We are having blocking issues on our server. Recently, I noticed that we no longer have any thing under Current Activity. When I click the plus sign beside it, it shows no items - that is, no process info, locks/process ID, or the locks/object. Does anybody know why and how I can reset it?? Thanks for your help.

What i need to find is items and datediff from current date to created date with respect to wait area. You will get more clear with example
For Eg. For items 1 the wait area changes from A1 to A2 at
2011-10-16 and remains A2 so i need to find the date differeence from

For item 2 that wait area remains same for entire period that is
A2 so datediff from today date to 2011-10-19(last created date of that item)
For item 3 that wait area A2 then it becomes A3 then becomes A1
so need datediff from today to 2012-01-20
For item 4 that wait area A2 remains for the entire period
so need datediff from today-2012-01-21

As you can see I have added only one contract (for the sake of simplicity). At any given date I want to calculate the running total for a contract (all contracts), but the aggregation must take the contract state into consideration.
You can see my expected result for queries 1 - 3. That means, with the actual state ('B') I want to aggregate all values regardless of their state in the past.
For query 2 the state is 'A' ... I hope you can follow.
Now my aim is to aggregate all contract states for any given date with the right value. The past states of each contract are not relevant. And of course future ones (with respect to the query date) shall also be irrelevant.
Maybe the solution is a combination of 'LastNonEmpty' and SUM/PERIODSTODATE ...

I'm having an issue creating a report that can group & sum similar items together (I know in some ways, the requirement doesn't make sense, but it's what the client wants).
I have a table of items (i.e. products). Â In some cases, items can be components of another item (called "Kits"). Â In this scenario, we consider the kit itself, the "parent item" and the components within the kit are called "child items". Â In our Items table, we have a field called "Parent_Item_Id". Â Records for Child Items contain the Item Id of the parent. Â So a sample of my database would be the following:

We are finding ourselves editing data within a sql database using tools such as MS Query, Access or VB. Is there anyway to log these edits? Auditing is set up within the application to log changes made by the users but not by third pary applications. ANy thoughts?

Sybase and DB2 both have the capability of tracking user activities ata number of levels: invalid access attempts to databases, table, etc.;creation/deletion/modification of database objects/users/groups,grants/revokes.For MS SQLServer, the only setting that I've seen in the documentationis access attempts (none, fail only, etc.)The monitor program has the capability of tracking the events that Iwant to be monitored, but it seems as though these settings persistonly while the monitor program is running.I'd like these settings to persist permanently and the event records tobe sent to the system log.I can't seem to find the right term to get this information out of theMS Books On LIne.Help!

I have a database server running on a sql server 7.0. Some external app is accessing this db server, reading and updating some tables. For some reason, some updating actions didn't work. I just want to track those updating actions, and see if there're some logs reporting failure reason. Is there some tool in sql server 7.0 that could help me do that? Thank you.

The Task:
- I need to calculate the duration of the activities PER HOUR.
i.e. in the example above, if I want to see the productivity for 2PM (i.e. activity duration from 2-3PM), I should only get 35 mins (as the activity started at 14:25). In the same way, if I see the productivity for 3PM (i.e activity duration from 3-4 PM), I should only see 25 minutes (as activity ended at 15:25).
There would technically be many activities with overlapping times - for example, there might be 5 activities starting at 14:30 and ending at 15:10. In this case, if I were to see the productivity for 2PM, I'd see 150 minutes (as each activity starts at 14:30, so 30 min per activity = 150 min). In the same way, if I saw the productivity for 3PM for those 5 activities, I'd see 50 minutes.
Is there a way for me to set up CDC so that all the processing (SQL Agent, etc) happens on the machine receiving the data? I'd like to move as much of the processing as possible to the destination.

It must be possible to add the place where they currently are working. Then the ExperienceUntil has to be something like still going on. Then I decided that the user then had to set the current date.
But what I want is the following, I want that the ExperienceUntil keeps updating automatically, like everytime i get that record, it has to have current date.
Is this possible ?
But if the ExperienceUntil isn't the current date , it just had to take the supplied parameter date.

I'm trying to include the COUNT(*) value of a sub-query in the results of a parent query. My SQL code is:

This comes up with an error basically saying that 'touchAppointments' isn't valid in the subquery. How can I get this statement to work and return the number of notes that relate to the relevant appointment?

Hi , I am trying to write a report generator by simply using a form and then a gridview that query's the database based on what the user selects on the form. Anyways, I update the SQL parameters similar to below code. I just want to know how i can tell the parameter to get ALL values from the parameter instead of a specific value. For example if the user wanted to see ALL the records for CustomerName what would i set the parameter default value to? I tried the asterisk but that did not work. Please guide me....Thanks! numbers(541, 456, CE6050,...) and selects only the customers that have
all product numbers in the list. I have a product table that has the
following schema:

and a customer table:
customerNumber numeric(5,0),address varchar(50),contact varchar(50)
So a customer can have more than one product, but I need a select
statement that takes the product numbers and selects them against the
product table and returns only the customerNumbers that have the entire
list of product numbers. I have tried doing a join on the product list and productNumber, then join with the customer table on customerNumber, but that gets any entires found in the list not the entries that have all the product numbers. Thanks in advance for any help.

Initially this started as a case of "doh, I should just be using one database here, not two", and I was simply wanting to copy database tables. In VS2K5 I tried as there is a right click menu option of copy when a table is selected but this doesn't work for me with any database object of any kind. So fast forward to the present...I now am attempting to deploy an app to a hosting service, 1&1.com. I am allowed only one database in my current package, which should be fine for now. So I had to combine the ASPNETDB along with 2 other databases. It took a bit of time, but I got everything done, I thought, and posted to the servers. While debugging I get an error saying a stored procedure can not be found. And it indeed is not.This really confuses me as I made the changes in VS2k5, shut down and restarted to make sure I didn't miss anything, then used SQL Server Man. Studio to make a .bak file to upload to my hosting service. It never occurred to me to verify the changes I made in VS2k5 were actually on the database when viewed there. Well, they aren't, and I have no idea why. That would be issue #1 I suppose.So after giving the background info here, what I am looking for help with is how to get the changes I am making in VS2k5 to also be present when viewed from SQL Server Man. Studio as the only means of posting a db to my hosting provider is by using a .bak file.Also, why is it a project template I download has a .mdf file I am not able to even see in SQL Server Man.
