually create the environment variables under environment tab of SSISDB, but can we make that also as part of deployment? Like when we are releasing to Dev server we look if that particular Dev variable exists on that server, if it exists we just update the existing stuff and if it does not exists we just create it.

SQL Server configurations like. dedicated memory, open objects, locks, user connections, tempdb size and other factors.
If possible suggest me any site name where I can more info on that, or any other nice book on Admin and optimisation.

I am trying to load Project Real. I get warnings when opening the RecurringETL package. However I created the two environment variables it's looking for and have confirmed these variables are functional.
I am unsure how to troubleshoot this and am afraid to do anything given these warnings. Where is the configurations collection??????:

I have taken three dtsx files and re written them into one each in its own container. I use the XML Task task alot which the File connection is set by a variable and the variable value is evaluated by expression (the expression makes up the path/filename from other variable values). All the variables that make up the connection are at the container scope. The package will not run now because it is saying that the source (created by variables) for the file connection do not exist.
It seems the answer is that file connections exist at the package level therefore the variable has to be at the package level. This seems to be alot of variables i now have to move to package level to generate the XML source connection. Which in essence makes it confusing as to which variables operate in which container.
My question is can we easily move variable scope (Not ideal as we have alot of variables at package level) Or Can we do the same for connection managers as we do for variables and have them only used in a scope? (this will be ideal as some connections only need to be at a container scope)
I am having trouble creating my last table for a project.
I have a table named "Payment".
I have a composite key (ebay_ID & Cellphone_ID).
Would eBay_ID & cellphone_id also be foreign keys since they are the PK of their own table?
I also have an entity called "CC#" and "payment_amt".
For example there is a buyer who purchased 3 diff items, so the ebay_id would be the same and so would the cc#.

I have the full blown Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (MSSMS) installed on my workstation.
We have a number of existing databases that I'd like to manage with MSSMS and put into source control.
How do I get MSSMS to "import" or "Convert" an existing SQL server 2000 database into a project that I can manage with MSSMS? We have not used Source safe up to this point, but would like to start doing so now.
This seems like it ought to be explained well up front in any discussion of converting from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 or installing 2005, but I can't find ANYTHING useful in the BOL or other help.

In my local client installation of the BI tools, I get the following error when simply creating an SSIS project and the default empty Package tries to display on the screen.
Index (zero based) must be greater than or equal to zero and less than the size of the argument list.
I can use the Reporting Services designer with no problems, and I can use SSIS from the client tools on the server. It is just on my local PC that I get this error. I have completely uninstalled all the tools and reinstalled with no luck.

The user id I have stored in string ConfiguredValue gets transfered to OLEDB Provider MSDORA named (SQL_REAL_Source_myoradb) but not the password
To workaround this bug only with MSDORA can aynonne sugest a setting I should use in package security
ie the default is EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey?

I have VS2005 SP1, running WindowsXP SP2. Integration Services is
running on my machine, but I would think that this shouldn't matter
anyway as the error is happening before I have even indicated and data
source to use. If I take this xml file with the error and copy it to another new SSIS project on another machine, it works fine. Reinstalling VS2005 had no effect. I am now reinstalling SQL Server 2005 SP2 to see what effect that may have.
Any ideas?

For some reason in a Team Foundation Team Project that has multiple project types (SSRS, SSIS, WebSite, C# Business DLL...), the SSIS project makes itself the startup project to the team project. If I explicitly set another project as the startup project to the team project and then select an SSIS package in the SSIS project in the team project, the SSIS project becomes the startup project automatically.

I tryied creating my first package in SSiS and i am lost in problems.
Firstly , i am not able schedule the package with the connection to JDE sustem.how ever if i run it through GUI it runs fine.
Secondly, when tried to create configuration table, it say,
" Could not complete wizard actions",
Also it says, cannot insert configuration information into the configuration table".
Some time back i was able to create it, but now it some how not creating.
Can any help me in this regard.I need to move it to production by 2 days..

I cannot get the log file path read from the configuration.
If the path in the Connection Manager is invalid, package throws an error "SSIS logging provider has failed to open the log" instead of reading it from the config.file. What am I doing wrong?
Here is the portion of the config file. Everthing else is read from the config file correctly.

I am new to SSIS. I followed the direction of the tutorial Creating Simple ETL Tutorial package in BooksOnline. I have tried more than five times and have done exactly as suggested in the tutorial but it does not work.

I get these warnings and finally fails:
1)[Lookup [30]] Error: Row yielded no match during lookup.
2) [Lookup [30]] Error: The "component "Lookup" (30)" failed because error code 0xC020901E occurred, and the error row disposition on "output "Lookup Output" (32)" specifies failure on error. An error occurred on the specified object of the specified component.
3) [DTS.Pipeline] Error: The ProcessInput method on component "Lookup" (30) failed with error code 0xC0209029. The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running.
4) [DTS.Pipeline] Error: Thread "WorkThread0" has exited with error code 0xC0209029.
Can someone help me with this tutorial error? or Am I doing something wrong.

In my office computer network system (LAN), my Windows XP Pro PC has SQL Server Express and VB 2005 Express installed and I was granted to have the Administrator priviledge to access SQL Server Express. I tried to create a SQLCLR project in my terminal PC.
1) I tried to set up a remote connection to SQL Server Express in the following way: SQL Server EXpress => SQL Server Surface Area Configuration. In the Surface Area Configuration for Service and Connection - local, I clicked on Remote Connection of Database Engine, SQLEXPRESS and I had a "dot" on "Local and remote connections" and "Using TCP/IP only". Then I clicked on "Apply" and "OK" buttons. Then I went to restart my database engine in SQL Server Management. When I went to check SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration, I saw the arrow is pointing to "Service", not to "Remote Connections"!!!??? Is it right/normal? Please comment on this matter and tell me how I can have "Remote Connecton" on after I selected it.
2) After I restarted the database engine (I guess!!), I executed the following project code (copied from a book) in my VB 2005 Express:

As you can see in the title I would like to import my tables from the data base which is in the SQL Server, to an mdf file which can be attached to the project.Can some one give an indice please?
For a database, we have 4 data files in a particular file group and the file sizes are almost 70 GB each.
Do I come across any performance issues if I create/pre-allocate an additional data file in the same file group so that the existing files don't grow too much?
while working on deployment to production server of an SSIS project, I have noticed that development priject has "disappeared" from my development machine which, obviously, was not my intention, at all. I now get the error prompt saying this:
what am I suppose to do in order to RESTORE it on devel machine like it used to be?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a simple SSIS package (stored in the file system) that gets a file path from a configuration file. The configuration type is an indirect XML configuration file that uses an environment variable to store the location of the configuration file.
When I run the package using dtexecui, or just dtexec from a command line, the package successfully picks up the file path from the configuration file (for verification I am writing out the variable containing the path to the log file). However when I run the package from a SQL Agent job it appears that the configuration file is not being used (the path is set to the same dummy path that I used during development). I have tried running the job as both a CmdExec and an Integration Services job and both fail on the same thing (invalid file path).
Both the SQL Server Agent service and the Integration Services service use a domain account as their start up account. This domain account has been included in the local administrators group on the server (in case it was having trouble accessing the environment variables).
What is the problem here €“ surely changing the way in which the package runs should not affect the configuration file settings! Any help would be appreciated€¦
We are deploying our SSIS packages into different folders. For example:
Test1
est2
production
Test1 points to the Test1 database, etc.
So, I configured my SSIS package to use a database connection called dbMAIN.
I then setup the SSIS File Configuration (XML) so that "dbMain" points to Test1. This xml file, called Global.dtsConfig, sits in C: est1, the same place as my ssis.dtsx file.
I want to copy my dtsx file and my dtsconfig file into est2 and production. The problem is that the the location of dtsconfig is HARDCODED in the ssis package!
How do I dynamically change it?
I tried to hardcode the location to ".Global.dtsconfig", but that did not work! Please advise!

I'm sitting down again to see if I can get configuration files to work. To test, I've set up a simple package that reads a flat file and writes to a table.
I've enabled configurations by clicking the checkbox in the configurations window. I am using an xml file on the local server, and there is an absolute path defined to the file. I also added a password to the xml file so the connection will work. To this point, everything works.
However, when I go into the configuration file and edit it to point to another server, it doesn't pick it up!
That is, when I run my package, it still writes the data to the old server. It's like it's completely ignoring the configuration file and just using the OLE DB connection manager instead.
However, if I delete the OLE DB conn mgr, the package doesn't work.
Please help... this is where I got stuck before.
