Is there a way I can trace it how it is coming? When I check input buffer for these ids, it looks like it is tracing everything. All the general application DMLs are coming in these spids.
DB Engine :: Cannot Stop Extended Event Session On Server
Jan 25, 2012I have two extended events sessions running on a server. I do have sql jobs that automatically stop the XE sessions and import the results to working tables. I see two "ALTER EVENT SESSION XXXX ON SERVER STATE = STOP" statements that are being executed for more than 2 days, the wait types are XE_SERVICES_MUTEX and PREEMPTIVE_XE_SESSIONCOMMIT. This is not the first time I see this behavior.I do not want to kill the sessions (I guess the sessions won't die anyway) neither restart the sql service

Oct 24, 2015We know we can use the event lock_deadlock and xml_deadlock_report to capture the deadlock info, however I also want to capture the execution plans for all of the SPIDs in the deadlock graph, how to output the execution plans to the extended events trace results either ? such as if there is an action for execution plan or workaround for it ?If there is no built in action for execution plan , may I know if we can add the customized info to the extended events results file also ? Such as when the deadlock related event happens , then we can run a query to get some info ,then added the info along with other info such as sql_text, dbname etc  to the events trace results file either ? The reason is if we also know the execution plans when the deadlock happens, it is useful to turning the query based on the execution plans to reduce deadlock happening .

I need to restore the file to my secondary server with replace and non recovery mode. I am having trouble performing that call? I have the code to reestablish the database to the availability group if I can get the restore feature working.Â
Extracting BLOB Into File System
May 1, 2014I have read access to a database that appears to store files as "BLOBS".I am trying to create a VB macro that extracts the blob file to a location (lets say... my desktop) as an easy way of viewing the content of that file.
I am using Oracle SQL Developer with Read access to the database. The BLOBS can be located but I am unable to find a SQL string that will convert the blobs back into files located on my desktop.I can locate the blob in the database and obviously it appears appears as a text string. I have heard of two keywords: DBMS_LOB and UTL_File.I am not only new to databases but also new to storing files as strings in a database.
Extracting Data From An Excel File
Dec 4, 2007I have an Excel 97 file that has a lot of data in it and I need to pull out pieces of that data. Here is one example of the data I have. It is in colum C in Excel.

What is the best way to attach this? I have several other items I need to pull out of this Excel File, but if I can get this figured out I can adapt it to get the rest of what I want.

Null Values When Extracting Data From An Excel File

I'm trying to import some data from a spreadsheet to a database table from a package in integration services. The problem is that I see the data when I open the excel file but when I try to run my package , it doesn't insert any rows in the table and it finishes with a success status.
My excel file has some formulas to get the data from other worksheets. I added a Data Viewer and all I see is null values in every cell.
I need help...does anyone know what's wrong?

DB Engine :: How To Restore From Current LDF Log File And Old BAK Backup File
Jun 11, 2015My customer got a total hard drive failure.After sending it to drive recovery specialist we were able to recover the LDF log file (MyDB_0.LDF).But the MDF file was completely destroyed (MyDB.MDF).They have a good full backup from a month ago.
1) Installed SQL Server 2012 on a new PC
2) Created a new database of same name (MyDB) - with same MDF and LDF file names as original
3) Took the new database offline
4) deleted the MDF and LDF files of the new database
5) put "MyDB_0.LDF" in the place of the LDF file I just deletedÂ
6) put the database back on-line
7) after hitting F5 to refresh databases - it shows "MyDB (Recovery Pending)"
8) tried to do Tail Log Backup with this command
  BACKUP LOG [MyDB] TO DISK = N'C:BACKUPMyDB_TailLog.bak'
WITH NO_TRUNCATE
And I get this error...
Msg 3447, Level 16, State 1, Line 3
Could not activate or scan all of the log files for database 'MyDB'.
The sad thing is I know we can get this data back using ApexSQL-Log. I can see all the transactions since the last full backup in this program - so the log file is not damaged. But my client doesn't want to pay the $2000 fee for this software.There has to be a way to restore this data, without having to purchase a third party tool.

(i use to steal code from .bas files and whatnot in 5th grade in vb4 for aol ''progz'') anyway, all i wanna do is create a simple single form window as my first project with vs 2008. i have a huge list of movies, and i would like a form to help me list what titles i have, and their location (friends house, cd book 1, book 2, movie tower, etc.) and i would like to be able to add to the list, delete, edit location, from my form. right now i got as far as designing my interface, and started to add a database. i cant even get pass that because..

May 16, 2003Hi, does anyone know how to access the *.evt file (SysEvent.Evt) from SQL in order to import a data from a file into a server table?
When you run EventViewer there is an option to save the log file as *.csv file and then use it. I want to eliminate this step (or make it automatic) and get the data into SQL right away.
Any ideas?

May 8, 2015I checked quickly one network  and I ran into the folders; I found out the folder MSSQL backup, nothing strange so far. Within that folder, anyway, I found out several backup and one very huge file (datawarehouse) with extension FILE. I am wondering what can be? I got datawarehouse mdf of course and datawarehouse log but what is that huge file (1 TB)?

Dec 19, 2006Hi, though i've been using sql server 2000 developer edition for awhile, I guess i overlooked the fact that the full-text search tool was never installed and i never needed it until now. Anyway, tried installing it today and get this error:
Installation of Microsoft Full-Text Search Engine Package Failed (-2147220991) 0x80040201
An event was unable to invoke any of the subsribers
I have no idea what this means - can you help me to get this installed correctly? I did just install service pack 4, and i tried reinstalling the components, tried rebuilding the registery of the current instance, and even tried creating a new instance with hopes that the new instance would install the full-text component - which it did not.
Any suggestions? Maybe I have to unistall the entire Software and reinstall it? Would I lose any of my data in doing this? I should note that all other tools seem to function fine.

SQL2K: Event Log File Size / Rotation

I have a SQL Server that generates a reasonable amount of log data in the SQL Event logs. I'm finding it difficult to use this data as the individual log files become rather large i.e. several hundred MB before they rotate.
What I would like to achieve: Set a constraint like: Each log will rotate when it reaches [XX]Mb in size and the files will be kept through [Y] rotations.
I can't seem to find how to do this through Enterprise Manager. I've had a decent look through google and there seems to be no info on this forum....can anyone point me in the right direction?
