Jan 8, 2008One of the developers accidently deleted a package from a SQL Server 2000 server. I restored the selected dts package record from an old msdb backup and restored it on the current msdb. Now when I open the error i receive an error

Recover A Deleted SQL Express Database
Mar 22, 2006One of my SQL Express databases was deleted by mistake through MS SQL Server Management Studio Express. It is not in the Recycle Bin and I have tried to use a tool such a Active@ Undelete to recover the file but it cannot find the deleted file.
I have a backup file *.bak in the ....MSSQLBackup folder I made using MS SQL Server Management Studio Express. When I try to use the restore database feature in SSMSE I get various errors.

I have tried to restore master table with the restore function, but it doesn't work. When I try to do this I received a message informing that it can't copy the data because one file was in use. The server was in a single user mode.
Is there anyway to recover the data that I have lost?

That’s the first and generally recommended approach any time a DB is suspect, whether it’s from log or data file corruption.But if I have no backups then we follow below steps ( after Googling I found these steps on most of the websites ):
1.EXEC sp_resetstatus ‘yourDBname’;
2.ALTER DATABASE yourDBname SET EMERGENCY
3.DBCC checkdb(’yourDBname’)
4.ALTER DATABASE yourDBname SET SINGLE_USER WITH ROLLBACK IMMEDIATE
5.DBCC CheckDB (’yourDBname’, REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS)
6.ALTER DATABASE yourDBname SET MULTI_USER
Now my question is,Â
1. If after executing DBCC CHECKDB at 3rd step, it shows inconsistency.Then I will execute SET SINGLE USER WITH ROLLBACK & if after executing DBCC CHECKDB at 3rd step, no errors found. Then what will be the steps?
2. When we execute DBCC CHECKDB (' DBNAME ', REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS) how can we recover lost data during process.As far as I know some data will loss and if it will happen then business will get suffered.
3. Why run DBCC CHECKDB() WITH REPAIR_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS if there are no consistency errors in the database?

Apr 17, 2015I need to recover some data in a table but i'm not 100% sure the right way to do this safely.
I'll need to query the two tables to compare the before and after but how do i go about restoring/attaching the backup database to SQL without causing conflicts?
If I restore, I assume this would just overwrite which is obviously the worst thing that can happen. if i attach the backup, how does this affect the current live DB? how do i make sure that it's not getting accessed and mistaken for the live DB?
The SQL server is 2008 R2 running as a VM.

I need to prevent modification/update to a field.
So I created a trigger. To take the data from DELETED table then replace the field data.
However, I have problem with one field which data type is text.
MS SQL always return me this error:
Cannot use text, ntext, or image columns in the 'inserted' and 'deleted' tables.
I use the following code to take the data from deleted table
DECLARE @ptrval varbinary(16)
SELECT @ptrval = TEXTPTR(NOTES )
FROM DELETED
I also tried simple Select statement
Select notes from deleted
What code should I use to take the deleted data

Once the data is cleared from the table the auto id names could be used again(the eventId is not stored) Currently the eventID is at 26,581,399. I know the maximum int value is 2,147,483,647.
How should I handle this? or rebuild the table every time the data is cleared(problematically)?

Nov 19, 2015I need to script out data in several tables (30+) and then reload those tables on a different database. Â The "target" database table data will get overwritten each time, not appended to. Â Several of these tables have numerous foreign keys and other constraints that must be dealt with. Â None of them have more than 100 records or so. Â Then I need to keep this script in source control and reference it as part of a post-deployment step with a Visual Studio DB project.
I have redgate, dbghost and visual studio. Â Are there any tools will generate the script for me complete with dropping all the constraints, truncating the tables, then re-adding the constraints back? Â Or, am I looking at simply scripting the table data out, then modifying the script myself to add in the steps to drop/readd the constraints? Â Further, since some of these tables might have relationships, not just to other tables, but to those in question, there will likely be an order in which the tables need to get loaded.
The approach I am thinking will be needed, since ive done this sort of thing before except with SSIS, is to run something like dbghost or the "generate scripts" option in SSMS as a starting point. Â From there, change the order around as needed, etc. Â
