Current Package Reference.

Oct 31, 2006

hi

Iam developing a custom ssis source component, in that i need to get the reference of the current package where this component is added. I can get get the reference of the current package using this line of code

Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application app = new Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application();

Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Package pak = app.LoadPackage(@"CDTSPackage1.dtsx",null);

Here i need to pass the path of the package. Is there any other way to get it (without the path)?

Thanks

Can You Reference A Package Using ActiveX Script Task?

Aug 23, 2007

Using ActiveX Script Task it is possible create office automation objects such as Word and Excel typically using the CreateObject() Syntax. Can you use this syntax to create a Package object using CreateObject("DTS.Package")? If not Why not? I am not sure whether it was possible in DTS.

I am aware of the fact that ActuveX Script Task is included in this Version of SSIS and will be deprecated.

Disable A Task In The Current Package Programmatically?

Dec 14, 2006

Hi,

I have a package comprising a number of Data Flow Task steps, to import various tables of data from some Access databases into SQL Server. The name of some of these Access databases will change depending on the date, e.g. last year's data is currently in a database called "2005data.mdb". At year end this will be superseded by "2006data.mdb". The Access databases are within a 3rd party system so I have no control over the file names.

I have a Script Task that checks the current date, and changes the name of an Access database in the connection string to reflect last year's date. But to complicate matters, last year's file might not exist.

So the Script Task checks whether the file name exists. If not, I would like to disable the Task that uses this connection. But how do I reference a task within the package that contains my Script Task, by name, to set the Disabled attribute to true?

I want to do something like CurrentPackage.Tasks("MyDataFlowTask").Disabled = True.

I would also welcome alternative suggestions for how to achieve this.

Many thanks,

Keith.

Reliably Detecting The Current Directory For An Executing SSIS Package?

Oct 30, 2007

I'm attempting to find a reliable way to determine the file system folder in which the current package is located. (Please note that for this purpose I have no need to support SQL Server deployment, so the fact that there is no current folder in that context is not in scope for this post. )

Anyway, I've added the following code to a Script task in one of my packages:

Code BlockMsgBox(Environment.CurrentDirectory)

When I run the package from DTEXEC I get this the current working folder from which I executed the DTEXEC command line. When I run the package from DTEXECUI I get "C:Projects2005TFSRootSSISCurrentBranchProject", which is the actual folder where the package is located. When I run the package from within Visual Studio (right click, execute package) I get "C:Projects2005TFSRootDocumentationSSIS" which is what is throwing me off. I can't tell where this path is coming from; it is a valid path on my machine, but why it's showing up as the current folder is the mystery. There's no code there and never has been, although I do check in and check out documentation stored in this folder.

I've looked around online but have had no luck in finding any information aboutreliably determining the location of an executing SSIS package. The best I have found is this thread (http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2202954&SiteID=1) which doesn't address the issue I'm seeing.

In short, I'm looking for a consistently reliable mechanism that will allow an SSIS package to be aware of its location at run time, regardless of the mechanism (DTEXEC, DTEXECUI, BIDS, etc.) through which the package is executed. My hopes aren't all that high, but I figured if I was going to get an answer anywhere it would be here.

Has anyone else had success with this?

Thanks in advance!

Get Rows Between Current Date And Current Time

Jun 8, 2008

I've this query
SELECT
t1.ID, t1.Date, t1.Time,
t1.VALUE
FROM RESULT WHERE t1.Date>=CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),DATEADD(d,-7,GETDATE()),101) AND
t1.Date<CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), GETDATE(), 101)

Let's say, current date is 8 AUG 2005 and current time is 2045
So, i will get
ID | Date (this is datetime) | Time (this is integer) | Value
--------------------------------------------------
204 | 8/1/2005| 2359 | 90
205 | 8/1/2005| 2250 | 99
206 | 8/1/2005| 1950 | 88
...
...
207 | 8/7/2005| 1845 | 77
208 | 8/7/2005| 2255 | 77
209 | 8/7/2005| 2140 | 77

Can someone can show me to filter data between
t1.Date>=CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),DATEADD(d,-7,GETDATE()),101) AND TIME>=CurrentTime
t1.Date<CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), GETDATE(), 101) AND TIME<=CurrentTime

If current date is 8 AUG 2005 and current time is 2045, so the result shown as follow

ID | Date (this is datetime) | Time (this is integer) | Value
--------------------------------------------------
204 | 8/1/2005| 2359 | 90
205 | 8/1/2005| 2250 | 99
...
...
207 | 8/7/2005| 1845 | 77

I only have this query,
SELECT
t1.ID, t1.Date, t1.Time,
t1.VALUE
FROM RESULT WHERE t1.Date>=CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),DATEADD(d,-7,GETDATE()),101) AND
t1.Date<CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), GETDATE(), 101)

lack of idea to put the TIME condition.

Plz help me..

Check If Date Is Current Date And Stay Current

Apr 25, 2008

Hi,

I'm making some sort of application where people can add their resume.
They also need something to add places where they have worked or currently are working.

I have a form where they can add this and i add this experience using the following stored procedure:

GO
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
create procedure [dbo].[sp_Insert_Experience]
@ExperienceId uniqueidentifier,
@ExperienceEmployee nvarchar(100),
@ExperienceFrom datetime,
@ExperienceUntil datetime,
@ExperienceQualifications nvarchar(250),
@ExperienceTechnologies nvarchar(250),
@ExperienceTasks nvarchar(250)
as
insert into Experiences
values(@ExperienceId,@ExperienceEmployee,@ExperienceFrom,@ExperienceUntil,@ExperienceQualifications,
@ExperienceTechnologies,@ExperienceTasks);

It must be possible to add the place where they currently are working. Then the ExperienceUntil has to be something like still going on. Then I decided that the user then had to set the current date.

But what I want is the following, I want that the ExperienceUntil keeps updating automatically, like everytime i get that record, it has to have current date.

Is this possible ?

But if the ExperienceUntil isn't the current date , it just had to take the supplied parameter date.

I am access SQL 7 via ADO in some ASP pages. My database objects were created under a user name aliased to the dbo. As a result, when I have my client logon to make a connection, I have to preface all my object references with the name of the owner, i.e., Select * from mydboname.people . Is there a way to avoid having to prefix all my transact sql statements with the owner?

Reference Materials

Jun 21, 2008

As I posted earlier, I am relatively new to TSQL. I have been given a few books:
O'Reilly SQL on SQL Server 2005
O'Reilly SQL in a Nutshell
Mastering SQL Server 2005 - Sybex
Beginning SQL Server 2005 Programming - Wrox

I have a copy of SQL2005 Developers Edition on a development server. So I think I have some decent tools at my disposal.

I was wondering if there are any other sites or forums that might be suggested for learning SQL programming? Right now, I am just making stuff up and following examples in books, etc. I would like to find a site where there are beginner level projects for no other purpose than educational. Something where I can get more hands on of the design and programming aspects. Just to practice.

Thanks,

Object Reference Not Set...

Hello. I'm getting an error - "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" when running an SSRS report with graphs. It only happens when the returned dataset is empty (based on parameters set by the user, it is possible to return no rows). I've tried using the NoRows property (I entered "No Data" in the property box), but I still get the same error. Is there another way to account for an empty dataset in charts?

UDT - Get Reference To Table

Jan 12, 2007

Hello everyone !

Given a UDT, is there any way to get a reference to the table where the specific instance is running ?

IE: Let's suppose we have defined a UDT named UDTPoint; now we define two tables: ATable & BTable, wich both have one column that is defined as UDTPoint.

When an insert/update/delete operation on ATable or BTable occurs, the UDTPoint class needs to verify in which context it is running (ATable or BTable) before doing operations on data.

Is there any way to achieve that ?

Thanks
