DB Engine :: Creating Instance Of COM Component With CLSID Failure?
Jul 7, 2010
Since installing the client tools for SQL 08 R2 on my laptop, I am running into the following error when trying to open a step within a SQL job:
Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
Â
Creating an instance of the COM component with CLSID {AA40D1D6-CAEF-4A56-B9BB-D0D3DC976BA2} from the IClassFactory failed due to the following error: c001f011. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Â
Creating an instance of the COM component with CLSID {AA40D1D6-CAEF-4A56-B9BB-D0D3DC976BA2} from the IClassFactory failed due to the following error: c001f011. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS)
Â
Is there a patch out for this?
I am facing a problem with Bussiness Intelligence Development Studio of SQL server 2005 developer edition.
I have SQL 2005 Developer Edition in my machine which has Microsoft Windows XP professional as Operating system and I don€™t have admin rights. I am getting error as given below when trying to launch the connection manager dialogue box from the IDE to add a new connection manager or to edit the existing connection manager in a SSIS package
Error code
TITLE: Microsoft Visual Studio ------------------------------
Creating an instance of the COM component with CLSID {C8B522D0-5CF3-11CE-ADE5-00AA0044773D} from the IClassFactory failed due to the following error: 80070005.
------------------------------ BUTTONS:
OK ------------------------------
The CLSID {C8B522D0-5CF3-11CE-ADE5-00AA0044773D} refers to Oledb32.dll in the registry.
With Admin access i am able to launch the connection manager dialogue box to add a new connection manager. But i need to open the dialogue box without Admin access.
Note : I am able to launch the new connection manager window from Bussiness Intelligence Development Studio of SQL server 2005 Express edition with out admin privileges.
I am using vb.net 2005 and SQL Server 2005.. I have deployed some of my packages on the server.. Now if i am trying execute packages with SSIS object model from any of developement PC they are executing perfectly. But as soon as i am trying to execute them from client pc - where no any component except (.netframwork) -- i am getting the follwoing error:
Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {E44847F1-FD8C-4251-B5DA-B04BB22E236E}
Can any one help me out..? i have gone through some of the article stating that SQL client componet must be installed on the computer from where app runs...
Is there any other solution to use SSIS object model...
Got windows Vista Business edition, installed Visual Web Developer Express, SQL Server 2005 Express SP2, SQL Server Management Studio SP1 in that order. I was developing in VWD express without problems using WinXP but now on Vista Business, the local connection to SQL server appears to be a problem. I know there's nothing wrong with my web.config or anything like that as it was working perfectly prior to running under Vista. If i specify the database on the live website, it works fine. If I specify the test database in app_data folder, I get the following exception:-
Server Error in '/UKSD' Application.

I am taking a guess it's somerthing to do with access issues, but can't find anything out on searching the forums etc.. I am setup as an administrator, running VWD as an administrator and for the record, SQL Server Management Studio express works fine. Another small issue, when I run the application from VWD, I always have to minimise the application and restore it as the graphics get corrupt. Please help!! I cannot debug when running of the live website.
As a starter i tried to modify and translate the Personal Website Starters kit from the VS2005Team SDK.
When i'm working on the machine were it's installed , under debugging, all works great.
But when i try to develop from my laptop, via RDP on the develop machine, i've got this message and can not debug (connect to the SQLxpres Server)
Does anybody now a solution ?? Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. The connection will be closed.

I am new in .NET development and currently trying to learn VWB through Microsoft online tutorials.
Here is the problem that prevents me from getting further:
in VWB, when you right click App_Data and chose "Add New Item" and then select SQL database, the following error message is displayed:
"Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. The connection will be closed."
If I cancel out of it, it does generate mdf file under App_Data folder in Solution Explorer, but when I try to open it, it says:
"The item does not exist in the Web directory. t may have been moved, renamed or deleted." and that is where the whole sharade deadends.
I can connect via mycomputersqlexpress under Data Connections in Database Explorer (it then adds "master.dbo" to the path) and then create custom tables, but that is not the same, isn't it? I mean, this will not integrate my database tables through default configuration that I am trying to follow?
when I try to connect to an mdf as a power user, --------------------------- Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition --------------------------- Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. The connection will be closed. --------------------------- OK ---------------------------
I was able to do do this before until Saturady when I had to re-install sql server, and express etc due to some system problem on my xp Pro PC. What have I misconfigured?
I do see the service SQL Serer(SQLEXPRESS) started under Network Service and SQL Serfver(MSSQLSERVER) started under local system.
My power user ID does have modify access to the sql 90 database folders. and to the mdf.
No wonder Microsoft is giving it away for free. It€™s not worth anything. I am very disappointed in this version of SQL server. I decided to start learning VB so I downloaded and installed VB 2005 express edition and SQL 2005 express. I tried to build a personal website using the starter kit. I kept getting the following error message, for which I have seen numerous postings on this forum. €œFailed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. The connection will be closed.€? I went out and bought the Standard version of VS 2005 thinking there may be a feature that the free express version is lacking. I uninstalled the express version, cleaned the registry, deleted all the folders it created and installed the Standard edition. Then I tried to create a personal web using the starter kit and it does the same thing again. I can not create a database file, connect to a database file. I can not create or attach a database on the SQL 2005 express from VS 2005. The SQL server Express seems to be working OK since I can attach to it using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express. There is something about the way VS tries to connect to the database server that is not working. VB does recognize the local computer as a SQL server but can not connect to it. SQL server is set to accept Shared memory, TCP/IP and named pipes for local clients. What is causing this? This is some information on the system I am using:
MS XP (SP2)
Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Version 8.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200) Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0.50727 Installed Edition: Standard
Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express 9.00.1399.00 Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2000.085.1117.00 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158) Microsoft MSXML 2.6 3.0 4.0 5.0 6.0 Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.2180 Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0.50727.42 Operating System 5.1.2600
I am now to programming but nor computer illiterate. I have been working with MS SQL servers since version 6.5 and have MCSE, Network+, A+ and Security plus certifications. Installing and using VS should not be this problematic. What is wrong with Microsoft?
I am using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Designer Version 9.00.1399.00.
My OLE DB Destiantion component is inserting data into a table. When there is duplicate it will failed. But I want ignore this since I know data is same. But even I set Ignore Failure from OLE DB Destioantion Editor. It will not work and every time you reopen editor, the buttom drop down box always showing as " Fail componet". When I try run it, it will always fail on the inserting duplicated rows.
Does anyone know how can I tell servies ignore this error.
As per the state 8 --> Password mismatch i found from 18056 and error 18456 state 8.Here state 8 is the same in both the error messages. Here i didn't find failure code in 18056 error only state 8==> it means it points to password mismatch problem only?here when i checked spid=189 with dbcc inputbuffer it was showing Select @@version not sp_resetconnection as it does in case of pooled connection. Is it ok?Error 18056 state 8- The client was unable to reuse a session with SPID 189, which had been reset for connection pooling.
I have a script component in a data flow task that acts as a destination source. I need to know how to access the DTS Task Result object to declare failure in the task if something goes bad. I'm not sure how to access this object via the object model. Can someont send me a sample of how to do this?
I unable to setup a linked server on sql server 2012. The destination server is on sql server 7.0. I can able to setup the same linked server on sql 2005 sp4 and sql 2008 r2 but unable to setup on 2012. I am getting the below error message. OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI11" for linked server "" returned message "Client unable to establish connection due to prelogin failure".
Hello, I installed SQL 2005 Standard on the same server (2K3) with SQL 2000. My named instance I installed is coming up with "Version 8.00.2039" in the Server Management Studio and will not let me restore a database back-up I made on a 2005 development workstation (I'm assuming it's because it's trying to use the 2000 engine instead of the 2005). Is there a way I can force this instance to use the 2005 engine rather than the 2000?
I have three instances running on my sql 2008 r2 enterprise.I have taken full backup of one database from default instance.I login both the instances thru sa account. Now when I try to restore that backup on another instance it gives me the following error.... Â TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Restore failed for Server 'WRCP2F1CWS315TEJA'. Â (Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoExtended) System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The operating system returned the error '32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.)' while attempting 'RestoreContainer::ValidateTargetForCreation' on 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL10.MSSQLSERVERMSSQLDATAfcms.mdf'. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)
what can be done to restore bakup in another instance ...
This has me totally baffled. I have a default instance of SQL Server 2005 on a server and I installed a second instance on the same server. It worked fine until I rebooted the server. Now I cannot connect to the second instance. The error message mentions remote connections but I'm not trying to connect to the instance remotely. The entire error message is below. Has anyone come across this?
===================================
Cannot connect to SERVERINSTANCENAME.

An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.) (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)

I have a set of winforms (.NET 2.0 assemblies) ( 6 total ) that each tries to open a connection to the same Database file using the same connection string. In the connection string, UserInstance is set to true.
If each winform is started manually after opening the session on the computer, the connection to the database performs well for every winform.
If the same winforms are automatically started at the opening of the user session, the the following error is reported by each application when trying to open the connection :
Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. The connection will be closed.
The only way to overcome this problem is :
to stop the winforms, to stop the SQLExpress service, to kill the remaining sqlserv.exe running task, then restarting SQLExpress service, and finally manualy start the winforms.
I have installed a default installation of a named instance of a 2008 R2 server and I want to restore a server from the main system and application files. I have a bak file for the latest master and model database and the four application databases and transaction log files. If I restore the master database in single - user mode I will get an error when I start-up the SQL service as the other databases are not attached to the SQL instance.
Is it restore databases and then master/model? best way to restore a SQL server environment?
I recently installed SQL Server and Visual Studio. When I went into SQL Server, I could only connect to a SQL EXPRESS Database engine. I need to access the full Database. I tried disconnecting it, uninstalling/reinstalling. Now I cant connect to the SQL EXPRESS DB Object. There are no SQL Server services running.
I have SQL Server 2014 Enterprise Edition with a number of in-memory tables sitting in my database. When server is restarted it takes many hours to recover my database if there was data in these in-memory tables before shutdown. As a result, I need to clean up in-memory tables every time before server instance shutdown. This is really annoying and requires extra prescriptive actions for support team. Can I have DDL server/database level trigger to catch shutdown event and clean my data before instance goes down?
I am trying to use SQL Server 2012 for the first time. I am running Win 8.1. I create a local website and sample webpage using Visual Studio 2012 for Web. Running this page on my localhost, when it attempts to create a new SQL database this exception is thrown:
"Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. The connection will be closed."
I have been searching for a means to change the System Failure Error Check policy that comes as part of the Best Practice policies. I want to look back 24 hours. The WQL query shipped with the policy doesn't have a WHERE clause component that looks at TimeGenerated. That query looks like:
IsNull(ExecuteWql('Numeric', 'rootCIMV2', 'select EventCode from Win32_NTLogEvent where EventCode=6008 and Logfile="System"'), 0)
After searching for an example of how to do this and not finding any that are specific to PBM, I decided to fall back to a very basic approach - use wbemtest.exe to try out where clause additions and see how they work, then plug the result into the policy and see if it works. As a start, I tried the following query using wbemtest.exe:
select Event Code from Win32_NTLogEvent where EventCode = 6008 and Logfile = 'System' and TimeGenerated > '20130101010000.000000–000'
This works great in wbemtest.exe. My next step was to plug this into the policy condition expression as follows: IsNull(ExecuteWql ('Numeric', 'rootCIMV2', 'select EventCode from Win32_NTLogEvent where EventCode=6008 and Logfile="System" and TimeGenerated > "20130101010000.000000–000"'), 0)
When I try to manually evaluate this policy in SSMS, I receive an "Invalid Query" error message.I assume that SWbemDateTime isn't available to use inside Policy Based Management policies. All the examples of how to handle the kind of dynamic date creation I have seen are for use in PowerShell, VBScript, or SSIS. I've played with using DateDiff, DateAdd, and GetDate inside the query string, with no success.
Why does the ExecuteWql above fail?Is it at all possible to dynamically generate a datetime (say, 24 hours ago) as part of the query string parameter of the ExecuteWql call? What might that look like?
I've two instances(Default, Named[dynamicsFINANCE]) running on SQL server 2014. However, when I try to connect to named instance say (dynamics FINANCE) using SQL authentication from local SSMS, I get below error message.A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: -1)I assigned a static port number to the named instance [dynamicsFINANCE]Â 1450. I also setup the firewall rule to allow access to Port 1450.
We have 3x instances of SQL Server 2012 installed on a single remote server - there's the default MSSQLSERVER instance, then INSTANCE01 and INSTANCE02. I can remotely connect to the default MSSQLSERVER instance through SSMS, but I cannot connect to either of the additional named instances (INSTANCE01 or INSTANCE02).Â
For example, if I try to connect to "sql.domain.com", I can successfully access the default instance on the remote server. If I try to connect to "sql.domain.comINSTANCE01", I get an error stating
"A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server".
However - if I try to connect to "sql.domain.comINSTANCE01, 49301" (where 49301 is the TCP Port for the TCP/IP Protocol for this SQL Server instance), I am able to successfully connect.
This leads me to think that there's a communication issue with the SQL Server Browser service running on the remote SQL Server and my workstation.Â
The following items have been verified:
SQL Server Browser is running on the remote SQL ServerWindows Firewall has been disabled on the SQL ServerTCP Ports 1433, 1434, 1954, and 49301 have been opened up on the remote destination's firewallUDP Port 1434 has been opened up on the remote destination's firewall.
I have TWO named SQL Server instances (on the same machine) and I need to know the port of each of them, how can I do that? Is it write to check the following:
Which one to take: "TCP Dynamic Ports" or "TCP Port"? and what is the difference between them anyways?Â
Can the two instances (or more)Â on the same machine use the same port?!
We are currently looking at consolidating 10 servers into one cluster server.
Some servers may be busier than others. Is there any reason to split them up and give the busy databases specific CPUs or is it always better to have them on one instance?
I get "there was an unknown error applying the filestream settings("0x800710dc ") configuring my sql clustered instance with configuration manager. Not clear for me what I have to set for "Windows shared name".. Is it just an aliases or do I have to give the name of a shared disk ??
I've a fresh installation of SQL Server 2014 Enterprise on Windows Server 2012R2. I've setup de Windows Server Failover Cluster and the validation test has been successfully passed. I use mountpoint so I've disk M: that is the host drive for mounted volume m:Isql2014A that is the base folder for mounted volume
into these 5 mountpoint I've placed the SQL Server files.
After the installation of the first FCI I've re-run the cluster validation wizard and again it has passed successfully. When I try to failover the instance from one node to the other I have 2 problem:
1) every time I do failover, some disks fail to come online for a while and then succeed :
Cluster resource 'CLD - IstA - TempDB Data' of type 'Physical Disk' in clustered role 'SQL Server (ISQL2014A)' failed. The error code was '0xaa' ('The requested resource is in use.').
2) sometimes the SQL Server service fails to start, in the error log I see that the master database is not accessible. The master database in into the m:isql2014abinbackup.
Note: but even the connection string "serverBserverA,2040" also connects to Instance "serverB", when i try to connect from SSMS, In SSMS it shows the wrong instance name like, "serverBserverB", but it actually connects to  Instance "serverA"
i.what is the reason behind this? ii.Is there any way to avoid this connection, by performing server property changes, if any ?
