I put the database in emergency mode, then I executed Checkdb, it shows no errors. The database status is still EMERGENCY and when I try to bring it online, it says he database is in single-user mode, and a user is currently connected to it. There is one processes which is accessing the database, i try to kill it, but it is not going. I am not able to set database to multi user.
We have an application running on SQL server. This application restores DB very frequently using Single user mode. Following are the SQLs that are executed to restore the database in single user mode and to get the database back in multi user mode.
alter database [test-db] set single_user with rollback immediate; --This sql is run using test-db use master;restore database [test-db] from database_snapshot = 'snapshot_test-db'; alter database [test-db] set multi_user;
After switching the test-db to single user mode some 4-5 background processes of Taskmanager jump in for the test-db kicking off the session that application has taken over in single user mode . These background process are deadlocked between them selves.
Please refer to the output of sp_who2 below at link .... and following is the deadlock XML.
NOTE: SPIDs in deadlock XML may differ from the output of sp_who2 as spids keeps on changing for these processes. <deadlock-list> <deadlock victim="process4bbfc78"> <process-list> <process id="process4bbfc78" taskpriority="0" logused="10000" waitresource="DATABASE: 5 " waittime="705"
....
On searching for this problem I found out that people have faced similar problem but I was unable to find out the root cause and debug steps for this problem. Stopping the SQL server is provided as a solution to kick out these background processes but this is not a feasible in our case as code to restore DB runs very frequently resulting in this problem at a good frequency.
I also made sure that SQL Server Agent is not running. The SQL services running on server are SQL server, SQL Server Browser and SQL Server VSS Writer.
My objective is to extract the source table data from SQL/Oracle or CSV files and load into destination table using CDC mechansim. May I know the steps required to implement in production from development.
I need reflecting changes of csv file in oracle DB. Suppose, I load single csv file in oracle DB which contains 10 rows. After some time, I have loaded another CSV file which has the modified row of the previously loaded csv file. So, how can I capture the CSV changes and how it is going to get reflected in oracle DB?There is no unique column in csv file to identify particular row.
I have a report running with both a db and Analysis services data source..When I change any of the multi-valued parameters a post-back is done and then the page is re-loaded all good. However. When I change one of the single value parameters a post-back occurs however the page said "Report parameter values must be specified before the report can be displayed. Choose parameter values in the parameters area and click the Apply button." If I THEN press APPLY the report loads perfectly with the selected option.
I have un-hidden ALL my parameters and they all seem to get values.. Does anyone have any clue what could be going wrong ?
How to find last login date/time for user DML acitivity on databases on Instance?
Is there any way we can find our the last login date/time for databases?
Note: 1. We can find if the SQL Trace is running and store.This is not good solution 2. Audit logins off/on is also not good solution. 3. Using DMV's also not good option, if reboot sql server instance then historical values can not see.
I've a textbox that displays the current time in this format "hh:mm:ss tt" but when it is save into the database it'll display the date and time together. So how do I save only the time into the database? My codes is as shown below:
txtTime.Text = DateTime.Now.ToLongTimeString() Dim parameterDate As SqlParameter = New SqlParameter("@Date_5",SqlDbType.DateTime) parameterDate.Value = txtDate.Text objCommand.Parameters.Add(parameterDate)
I've tried using Format() but it still get the same results. Can someone help me out? Thanks!
I need to capture the logout time and login time. I can capture the login time already but I cannot capture the logout time.My logout time and login time need to be on the same entry.This is the coding in the logout button:
Code: protected void logoutButton_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("SELECT TOP 1 LogId FROM LoggedInUsers where MemberID = @MemberID ORDER BY LogId DESC"); cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@MemberID", Session["MemberID"]); Session.Abandon(); }
I also need to do in global.asax. And this is the coding:
Access front-end, SQL Server 2005 backend.I have users connected to SQL Server via a Microsoft Access user-interface.Connection is via NT login.I want to log users' activities to the database with their userid.How can I capture their NT User ID (via VBA in Access)?Thanks,Bubbles
Is there any data type in SQL Server 2005 which captures only the TIME in default DATETIME type? For example, if the datatime field has a value 2007-12-11 12:31:00.000, i need a datatype which can capture 12:31:00.000 alone. The data type should be in a fashion so that i can find differences in time also... Any ideas??
Hello. Have a strange one here. I'm backing up databases locally to a driveon the server daily. I needed to change the time of the backup, and didthat, but it's still occuring at the old time.I deleted the old job, and recreated it with the new time. I won't knowuntil tonight at 12:00 whether that worked or not.Can someone tell me where it saves the maintenance schedules and how itkicks it off? I'd like to take a look at it to see if it's still there.I'm a little bit of a newbie on SQL server, so be gentle. :-)--If responding to me directly, please take out "REMOVE" from my e-mailaddress.Thanks!Doug
I am trying to find a easy way of capturing the SQL user login that is being used for the the record row that is being added/updated. I am now using a insert and update trigger to update the last edit date and record add date. Is there a way I could incorporate the user login capturing within the triggers ???
I'm trying to extract some data from a table in oracle. The oracle table stores date and time seperately in 2 different columns. I need to merge these two columns and import to sql server database.
I'm struggling with this for a quite a while and I'm not able to get it working.
I tried the oracle query something like this,
SELECT (TO_CHAR(ASOFDATE,'YYYYMMDD')||' '||TO_CHAR(ASOFTIME,'HH24:MM : SS')||':000') AS ASOFDATE
FROM TBLA
this gives me an output of 20070511 23:06:30:000
the space in MM : SS is intentional here, since without that space it appread as smiley
I'm trying to map this to datetime field in sql server 2005. It keeps failing with this error
The value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data
I'm struck with error for hours now. Any pointers would be helpful.
Any suggestions on how to create a report to show when someone first connected to SQL Server and when they last processed anything on SQL Server?
I wrote a query to check sysprocesses every 10 minutes, but it only reports that the person has a connection. It does not tell me if the connection is active. I thought I may need to look at processor and disk to see if those numbers change, but I'm not sure if that is the best approach. Any thoughts?
My goal is to write a DR plan where i am restoring all user databases onto a diffrent server in a event of hardware failure. I was trying to figure out a way to extract DDL of user accounts and their permissions on all user databases so i can simplify my DR documentation.
This is the plan I came up with...to restore all system and user dbs on a different Physical SQLServer.
1. build named instance $PROD
2. restore master database
- startup sqlserver in single user mode -m or DAC sqlcmd -S ServerName -U sa -P<xxx> –A net stop MSSQLSERVER$PROD net start MSSQLSERVER$PROD -m - restore database master from disk e:master.bak with replace;
3. start sqlserver normally
4. stop SQLServer agent
5. restore msdb
-restore database msdb disk e:msdb.bak with replace;
I apologize in advance if this has been posted but if you get the attached error "The record has been changed by another user...", we've discovered that this error can occur if you have a SQL Server Data Type of "Float" and also a "Text" Data Type in the same table. We discovered that it only happens on some records though and I am not sure why this is so. The solution is apparently to add a TimeStamp Data Type to the SQL Server table which does seem to fix the problem. If anyone has any insight on any other solutions (we cannot change the Data Types) or the reasoning behind this error, I would greatly appreciate the feedback.
Dear AllI have a problem ,as i created the new user itspassword became changed.I logon SQL Server as>> Server Name: localhost>> Server option : window athenticationthen i created a new user>>user name = test>>password = 123then,i refreshes the serveras i click on the test userits password become too long as ************what is the reason
I am getting the following error while trying to update a SQL Server 7.0 table thru' MS Access('97 version). It was working fine until now. This problem started happening after re-linking the table to MS Access as new columns have been added on the SQL Server table. We tried re-starting the MS Access,re-linking the table again,giving all the permissions to the user on the table etc. Also, no other user is accessing the table at the same time..Any help?
Error message in MS Access:
This record has been changed by another user since you started editing it. If you save the record, you will overwrite the changes the other user made.
Copying the changes to the clipboard will let you look at the values the other user entered, and then paste your changes back in if you decide to make changes.
First I want to query everyone with a date greater than today in the field EXPIRATION DATE. I know I can say > 2006-03-19 but I always want it to be TODAY.
Next, Is there a system field that I can search for the date a record was last updated?? I make frequent changes, and I want others to see what date a record was last updated. If not, can I tell the system to mark a field "YES" when I make changes?
I use phpmyadmin. I do not have server access, just through PHP.
I have a table with a field "StartedAt". I wish to capture all the data in that table which has Yestarday's StartAt date. My script below captures the data which has yestardays "StartedAt" info as well as today's date till now. How can i capture only yestardays info only.
SELECT StartedAt FROM myTable WHERE StartedAt >= DATEADD(day, DATEDIFF(day, 0, getdate()), -1)
I am pulling files from the FTP site using the FTP task. I want to also capture the date and timestamp of each of these files so that I can insert the values into a database and track when are these files get created normally on the FTP server.
I'm looking for a way of taking a query which returns a set of date time fields (probable maximum of 20 rows) and looping through each value to see if it exists in a separate table.
E.g.
Query 1
Select ID, Person, ProposedEvent, DayField, TimeField from MyOptions where person = 'me'
Table
Select Person, ExistingEvent, DayField, TimeField from MyTimetable where person ='me'
Loop through Query 1 and if it finds ANY matching Dayfield AND Timefield in Query/Table 2, return the ProposedEvent (just as a message, the loop could stop there), if no match a message saying all is fine can proceed to process form blah blah.
I'm essentially wanting somebody to select a bunch of events in a form, query 1 then finds all the days and times those events happen and check that none of them exist in the MyTimetable table.
I had a failover occur last night on my AlwaysOn AG, the SQL accounts had to have the passwords re-entered in order to connect to the databases?
1. I checked the SIDS, they match 2. both accounts have sysadmin rights, I know, I don't like it either but the apps will not run without it. 3. Only a few people have access to the SQL servers, right now, they all deny changing the password,
